This was posted during the PTR, before the Cinder of Companionship was added. It's still valid, but you'll need the cinder to tame it.

This spirit beast can be found flying VERY HIGH around Amirdrassil in the Emerald Dream. So high, in fact, that you will almost always cause it to leash when trying to guide it down. So, how do you tame this burning owl? Simple: just don't make it leash!

- Go to the east side of Amirdrassil
- Look for one of its roots that stick out much higher than the others. This root is just next to the entrance to the tree.
- When Nah'qi is flying from south to north along the east side of the tree, wait for it to be perpendicular to the root
- Fly up and straight at Nah'qi, but go past it. Turn, slow your speed, and tag Nah'qi with any attack.
- Either use a Goblin Glider or some form of slowfall (or if you're ballsy, Disengage at the right time) to land on the root
- Keep clicking Tame Beast until it's in range
- If you landed in a good spot, Nah'qi will be able to stay in range, and your tame will be successful.

When we get Pathfinder, it'll be easier to get in a good position to aggro and draw it down. Otherwise, you're in for quite a wait with this bird; it slowly flies all around Amirdrassil in its path, and is only close enough to tame on this specific root. This information could be out of date by launch, as there may be more effective methods found later, but after not even 24 hours on the PTR, this was what worked. Respawn time is somewhat generous, being approximately half an hour. It also doesn't hit hard despite being elite, likely to allow hunters to hit it enough to hold aggro long enough for a tame.

Taming Nah'qi requires the Cinder of Companionship which is awarded upon learning on any class the Reins of Anu'relos, Flame's Guidance which drops from Mythic Fyrakk on Amirdrassil.

Using the Cinder of Companionship provides an account-wide unlock so you don't have to obtain it on a Hunter.

Nah'qi is a tameable Spirit Beast located in the Emerald Dream on the Dragon Isles. It only drops a Crystalline Tear of Loyalty making it worthless to kill.

It flies 300yds above the ground around Amirdrassil in a counter clockwise route, taking 17 minutes to complete a lap. It has a minimum respawn timer of 30 minutes. It has an increased visibility distance compared to other mobs, being visible and targetable from 400yds horizontally compared to the usual 100yds.

Nah'qi has a 100yds leash range, meaning it will evade before hitting the ground. A good spot to pull it to is on the root located at 54.50 64.93. Wait for Nah'qi mid-air over the root, dismount attacking it, and use a Goblin Glider Kit to glide back to the root. If you do it from the correct spot it should not leash away so you can cast Tame Beast. /way #2200 54.50 64.93 Nah'qi Root

Just tried to tame it, waited mid air at 54/65, shot it, landed on root, started taming and it came up with this notification “you must prove yourself before you tame” or something to this effect…

~~Hoshkar gives an alternative to taming this beautiful creature on the Cinder of Companionship page. It just requires a mage or shaman.~~

I really hope they'll make it available in Heroic too. Mythic is just unattainable for the vast majority of players. Hell, even Heroic is too much for many. You'll need really good gear, all consumables, exact execution of your rotation and mechanics and you'll pretty much NEED a guild that will do Mythic because pugs are very unlikely to invite you. I get that it's special for the exact reason that it's hard to get, but Mythic is just way out of reach. :(

Hi all,

I camped this spawn for back to back tames on 03/28/24 overnight on same realm and looked to be ~4 hours not including it's travel time to the tame spot on the root (54,64). Most Spirit Beast spawns are much higher respawn timer & I couldn't seem to find any information on this spawn timer so hope this helps.
