The barrel was there after a server restart.

Both a guildie and I have looted this barrel, gotten the Lost and Found achieve, but not the recipe. A GM response was that it is a known issue :(

I looted the barrel, it disappeared, and no loot window appeared. However, my character stayed in the kneeling/looting position. I left my character right where it was and proceeded to open a ticket with a GM. About a minute later, I was in the middle of typing the ticket, when suddenly the loot window popped up and I was able to loot (despite the barrel being gone).

So, if this happens to you... don't move your character! The loot window will pop up eventually.

I bet Tomtom is a lovely addon to have and all, but for those of us who don't have this addon, and have been used to checking the small map and pin pont yellow dots on WoWhead to find our locations. Coming here to see a /way comment confuses us and isn't very helpful if we don't have the addon itself.

So could someone please confirm the actual area in the future by referencing notable landmarks on the maps please? :)

I did however find the ship myself and you can find it on the East top side of the Southern Island by Nayeli Lagoon. The ship is on top of the cliff and you have to run though the hostile village to get there.

A rare mob also spawns there by the name of Spriggin So be sure to keep an eye out for him when heading over there :D

Remember: You need to have mastered the Way of the Brew to learn this recipe, but it is not required to loot it :).

I swear on the soul of my father Domingo Montoya I reached the top alive after running through the monkeys.

I found the barrel after a sever restart (10/11/2012) and looted the items 10 seconds later after I stayed in loot motion fearing I would run into the known issue. Also some other guy tried to loot it but he never got it so I tried and looted it.

Recipe: Banana Infused Rum Is located in a barrel in the far end of the ship deck. It counts as a and you will also resive 5 in the barrel!

This particular recipe is found inside Barrel of Banana Infused Rum along with 5 Banana-Infused Rum next to the rare spawn Spriggin.

Obtained at 7:25pm 10/10/12 on the realm Argent Dawn - US. Character - Hagendaz

There are normally three barrels to Spriggin's right (port side) on the deck of the half broken ship if there's a fourth barrel that looks like a normal barrel would (typical brown barrel) it's most likely the rare spawn barrel, but mouse over it just to be sure before getting your hopes up.

Rares to date (In the order I obtained them with dates/times): 20 and achieved my title
Wind-Reaver's Dagger of Quick Strikes (Sadly I didn't screenshot this one in the heat of the moment 10/8/12 Hidden in a bush at the base of a pillar.)

I camped this for over 12 hours. I killed the rare spawn so many times I lost count. This morning there was rolling restarts and as soon as the servers came back up the barrel was there. Upon looting the barrel I got stuck in loot position and never saw the loot window pop up. I decided to open a ticket. As I was typing the ticket I forgot I hadn't checked my bags just in case. Sure enough the recipe was in my bag, YAY!

If you loot the barrel but you don't get the recipe, make a ticket to a GM. If he says that he cannot find proof of your looting, tell him that running the script /run print(IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(31411)) gives you 1 as response, meaning you looted it. At this point the GM will have to log your character and run the script himself to see it. That should be proof enough for any GM, who will then send the recipe via mail.

A friend of mine picked this up at roughly 20:40 today and I flew back to check it about 5 minutes ago (03:20) and it was there again! So it can respawn in less than 6 hours, even though it seems to be completely random.

Just a heads up if anyone is interested in camping for this. Hopefully this information can be useful for someone!

The recipe for this drink includes a silkworm pupa. It's a reference to famous, gimmicky kind of alcohol from Mexico called "mezcal con gusano", which includes a worm from the Hypopta agavis species at the bottom of the bottle.

Found this today together with 5x Banana Infused Rum, and used one of them. I got "completely smashed" the second I was using it, and turned into a Hozen Pirate. The boring part is that you can't move when you're hozen.. Not worth making cause of the expensive mats.

Found the 4th barrel (of the right side) a few minutes after Spriggin was killed, so if you kill this rare hozen and nothing happens - don't leave, wait...

Drinking this item sets all your food items on the 10min CD. Very annoying if you're in an instance and need to sit for food or want to sit for a food buff.

I sat here waiting for this barrel to spawn and so far nothing , but I can tell you Spriggin repawns every 2 hrs. I had my stopwatch going so I know exactly how long I was wiating and as of yet still no barrel, it has been 3 hrs. 25 mins. sinceI first got here and there was not a barrel then either and it took Spriggin 47 mins. to spawn from when I got there! I got tired of waiting so, I am done waiting for now !

I camped the spot roughly from 12pm to 4pm.
When I arrived, there was no barrel, but it did spawn for me at 3:50pm (2:50pm Server Time). Emerald Dream - US is my server.

I realize this isn't a spawn time, but it does indicate that the barrel can have a spawn time greater than 4hours.

I'm after the Iron Chef Achievement, I can tell you this recipe does NOT qualify because it belongs to Way of the Brew Pandarian Recipes as mentioned earlier.

Edit: it DOES, however, count toward the Ironpaw Chef achievement.

The addon Finders and Riches Helper is great for these items. It's currently set to 5.1 compatibility so you'll need to enable loading out-of-date addons or manually edit the TOC file to Interface 50200, which works fine for me. The addon gives helpful hints in addition to location (such as cave entrances or an NPC to interact with), but I was confused on this one as I initially thought it was in the cave below.

Can this only be looted once per account? because I stupidly picked it up on my rogue not realising it was a BOP item. Have not been able to find it since, and this was at least 5 months ago?

Something which has not been mentioned but I was able to confirm today:

This barrel is able to be subjected to phasing.

I came across it on an 89 toon who had completed NO quests in Krasarang. I flipped to my main on whom I wished to have the recipe. This toon (90) had completed ALL quests in the zone. She could not see the barrel. A friend in the other party was standing on the barrel but it appeared he was 'in mid air' to me.

Beyond annoying.

Might be a total coincidence but I was sat camping this, 15-20 mins later, was starting to get bored so threw my Golden Banana on the Deck & the Barrel spawned! As I say, might be coincidence but maybe worth a try!..:D

A good tip on getting this and not wait countless hours is to realm hop with the group finder tool :)
You can join groups that farm apexis, rep or world bosses and check if it is in their server, if not then leave and join the next one. I got it after doing this a couple of times, realy saves a lot of time :) :)

Recipe is BoP, with the item being visible once-per-character as with the other members of the Riches of Pandaria achievement.

Some people were reporting an issue with receiving the recipe, you can check if the hidden quest (FLAG - Banana Infused Rum) that tracks this item has been completed by typing:

/run print(IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(31411))

into your chat log. This will show if you've interacted with the barrel.

'nil' or 'false' means you haven't
'1' or 'true' means you have

In the event that you have completed the quest but do not have the recipe learned or in your inventory, submit a GM ticket.

This seems to give skill points for a bizarrely long time. I'm currently at 793 skil, and it is my ONLY yellow recipe. None of the Legion recipes are yellow, none of the Draenor recipes are yellow- most of them aren't even Green. But this is still yellow.

I recall several years ago all sorts of issues getting this recipe. Went back today Shadowlands 9.1 and found the recipe exactly where it was suppose to be.

Note! I did this in patch 10.0.7 (Dragonflight) and it worked.

I watched the Youtube video in Boxofbeer's post on "How to do it". But I read the note and everything and the post didn't appear. Then I was reading alot of others post in this thread and all of a sudden the barrel was there. I was playing two characters but as soon as my main looted the barrel it disappeared and my 2nd account couldn't loot it.

To check if you have looted the recipe:

/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(31411))

I can also mention that I did this with Warmode ON. I don't know if it matters but I just wanted to let you all know that it can be done.

HOW TO OPEN A GM TICKET

If you have already completed these and need help opening a ticket to receive them. Follow these directions.

Run the 2 following scripts and make sure they come back as "true".

Tablet of Ren Yun for Four Senses Brew
/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(31417))

Recipe: Banana-Infused Rum
/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(31411))

If "true", you just need to open a GM Ticket using the following steps...

1. Go to Blizzard website and login to your account
2. scroll to the very bottom of the page and click
3. Next there will be a bunch of game icons. Click on Warcraft.
4. The next screen will say "Tell us about the issue". Do NOT write anything. Instead click
5. Click
6. Click
7. Click Do NOT click
8. Next screen click

This will take you to the submission page

9. Choose your Realm from the drop-down menu
10. Choose your Character from the drop-down menu
11. In the Item name box I put... "Recipe: Banana-Infused Rum & Tablet of Ren Yun" or just enter the one that it says you already completed.
12. In the Description I entered the following along with the scripts:

I ran both scripts, and it says I have completed both. However, both recipes Banana-Infused Rum & Four Sense Brew (from the Tablet of Ren Yun) are not in my cooking profession. Since they are completed, I am unable to obtain them again. Can you please help?

From what I gathered, I understand that you're missing the recipes for the Banana-Infused Rum & Four Sense Brew despite completing the per-requisites for them.
I realize how frustrating it can be when you miss out on such helpful recipes, especially when you have finished the relevant quests or achievements. Let's have a look and see what we can do about this for you.
After looking into your character "Kesley", I can indeed confirm that you meet all the requirements, and you should have the recipes. As such, I remedied that for you, and you should have both recipes mailed to you shortly. Make sure to claim them before 30 days!

Thanks for your patience while we look into the issues with your recipes and auction house items

So, regarding the Banana-Infused Rum and Four Sense Brew recipes. The developers are aware of the issue, and a fix is set to be included in patch 11.1.7. Once that patch is live, you’ll be able to purchase both recipes from a vendor, as long as the quests are flagged as complete.

So with this info we have to keep an eye on vendors to get the recipes if you have already looted the treasure but didn't get the recipe.

EDIT 11.1.7:

You can now buy Recipe: Banana-Infused Rum and Tablet of Ren Yun from Li Goldendraft for 1 gold each. You probably need to have looted the treasures before.
