Surely a Dragon soul Trash mobs loot, for any Rogues
Normal mode only are BoE.
The first agility sword in Cataclysm since 4.0 when V&T dropped a sword. Blizzard originally decided to stop making these and made axes and maces instead so enhance shamans would be able to use them too. Apparently, they missed the swords so much they just had to bring em back.
This sword is perfectly itemized for combat with the haste/expertise, which is pretty nice.
Actually this will be BIS before heroic for gnomes. with their racial being
A note on the visual design of this item - I first saw just the image, sans stats, on mmo-champion.com and was immediately excited. Being a sword with a shield guarding the fist, I assumed that it would be the next upgrade for my tank. Unfortunately, I now see that it has agility stats.
This should be a popular item - after all the combat rogues in your raid have gotten theirs, then I'd imagine the tanks would like a crack at it for transmogrification. I know I will.
this weapon looks pretty big on some of the races, hopefully it will sit on your back instead of your hip :)
One dropped for our raid on the trash before Zon'ozz last night and I was more than obliged to use it for my combat set. It looks okay, has perfect itemization, is much better than the axe off Nefarian which sat in my bags, and allows me to go back to Combat over Assassination without gimping myself.
Furthermore, our guild respects an upgrade, even a temporary solution, for a player above frivolous needs such as transmogrification. No roll was even issued as soon as they saw agility and it went straight in to my bag.
Sure, I'll get my daggers very soon, but soon is not now and what we're doing now is punching elementals and bug-things in the face.
Awesome, I want it. I PvE as Combat because I love swords, and personally I don't plan on getting the legendary daggers (mainly because I feel in no way compelled to shell out 10,000g for something I'll be replacing with greens or blues as soon as Mists comes out).
I would love to grab this sword but the new Daggers are very good and or/better sucks.
According to Shadowcraft this sword is about 400 dps better than
for combat rogue MH; regardless 10k gold is worth it for the first tier of the legendary daggers and it's a fun quest chain.
Edit: My gear didn't change much but now this sword is coming up as almost 700 dps better than
so the numbers fluctuate quite a bit depending on the rest of your gear and how it is reforged. I could see with a different set how the 397 dagger could even be better than the 397 sword. The second tier of the dagger
however is better than this sword.
Before they revealed the name/stats of this sword, I honestly assumed it'd be a tanking sword...having a shield on it and all...

Way to drop the ball again, Blizzard. What is this? You give rogues a LEGENDARY dagger set, the first (ilvl 397) tier of which can be super-easily obtained, and then you make this a ROGUE WEAPON? There is NO tank sword in all of Dragon Soul (no, I'm not going to count Souldrinker off of Madness of Deathwing, which was clearly a compromise by Blizzard so that they wouldn't have to make separate tank and dps 1h strength weaps, not to mention shield tanks won't have an upgraded weapon til they've cleared ALL of Dragon Soul, which is ridiculous). This should have been a tank weapon, without a doubt. I would feel a little better if enhance shammys could use it, as then it wouldn't be such a waste, but since they can't use swords this is clearly another sign of Blizzard's favoritism toward rogues. Blizz drops the ball again, just like they did in Firelands by not having a non-tier set of plate dps shoulders and having the only strength one handed weapon a FRIGGIN TRASH DROP. How hard is it to fill the gaps, Blizz? This is just ridiculous. And for those of you who snottily made your comments about having this weapon to use for 2 whole weeks (at most) before you get the 397 preludes to the legendaries..... First of all, I think it's "frivolous" to have to have a 397 weapon for the two whole weeks before you get the first of your legendary questline daggers. Other people are doing fine with their Firelands-lvl weapons, what makes you so special that you need a legendary AND a weapon to fill that two week gap? Maybe us shield tanks want it to transmogify Mandible of Beth'tilac into because we're sick of looking at it and don't want to transmogrify it into something that's been in the game files for years. This should have been a tank weapon, both in appearances and because Blizz was too stupid to include one.
Edit: Delete it all you want, but you're only doing it because you don't want to hear the truth. This weapon is essentially a rogue-only piece, and rogues have tons of options in the DS raid tier, not the least of which is a set of LEGENDARY daggers. Blizzard should have made this a mace so Enh Shammies could use it also, or a tank sword or a str sword with neutral stats that can be used as a tank or dps weapon.
Actually for combat this is better than stage 1 of the legendary daggers ...
Dps wise it seems for combat these are ranked in this order:
Golad, Twilight of Aspects (stage 3 - legendary) (416)
No'Kaled, the Elements of Death (416)
Morningstar of Heroic Will (410)
The Sleeper (stage 2) (406)
No'Kaled, the Elements of Death (403)
Morningstar of Heroic Will (397)
Spine of the Thousand Cuts (397)
Fear (Stage 1) (397)
Tiriosh, Nightmare of Ages (stage 3 legendary) (416)
The Dreamer (stage 2) (406)
Electrowing Dagger (410)
Vengeance (stage 1) (397)
interested as to why shadowcraft has this weapon so low on their list especially below the raidfinder axe off of deathwing
Confirmed: drops in 10 man normal and not only 25 man (which was what was told to me by a GM).
Sword just dropped off 10 man normal on the tentacles in Warlord's room.
Shadowcraft sims this sword 125.4 dps ahead of my daggers with proper reforge and regem.
I'm not sure if Shadowcraft properly sims the dagger's set proc agility stack correctly, but this is what i see from my snapshots from daggers to sword.
Just got this to drop today on 10 man. We actually got all 3 BoP items to drop, and 1 BwE belt. First time we had any epic gear trash drop since launch. We have had 3 or 4 patterns drop. We had been doing at least the first 4 bosses since the patch launched, seemed a little odd.
I ended up with this sword on my prot paladin because no one else cared. Too bad it's useless for transmog because of the "Main Hand" designation (I'm sure that's a concession to the handguard model) which means it can't have its appearance applied to any "One Hand" weapons (like tank weapons tend to be).
It would be useful for healer and caster-dps swords, though.
the first day my guild raided with this we got a drop and we didnt have any rouges so it was an open roll now i have a nice xmog sword in my bank
A little bug(?) worth noting:
I won this weapon by default on my warrior tonight and was going to try transmogging it, though it was a mainhand and all other DPS weapons are one-handers. While this holds true and you can't transmog it's appearance onto a one-hander, I was surprised to find that you can equip this weapon in your off-hand, though it is labelled as main-hand. Since it is an asymmetrical model, however, the little shield faces inward and looks sort of awkward.
I really do wish that Blizzard would just officially make it a one-hander (A flippable model would be a plus but yeah). It's an amazing looking model, and it's a shame that a weapon with a shield on the hilt can't be effectively used by tanks!
Mage got this in DS 10 man run (the colored blob mobs). If we have swords, they're usually main handers. Can't wait to transmog this in the future!
WHY did they have to make this sword main hand?
its the most awesome looking sword ive ever seen. Especielly for tanks.
As of patch 5.0.4 this sword is now ONE HAND.
So for all you SMF Warriors, or DW DKs. Rejoice!
Confirmed on my DK by manually putting the sword in both my main and my off hand.
Every once in a while the model gets reversed and the hand guard will be facing inward, to fix this just un-equip it and re-equip it and it'll display the way it's supposed to be.
This sword is now a one-handed weapon as of 5.0.4. I found this out by accident, was looking in my void storage for a weapon to transmog my two Souldrinkers into for my SMF set and just happened to mouse over it and see that it was "one-hand." Also, it now reverses if it is equipped in the off-hand or your off-hand sword is transmogged into it... altho it's a little bit buggy sometimes and you find the shield facing inward on occasion. Still, this is one of my absolute favorite sword models in the game and I'm so happy I kept it just in case Blizz switched it to "one-hand." Now if they would just make it sheathe on the back, it would be unquestionably the best 1h sword model in the game, IMO.
had this in my bag long forgotten untill 5.3 when all main hand weapons became one hand, this means you can use it on your off hand weapon for DW classes.
So i did BUT the shield on the hand was NOT showed as a mirror with both shield over the hand shown outwards, instead it was turned in and just got a terrible look.
Still it works great for tanks with one hand but DW not that great.
Hey, been farming for this sword for a few weeks now, just realized I could just clear thrash around the Path of Glory to avoid the NPC's killing thrash, then run out and reset :p
Anyway, I've been at it for a bunch of hours now, gotten a few BoE belts and some Patterns, so far no luck tho.
Is there anyone else who's farmed for this 'mog and have some tips about getting it? The starting thrash around the path of glory seems like the best bet, since farming inside the Old God bellies seem too long of a run, any opinions? I'm guessing the drop rate is higher on the tentacles forexample just because, those are the mobs that most people acctually kill.
Cheers for any advice :)
There is trash on either side of the road leading to Morchok that wanders around and gets killed by the NPCs as you push through the middle.
If you push through the middle right away the sides will yield no loot, but if you completely ignore the mobs on the road, and clear the sides first, they can be looted, then if you work your way back up the road from morchok to the instance entrance, you can loot every mob in the area for a better chance at any trash loot.
Im still working on getting the sword, but I managed to get 4 of the BOE belts, a blue BOE bow, and several crafting patterns before getting locked out for entering too many instances.
