This was the 2009 Christmas present, when used all charges it won't be destroyed but it says "no charges left"

Also needed for the achievement (H) BB king and (A) BB king make sure you achieve this achievement before using the charges for fun, as there is no know way to recharge it!

Too bad no Feats of Strength achievement linked with it.

I absolutely love this gift. Personally, I get no satisfaction out of one-shotting newbies. So chasing them around with this gun and doing little to no damage brings me great joy. Great companion when you're running around Azeroth, trying to get your World Explorer Achievement!

Hey little lowbie paladins... Hope you kept this. Sure, it's just a BB, but starting a pull with 2-9 damage beats starting a pull with 2-9 extra mobs you wouldn't have gotten if you could have pulled from range.

(Basing this on my own experience with a paladin and having nothing until I got linken's boomerang, But i suppose it's possibly Blizz snuck in a ranged pull for lowbies while I wasn't looking. >.>)

I was doing this solo on my Orc rogue today.

I started with Exodar. I flew into Zoram Strand and ran to Auberdine from there. Jumped on the Exodar boat and few guards attacked me. I just vanished because I didn't want to take the time. =P I ran down through the back side of Exodar and just stealthed when I got to the guards. The guards here are lvl 75 and sappable. As I was getting to Velen, I sapped the first guard up the stairs on the right, who was 80 elite and sappable still. My first shot stunned me and my second shot hit him. I sprinted away and Vanished. That doesn't work because these guys don't stop with Vanish. I had to kill several guards on my way out, but after I did I started heading for Darnassus.

Same deal here: Jump on boat, Vanish, wait, stealth through city to queen. The guards outside the city are also lvl 75 and sappable (Note for rogues: The pink glow entrance thing does not break stealth). The guards right near Tyrande aren't so bad, being only lvl 75, but if you don't get the first shot off, they will keep attacking you even after Vanish when she runs back. I used Evasion, shot her again, sprinted out, and Vanished again (Preparation).

Next, I went to Stormwind. The guards here are lvl 40 and 65 mostly and can be sapped. The guards in the actual keep, however, are lvl 80 elites with over 25k hp. When you go to shoot the king, do not go into one of the back rooms if you plan on stealthing back out. The 75th lvl guards that attack you when you shoot him keep respawning and keep you in combat (not allowing you to Vanish either). If you do die, like I did, you're going to have to run to your corpse all the way from the eastern most side of Elwynn Forest, Eastvale Logging Camp.

Last is Ironforge. The entrance to Deeprun Tram will knock you out of stealth, but the Deeprun Tram is also not considered part of a city, so you can unflag here. As you enter Ironforge, don't forget to shoot High Tinker Mekkatorque as I almost did - he is for the achievement. Rather than wasting Vanish, you could shoot him and run back to the Deeprun Tram if you liked. Something I liked about Ironforge is that the guards are set very far apart and you could just brute force your way through. The guards here are lvl 75. I missed 3 times on Bronzebeard, so I died, but the mage that is in the room with him will also keeping blasting you after vanish. The corpse run to Ironforge is not too bad; you only have to run from Kharanos. If your vanish doesn't work again, just run back to Deeprun Tram and hearth.

The Red Ryder BB gun was available beginning in 1938 and for many years afterward (and indeed, still is), but never in the exact configuration mentioned in the film. The Daisy "Buck Jones" model did have a compass and a sundial in the stock, but these features were not included in the Red Ryder model. The compass and sundial were placed on Ralphie's BB gun but on the opposite side of the stock due to Peter Billingsley (Ralphie) being left-handed. (from Wikipedia)

I just shot Slyvanas with my gun from last year and its didnt count towards the achieve.

Edit : Having read more into it apparently you can MISS. Make sure that your shot counted!

Does anyone know what the actual range of the Rifle is? Ergo how far away from a target you can stand (or rez, in the case of suicide-runs into enemy cities) and still shoot at them?

Seems I cant manage to shoot my new Rifle! Yes I'm shooting at an enemy! Is this made to be able to shoot only during Winter Veil?

I can confirm that you can progress in this achievement now that this gun is available, even if Winter Veil isn't happening--I just shot Tyrande Whisperwind and got credit for it. Remember that it may take a few shots to hit the leaders since the gun can backfire on you.

Have in mind that you cannot fire the gun if you are close to your target. I got the 'Your target is too close' message a few times when I tried to use it on Muradin, because I think it would be smart to ressurect right next to him so it would take longer for the guards to hit me - but that will not work!
I am not sure of any exact range but just make sure you have a good bit of distance to your target so that does not happen.

Can now be brought in Stormwind Via a gnome (Craggle wobbletop) walking around with a toy cart. I saw him walking around the outside of trade district.

He also has ammo refills and all the other toys from dal.

I have a problem with this... Every time I try to do this gun on one of my horde buddies it says invalid target.

I tried doing it on a chicken.. Didn't work either.

What should I do.. it always says "invalid target"

Here is my plan for the 4.3 FOS achievment for having obtained the Red rider air rifle from 2009, and being one of the few to vendor/delete it from their bank.

First of all, I did delete it, shouldnt have but ohh well, after writing a ticket requesting it back and with no luck, I have decided to do this.

If I dont get the FOS acheivment when 4.3 hits I'll write another ticket saying that I have already earned the achievment BB King and list the date that I got it. It will prove that I earned the achievment before the rifle was available from the vendor. Hopefully they will grant me the FOS based on a techinacially.

This item is sold by Jepetto Joybuzz in the toy store in Dalaran. He sells this along with other vanity items. It seems the only way for non-hunters to fire a gun and personally I like that :D What's more is that it's only 2g and he sells refills !

Really having a hard time getting the correct range. The target is either too far, or quickly runs at me and gets too close before I can get a shot in. Multiple corpse runs ... :op

Hunters, you can shoot this item while you have deterrence active. Makes shooting the leaders for the related Winter Veil achievement, BB King, much easier if you are going at it solo.

I'm surprised no one else has said this yet, but you no longer need to have Red Rider Air Rifle Ammo on you in order to fire the rifle.

I know only because I just tried it out by targeting a hostile mob (some random wolf or bear outside Ironforge) and it fired. Looks like it now has charges built in instead of ammo. This was probably done because of the item being converted to a toy for the Toy Box in 6.0.

Stolen Present is obtained from the Winter Veil daily quest You're a Mean One... (H)/You're a Mean One... (A). It requires you to kill the The Abominable Greench in Hillsbrad Foothills to free Metzen the Reindeer, as well as to recover Stolen Treats, which spawn only after the Greench is killed.
The quest can be done 18 times per character over the course of the Winter Veil holiday. As the level requirement is 80, any alts at or above this level can also do this for another Stolen Present.

Today as of patch 6.2 i got bored and tried the gun, yup it doesn't work on npc's but it does work on critters.
Sometimes it will tag them saying STARTLED "Did someone just shoot at you?"
other times it hits them and yea you can finish the critters off with another shot.
and the best one of all is RIGHT IN THE EYE! "You accidentally shot yourself in the eye, They warned you this would happen"
that shot stuns ya for a few secs
And don't shoot the chickens, they will just attack you.

Fairly useful if you want to pull low level mobs to farm stuff.

· Ranged attack that won´t kill them.
· They'll come to you.
· Loot them at once.

Hi all

On This Christmas Achievement BB King You need to Shoot the enemy leaders.

First You need to buy Red Rider Air Rifle and Red Rider Air Rifle Ammo ( I buy it from Craggle Wobbletop He is walking around The Trade District in Stormwind )

Then You need to find 4 enemy leaders and use on them Red Rider Air Rifle

Enemy leaders:

- Garrosh Hellscream in Orgrimmar inside buldin location in city 48 70
- Lor'themar Theron in Silvermoon City inside bulding, location in city 54 20
- Lady Sylvanas Windrunner in Undercity location in city 58 91 ( enter to Undercity is 50 70.
- Baine Bloodhoof He was on list But now He is in Oribos and you can't use on him Red Rider Air Rifle on 18/12/2020 was removed from lins. But just in case if He will come back on list You can find him in Thunder Bluff 60 51 city location.

The Red Ryder Air Rifle is great for pulling low HP targets. You purchase it from a toy v e n d o r in many places. Some things to note:

It does 0-1 damage and might shoot your eye out.
When it fires, one of 5 things will happen:
Miss the target, but get their attention. This generates no threat and doesn't appear in the combat log. This generates no threat.
Hit the target for 0 damage and get their attention. This generates no threat.
Hit the target for 0 damage and Startle them. This generates no threat.
Hit the target for 1 damage and Pelt them. This generates threat and is the shot required for the achiev ements that say "Pelt"
Backfire instead of shooting, causing a stun effect (Right in the eye!) on you which is actually a buff - so you can just right click it off.

Continuing to shoot a target will keep it engaged, preventing it from resetting while you drag it wherever you'd like. The ammo is limited to 200, but the Red Ryder Ammo Pouch replenishes it back to 200 and can be purchased from the same v e n d o r.

The ammo pouch is unique so you can't hold more than one at a time.
You can however leave a bunch of them in your mailbox or guild bank as with all unique items (I have them in my guild bank and use Mobile Banking.)

This macro will cancel the stun effect for you before shooting, so you can just shoot again when it backfires.

Red Rider Air Rifle still gives the achieve upon purchase. And confirmed that devs restored the requirement to purchase new ammo after the 200 charges are used up.

Red Rider Air Rifle Ammo can be purchased at toy shops in most major cities, and both versions of Dalaran.

The Feast of Winter Veil must be up in order to complete the BB King/BB King achievement.

During the event it can also drop from any version of Stolen Present (2022's list not yet available if ever updated again).

As I do with World Events... I've made an AddOn, which I uploaded to Curse, and it gives a ton of information about completing this World Event.

If you do care to download then I hope that you found it useful. Players unfamiliar with the layout of opposing capital cities will especially like my BB King information.
