Rusty Queenfish Brooch allows you to see and fish from Ghostly Queenfish schools in Azsuna. It grants the buff Rusty Queenfish Brooch, which lasts for 5 minutes.

When the schools spawn, you can fish from one as long as the Rusty Queenfish Brooch buff is up - these schools do not despawn (they can't be "fished out").

A good place to fish up this bait (and to find pools of Ghostly Queenfish after you use it) is the water around Narthalas Academy. Some of these pools are in the middle of the water and require some kind of water walking to reach!

There are a number of Rare fish in Legion, and items (bait or otherwise) that will help you catch them.
The Rare fish and items to catch them are zone specific (although some are obtainable on any shoreline of the Broken Isles).

Rare Fish

There are 18 rare fish coming in Legion that can be fished up. Each rare fish grants +5 to Fishing skill when used, consuming it in the process.

There are 3 Rare fish per zone, and 3 that can be caught on any coastal waters.
These can be fished up from a Fishing skill of 1, so this can be an effective way to power level Fishing.
Catching one of the rare fish listed below while fishing will grant the achievement A Cast Above the Rest. Catching them all will grant the achievement Bigger Fish to Fry, which is a requirement to get the Underlight Angler Fishing Artifact Weapon.
All Rare fish are Bind on Pickup.
If you are fishing with the Underlight Angler equipped, you will obtain a DIFFERENT version of each rare fish that grants Artifact Power instead of Fishing skill (e.g. you would fish up Coldriver Carp instead of Coldriver Carp)

Note that this does not retroactively apply to rare fish you obtained before getting the Artifact - the only use for these short of maxing fishing skill is vendoring for a decent chunk of change.

Fishing Bait and Items

Some of the items that help you catch Rare fish will spawn and NPC that grants a fishing buff; others contain bait, or spawn NPCs that drop bait.

All fishing bait buffs last for 2 minutes once used (except for Rusty Queenfish Brooch and Ancient Vrykul Ring, which last 5 minutes each).
All buffs last the full duration, except for Moosehorn Hook, which expires as soon as you catch a bait.
Almost all baits can be bought/sold on the Auction House. Use this if you are having trouble with a particular fish!

The exception to this is the Stunned, Angry Shark, which has a 1 minute duration in your inventory.

All baits are Unique, meaning you can only carry one. The further caveat to this is that you WILL NOT catch any bait that is currently in your inventory!

This can be used to your advantage if you are looking for a particular bait in a zone - by having certain baits in your bags, you will ensure you do not catch them again.
If you are wanting to obtain multiples of the same bait, you can put baits on the Auction House, mail them to an alt, or put them into a Guild Bank or Guild Bank Tab that only you have access to. This will allow you to catch the same bait again.

A portable mailbox like MOLL-E (Engineering) or GUMM-E (from the Draenor garrison Engineering Workshop) is a huge boon when doing this out in the field!

It is worthwhile saving some rare fish bait, in order to level Artifact Power on your Underlight Angler if and when you get it.

(9) Ancient Vrykul Ring is an item that is required to see Oodelfjisk pools in Stormheim.
(10) Message in a Beer Bottle contains Axefish Lure when opened.
(11) Using Stunned, Angry Shark will spawn a Landlocked Shark, which will yield Seabottom Squid when killed. Using it on land makes it much less dangerous than in water (hits quite hard).
(12) Decayed Whale Blubber is an item that attracts flies - Ravenous Fly can be looted from these.

I got the broach and caught enough of those fish to put my fishing skill from 700 up to 750. Levelling fishing was never so quick.

Do I have to be level 105 (not fishing level-- actual level) in order to start catching the lures?
Some of the guides list the zones as being 105 to 110.

This was the last of the baits from Azsuna for me, and the droprate seemed fairly low. I received 3 Slimes and 5 Conches before I got the necklace. I got it out of a fishing pool near the walruses by Illidari Stand.

Hope this helps some people. I'm unsure if it drops outside of fishing pools, so just stick to them to be safe.

you're guaranteed to fish up at least 13, wich does make this a target for quick levelers.

I fished for this item in a river with the arcane lure on just above Nar'Thalas. Took a while but got 2 before I got the Conch.

So when you finally manage to get this item, there are schools directly under the words Nar'Thalas Academy.
Don't bother looking around in the rivers because there's nothing there (I checked to my frustration).

I just fished this up at coordinates 53 35. near the Academy waters. A regular pool spawns there. I used the brooch and a Ghostly Queenfish Pool spawned. Managed to fish up 12x Ghostly Queenfish before the pool despawned.

I just Fished This inside Nar'thalas Academy, (Little Pool Below the Pillar) after fishing for a couple of hours outside, 3rd Cast, went outside used the Brooch, looked for a Ghostly pool, fished in that, got 14 Ghostly Queen Fish, and 1 Pearlescent Conch, and then used the conch, and in open water caught a Nar'thalas Hermit.

This item will last longer and longer the more you level your Underlight Angler.

Originally this item has about a 5 min buff time but at my current level (11) I get 10 min to fish for Ghostly Queens. I can get about 40 in that time.

When I fished my first one up and used it all the pools I could find where too far away from away fishing spot. Had to get some sort of Waterwalking to get to them.
That was to the north of Narthalas Academy and stupid me went further east to find more schools.

This was the last part that I needed for the achievement, and I farmed only this for 3 hours.
Tried everywhere in Azsuna, from schools, from little pools, from bigger lakes, from rivers, no drop...

Then I decided to go to Drowned Gardens (48, 35) where I havent been before, found a Cursed Queenfish School, and brooch dropped on the first try from that.

Then I used it, and found one Ghostly school "under the Nar'thalas Academy" text (around 53,35), and from that ghostly school I got an other brooch...

This is by far the fastest way to pump artifact power into your fishing rod. You can get at least 10 fish with this lure which is 500 artifact power, and that is if you are slow. I managed to get 22 fish with one of these lures. The lure lasts for 5 minutes but take a look at #5 on my list below.

Things to keep in mind:
1. Once the lure is on, you can fish out of the same pool as many times as you want without the pool ever depleting.
2. This lure is available to purchase off of the auction house if you are not lucky enough to fish one up. (They are going for around 4000g)
3. You use the lure in Aszuna.
4. You absolutly NEED the Underlight Angler equipped in order to get the fish that grants the 50 artifact power.
5. The more you power up your artifact fishing pole, the longer your lure lasts! I now have 2 golden traits and my baits are lasting 10 minutes rather than only 5 minutes. (This got me 44 fish with one lure!)

So for those of us who are doing the artifact rare fish and need this to get out of Azsuna and still find the current info on this page completely lacking i hope i can add to it a little.

The brooch does not only drop from queenfish schools, you can fish for it in the normal waters in the zone. It has a lower drop rate then the skrog toenail and Conch. Use an arcane lure to get the best chance.

I just started fishing in the northern side of the academy waters with an arcane lure, got the brooch within 30 minutes of fishing but please do not use it as a guideline, it is totally random and can can take either longer or shorter to drop.

When it drops it gives a buff like the other items but this one allows you to see schools of ghostly queenfish. Like mentioned on this page there are schools spread out over the map, there do not seem to be a lot of them at the coast.

If you get the brooch, head towards the academy in the middle of the map above the illidari stand flight point, there are two schools that spawn on the northern side of the academy water and they will spawn in the midde so you need something like water walking or the raft to reach those particular spots.

The brooch buff is also 5 MINUTES unlike the others, so you can chain fish from the ghost queenfish pools for that time, the fish stack so no worry having to click them every time.

*small edit for people with the mining profession. The waters north of the academy have two spawns of leystone and felstone seams that do regenerate when fishing.

After going about for 40minutes searching after schools of Cursed Queenfish, I decided to take a break and just try fishing in open water in the tiny lake, /way Azsuna 44 30.

Surprisingly, got the brooch after 10 tries using an Arcane Lure. It's possible even without pools!

I've rearranged the list to the achievement order, to make it easier to compare what you're missing on alts and find the bait. Just hover over the second shield in Bigger Fish to Fry to see the list on your achieves. Copy to notepad, then just indent with a couple spaces on the ones you already have, and indent the rest as you go along getting more.

If the buff runs out while your bobber is in the Ghostly Queenfish school, the school will despawn and you will not get a Ghostly Queenfish from that cast.

This is the macro I use when farming Cursed Queenfish to level my Underlight Angler. This also works for Oodelfijsk if you're fishing in Stormheim, just have to change the "/cast Cursed Queenfish" to "/cast Oodelfijsk".

When you use this macro, it will consume any Cursed Queenfish you have in your inventory and cast the line in the same global because Fishing has no global cooldown. This allows you to make the most of each Rusty Queenfish Brooch because you won't have to worry about inventory space as the artifact power granting rare fish do not stack like the ones fished without the fishing artifact. I also added in the Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat because I have it, you can adjust it as you need to based on what fishing modifiers you have.

A pool spawned for me at 53.7, 35.2 when I used the brooch - you'll need water walking or a raft to get to it.

You can fish it for the full 5 minute length of the buff; it won't despawn until the buff wears off.

You can almost max out your Underlight Angler AP in one sitting without ever moving with this lure, It gives a 5 minute lure buff and you get another Rusty Queenfish Brooch after a few casts. The pools never run out of fish and are always in the same spot. They also give the AP fish each and every cast. I stood on a rock in the water at 54.80,36.50 in Azsuna and maxed my fishing pool's AP in one sitting.
A few tips, the more traits you have unlocked the longer the lures last. Use Arcane Lure to increase your chance to fish up another lure by allot. Also when you fish up another Rusty Queenfish Brooch immediately mount up on your vendor mount and sell it, as you can only hold one at a time. This lets you get around that, so when you need to refresh the Rusty Queenfish Brooch buff again buy the oldest Brooch back on the vendor and rebuff.

probably one of the two best lures (along with the ancient vrykul ring) to farm fishing skills or artifact power for your underlight angler (fishing artifact). because:

1: 5 min buff (other lures are only 2 mins each)
2: guarenteed drop for rare fish (either +5 skill or 50 AP). the others only has a chance to drop a rare fish
3: schools of cursed queenfish dont deplete, so u dont have to swap fishing places once u find a school.
4: still a chance for other lures to drop. remember you can only carry one of each, so a portable mailbox/argent gruntling comes in handy in order to mail the newly found lures to other chars.

Spent about 8 hours on this achievement so far, I thought I was doing really well at first, Azsuna being the last place I fished I spent about 2 hours on the achievement before I just needed the ghostly queenfish. I have spent about 6 hours on this lure alone, still no luck been using arcane lures the entire time.

I didn't see this information here (sorry if I overlooked it), but something I learned today was extremely helpful for me.

You can vendor these to your mount and buy them back as you need them. If you don't end up needing them, you can mail them to your bank toon (or wherever) one at a time and sell them on the AH or use them later. For farming purposes, this is super helpful because if you don't happen to get one, you can buy it back from the vendor mount, essentially allowing you to keep going.

I highly recommend the Arcane Lure, though I think that anyone doing this already knows that.

The only other comment I want to make is to make sure you have the Underlight Angler equipped BEFORE using the lure because of the talent Way of the Flounder (this allows the duration of the lure to last longer per 8% per talent purchased on the pole).

These just wont drop for me. I've fished in over 40 pools with arcane lure and got so many of the other Azuna lures... any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

The arcane lure is a joke, I have used heaps of them and hardly caught any bait. At this rate my chances of ever catching a Rusty Queenfish Brooch aren't looking good.

Just my two cents, this is the lowest drop rate in terms of fishing rares. Of course rng can mean you get one first cast but always this one takes FOREVER to fish up. If you are at Narthalas Academy you do not need to fish only in pools too get this, you can just find a spot and sit there. Drop rates are just low, but you can help yourself target just this by having a pearlescent conch and a skrog toenail in your bag. I don't think you can have multiples at once.

After returning to the game and trying this, I was frustrated to realise I already had some of the lures in my bank, and as they are unique, I ended up wasting too much time fishing for nothing. This macro will check if you have an item hidden away in your bags or bank.

For your consideration when farming...

Go to location 54,36 You can stand up (if you don't have water walking or your raft)... use your rusty queenfish brooch, your pool will be right in front of you....

Fish you heart out but when you fish up a lure, summon your Traveling Tundra Mammoth, and sell the it to the vendor. As they are unique you then can fish up another. I often get another brooch or two while the buff is still running. Under a 12 minute buff, I have caught all three lures... and more than a few times I have gotten multiple brooches. If by chance you don't receive another brooch... buy it back from your vendor. At one point in little over an hour I had 5 brooches sitting on the vendor. I ended up mailing them to a bank toon and kept on fishing.

Came in here just to make sure you don't waste as many hours as me. For other rare fish I was fishing in open water quite a lot (not in pools) and it didn't seem to make much of a difference. For this specific bait though, the Rusty Queenfish Brooch, I spent hours without getting any luck. After moving to pools I managed to get it within half an hour or so.

Also, make sure to look for Ghostly Queenfish Pools when you have activated the bait. I was fishing in Cursed Queenfish Pools and wasted hours since I didn't get the rare fish and had to look for the bait again.

Circulating around Nar'Thalas Academy (with the raft) and up the river towards 43,30 seemed the most effective for me when doing this one.

Once the route is imported, cluster the route if you choose. The spawn points vary along the route for each character, but they do lock in for that character
(I.E. Stay in one spot for extended periods as long as you're lucky enough to keep fishing up the lure while you're there)

I thought I could save some gold and some time by not buying Rusty Queenfish Brooch (it was perma-selling for 30k)
as it was the last one I was missing but as you'll see, I was VERY wrong.

Location: Several spots around Nar'thalas Academy, just to (copium) see if any one spot would be luckier than another.
