One of the old Justice Point heirlooms, which are being reintroduced with 6.1. It is currently sold by Estelle Gendry (H) and Krom Stoutarm (A) for 650g.

Both vendors sell all of the old Justice Point and heirlooms, including the new necklaces and upgrading tokens:

- Shoulders: 500g
- Necklaces: 700g
- Trinkets: 700g
- One-Handed weapons: 650g
- Ranged & Two-Handed weapons: 750g
- Shields & Off-Hands: 500g

This would give you very good reusable dual-wielding weapons for leveling a Shaman, Rogue, Warrior, & Death Knight.
The only class you could not reuse this weapon for dual wield leveling would be a Hunter.

Depending on what remaining classes you would like to level up, 2 of these maces could likely be the best all-around choice over the daggers or swords if you need to be frugal with your badges, shards, seals, etc. They might not be the optimal stats for each class or spec, but they are certainly viable while leveling.

You could quite easily level every class with 2 Venerable Mass of McGowan, 1 Bloodied Arcanite Reaper, 1 Dignified Headmaster's Charge, and 1 Charmed Ancient Bone Bow.

Too bad Blizz picked this item for their heirloom mace. I would have much rather seen either a Beautiful & Unique Fight Club or a Magnetized Mallet of Zul'Farrak (even though the mallet was not always an equippable weapon, nearly every pre-TBC player had one in their bank)

In general, from what I've seen of heirloom weapons, they will usualy be on-par with a blue item within 1-2 levels below the current level of the character. So while if you do get a dropped item at-lvl and itemized for your class, it will once again be better to use the heirloom a lvl or 2 later.

also, scrolls of weapon enchants are still useable on heirloom weapons.. confirmed personaly with a +7 weapon dmg chant on a weapon vellum 1.. not sure if the Outland and Northrend chants work.. but the old Azeroth ones will stick.

This thing has 120 some DPS, but now needs its stats changed too. I really hope Blizz finds out about its OP stats to match its lower DPS. Otherwise, i wasted on the Venerable Dal'rend's Sacred Charged b/c of this mace.

I believe you're going to buy it with either Emblems of Conquest or Champion's Seals, depending on who you're talking to.

There's a vendor at the Argent Tournament who sells heirlooms to people with the Crusader title for Champion's Seals, while the guys at Dalaran will probably either have the new heirlooms added to their entourage or another vendor will be implemented for them, either way they'll probably cost Conquest emblems due to the way they're changing emblems next patch.

Edit: Any reason why you guys are downranking? At least provide some info about how I'm wrong before downranking.

Edit: As of the release of Patch 3.2.0, it is official that there is a NEW vendor at Dalaran who now has ALL heirlooms, and sells them for Heroism emblems.

I'm almost inclined to think the damage will be reduced, unless i am missing something this BoA item is better then or equal to all 10 man naxx and most of 10 man ulduar weapons(barring hard modes) in terms of raw damage output. The only downside would be the inability to enchant it with proper 80 enchants. Still though, the thing has more top end then Calamity's Grasp.

Don't suppose it really matters though, with the new dungeons naxx is going to be easier then kara was at the end of BC, and Ulduar hardmodes will likely be taking on the same aspect that timed ZA runs had.

Hi, I am an enhancement shaman. Is there any reason to get two of these rather than two Grimhorn Crushers?

I don't raid, PVP, or do many instances, so my gear options are limited to what I can get solo. I am also not great at figuring this stuff out, so forgive my ignorance. I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Can anyone think of a reason that this costs 15 Champions seals more than Dal'rend's (75 vs 60) but the heroic badge cost is the same for the each(40 padges per)?

wowhead seems to be mixing up the stats. This is the stats for 2h weapons. On the 2h weapons they list stats for caster weapons. And on caster weapons it lists stats for 1h melee weapons. Just bugged for now

I'm not sure if this is still relevant, but a while ago, there were a few shaman healers that were dual-wielding to get two spellpower weapons. Blizzard responded by nerfing all spellpower weapons to be main-hand only. This, however, is a weapon that can be used in the off-hand, so it does in fact change that again. Does it matter? probably not. I imagine talents have changed quite a bit since then but it's a bit of interesting trivia.

I just had to disagree with an above poster. It might be easier to buy heirloom items with the champions seals, but unless you were already exalted with all your faction's major cities, it can be quite a pain to unlock the Vendor(imo way too much bs to do just to be able to use a vendor) to be able to use the champion's seals on heirloom items. Anyways, I just did pick up 2 of these for my shaman and haven't got to use them yet as my shaman is just 32 atm, just did decide to start leveling a shamy a couple days ago, can't wait until I can dual wield as I've heard its a ball.

After the shoulders and chest, this should be your next priority for leveling an enhancement shaman. Ideally, you want to have two by the time you hit 40 and get dual-wield.

The BEST strategy from 1-40 would be to use a 2h heirlooms, either the Bloodied Arcanite Reaper or the Repurposed Lava Dredger. However, if you don't have one of these sitting around -- or you aren't keen on purchasing one for your shaman when it will only see 40 levels of use -- one of these, combined with a nice shield, will do very well for getting you through most of 1-40 (while its twin waits in the bank for the light of day).

The reason is that, unless you're willing to spend gobs of money constantly updating your weapon with twink pieces and other assorted rares, the dps on this weapon as a 1 hander is better than any 2h you can reasonably acquire on the auction house.

I find that MOST green "of the x" 2h weapons have 10 level tiers -- so that you'll find a new selection of green weapons with a level requirement of 11, 21, 31, etc. At the required level -- i.e. at 21 -- the mass is only slightly behind the new green weapons, usually something on the order of half a point of dps. Then, as it scales throughout the next 10 levels, it quickly exceeds the 2handers.

From 1-31, when you're using rockbiter or flametongue, the speed/damage range of the weapon doesn't matter so much. As a result, I think you'll find using a mass with a premium enchant (crusader, lifestealing, fiery, +15 agility) along with a shield will be more convenient and better for most of those 30 levels.

The one exception to this strategy is that when you hit 31, you really want to get a 2hander because the damage range will be more favorable for your new windfury weapon. But, by the time you get to 35-36, you'll find the scaling on the mass has gone up enough that the damage range once again favors using it with a shield for the last 5 levels before dual wield.

Then at 40, pop out your 2nd mass of mcgowan, and enjoy 30+ levels as a hammer twirling god of death!

i ended up buying this with badges and getting the trinket with the seals, rather that wasting the 15 seals on this from crusader vendor.

That post deserves to be marked up (it was at zero). The cost comparison for the Mass vs Trinket:

If you are trying to max out your BoA purchases using both badges and seals then it is a total waste of 15 Champion's Seals to buy a Venerable Mass with them. Use badges for this weapon.

Wowwiki is oversimplifying things by assuming that the only leveling spec for warriors is fury, and the only leveling spec for paladins is retribution. The random dungeon finder makes it easier to level as alternate specs. And, as you'll see, it's really a matter of spec.

Warriors

Levels 1-9, no spec yet: You should be using a two-handed weapon. Thus this is not a good option.
Levels 10-80, Protection: This weapon makes a fine weapon for leveling a protection warrior, either solo or in dungeons. Pair it with a good shield and go.
Levels 10-80, Arms: Arms is designed entirely around wielding a two-handed weapon. Pass on this and go pick up a Bloodied Arcanite Reaper instead.
Levels 10-19, Fury: These two specs have no compelling reason to wield a one-handed weapon and shield, so you should continue to wield two-handed weapons until...
Levels 20-59, Fury: At level 20, Fury warriors can start dual-wielding one-handed weapons. At this point, dual-wielding the Venerable Mass of McGowan (or Venerable Dal'Rend's Sacred Charge, or Battleworn Thrash Blade) becomes an option. It's not an especially good one; you may want to wait until level 25 (first level you can get to Dual Wield Specialization) or 30 (Precision). However, this is only viable for Fury for this range, because at 60...
Levels 60-80, Fury: Titan's Grip is available. Take it. Take it. At this point dual-wielding one-handed weapons immediately becomes less preferable compared to, say, swinging around two Bloodied Arcanite Reapers.

Paladins

Levels 1-9, no spec yet: Much like warriors, you'll breeze through these levels with a two-handed weapon.
Levels 10-80, Protection: Again, much like prot warriors, this makes a fine tanking weapon for leveling as prot. Pair it with a nice shield. Have a nice day.
Levels 10-80, Holy: I guess you could wield this, but it's kind of silly to do so. If you're leveling Holy, you're more than likely leveling through healing random 5-mans, and unfortunately (since paladins are barred from using staffs), your only options are the Blessed Hammer of Grace or Devout Aurastone Hammer. Get one of those instead.
Levels 10-80, Retribution: Like Arms, this is built around wielding a two-handed weapon. Might I show you something in our Bloodied Arcanite Reaper line of heirlooms?

Why on earth has the cost of heirlooms skyrocketed in patch 4.0.1? They used to cost a large number of Emblems of Heroism which took a while to amass any excess of other badges to convert. Now with only a month or so to go before Cata release when people have little to do other than level alts, they suddenly cost at least 4x more than before!

The justification given is that at 85 we will miraculously be earning so many points that level 80 items become supercheap. Except I fail to see what possible justification or relevance this has to a level 80 trying to purchase level 80 items who does not own the Cataclysm expansion and furthermore Cataclysm is still many weeks away from release!

Its even more unfair to those who had been stockpiling badges to use for heirlooms and were just short of them before purchase.

Venerable Mass of McGowan is, in my honest opinion, the best rogue/Enh Shaman heirloom, and you probably won't need a replacement until you're level 80 (even then, it can last you until 82, despite having WoTLK stats). Even a fury warrior could benefit from this. Sure, there's no strength, but the stats are wicked, and atleast ANY melee dual-wielder who can wield maces should have at least one of them.

Infact, these are so good, these are the Second in Slot item for level 19 twinks. Usually a placeholder until they can get Shadowfang, and even then, this rips crud up.

If you're a Rogue or Enh shaman, 15 Agility on both would be amazing. If you're a fury warrior, Crusader, or Strength would be awesome too. 15 Agil does give crit, which is nice for a fury warrior.

This item is pretty much... a beast. You'll be one shotting things without using a spell/ability until like, level 10. And even then, you pretty much 2 shot things.

Even a feral druid (If you can't afford the 2H mace loom), can benefit from this, as well. ^_^

I didn't take it off until level 82.

Formula: Enchant 2H Weapon - Agility and Formula: Enchant Weapon - Agility are the premiere enchants for MoP monks. Get the heirloom Burnished Warden Staff with the 2H enchant, or two Venerable Mass of McGowan with the 1H enchant.

Note that having a pair of enchanted Venerable Mass of McGowan gives you +30 Agility, while the enchanted staff only gets +25. It's not a major difference, so pick whichever heirloom suits your playstile.

As of 5.4 you can now use all weapon enchants. At lower levels enchants scale down for the content a player will be going through so high level enchants will not be broken for pve and pvp content alike. One of the new Bind to Account maces, the Crushing Mass of McGowan, replaces the previous Venerable Mass of McGowan. You will need 2175 Justice Points and the Venerable Mass of McGowan in your bags. Please note, however, that the updated version does not increase any stats for the levels of 1-80, but instead the new mace continues scaling past level 80 to level 85.

You will, of course, need to enchant the new mace since the previous mace has been destroyed in the purchasing process.

I know some people feel that Bind to Account weapons are unnecessary in the leveling grind, since they do not offer an experience bonuses; but you have to remember that, when you are able to kill the creatures swiftly, you will go through the majority of quests and dungeons at an increased rate, which directly transfers to a quicker leveling process! The fact that this particular weapon scales through 80-85 will allow you to get through the Cataclysm zones without much hassle or need to search for a new weapon until level 86!

As I see it these will be pretty much pointless to get, not only the weapons but all the items. They'll be useful at 81 just like the other level 85 capped heirlooms, then you can just buy the 82-83 mop greens that are vastly superior and will have you tearing through quests like mad to 85. I'd say just take the time you'd take on farming the JP and/or Honor for the desired looms and use that to farm on a main for more than enough money to buy the mop greens and you'll be much better set and get much faster experience gain through brute force of overwhelming next-expansion stats.
