This is an utterly brilliant guide - no pun intended.

I guess I'll be spending the pre-pre-patch time stockpiling old enchanting and crafting mats so I can knock these out on my enchanter ASAP.

Comment by alpha5099

Weapon Illusions were maybe my favorite part of WoD, and a big part of what got me to switch my main to enchanting (didn't have a max level enchanter, seemed like I might as well while she had the building there). I'm so excited they're expanding the system in Legion, and I will stock up to craft all of these the moment they go live.

Comment by Torntuska

I have a question, Will enchants we alrdy have turn into illusions? Do you have to be an enchanter to get/make them? Are they account wide?

If anyone knows anything some clarification would be much appreciated.

Comment by Adaelus

I made a google sheet for keeping track of everything needed and what is required for each of the Tomes that you learn via Enchanting.

Comment by Athlonwolf

Outstanding guide! I give you an A+ keep up the good work and you could go far!

Comment by 1645455

So how is this going to work with Ahune? It says he drops one of the enchants, but the pre-expansion patch will be out after he is gone? is he going to drop it anyhow or are we waiting til next year?

Comment by Galahfray

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems hunters are yet again left out... (Polearms don't count because those should never be a hunter weapon)

Comment by 928687

Tome of Illusions: Draenor crafted from Tome of Illusions: Draenor, source unknown.

Horde: Yukla Greenshadow (Enchanting Hut @garrison) sells Formula: Tome of Illusions: Draenor for 1 Secret of Draenor Enchanting
Alliance: Check out Ayada the White at your garrison!

Bought it there recently on PTR.

Comment by Mountandrew

Waiting for a multicolored illusion to come out like the Chromatic Sword has...

Comment by vesuvan5

So will enchanter's be able to sell the books to people who don't have enchanting?

Comment by Entrophius

Sadly none of these illusions, neither new nor old can be applied to artifact skins

I guess I better buy all those old world mats from the ah now before the pre-patch comes out since I bet their price will jump up a lot after.

I would love to know what the music is in the video. I checked the comments of the YouTube video, nothing. If anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it. ♥

Comment by Neodarkmatter

In regards to the class specific ones can only that class be able to get the drop and learn it or will anyone be able to learn it but only that class can use it on their weapon?

Comment by theASCHE360

Question, does the Illusion: Rune of Razorice or the Illusion: Windfury drop for Shammies and DKs only? or can be looted and learned by anyone and just be used with those 2 classes?

Comment by Mikalion

So I'm going to go ahead and assume that, as usual, hunters are left out in the cold regarding illusion enchants. WTF Blizz.

EDIT: Wow. Downvoted for bringing up a fact. WTF Wowhead Commenters.

Comment by Felfaadaern

I am not seeing my all-time favorite weapon enchant: Hurricane. I believe it was from the Cataclysm era. Has anyone heard anything about it being available?

Comment by Ametrine

Personally, I'm wondering what that "Fel infused weapon" one comes from...

Comment by ghostrider35

I was wondering are these unlocked per character or are they unlocked account wide?

Comment by ahunter8056

Are the weapon illusions that drop from bosses a 100% drop chance?

Comment by perbrethil

Is it me, or are the standard illusions you get in your wardrobe incredibly not visible?

Comment by sezz

Illusions also drop in LFR and can be coined!

Comment by nisx

Sadly you cannot run LFR multiple times per week for higher chances. Only 1 kill per week per character.

Comment by QuartrDollarKing

You can get all the Motes of Mana you need from the magic mobs in Karazhan which you will probably be running many times for the dropped illusions in that raid.

Comment by Adelline

This is a fantastic guide, thank you!

I just wanted to mention that Agility, a green glow appearance, is also available by default (at least, it was for me, it could be tied to something).

Comment by stpaul

So you want to farm these on Shaman

Comment by Andranarex

Made my own little https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DKlnPRl6s8fzHy5MBwHCFBg5LOaw5J-UUHBOp_GTLTw/edit?usp=sharing to make farming "easier". You're welcome to use it too! It's more or less based on the best or easiest way to get the required materials for each Illusion.

Comment by 539594

@Op: you forgot the glorious tyranny in your list
Oh and btw, you can open a ticket and ask a gm to unlock the illusions even if you don't have them in your bags anymore

Comment by Grayswindir

Have they still not fixed the Holy enchant that Bliz took out of the game b/c they haven't fixed it?

Comment by Roddox

The illusions are not 100% incase anyone was wondering. Im guessing they are 10%ish drop. So far im farming all of them on my alts, yet 5 characters in the Nefarion, sha nor the Ulduar scrolls have dropped. Keep trying.

Comment by Unforgvn

I have been playing this game for 11 years now and up until patch 7.0 I had EVERY enchant ever in the game (even the nolonger available ones) and now I see that I not only lost some of those but have go REFARM them all over again just for the illusions. That is just a major kick in the arse to all enchanters that spent time getting those hard to get enchants. /end rant

Comment by 1039117

Are the enchants unique to each character or do they become account wide once you learn them?

Comment by argogruelin

I have enchanting huts on most of my toons, but only 3 enchanters (of 22 toons) I only need to unlock them on 1 toon to add to my book but if someone else wants to use my enchant hut to unlock the looks on their toons do they have to go get them too? Now do I have to learn enchanting on my shaman for frostbrand and then that look is only available to my other shaman? I think this is the only part of the transmog thing they messed up. it's just convoluted to hell and back.

Comment by billymm

great guide TY for putting together. note: some will only drop for shaman/DK - I didnt realise this when I started farming for them.

Comment by Stripe

Anyone else notice this? I've crafted the new tomes for Legion and learned them on my Enchanter. If my Enchanter goes to the transmog page I don't have the option to change my weapon illusion using a transmogrifier. I have to go to my garrison, go to my Chanting shack, and use the NPC with dust to change the illusion.

On ANY other character without Enchanting, I can use any transmogrifier anywhere, and change my weapon illusion with gold.

Am I missing something here? I've turned off all addons and its still that way for my Enchanter.

Comment by Anganamar

Just got my my Mark of the Shattered Hand (Kargath Bladefist) from bonus roll, so I guess this confirms it that you can also get them from bonus roll.

Comment by Felweed

I do not see it mentioned here, but I will go ahead and add in.

If you've already learned the new Illusions, you don't have to risk using up another tome anymore! Now, once you have already learned one, you'll get a prompt that you've learned all the illusions for that tome. There's still no flavor text to provide you with that knowledge, but it's much better than accidentally *relearning* an illusion, like in the first week or so.

I don't know when they fixed this/added this neat lil feature.

Comment by Bababooeyhs

Are these account wide? (Only have to collect them on one character)

Comment by 1642689

How can i mog land slide?

Comment by Waterfuzz

You can buy all the Illusion tomes on AH and collect the remaining Illusion scrolls from various bosses and reputation vendors without even having Enchanting as your profession.

Comment by Septh

It seems some weapons models cannot get an illusion. For exemple, when I mog'ed my staff to Frostscythe of Lord Ahune the button for applying the illusion disapeared. I guess this is because the Frostscythe model already has a glowing effect.

Comment by DarthEnder

*sigh*

Nothing for the sweet black effect that's on Blade of Eternal Darkness?

Comment by Kahllen

So, are these just completely unusable with Artifact weapons? Seems pretty lame to release all these and then just not even have them be usable on the artifact skins...

Comment by MiloTheElver

Now, i'm trying to hold back my frustration right now, but why the *no goody word* are bows unable to get an illusion. It was hard enough for me to accept, as a main beast mastery, to be pidgeon holed into being forced to use an artifact GUN, with the only available bow appearance, looking like something a pandaren/tauren engineer would make. Though i got over it and simply just accepted that if i wanted to be a Beast Mastery hunter with a bow, i had to transmog into something old and less fancy and new. But now this... WHY, just WHY would they do this. i just used 800 gold in the auction house, just to get the illusion i liked, thinking that now i could at least have a little bit of the new stuff, but NO. Now i know that there probably will be someone (not now that i type this though) telling me how i could just use the BM artifact bow appearance, or simply play Marksmanship, well to that, all i have to say, how would you feel if the closest you could ever get to your dream transmog set, was with the exact opposite of what you wanted. now please Blizz, at least give bows the possibility to get an illusion.

With that, i will go and use my artifact weapon transmoged into a weapon from Cataclysm, shooting arrows of my tears ;-;

Comment by 884284

I really wonder why Blizzard does such things like this. Played for around 10 years, and my main was my "pride and joy", with close to 100 % of all enchants in the game. Without no reason I`m back to the "stone-ages" again, together with youth who haven't played it for more than weeks.

Looking back to Vanilla were players sacrificed much for professions, since it was a major part of the game. These days it seems like Blizzard aiming to ruin it totally.

Personally this is a shame, and some employee at Blizzard should explain why they have taken this insane decision, and inform us if there is a logical reason behind it.

Comment by 630001

What is Titanguard (the last illusion in yellow)

Comment by Lestatt

We cannot use any of these weapon illusions on Artifact weapons right?

Comment by Rekall91

I have a weird bug where I learn the tome (I bought the same tome and made the same tome with the same results) and it doesnt get added, eventhough i dont have it yet. Also, with any tome i alrdy learned it doesnt say that i alrdy learned it, so i can buy the same one and learn it.....

Comment by Solaris

This may be a random question, but to get the bosses to drop these illusions do you have to beat the boss on a toon with enchanting or just anyone?

Comment by 1697072

Woot I did not even know that this was a thing! Thanks!

Comment by Dahrkmezalf

Illusion transmogs are one of the most fun and thematic additions to the transmog system. They can give a subtle flair to your overall look/class/spec, be eccentric light shows, or something in-between.
That said, here are a few notes:

- Artifact Weapon skins won't accept an Illusion transmog. They're already unique enough, so hush :P.

- Some weapons, such as Dignified Headmaster's Charge or Speedsteel Rapier have natural "illusion" effects, so you can't add a custom Illusion to them.

- Many Illusions are easy to obtain via Expansion-themed "Tomes of Illusion" or by Reputation Vendors. Boss-drop Illusions (Blood Draining, Chronos, Nightmare, etc.) usually have an extremely low drop rate. Good luck!

- There are a handful of "secret" Illusions. These include rewards from past PvP Seasons, as well as the Shaman-only Illusions of Rockbiter, Flametongue, Frostbrand, and Windfury; also the Rogue-only Illusion of Poison.

- Currently, the only Illusion that changes color is Power Torrent - it alternates between fiery red and purple colors.

Comment by alpanhell

How do you find out what illusions you have? What illusions you're missing?

Comment by Iledelph

Illusion: Flames of Ragnaros from Stolen Present in 2016? It was originally from the Molten Core anniversary ....

Can someone help a noob out. I have been enchanter all of SL and is my only played xpac so far, I just went to the enchanting trainer in Orgrimar and they don't have the tome learnable even if I filter by "unavailable" or "not-collected" are these still in the game and hidden from view until I train my oldschool enchanting skills. I don't want to waste time running old dungeons albeit easy in an effort to get something thats not available anymore.

Comment by paladriel

Some additions:

Illusion: Void Edge drops from Corrupted Chest

Illusion: Sunfire also drops from Shade of Medivh in Legion Karazhan

Comment by Lickmycritt

Is Power Torrent not account bound?

Comment by b923

Why in the world would they not make it so applying an enchant gives you the transmog as well? Not cool.
