Timeless Coins are extremely plentiful on the Timeless Isle, and can be obtained from many different sources. Several of the daily quests award varying amounts, from 100 from answering trivia questions in A Timeless Question, to 1000 from defeating Little Tommy Newcomer in a pet battle. They also drop off of almost everything on the island (with, of course, the usual "Harder enemies = more" rule in place), and can be looted out of the chests.

Also, one amusing thing I've noticed...Thier currency ID number is 777.

Timeless coins are the new currency used for patch 5.4 Timeless Isle. They are used for ilvl 496 gear that can be traded to alts, as well as some other goods (more on this below).

They are obtained from a variety of sources, such as:

One-time quests:
You will get a lot of one-time quests once you arrive at the Timeless Isle, and they award just over 10 000 coins in total. Some quests can take a long time to complete, so don't expect to get them all done the first day.

Looting enemies:
Looting Timeless Coins from dead enemies are gonna be your number one source. Every mob in the island drops these, and each one can drop anywhere from 1 to 1500 coins.
Common enemies: 4-15 coins, depending on their health.
Regular elite enemies: 40 - 100.
Easy rare spawns: 200 - 500.
Harder rare spawns (such as ): 500 - 1500.

The exact number you get from each enemy seems to change a lot, so getting a high amount of Timeless Coins from an enemy requires a lot of luck.

Chests:
There are lots and lots of chests on Timeless Isle, and they all contain Timeless Coins. The easy chests contains a few hundreds, while the harder chests can contain 500 - 800.
Most of the chests are one-time only, but a few of them can be looted every week. Looting all the chests should get you are very nice amount of coins to start off with.

Doing daily quests:
There are a few daily quests on the island, but you have to complete a lot of the regular quests in order to unlock them all.
Path of the Mistwalker - Kill 50 elite mobs to get 1000 Timeless Coins and 50 Valor Points.
Little Tommy Newcomer - Defeat Little Tommy Newcomer in a pet battle to get 500 Timeless Coins.
A Timeless Question - Answer a question about Warcraft lore to get 100 Timeless Coins. This should only take about 20 seconds if you know your lore!

Doing weekly quests:
There are two weekly quests on the Timeless Isle.
Strong Enough To Survive - Kill 5 rare elites to get 1 000 Timeless coins.
The Celestial Tournament - Win the Celestial Tournament to get another 1 000 coins. This weekly quest is considered really hard, and is probably not worth it unless you also want to get the pets.

Gather crafting materials:
Use your gathering profession to get Timeless coins. Ghost Iron nodes, herb nodes and skinning all gives you a small amount of coins.

Spending Timeless Coins:
Timeless Coins can be used to purchase some goods, such as ilvl 535 trinkets, battle pets, a mount and even costumes for your Perky Pug.

Mistweaver Ai:
Mistweaver Ai is the main vendor for Timeless Coins' goods, and is found on the east side of the Celestial Court. She sells the following:
ilvl 535 trinkets - 50 000 coins.
ilvl 476 weapons - 10 000 coins for one-handers, and 20 000 coins for 2-handers.
Burden of Eternity - 50 000 Timeless coins.
Timeless armor (Timeless Cloth Armor Cache, Timeless Leather Armor Cache, Timeless Mail Armor Cache and Timeless Plate Armor Cache) - 7 500 Timeless Coins.
Time-Worn Journal (used for a quest) - 500 coins.

She also sells Pouch of Timeless Coins for 500 Valor Points.

Mistweaver Ku:
Mistweaver Ku is right next to Mistweaver Ai, and sell goods for Timeless Coins. The downside is that he requires reputation with Emperor Shaohao.
He sells the following items, sorted by reputation:

Friendly:
Mask of Violence - 100 coins.
Mask of Hatred - 100 coins.
Mask of Fear - 100 coins.
Mask of Doubt - 100 coins.
Mask of Anger - 100 coins.

Honored:
Scroll of Challenge - 500 coins.
Time-Lost Artifact - 7 500 coins.

Revered:
Celestial Defender's Medallion - 2 500 coins.
Harmonious Porcupette - 7 500 coins.

Exalted:
Reins of the Heavenly Golden Cloud Serpent - 100 000 coins.

Ku-Mo:
Ku-Mo is found south of the Celestial Court.
She sells the following:
Sky Lantern - 7 500 coins.
Flimsy Sky Lantern - 500 coins.
Golden Glider - 1 000 coins.

Whizzig:
Whizzig is a rare spawn vendor that sells some cool vanity stuff, and an inscription technique:
Charred Recipe - 4 000 coins.
"Dapper Gentleman" Costume - 500 coins.
"Dread Pirate" Costume - 500 coins.
"Little Princess" Costume - 500 coins.
Big Pink Bow - 500 coins.
Magical Pet Biscuit - 500 coins.

Speaker Gulan:
Speaker Gulan is found overlooking the sea at The Blazing Way, and only sells one item for Timeless coins:
Censer of Eternal Agony - 2 500 coins.
He also sells some other items, such as a mount and PvP items, but these require Bloody Coins, not Timeless coins.

Master Kukuru:
Master Kukuru is located in a cave on the norther part of the island, and sells keys to open his chests.
Kukuru's Cache Key - 500 coins each.

As a finishing note, there are two items with the name Timeless coins.
The first one is this, the currency item for Timeless Isle.
The other one is Timeless Coin which is used for the legendary quest chain. This is probably not obtained the same way as these.

Here's something I need to know, are these kept in your currency tab or do they stack in your bags, and if so how high? With the gawd awful amounts of items that have been introduced in this expac as well of items I have collected over the 6 or so years of gameplay I can not afford to keep many more things in my bags, especially items I need thousands of (Giant Dinosaur Bone needs to be a currency as well). Void storage is full, bank is full, I have all 28 slot bags on hand and in bank and I'm only given about 10 bag slots to run around with.

Mistweaver Ai will have Pouch of Timeless Coins for sale by the price of 0 Valor Points.
Note that the item requires you to be honored with Emperor Shaohao which is gained by killing mobs on the Timeless Isle so you can't get around the farming.

Killing Non-Elites Listed in Killing Time
Killing the several Non-Elites on the island will reward ~5 Timeless Coin

Killing Elites Listed in Path of the Mistwalker
Elites drops 15-20 Timeless Coin each.

Killing Rares Listed in Timeless Champion
Some Rare Elites drops 200-300 while others drop 700-900 Timeless Coin.
All rares might also have a chance to drop Purse of Timeless Coins which contains ?-? Timeless Coin. Karkanos have a guaranteed drop of Giant Purse of Timeless Coins which contains 800-1000 Timeless Coin.

Looting Chests
There is several types of chests such as Moss-Covered Chest and Ordon Supplies around the island.
Looting chests which are found all around the island will reward you 50-100 Timeless Coin.

So there I am on my own, looting the chests in Master Kukuru's cave, and I opened one up with 10,000 coins... Really.... Thats awesome! I hope others have luck like that! Good luck folks

This currency is so broken… I have farmed 40k in a day, I'm not even friendly with Shaohao yet. Since I do not need the 50k trinket nor the 20k weapon, nor the alt gear either, I only have a few 7500 pets to buy, 1k/ mogu charms that I will most likely pop like candies when given the chance and opportunity since I will have gotten at least 200k when I hit exalted for the mount that only costs 100k.
Also you may be interested in the fact that the 496 boa and their 535 improved versions with random stats still are buggy as hell in events such as CMs and Proving grounds. I'm not sure about pvp but if the downscale doesn't work properly on those I don't see why the would in pvp.

Not sure if it's a bug, but you currently won't get any Timeless Coins if you're in a raid group.

Thousands of coins, little dangers or hassle.
Grab these chests, while RareCoordinator addon helps you find rares.

I actually now recommend grabbing the "Wholly" and "Grail" addons, as these will mark the map with "!" marks at chest locations.

Theory: There is only one timeless coin in existence, so you own the same coin multiple times at once, as it flickers through time. The excistence of one such coin would be reasonable, but thousands? Preposterous.

Here's a question I'm sure I'm not the only one pondering: What are some efficient ways to convert Timeless Coins into gold currency? (E.g., buying and selling vendor items, disenchanting, etc.)?

Some things you can do with your extra Timeless coins:

1) Buy Harmonious Porcupettes from Mistweaver Ku. He's on the right side of Emperor Shaohao on the East side of The Celestial Court. They'll cost you 7500 Timeless coins each and you need to be Revered with Emperor Shaohao to purchase them. The Harmoniuos Porcupettes can be caged and sold on the AH. I made thousands of gold this way.

2) In Kukuru's Grotto (where the caves are), buy keys from Master Kukuru in the cave with him and all the chests. I buy stacks of 20 Kukuru's Cache Keys at a time for 10K (500G each). The chests contain mostly more coins from 1-1000 each. However they also may contain more gear that you can use to gear more of your alts.

3) If you have an enchanter, send that toon all the extra gear for its class that you don't need elsewhere. You can then d/e these for Sha Crystals to sell and/or use. This includes rings, cloaks, necklaces, and trinkets that you don't need.

4) Any gear that you can't d/e and/or don't need you can also send to your alts to create and then vendor. Most of these items vendor at 25G-35G. A few of these will easily pay for your next repair bill.

The only downside to this is having to vendor certain good items, those being Burdens (5G each) and the pet Bonkers (25G each). Burdens are soul bound, so once you've used all the Burdens you need, vendoring them for a mere 5G is all that's left. Its a shame Burdens aren't account bound like the gear. To me, having to vendor Bonkers is even worse. After adding three of these to your collection, you have to vendor the rest for 25G each. Unfortunately they cannot be caged and subsequently sold on the AH. Just yesterday I had to vendor six of them I got after opening 250 chests. What a waste.

Still in the end, all the extra Timeless coins you get does help to gear your alts and make you extra gold. They definitely are not worthless or pointless after buying everything else, even after buying the Reins of the Heavenly Golden Cloud Serpent you thought would take forever to get enough coins to buy, LOL!

Things low level toons can do to get timeless coins.

It is possible to get Timeless Coin on low level toons through the pet battle daily quest with Little Tommy Newcomer on timeless isle.

You can also loot the little sand piles on the beaches for a few coins.

You can tag rare mobs just by attacking them even if you hit or not. So jump in when you see a group fighting a rare mob and take a swing. Corpse-walk back and loot. The Pirate ship drops roughly 1K coins per kill.

You can get a celestial drop once per lockout. Again, you don't need to hit anything. Just attack it when a group from your faction is in the fight. There is no min damage necessary for the celestial fight. My level 40 warrior got a level 553 drop. I actually don't yet know if you can get a Celestial Treasure Box drop because I received loot.

You cannot loot any of the chests on the isle. They are unclickable they just sit there and taunt you with there sparkles. You can click on the little statue that sends you in the air to loot cloud chests, but again - no chests for you.

Use the little statue to cross over to the other side of the bridge. If you click the statue and turn toward the other side of the bridge at the apex you will reach it.

You can buy many items. My level 40 can run around as a censer for example. Getting killing blows on level 90s not so easy. Essentially you would need them to get in combat, drop to 100 hit points, then sit down - and let your low level toon crit them. A heck of alot of trouble. But if you have a very patient guildy and are good with timing mechanics you could pull off getting some bloody coins. Get 50 and you could run around as a twink in censer form using the BG censer item.

You can click the little legends items and get the buffs. I think the fountains too but can't remember off the top of my head.

You can use many of the on use drops off rare mobs. My 40 can be a pink skeleton pirate now.

Keep in mind, when a low level dies, anywhere on the island - you rez back on the beach. So stay alert when trying to reach a rare mob like houlon or cinder. My 40 has been able to get kills on them so it is possible to make the trip.

You will havw a huge agro radius. If you have to choose to agro something then choose the snakes - their damage appears to be percentage based so you can take a couple hits from them and by fine. Keep moving and get to you destination as soon as possible.

Often you can get far enough away to drop agro, however, if that does not work just run right at the rare you want to loot - take a swing and then when you die just corpse-walk back for loots.

Don't bother to repair. Ever. Makes no difference to your survivability.

Went into the cave with an initial ~36k coins and spent them all on keys, then kept spending them on keys as I got more coins. Ended up buying 161 keys.

So do i leave the isle after i have all purple gear since coins cant be used for much after that? The island is kind of addicting . I find myself getting sidetracked and swimming after MAW.

Fastest way to get this in my opinion:

Install these addons: Handy notes, Handy notes Timeless isle, Rarecoordinator, TomTom, NpcScan and/or NpcScan Overlay

Note: You can either have Rarecoordinator or NpcScan and/or Npcscan Overlay if you want.

Installation: I recommend the Curse Client as it automatically installs addons and has all these addons on Curse.

Why these are helpful:

Handy notes and Handy Notes Timeless Isle:

Displays where rare creatures spawn
Displays where chests are and if there is a chest you can only get once then when you loot it it disappears from the map
Displays tips when you hover over one of something Handy Notes has put on the map
Shows what is normally considered the best item a rare elite drops.

Rarecoordinator:

Displays where rare elites spawn.
Displays how long it has been since that elite has been killed
Colors the time since the rare elite had been killed to show how much longer around it would take for the rare elite to spawn.
Plays a sound out out of a list to show that a rare elite has spawned.
Says how an elite is to be spawned whether like talking to someone who spawns.
Can toggle whether TomTom points the arrow at the rare elite found.

TomTom:

Points an arrow for different things on your screen with what it is pointing to underneath
Can toggle whether you want it to be pointed at the rare elites found by RareCoordinator
Shows how far away the thing the arrow is pointing at is.

NpcScan:

Detects rare elites in the game near you.
Can choose to play a a sound out of a list when a Rare Elite is found.
Can toggle which elites you want NpcScan to pick up.
When a rare elite is found a box appears at the bottom of the screen which has the name of the rare elite inside with the rare elites appearance on top and if you click the box it targets the rare elite if in range

NpcScan Overlay:

Displays rare elites paths for NpcScan
Shows the mob paths rare elites name in same colors to identify the mob whose path it is.

i posted this on the pouch of timeless coins ill post it here as well since this is where i initially went looking for this info the pouch of timeless coins is gone fortunately many of the npcs around rthe isle are weaker making soloing them and quests like path of the mistwalker easier so in that regard it is easier to farm coins now so if you been putting off doing timeless isle stuff there is no better time then now
