Apparently instance quests don't count toward this achievement, so far I just ran all the Gnomeregon quests and I haven't got a single credit toward the limit. Checking BRD now, but at least if all else fails the Rep is nice.

theres roughly 1200 quests on the eastern kingsoms. So its asking you to do a little less than 2/3rds of all the quests here.

Read somewhere that you did not get credit for doing Instance Quests, Noticed I had skipped stockade on my mage.
Picked up a few quests, did stockade, got credit towards the achievement.
So it seems like you do get credit for normal 5 man instance.

I did the following Quests
2 quests picked up at the bloke in front.
Bandanas from the woman in old town
Head to deliver in Lakeshire
Hand to deliver in duskwood
Didnt bother to go to wetlands to pick up the Q from the dwarves.

5 quests, and I got 5 points toward the 700 achievement.

I just did the Heroic key quest for MGT, I got points for Both turnins inside the instance( I reckoned I wouldn't) and credit for turning in the quest outside.

Also worth mentioning, did "The Missing Diplomat" and got credit towards the Achievement for all delieveries there(in Kalimdor)

Anyone else think it's a little strange that the Horde need less that 200 cumulative quests for both Eastern Kingdom's and Kalimdor? Am I counting wrong? I checked the achievements and it lists the Alliance at needing somewhere around 1430 and the horde around 1200. Strange.

Can someone confirm Cenotaphs post about being able to do dungeon quests in the Eastern Kingdoms and/or Kalimdor. I read for the Outlands loremaster achievement that dungeon quests did not account for it and was able to do it without them, but I am struggling with Eastern Kingdoms.

I did notice that if you have a quest picked up from Eastern Kingdoms which completes on Kalimdor, you will get reward for Eastern Kingdoms.
Learned this while doing The New Frontier.
I'm uncertain of instance quests. I did some in Uldaman, and they didn't count.

I got credit for 1 quest out of gnomer out of the 7 I did. it was the last part of the ring drop quest line. The rest do NOT count for Eastern Kingdom

Using the category filter for just that zone, Alliance has over 882 quests in Kalimdor, and I even took some out, like Silithus having all the tactical, logistics, etc quests. So these numbers do no include quests that you picked up somewhere else and require you to go to a different zone usually.

Eastern Kingdoms has over 927.

With Track Low Level Quests, these achievements are very and easily doable.

Discovered today that cloth turn-ins for Stormwind, Ironforge and Gnomeregan Exiles also count for this achievement. At least, the non-repeatable ones do.

Out of the last 30 quests i've done maybe 4 have counted. good job blizz!

A GM can also help you if you're really stuck on trying to figure out what quest you've already completed. A GM helped me figure out which Chicken Escort I was missing and it saved me a lot of time.

Whilst the first time you complete one of the blue daily quests on the Isle of Quel'Danas don't count, there are a couple of related quests that do.

The Scryer quest you pick up in Shattrath to deliver in Quel'Danas counts http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=11482. I assume the equivalent Aldor quest also counts, although I can't confirm this.

The quest to teleport you from Quel'Danas to HFP also counts http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=11526.

this has the potential to be slightly frustrating when you have most but not all (ie levelled up in eastern kingdoms pre-achievement system).

some but not all 5-man instance quests count... it's frustrating, be sure to look it up first. some quests count as kalimdor (get the quest in SW, find the item in kalimdor, turn in in SW and it's a kalimdor quest *rage*).

repeatable quests do not count, unless they have 1 quest that starts and it leads to the repeatable quest. case in point, in the blasted lands, the 2 nelfs & the other guy slightly more south... collect the animal body parts. it's a tedious quest, but the first one of all of them count towards loremaster.

also, who'd have thunk it, but in westfall, up on the hill, the dwarf who lurvs his ale (who doesnt), gives a 44 quest, Sweet Amber i think... another really annoying & tedious quest... it takes you to swamp of sorrows, hinterlands, duskwallow marsh, feralas... but it's 3+ part chain, iirc.

i personally just finished it, and for certain had 2 other quests that i hadn't completed in searing gorge, and i was still going down the list of hard to find quests as posted earlier here.

it's worth doing the loremasters just to work on your city reputations for the other title, i've now hit exalted with 3, and am close to a 4th.

What I find annoying with this achievement is that when doing the quests in the lower lvl areas, the lowbies sometimes gets really mad. Some of them whisper things like, "Why don't you go and do quests your own lvl" or once someone complained in general, "There's a annoying high lvl at the east side killing all of my quest mobs"... and that was at the slow hours when normal people should sleep (I admit I don't count myself to the normal people).

So if it wasn't frustrating enough to have to do all those quests (and find them first...) you have to stand scolding also, from those who don't respect that people are doing it for the chievement.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, please, show respect. This echievement is there, and to get it we need to do the quests even if we might be 79 lvls too high for them. Don't scold us for that. One day you might also do it.

One-time quests on the Isle of Quel'Danas DO count for this achievement.

This includes receiving the supplies packages when you increase your reputation with the Shattered Sun Offensive.

Yeah. I've been catching a huge amount of flak for doing this achievement. I'll admit, I'm not terribly sensitive to who is around me or what level they are; I just go in, kill until complete, turn around and leave. We have hundreds (if not thousands) of quests to go through before the Loremaster and Seeker titles... If I stopped to let that level 10 slowly kill the quest mobs it would take me 4 hours to get through 10 quests. This isn't to say, either, that I go in and kill race a lvl 30. I kill a mob, loot it, move on. Whatever the low level can tag and kill is theirs and I help them with their kill, heal them, and buff them.

I will say this however, it is usually an extremely short time that I have to genocide X mob or Y mob, so in the end it's a relatively minor offense to the lowbies. Further, in the true start zones, mob spawn times are so fast it doesn't even matter who is killing them.

Plus, if I see someone about to start a "kill x# of mobs" quest I always invite them to group so they get credit, as well as pass on all loot to them. You'd be surprised, however, how many time my attempt at being nice gets a "%$#@ Off" response. I dunno, I would have loved some high level help back in the day when I was first coming up.

To me, the primary argument which most lowbies have against us loremasters is that their questing is more important then ours. I don't like that argument, but I can see its genus. I am an achievement junkie, it's what I do in game. I've done then powerlevel to max, get the tier, get the pvp sets, max the professions bit for three years. That, and I realize it's minor sacrilege to say this but, that pattern bores me to death now. Achievements were, imo, the best thing Blizz could have done to revitalize old school content. So, to me, saying that just because I'm getting rep, quest completions, or whatever instead of experience I have less "right" to do a quest just doesn't follow.

And, to the lower levels, if you think questing is frustrating with the 4 or 5 people on a realm that are doing the Loremaster Ach, go try and level past 20 on a PvP server. You'll be in tears apparently.

After 3.0.8 many (if not: all) instance-quests that previously did not give credit, now give credit. I didn't come across any instance-quests that didn't count towards Loremaster (EK of Kalimdor) since 3.0.8. Tested it in BRD, Deadmines, Stockades, Gnomeregan, Scholomance, Stratholme etc. Patch 3.0.8 helped me a lot (currently 17 quests away from Loremaster-title).

EDIT: The majority of Gnomer quests DO NOT count for the LM Achievement. As always, however, they do count towards the 3k quests "Seeker" achievement. (As of March 17, 2009)

This is confirmed. I have done quests in VC, BFD, BRD, Stocks, SM, etc etc etc and they have all given credit post 3.0.8.

Also, if you have a question whether or not a quest zone will give you credit, just scroll to the top of this topic... There are all the zones/instances which quests will count towards LM.

Further, since you're already on WoWHead, learn to utilize the searching and filtering features. Many of us are constantly updating each quest info/notes to be as up to date as possible. SO, if you're wondering whether or not a quest counts, tab out, search the name in WoWHead and scroll down to look for a confirmed post, either that it counts or it doesn't. If there isn't a post confirming the LM status of a quest, start up an account, go do the quest, and let us know.

Loremaster/Seeker is such a huge undertaking that any increase in information is awesome, at least imo. We're trying to wade through thousands of quests to end up with a very specific number for a very specific and huge achievement.

One extra note, make sure the confirmed "does not count" post is from 3.0.8 or later, since the achievement was changed in that patch. It is likely worth your time to go try the quest if you don't see a confirmed no count from 3.0.8.

Ok I have a beef with Blizz.....why is it that the Alliance has to do more quests for this achievement as well as loremaster of Kalimdor then the Horde?.... :(

That is slightly amazing and rare. I have asked GMs questions along those lines before and they have told me they "can't give out hints".

I'm glad you apparently got lucky here, but I would not count on this as a means of finding missing quests (that was directed at people other then the OP).

In Vanilla WoW Alliance had more quests than Horde. And, generaly speaking, they were better than their Horde counterpart (Onyxia questline anyone?). Blizz admitted that back in the day, they were more biased towards the Alliance overall. Although one can't blame them, Alliance had much more history to use to. All the Warcraft 1&2&3 games were more or less Alliance biased. And besides, Alliance questlines seems *to this day* to be better written and more engaging than those Horde ones. Exception being the Horde questline in Nagrand.

FYI Fallen Hero of the Horde give you a series of quest chains. they count towards either loremaster of K or loremaster of EK see

I completed this achievement yesterday 700/700 quest done, however I haven’t been awarded the achievement. Relog and restart didn’t fix this and almost 48 hours later I haven’t had a response from my ticket. A new bug from the latest patch? I had noticed my completed quests count did go up after the release, I guess time will tell.

My achievment didn't click over when I hit 700. I got as far as 705 before ticketing a GM. Official Blizz in-game e-mail (received 26th April 09) says that the requirement is now 740 quests and not 700. The Achievement UI will be updated in a later patch. In some of the US forums they've also reported achievement tick over when reaching 740 so that would seem to bear out.

Thanks to the ability to track low-level quests this wasn't so bad to find the remaining quests I needed to get the 740 need to get the achievement. I still have lots more quests that I could do that I chose to drop once I got the achievement, so people shouldn't have too much hassle in getting the extra 40 if they wanted the achievement now. All I can recommend to the impatient people (like me) is to roam around all the zones and keep an eye on the mini map. There are quests all over the place and often you might think you've done a zone. My missing quests were in Redridge Mountains where I swear I'd done them all, but for some reason most were still there. Perhaps I'd gone there and the quests were green and so I had moved on elsewhere after doing a few token quests.

I have completed 690something/700 before patch 3.1. After Patch 3.1 it read 710/700. I am still completing quests. It now reads 713/700. Still no achievement has been awarded. I opened a ticket and response was not very helpful. Response referred to ingame mechanics controlling achievement so GM cant help. Seems to me that ingame mecanics a little broken. Several others are experiencing this problem as well judging on comments on WOW forums.

GM's told me that the achievement is bugged atm and it requires 740 quests to complete. They "said" that they are working on it but it currently requires 740.

I did 701/700 quests for this achievement, and when I didn't get the achievement I was a little worried and put in a ticket. Apparently the bug isn't that I'm not obtaining the achievement, the bug is that it's supposed to be 740 quests, and they need to fix it.

I'm very disappointed, to say the least.

As an update: We have determined that the appropriate quest count for Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms should be 700 (and not 740) for all Alliance players. We are working to amend this achievement's requirements at this time and hope have the matter resolved as quickly as possible.

Also, for those who may be curious, the possibility of resolution via hotfix has indeed been discussed. Due to the changes we need to make to ensure this achievement's proper functionality, though, it still remains unlikely that we will able to do so without a patch.

Do the raid attunement quests that are now optional count towards this achievement? I started playing wow when TBC was already out and WOTLK was coming out soon, so I didn't really do any of the raid content for the classic wow and TBC. Could someone possibly post if these quests count, which raids have optional attunement and where we would start them.

A great add-on for this achievement is Carbonite. Basically what it does is gives you a checklist of every quest you can start in a zone. When you do a quest it marks it off the list. It lists all hard to find escorts, rare drops, and out of place quest givers. The only downside is after you download it, you have to mark off the quests your have already completed because it can't track quests before it is installed. Still a great way to go through a zone and see if you missed any quests.

I've asked on 3 servers about the 00X quests and each time a GM was able to confirm which ones I've done. It may be that this is the only quest they will confirm. Once I did get lucky and a GM told me where I'd missed a bit in another chain, but generally they are unable to assist us in our quest for quests.

A GM has just confirmed that quest Level 40 (35): "The Black Box" - Badlands (Kill the bird Zaricotl in Badlands to start this quest) no longer exists, for those of you using this guide for easy to miss quests.

Well, I've been working on this achievement lately, and been using the new tracker beta feature in WoWHead.

I've only noticed a few problems. The tracker says I have 279 quests in the EK complete, while WoW (tracking enabled in achievement) says I have 289.

I'm wondering if this is going to cause me to miss some quests, because all of the quests completed are not being listed. I've even found a few quests that weren't listed for the zone.

I can't seem to pick up the quest in Goldshire. Does anybody know why? I'm only 81 away from Loremaster and I know that area opens up a lot in Elwyn Forest. I mean, I can't even get the Hogger Quest!

So you've decided to try and get Loremaster?

Addons you'll want to help you along the way:
1st is EveryQuest. A helpful tool that utilizes the recent quest database functionality introduced to the game, allowing you to see which quests you have not completed, in every zone/ dungeon / raid. It can also filter out various quests you might not want to start ie; raid specific quests / cooking / class etc.

The 2nd is Lightheaded which has the ability to show you valuable WoWhead comments and info when you access your quest log. It can also show you where quest givers are in the form of coordinates. Very very helpful. Also displays quest chains (very helpful) and helps you find where you are up to in that chain.

The 3rd is TomTom waypoint arrow. This will integrate with your EveryQuest & Lightheaded and allow you to see where you need to be on the map, mini map and on screen HUD. Its a small movable arrow that points the way to objectives and/or quest givers and any other location you wish to ask it to point to.
For instance, if you're currently looking for a druid in Moonglade named Rukthaan (fictional as I can't think of any of their names right now) you would only need to type the NPCs name into Lighthead's search engine. Find the right NPC and then click on the provided coords inside Lighthead interface, that will automatically engage TomTom's way point arrow to help you locate the NPC.

But that was a hypothetical and EveryQuest should tell you exactly what quests you need to complete in order to finish each zone as you go on. It will also have the functionality to help you see which quest givers have what, and allow TomTom to tell you where to go to find them. But.. incase you want to trek to a specific NPC and want info on the (what could be) thousands of quests you have remaining you'll want Lightheaded as well.

I can confirm that all the quest Related to Upper Black rock spire and lower black rock spire and all Black rock depths quest do count to the loremaster of EK. I suggest to people doing this start in one area and just knock out the areas before you move on or you will be back tracking a lot.

How this achievement decides which quests count towards the total is a bit hard to grasp. I think the main rule is quests related to world areas or non-raid instances according to your quest log. This means that any quest filed under PvP, Special, <Season/Event>, <Class>, <Race>, <Profession> or <Raid instance> will probably not count. Repeatable and daily quests do of course not count either.

Right i have this figured out...

There are a few pvp quest that indeed do count to the Lore master achievement, but they are the quest you pick up from the select areas...IE. Altrec Mountains for Altrec Valley I am fairly sure half of those count. I know the one found in arthi highlands counts to it, where you have to actively attack the 5 different flags. Other than that I personally don't know of any others that do indeed count to the lore master title.

not sure what they mean by special...

No Season quest count to it. I have tried with the Xmas ones and mid summer and they do not count at all.

I am not sure on class quest counting, but i think most do not count. there may be a select few that do....But if it is a item collection quest for some kinda of weapon or armor i wouldn't count on it counting.

Race quest or quest that only your race can get do count to the count for lore master. this has a huge effect on the low level areas. IE. if you are not a dwarf or gnome you are not going to be able to all the being area quest for them.

I find with profession quest it depends on the quest, Like the armor smithing quest line counted to my total, but only half of them. the ones where i turned in collected items seemed to not count to that, but the ones where I went from one master to another did count however....so I say try it and yay! if it works Boo if it doesn't.

Now last but not least, I have found to this day that all or most quest dealing with raids to count to the lore master, Ones I know that do count off the top of my head, well is just that the head quest where you turn in heads for items. So off you go and kill Hakkar! and fairly sure Nat Pangle's quest to fish up the boss in Zul Grub counts too.

I have loremaster 2x Everyquest is awsome just a suguestion to thoes that want to be a loremaster do all the quests you can find in Eastern kingdoms lots of them don't count for the achievement but start quest lines that end end up giving you quests in Kalimdor areas that count there and you cant get until you do.

Not all of the quests in classic dungeons count for Loremaster now, but most of them do. This is very useful in avoiding having to do a number of quests in Stranglethorn Vale, or running around the continent doing 3 quests per zone. BRD, LBRS, and UBRS, in particular, are full of quests, and this will save you a lot of time otherwise spent running circles around a zone or the continent. Besides, of course, the circles you run in order to obtain a few of those quests.

As I (and probably most of you) discovered while working on Loremaster, spread out quests take forever. Having 20 or so quests that you can do in a row, in the hour or two it takes to solo the Blackrock Mountain instances, is amazing.

Confirmed that Loremaster will not be removed with Cataclysm, but will be changed to accomodate the changes to Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor.

"Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms and Loremaster of Kalimdor no longer requires you to complete a given amount of quests anymore. You now have to complete the achievements for each zone to get the Loremaster title."

Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor zones will get their own quest achievement per zone, similar to how it works for Outland and Northrend.

A lot of these comments mention 700 quests. Before Cataclysm, you had to complete 700 quests total on the continent, and there were no achievements for the individual areas.

Make sure to visit all the starting zones (South east section of Dun Morough, North of Goldshire) and do the quests there. That and The Missing Diplomat quest chain alone should account for a good 30-40 quests. I also recommend Carbonite. True it shows quests that you are not eligible for (class specific quests / seasonal quests) but other than it is GREAT! Good luck!

seeing a lot of posts about getting/ not getting this achievement. but I wanna know, will all the quests I did pre-cata count towards the quest achievements for the different zones, or will I have to do them all over again?
example- did all the quests I could find in Westfall, Redridge, Ellwyn, etc. will the number of quests I did still be counted for those zones?

As of The Shattering, this achievement requires the 'sub-achievements' to be completed. The total amount of quests to complete (Alliance) is now 648, down from 700.

As of 4.0.3a, you now need to complete an amount of quests specific to each zone in the continent, like the Loremaster of Northrend one.

The new sub-achievements included as of 4.0.3a don't seem to encompass every Alliance zone. Elwynn Forest and Dun Morogh are both missing, for instance. So as of right now, unless you're also going for your Seeker title, these zones don't help you progress toward Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms.

None of the "newbie" zones are included in either this or the Kalimdor achievement. I can only assume this is because of the starting areas for each race which may not be accessible to other races, and thus would affect the total quests in those zones.

On that note, just completed this portion of Loremaster today after almost a week. Started with Westfall/Redridge/Duskwood, then worked my way down to STV. Went over to Blasted Lands and then basically worked my way in reverse for those "high-end" zones up to Badlands. Then I went from Loch Modan on up, finishing with WPL/EPL.

From an enjoyment standpoint (I was trying to read as much as the quest text as I could) the southern half of the continent was wonderfully done. I thoroughly loved the changes they've made. On the other hand the dwarf/gnome progression (loch/wetlands/arathi/hinterlands) felt very stale. Wetlands wasn't too bad, same with Hinterlands. I felt Loch was really lacking the big "oomph" other zones had for questing, and Arathi was just a nightmare. I've never leveled in Arathi pre-Shattering, and I never plan to go near that place post-Shattering. WPL and EPL were both highly enjoyable.

So if I ever had to recommend an EK leveling path, it would start at Westfall, and follow the breadcrumbs. I've always been a Kalimdor leveler myself, and that's the next part of Loremaster I'll be taking on so I'm hoping for some more treats. Though, it has Bloodmyst, which deserves it's own little corner of hell right along with Arathi.

As for the achievement itself, the only zones I had to actively search for quests (after completing all the hubs/breadcrumbs) was Loch Modan and Wetlands (there's a hub north of Menethil which had no breadcrumb, but plenty of quests). Burning Steppes requires you complete a breadcrumb to activate the initial quest chain (which spans the whole zone). All of the other zones though I never ran into an issue of having to run around looking for those few extra quests. As long as you make sure to do every quest in each hub along the way, you should do fine.

I also recommend checking comments on here for each zone's specific achievement before you start. People tend to mention if there's any of those sneaky item drops that start quests.

I suggest everyone who want Loremaster Eastern Kingdoms and are Honered with the Bloodsail Buccaneers need to destroy their reputation with Bloodsail Buccaneers and do EVERY single quest available with the goblins (this also includes the quests in the Blasted Lands because of Gadgetzan).

Afterwards you can destroy your Steamwheedle Cartel once again and ravage Booty Bay. You can now kill the guards until you are exalted with the Bloodsail Buccaneers as of The Shattering. Now you can continue or start out as you were before all this mess, but exalted with an extra faction. This is my overal plan and I will post when my venture is completed.

As you can see, by completing the loremaster achievements, you will also get over 3000 quests. I suggest picking up Quest Completist (similar to Everyquest, but updated for Cataclysm and still being updated. Everyquest seems to have been abandoned) to help you find lost quests if you get confused or stuck. Good luck, and happy questing!

One tip for those quest hunters out there - as of the writing of this post, one of the biggest add-on assets to have is Quest History Felstone. It logs all the quests in the game as a sortable list, and will query the server to check which quests you have or have not completed. If you are stuck in a zone and are unable to find any more quests, simply bring up the add-on and select "New Quests", and sort by category (zone) - this will tell you which of those last lingering quests you have been unable to track down. It even provides quest IDs so that you can look up on those quests on Wowhead.

This add-on has gotten me out of a bind many a time when I have been stuck on a zone quest achievement, so I thought I'd pass that on to all of you. I am aware that the well known add-on QuestHelper has an incomplete quest feature as well, but I find that Quest History is a lot lighter on system resources than QuestHelper!

This, along with the other Loremaster meta achievements, will soon receive account wide progress. In other words, completing Arathi Highlands Quests on one character and Blasted Lands Quests on another will count.

This is good news for those of us that got into fights regularly with the Booty Bay bruisers!

I wanted to add that while the individual achievements are account-wide (and can thus be used on multiple toons to collectively get this larger achievement), some do not share.

For example: I just completed Dustwallow Marsh Quests on my Undead hunter. When I logged in as my Night Elf druid, I did NOT have credit for Dustwallow Marsh. I'm guessing this is because they have different criteria (alliance need 60 quests and horde need 48).

I say that is is because of different achievement criteria and not the horde/alliance thing because immediately after, I took my undead hunter to Felwood and quested there (both alliance and horde need 55 quests for Felwood Quests. After earning the achievement and logging in as my alliance toon, I did have credit for Felwood.

That being said, if you are trying to get the quest achievements for Loremaster on different toons from different factions, pay attention to where you are questing and if it will count for your overall achievement progress.
