Largely overrated, IMO.
Crit does little for a Shadow Priest. Of your 5 main spells (Mind Flay, Shadow Word: Pain, Mind Blast, Shadow Word: Death and Vampiric Touch), it affects only 2. And both of those are on cooldowns.

Add to that the 5pt cost, and I'd skip this talent - there's more useful things in Shadow.

This talent is largely the primary reason shadow priests do NOT stack crit. This talent gives the shadow priest's two spells that can crit a 15% bonus crit chance. Any other crit is wasted when it can be replaced with hit or more spell damage.

"Shadow Power:
Increases the critical strike chance of your Mind Blast and Shadow Word: Death spells by 10%, and increases the critical strike damage bonus of your Mind Blast and Shadow Word: Death spells by 50%. "

Seems as if Shadow Priesties will vaule spel crit a little more now.
This ablity still gives a free 10% crit (down from 15% from TBC) to your only 2 critable spells, but increases their crit damage to 1.75x of a non-crit.

This talent synergizes well with Imp. Spirit Tap.

In the latest beta build as of September 19, 2008. (Beta build 8970), this talent reads:

"Shadow Power Rank 5
Increases the critical strike damage bonus of your Mind Blast, Mind Flay, and Shadow Word: Death spells by 100%."

In recent news, shadow priests without a threat meter gain aggro from the boss and get one shot.

I have a question, if I put 5 points into this talent, and my Mind Blast crits for 2800, with this talent, will it crit for 5600?

For a clearer example - this talent increases the critical strike damage bonus from 50% up to 100%.

If your Mind Blast would normally hit for 2000 and normally crit for 3000, it would now crit for 4000 with 5/5 Shadow Power.

Please note the top comments made during the 2.x patches are no longer correct. The 3.0 patch allows Mind Flay ticks to crit (reflected in the tooltip for this talent), making this talent a much bigger DPS boost.

Also probably one of the cooler icons in the shadow Priests' arsenal, save maybe the new Devouring Plague.
