Amazing spell for Resto Shams. It's nicely affected by healing gear. If you are a Resto Sham, ALWAYS have this totem down in instances. You'd be surprised how much it heals in total throughout the course of an instance run.

My healing totem currently heals for about 105 per tick. 105 x 5 = 525 per 2 seconds, for 1 minute. 15750 heal in a minute at an almost negligible cost of 70-ish mana or so with the resto-totem talent. Also, on manageable pulls of 3 - 4 mobs where I'm not healing agressively, healing totem allows me to get my 5-sec-after-casting full mana regen during combat more often.

To put into perspective. My healing totem heals just a little less than a full dps-ing shadow priest does with his shadow-damage heals throughout the course of an instance.

Not bad for a cheap cast.

He's healing for 52.5 per second, per person in the party considering you have a full 5 man.

meaning thats 3150 per person= 15750/min over the entire party.

I think that's got your shadow priest heals beat.
Furthermore that totem will never go oom, you will.
healing totem>shadowpriest.

I've currently got a Shammie now and am thinking of respeccing, but i've got 2 questions with this particular totem...

1) Ive popped a +healing trinket and put this totem down and noticed that there wasnt a increase in healing done. Can anyone confirm whether or not this totem is affected by trinkets that increase healing?

2) Does the Shaman talent 'Purification' affect this?

yes it does have effect i got a lvl 54 sham on (dark iron) 518+ healing and the totem heals 47-48 per tic w/o the purifacation it heals like 42-43. not sure on trinkents yet tho : \

The only thing I don't like about this totem is that many healing meters don't count it toward my healing :P They also don't count ES toward my healing...it counts towards the tank's healing meter. I guess since the ES also counts towards the tanks aggro, and this totem doesn't seem to count toward my aggro either then it's not big loss. So at the end of the runs I have to take a percentage of the healing the MT put out on himself (Prayer of Mending also counts toward his healing as well as pots and such), and I take the healing listed for the totem and add it all back to mine :)

The best 10 man I've been in had Group 1 = Main Tank, Off Tank, Shadow Priest, Resto Shammy /w +1700 healing, Resto Shammy /w +1500 healing; Group 2 = raw DPS, no healing. I never had to heal the MT or OT. 2x Earth Shield, one on each Tank. I concentrated lightly on the DPS when they would get AOE dmg, but that was about it. I also didn't have to worry about mana with Vampiric Touch and 2 x Mana Tide. We cleared Kara extremely easy this way. GREAT COMBO!

Like nearly all totems, HS totem has an aggro radius. However, unlike most fire totems, this totem never seems to generate any threat on itself. I think that the buff that party members get from this totem makes it count as their own healing; thus, the threat from the heals are distributed to your party (very much like prayer of mending).

Tested it out by hitting a wolf for 8 damage, letting it kill me for a minute, then putting this totem down and healing myself to full. After about 800 healing done, the totem was still standing and I still had only done 8 damage.
