This is a delicious talent, if I may say so. It's extremely useful in just about any situation. Wether you're in PvP , or you're just grinding, or in a raid, it lets you get the odd lightning bolt / chain lightning / shocks without any mana cost, saving you some mana for another offensive ability or for heals.

I really like this aswell. No reason not picking it up, since it's only 1 talent point, spent in a very nice ability. When DPS'ing in PvE, a good thing is to cast many lighing bolts, until this procs and then cast chain lighning, which is has a high mana cost, but fast high damage.

A single point for 10% Clearcasting? Simply amazing. Any Elemental shaman should have this talent. There's no reason not to get it.

With the new change of clearcasting coming soon, this spell becomes amazing for any elemental shaman. Instead of a 10% clearcasting chance, it works off spell crits. Since many elem shaman, have much higher crit rating than 10% it means that it will proc more. It may hurt the enhancement shaman that got this spell because they may not have 10% spell crit rating. Overall its a buff for spell casting shaman.

2.1 Will be bringing a nerf to this. Instead of 100% it is being lowered to 60%, this will severely affect those Shamans with lower crit chance harder than those with higher crit chance. Check the Shaman forums for some information on the math and how this will affect Elemental Mana-efficiency.

As of 2.3 Elemental Focus now goes off on every fire, frost and nature spell crit and the effect is your next 2 spells have their mana cost reduced by 40%.

Nice when used in conjunction with Shamanistic focus:

Melee crits yield a 60% mana reduction on your next shock spell, and this procs a lot for an enhancement shaman, so when one of those shocks crits your next melee crit within 15 seconds gets you a shock for no mana at all which is great for pvp and pve to keep the damage flowing and mana pool full.

Mr Nobear :P this does stack with the enhancement 60% mana reduction. I have my own personal pvp specs, so many go 0/40/21, where I go 21/40/0. For many reasons, longer lasting mana pool, 40%+60% mana reduction 100% more dmg when crit all that but every1 goes resto for 70% chance to avoid interruption when healing and instant heal? WTF you need to heal after taking dmg and in pvp you will be crited no matter what ur resilience by the time u need to heal. 100% avoid interruption is a much bigger life saver plus with the enhancement talents 30% of ap to become spell dmg is nice indeed. I was level 69 last time I was enhancement, with over 1k AP meaning I had over 300 spell dmg and I still crit 1.5k with shocks.

For pve get the 3% hit in resto and reduce totem mana! yes u will use shocks but 3% spell hit+melee hit is very useful for any pve'r plus 25% mana reduction on totems is working out more than 40% mana reduction from crits. You will have 0% spell hit as enhancement, so they'll resist 17% of your spells plus u will have like 8% crit? it will take 12.5 spells to crit and if u add ur spell hit u end up needing 13.86 spells. say 14 spells for a crit. being enhancement it will only be shocks so lets see it times by 5/6 (depending on talents).

14x5=1min 10seconds
14x6=1min 24seconds

For 535 (earth shock cause of stormstrike debuff) for 40% off that again is 214. is it worth giving up 3% spell hit and melee hit (u will lose some stats for this) for 214 mana u would get every 1min 10sec/1min 24sec?

As for ele shamans, if u have lighting overload 40% crit is enough to keep this up 100% of the time. I highly recommend going all spell crit and hit you can! u can get 13% crit with lighting bolt in talents and 12% spell hit. Getting 27% crit without you totem is @#$% easy! My shaman however being totally nab geared (lol @ 1 bit of tier 4 and 1 item above heroic quality + welfare LW epixs and BoJ loot (only 1 new boj loot)) my spell dmg is 1027 buffed, 10900 mana, 38.78% crit, 16.64% spell hit (cap is 16% u always have 1% spell resist no matter what). That’s fully buffed for raid btw and my gear sucks anyway hope this helps with specs (MY shaman is Pewzor from bladefist)

Wind Shock, although a shock, causes no damage and is therefore not affected by Elemental Focus Clearcasting.

Earth Shock (with Shamanistic Focus talent) recieves a 85% mana reduction with clearcasting active

Versus Wind Shock, which only has 45% mana reduction (even with clearcasting active)

This makes Earth Shock significantly cheaper than Wind Shock while clearcasting.
Essentially making it the better choice when PvPing or playing on your own.

(Please note that Wind Shock also does not consume Clearcasting charges as opposed to Earth Shock)

I realize this would be obvious to some and makes sense when you recall some of the game mechanics, but every now and then we forget, or run into mechanics that don't work exactly as we'd think they might or are told they should.

Anyway, this effect would seem to reduce the base cost of the spells that can benefit from it before any kind of cost-reduction effects on said spells are taken into effect. This would mean the following for Shamans that are specialized to be able to have the following combination of abilities:

Shamanistic Focus + Convection (Rank 3 or Higher) + Triggering Elemental Focus with a spell crit = Up to two zero-mana-cost Shock spells you can cast during the focus effect (and Elemental Devistation being triggered it you've invested in it)

Again, probably obvious to most that already have it or would assume it procs this way without having used it but given the number of people that don't even read tooltabs (to notice things like the effect not triggering of healing spells but still being able to benefit them) it's probably worth stating explicitly somewhere.

It's fun times. I can't wait to get 5/5 Elemental Fury to go with now.

As of patch 3.3 elemental focus is triggered by fire nova crits. Each individual mob hit by fire nova can trigger a crit, so it'll always be up when AEing. Additionally, fire nova consumes an EF stack when cast. This wasn't the case on the PTR, it was fixed for live. This makes it superior to the second point in improved stormstrike talent. All enhance shamans should take this talent now.

While often thought of as a dps only spell, resto shaman shouldn't sit on it. Using Rank 1 Earth Shocks to fish for clear casting is amazing.
