You cannot sell this schematic being that it is BoP. You will NOT find this in the AH.

It only drops from the Sunfury Bowmen by Manaforge Duro in Netherstorm. Be careful of the Elf with an Elemental who walks amongst where you are playing (Hunters, keep your Track Elementals on for a warning)!

It took me personally around 2.5 hours to find the drop. It is like a hidden Engineering quest. Eventually the recipe will drop.

It took me about 3 hours of pure farming, also c.a. 120 sunfury signets, one blue Ilidarian cloak drop, Enchant chest +15 resilience and couple green items. I made 25% of 69 level also there - seems not so bad exp grinding method, however, not so good drops there.

This was a pain to get but now that i have it phew! .
Anyway as any engineer that reaches lv 360 knows that anything else is just a waste of time lvling, ive decided to keep training to lv 375 im not far off it thanks to the khorium scope. took me 3.5 Hrs to farm in a Anti-clockwise around duro to get this, nothing that great dropped except signets..

Scope's usually sell for high enough amount to compensate for the making bill, make a few and then you can make more , then you have kinda stable cash flow.

Been Farming the bowmen for the past three hours i only have 53 Sunfury Signets and 2 Arcane Tombs, and of course no scamatic. THis is probibly the worst farm I have ever done. They are hard to kill, me being a 70 Hunter, due to there immolation arrow which hurts like a bitch. Its not worth it for 2 extra DPS. Its not even worth selling in the AH when you do make it.

60= Ore Khorium and 2 40g gems. Sould sell for 200+ but only sells for 130g. Dont waste your time.

If you plan to farm for this, make sure you are able to devote a large portion of time, like 4 straight hours, to farm for it. If you come and go multiple times, each time just killing for a few mintues, you aren't really farming, your just trying to get lucky.

Also, try to do it at like 1am server time or something, when there isn't many ppl on. It might also help to have a /yell macro saying something like "I'm trying to kill the bowmen for an engineer drop...please party with me if you need to kill them for a quest".

I was very lucky...got mine on the 10th drop. Its gotta be the only luck I've had on drops in TBC yet :D.

After 2.5 hrs, 4 Arcane Tomes, and 40 Sunfury Signets it finally dropped. I farmed duo with a hunter and we would kill the bowmen faster than they'd respawn, so I imagine solo you'd always have ones to kill. It's a pain, but one of the best ways to level engineering to 375, so it's worth it.

Question... does killing other mobs diminish your chance of getting a rare drop? Because I couldn't help but getting at basically every single spot.

I've killed 489 of them, have over 300 Netherweave, 60 Signets, 14 Tomes, four greens, and an epic that's not even on their drop list.

But NO SCHEMATIC. Anyone who can comment?

I have a story to tell about my farming experience.
Well, i was farming for about an hour, i understood that it would take a while to get. So im minding my own business farming the bowmen, then i see a paladin up ahead attacking one of the bowmen, the bowmen I was about to attack next. He kills the bowmen, i didnt mind too much.

So, i politely ask him if he could stop attacking the other bowmen, because i was trying to get an engineer schematic. He then whispers me "It just dropped on this guy" and links it.. He was also an engineer but didn't know that it drops there.
At this point im freaking out, seriously, my luck is horrid.

I hope you don't have to experience the same thing as i did, good luck farming. :p

Spent two evenings farming this, roughly three hours or so. 58 Sunfury Signets, Four Arcane Tomes, a bunch of deaths due to that damned patrolling named bowman ALWAYS getting me, and about 6 stacks of netherweave later, it dropped :)

Good way to make money this. There's a few nodes spawn nearby for farming mats, and all those rep things definitely sell. Now off to get a felsteel boomstick, and hopefully loads of fel armaments ;)

I decided to farm this recipe after reaching 371 in engineering and not having any “cheap” recipes. As my partner finished of the first elf I jokingly said, “The first one could drop it and make it easy.” At that moment a pop up window appeared in my screen asking if I wanted to roll on Schematic: Khorium Scope. If you have no flying mount, this grind can be slightly tedious because you need to kill a few conjurers and centurions that are in the way of the bowmen. So either wait for 70/flying mount or expect a slightly longer grind.

you might want to remember that this doesn't drop from Sunfury Archers. I farmed them for 3 hours before i gave up and rechecked this site. Lucky for me it dropped on about the 6th or 7th bowman that i killed :)

If you don't actually care about being able to craft the scope, don't bother!
Adamantite Rifle is still green at 370.
-requires 16 ore per
for 5pts thats 5/.25 = ~20 to make

20*16= 320 adamantite ore ~needed
+40 earth (which is easy if you mine the 320 ore)
+160 fel iron ore which is stupid easy

OR this thing:
for 5pts you need 5/.75 = ~6.66 or 7
6.66*60ore= 400ore needed (on LOW end)
+48-56 khorium ore (4 bars=8ore * 6or7)
+12-14 Dawnstone

If it stays green til 375, go with the rifle. I have a feeling you will get 40 earth (and 160 fel iron ore) waaaay before you find 56 khorium ore and 14 dawnstones. Only thing might be the 240 thorium, but you're 70, go for it.

My advice: SKIP THE ONES ON THE WESTERNMOST SPOT. Unless stuff isnt respawning fast enough, Master Daellis will drive melee fighters mad. He pulls 2 archers with him, and if you're on the wrong end, you'll keep aggroing the mana wraiths, which although they can be one-shotted by most, just wont stop re-aggroing you.

1 and a half hour of farming, and I got the beauty.
More like, 65 Sunfury Signets, 4 Arcane Tomes and 5 Common Items after ;)
But It is different from person to person. some get it on first try, others get it after alot of hours of farming, and as a melee shaman (Enhance), they are quite annoying those bowmen when I aggro more than one. Specially Master Daellis, 1 snare, and another slow effect which hurt like hell.

A note to PROT PALLIES!

The usual round em up and aoe em down strat does NOT work on these guys. They will start netting you and then run in all directions, shooting immolation arrows at you. I recommend throwing on some melee dps gear, pulling out the ol 2h, and burning them down one at a time.

Just got it. 366 kills, and that doesn't include about 500-600 or so others since my counters have gotten lost twice since I started grinding for it.

I hit 375 engineering on green Adamantie Rifles long before I got this to drop. I hate random numbers.

This is the way to put the last levels on your engineering skill. The farming is not to bad, either. Took me about 90-100 kills in about 1.5 hours. (Marksmanship spec Hunter) Also, while killing these guys I made some quick gold from the coin that they dropped, a TON of netherweave cloth which sells for 3g20s a stack on my server, couple of Arcance Tomes, a TON of sunfury signets and a couple of greens to sell or DE. All and all, not a bad couple of hours. I highly recommend this to all engineers.

Eh, wow... guess I'm luckier than I thought.

I went to Manaforge Duro and killed the 5 (6?) of them on the hill just outside the structure (eastern side) shooting their immolation arrows randomly into the ground and was pretty well able to pick them off one by one. I would charge one of them and turn them so my back was to the potential adds and they'd usually cooperate and run away from the adds (staying in front of me) instead of towards them (behind me) as a result.

I cleared them once, went to the path leading up to the Manaforge from the north side and killed 3-4 Bowmen there (with a few adds... more cluttered area) and then went back to my first spot on the eastern side to pick off the respawns.

I got the drop on my 10th or 12th or so Bowman total, took me less than 30 minutes. They're pretty squishy mobs who die easily as well... I was able to burn them down very quickly as a full-out prot spec warrior (Lv70, but still, prot spec) in my tanking gear in berserker stance using Vindicators Brand+Crystalblade of the Draenei and WW+Devastate spam. Any true DPS class/build should be able to watch TV and press hotkeys and kill them off np.

The droprate for this (and that goes for any other TBC pattern/schematic/recipe that is bind on pickup) obviously is higher than stated in the statistic. Don't forget that this is the overall droprate of all kills, including people who are not engineers, so it won't ever drop for them.
0.4% means 4 out of 1000 will drop it, so you would have to kill an average of 250, but it will always drop before you killed that many.

Just to further provide stats:

- You do not need the schematic's minimum 360 Engineering for this to drop. I was at 356.
- It took me 2 trips to get the schematic. ~100 Bowman the first time and ~50 the second.
- I ended up with 7 Arcane Tombs, ~85 Sunfury Signets, ~10 greens and enough gold to easily cover expenses (arrows, flight, repairs).

Well i was working on my daily quest (the one that requires you to obtain the Sunfury Attack Plans) and it was about my 5th or 6th kill and this dropped. The drop rate may be low but just goes to show you how random it can be.

Ok good news! Finally got it! but final kill count was 600+

When it did finally drop, it dropped with a blue meta random drop design, so farming this was super worthwhile. I'd recommend all engineers short on cash rep and who have a lot of time do this. With the amount of kills you may have to do...there is a high rate of making a lot of gold.

For me, this schematic dropped off the 50th or so kill. All in all, the grind was quite pleasant, for the bowmen are easy to take down, and the Scryer rep was great too. I highly suggest that any engineer should grind this schematic.

Third attempt, first & second time did about an hour. Third attempt, just over 2 hours and finally got it! Can't remember wot drops I had the first 2 times. Today I ended up with; 110 Netherweave Cloth, 1 green drop, 1x Arcane Tome & 26 Signets. Must admit I would have expected more greens but don't really care as long as I got the schem!!

My experience, and that of a few friends who're also Engineers, has been that this drop can be a royal pain.

Personally, it took me five weeks of a couple hours a day killing Bowmen to finally get the schematic. My friends each reported a couple weeks of the same themselves. Thank goodness I had another toon that needed Scryer rep - I got probably 8-10k rep worth of Scryer items and a ton of netherweave in the process.

Anyway, be prepared to make the somewhat irritating circuit between the three major clumps of Bowmen for a long time. Random drops are, indeed, random.
Oh, and watch out for the Glacius Elemental and for Daelis. They can be troublesome if you aren't expecting them to add.

The mobs that drop this patteren are located around Manaforge Duro (59,65) in Netherstorm. It is dropped by Sunfury Bowman, not the Sunfury Archers and it is a rare drop so be prepared to make some time to get this item. Lastly this item is bind on pickup so don't expect it to be in the action house and only Engineers can get this item to drop.

Some tips that have been mentioned in earlier posts by other people are:

Hunter can have Track Elementals up to watch for a Summoner Kanthin
Pallies and Mages should not be trying to mass pull then aoe them. They are ranged mobs and will just stand where they are.
You can have any ammount of Engineering skill to get this to drop. Even if you just picked up engineering and are at 1/75
It may take 2-3 hours for it to drop
Keep an eye open for Chief Engineer Lorthander. He is a rare spawn and drops Illidari Cloak. But keep in mind he can spawn at Manaforge Ara, Manaforge Coruu, or Manaforge Duro.

You can also find the 4 groups of Sunfury Archers at these locations:

Clean row of Sunfury Bowmen (5) 62,66
Front entrance of Manaforge Duro (4) 58, 62
West Road of Manaforge Duro (3) 56, 63
Southernwest Ridge /w Daellis (4) 56, 66

And if you are only getting this patteren to level up your engineering skill to 375 you may want to reconsider with one of the 2 options.

Adamantite Rifle - A lot less expensive mats and its recipie can be bought from vendor.
Field Repair Bot 110G - Very useful to your guild for end game content. But its recipie is also a rare drop.

Be warned that this schematic my take a very long time to drop. I started farming this a 64.5 and just leveled up to 66. Most of the exp came from killing Sunfury Bowman. It still has not dropped for me.

For all of you rogues that are trying to far for this schematic, make sure you make a macro so for when you doing your opening move you also pick pocket them ie: /cast pick pocket
/ cast cheap shot

it works with anything as long as you start in stealth, just make sure pick pocket comes first, by doing this you get alot of lock boxes, maybe some gems, some healing pots, some greens, w/e decides to drop, also helps make money, not big money but money all the same. just a helpful tip to my fellow rogues

They both have similar drop rates on wowhead but this one seems much harder to get. I only have maybe 100 kills on the bowman but thats way more archers than I had to kill. The grind for this at 80 might be worse than at 70, theres a lot more down time where your waiting 3-5 minutes for them to respawn after you kill the 4 camps of them. It would be a little easier to sit here and grind these if the items they dropped were not so worthless now.

On my protection warrior, thankfully it dropped after perhaps 4 or 5 kills... thankfully because I took quite a beating.

On my shadow priest, probably 60-70 kills to get the drop, along with lots of signets, some tomes, a BoE blue necklace, and the 4 of..... something.... you know one of those cards ;), and tons of netherweave.

So either you get lucky with a quick drop of the schematic, or you get lucky with good drops of other stuff on the way. Frustrating in a way, but still profitable, so I'm not complaining.

To anyone thinking about grinding for this is worth it. It will make leveling engineering to 375 very easy, sometimes profitable. The time for it are completely random as I got mine in about 30 minutes of killing Sunfury Bowman but other people took way longer judging by the previous posts.

I just managed to get this solo as a 62 hunter but it wasn't easy at all. The graveyard is right behind the manaforge, right next to the cosmowrench flight path. There are five bowmen in the back, and usually you can pull one at a time but often I'd get two, finish one off then die. Res, loot, repeat. After every single one I was down to like 10% health and 10% mana. For a while I was on a roll where one would respawn, I'd kill him and have time to eat and drink before the next one respawned.

Killed probably 100 of them, dying at least a dozen times. Cost me around 25g in repairs and I ended up with 20 signets and 44 netherweave cloths.

The engineering skill-up guide I was following said this schematic required 355 engineering but it's 360 as noted above. So looks like I'm spending another crapload of gold to get to 360 before I can even use it. :-/

Still though... WOOHOO!

edit: forgot to mention... when it finally dropped I got killed before I could loot it, TWICE! Thank god the graveyard is right there.

Best tanking scope IMO. Stabilized adds crit but how often does a tank shoot to get that extra 1% chance. damage creates threat. forget it, id rather have more overall damage than a 1% greater chance to crit.

Got it after 57 mintues of farming on my rogue.Pain in the ass, but it felt good when it dropped. I got a fair few sunfury signets and 2 arcane tomes whilst farming as well.

After hearing that my friend killed over 80 mobs in order to get his recipe ... I really didn't want to bother grinding for it. However, I finally got up to Netherstorm and started farming ... 4th bowman kill and it dropped. ^^

Ok, as for December 7, 2007, Sunfury Bowmen at Manaforge Duro still drop the khorium scope recipe.

The reason I say this, my gnome/mage spent over 2.5 hours yesterday farming with no drop. Today he got it after 45 minutes of farming.

Have a lot of engineers, probably too many: four engineers.

Since gnomes have +15 engineering skill bonus, my gnome didn’t need this recipe to skill from 360 to 375 engineering, but the others did. They farmed the recipe in well under an hour.

But once my engineers hit 375, it makes no sense for non gnomes to make khorium scopes. Their engineering skill is maxed. And hunters covet khorium scopes (90 - 100g each), so it makes sense to produce them. My gnome (377 engineering) will do this and khorium scopes will remain orange till he hits 385 (370 for non gnomes).

The good news:

If the khorium scope recipe is an annoyingly difficult drop, you'll end up with a lot of sunfury signets and arcane tomes.

This took a good deal of patience to get. I farmed for it yesterday for several hours, racked up about 100 Bowman kills. Came back today for a few more hours and get about 100 more, finally gave up. Later I decided to give it another shot, and got it within 5 kills. I had actually come to the backside of the manaforge for the second time that session and after 2 kills, realized I had forgotten to loot a corpse, and there it was! Now I just have to get from 350 to 360 engineering!

So all in all took about 200 kills for me, over two days.

Camped the Sunfury Bowman for about 4-5 hours. 200+ kills. 60 Signets, 3 Tomes. Finally got this baby to drop. 375 Engineering...here I come! (2,000 gold later)

no way! just after the drop on the Schematic: Felsteel Boomstick 5 min ago on the 1st mob I ve killed... it just took me the time to go to Netherstorm and after the 2nd Sunfury Bowman kill it drop me the Khorium Scope schematic...

I'm complete stun! :O and happy :)

i guess it's my payment for those bad rolls i keep having :)

This was one of those patterns that I just never got around to getting, being a mage it wasn't too important. I decided to go try for it last night while I was waiting for my guilds TK run to start up, found the Bowmen and got it on the second one I killed, first time ever trying for it!

Nothing less than superperfect timing. Reached lvl 360....Had a quick look at this site....Yesterday i went grinding for the scope-plans....Killed maybe 40 Bowmen....Was called to help out a Guildmate. Later yesterday evening i bought the "Khorium Riffle"-Plans (25G) ^^
Logged on this evening. Killed another 5 Bowmen and then it dropped. From a Bowman at the entrace to the forge.

Finally found this XD. Took about roughly 140 kills.
I also found it on a corpse I had forgotten to loot.
I farmed then by going back and fourth between the 3 main areas where they spawn.
This schem is also good for reaching 375, as most other items at my level (355) require much more expensive mats.

On my way up to Netherstorm on my 66 Lock to farm for this, well, once my dimensional ripper comes off CD anyway. Badly want 375 eng so i can make the goblin engineering helm.

I got it after 269 kills. Damn AutoBindOnPickup addon was meesing with me looting and I thought I was not going to be able to loot after 8 hours. I am a lvl 66 hunter, so it took me a bit with the respawn time. So glad I got it. Now to lvl Eng and sell.

I was so cheerless when I read that the engineering skill is the hardest at 360-375... and an ornate khorium rifle(375 for craft) schematic droped for me yesterday, so i looked for some "item" which I can earn my skill, and I found 3 item, and I choose this but the droprate (0,28%) isnt so good so I went to nether and I start to farm... and the 32th mob drop it for me! This was so unbelievable so I'm now verry happy, btw:

In few days can craft this on EU-Darkmoon Faire (Pallyance site)
And Ornate Khorium Rifle, just /w Gotono

Finally, had been farming the felsteel boomstick schematic for hours upon end, gave this one a try, about 1.5hrs of farming and this one dropped. Now back to the other.

Coach-Horde can make this if you need.

Took me about 150-200 kills of the bowman to get it. The problem is, not many of them spawn. The ones at the front of the forge are all surrounded by other annoying mobs so I recommend killing the 5 or so that spawn in the back and just afk or something between spawns. Nothing will bother you back there.

Read up on this today (356 Engineering) so thought I'd burn some time trying to get it. 22 Kills. I did this with Sunfury Attack Plans (dropped on 5th kill) so overall, the 30mins was worth it.

Did this as a protection warrior, and farmed the group of Bowman at 62,67. Killed 61 of them before the schematic droppped.

I would avoid the group of bowman at 56,67. There is a named guy there called Master Daellis Dawnstrike who is a pain in the rear. Also this group of bowman tend to pull the Nether Beasts that are close by, and you can quickly end up with 4-6 mobs hitting you at once.

the main thing that really bugs me about this is the fact that its sooo expensive to make it and ppl arent not only not willing to pay the cost to make it, but about 25-50 gold less then the cost to make. engineers unite! make a profit off these or just plain flat out refuse to make them. its not like we get any real big moneymaker items to make anyway.if i start making these for over 100 gold cost im definately gonna want a nice hefty 25-40 gold profit on it as deserved

Dropped for me after maybe 100+ kills. I got 54 signets so you can probably work it out from that.

Mobs are:

55,64: 4-5 in an east west line (easy)
55,66: 4-5 in an east west line with a very nasty pat.
61,68: 6 in an east west line (easy)
58,62: 4 in a north south line (tough if you aggro too many + watch for pat)

Mobs are tough and you have pats and other mobs to contend with. Recommend to do at 70 or in a group if lower.

A flying mount will also make it much easier to move between groups - terrain is a pain otherwise.

Not worth it for the scope but worth it for an easier route to eng 375.

Dropped after about 35 kills, on a mob I'd forgotten to loot and I'd ran off to kill some other bowman, cam back to find this solo corpse that I hadn't looted yet, and voila, one schematic.

Also my engineering skill was ONLY 240. I'd recently respecced from alchemy after the potion nerf. So you don't need master training.

Been farming this for 4 hours now, killed over 300 of them, 8 arcane tomes, 9 stacks of cloth, over 100 signets 11 greens and 10 healing pots later, no schematic, so goodluck to anyone who tries to farm this, I'm also hoping posting here might change my luck, guess we'll see :)

Well I have been farming for this for probably 10+ hours with no drop, a lot of signets and tomes though, as well as a helping of greens, I just rotate around all of the groups, who don't respawn fast enough (hunter in 2/3 epics on epic mount). I wish it would drop, but I don't mind so much since I am making decent gold. Just hoping the "thottbot buff" will work for me :)

Edit: IT WORKS! No more than 2 hours of farming later, the same day and it drops! Never give up never surrender!

Seems to me that a pattern that could be made just higher trade skill trainable requiring this much grind/farming is just more of the same.

Trades got jacked up in Burning Crusade...Too much rep/grind, and then the items created are almost all trade skill req to equip. I know it stinks, but I'd almost rather buy a schematic than waste this much time.

On a counterpoint, I do like the tradeskill/BoP drop idea, it does alleviate farming exploitation in the AH, but the drop rate should be a lil more friendly.

Used to be bad enough with engineering, lol now its all of them. It seems as though if you have alts, forget getting a majority or a decent amount of the good recipes.

Dropped while I was doing my daily for the Shattered Sun Assault, didn't take more than 10 kills and there it was. Either they changed something, or I just got lucky. I Flew around and picked off the Sunfury Bowman at Manaforge Duro, they're the ones that seem to drop it.
