Droprate occurs much like the rest of the Ragesteel and Khorium armors for Blacksmiths. 8 guards total can make this grind a bit more painful, along with someone occasionally summoning Doomcryer for their quest. You'll either get it in the first 20 kills or it'll feel like a day's worth of grinding to get your hands on this plan.

Just be patient, take a break and go grind something else if it's not falling for you.

Confirmed. Drops from Anger Guards. Took 25 kills to get. Was lucky enough to get marks of sargeras x15 and 4 Fel armaments during farming for this. Above marked co-ords, are correct as well.

For those who dont have a coordinate mod, the location is forge camp anger, its is located on the right hand side if you are heading towards netherstorm. if you look on the map you will see somewhat of a blue hue around the area.

Having blacksmithing as a profession is a plus to farming this. Tried it with a 68 rogue (non bsmith) to see what the drop rate is, and around the 200th kill it dropped. I also was killed the engineers and the attendants as well, dont know if that will make the drop rate different but i cleared te whole are 3 times during this.

The Second Sight Helm is overall better than this... but paired with other set parts this gives a lot of crit / attack power, very good for a fury warrior in raid (i am). Not so good for farming / grinding / questing / pvp due to the lack of stamina tho.

I've killed about 200 of those last weekend and it still hasn't dropped for me. Got a couple Primal Shadow and some greens tough.

Hrmm, I must be horribly unlucky, because I've killed at least 500 of those Anger Guards, and no drop. If only the respawn times were quicker, it would be closer to bearable.

What I've gone to doing while farming this is to kill the first 4 Anger Guards at the front, they're easy, don't aggro each other (at 70) and then do a mining run... by the time I do a little lap, they're respawned - Kill - rinse, repeat.

They drops LOTS of netherweave so this can be helpful for bandages (obviously) or to sell in AH. I've had bad luck I think, 100+ kills and no drop -- but if you're lvling bsing, the ore you get from my method is great. Adamantite, Fel Iron, Khorium, Eternium not to mention the mote of fire and earth you get. I've also gotten 2 blue gems tonight! Good times, even if the pattern doesn't drop.

I was on the PTR randomly killing a handful of mobs in different areas trying to find the new plans for Ragesteel shoulders. While near the coilfang/water elemental area I got the plans for Ragesteel Helm... from an Enraged Water Spirit. From comments/drop rate it says only Anger Guard, but now I'm assuming they might have moved a few plans to drop from different locations.

SEEKING CONFIRMATION!!!

Did they change something on this mob? the percentage of drop rate for mote of shadow is suppose to be at 15% I believe, but I killed so many and have yet to see a single mote of shadow drop! This also has me curious as to know if this mob is still the carrier of these plans, as I have spent hours farming these eight to nine mobs, that refuses to drop the plan, so please someone tell me whats the deal is.

Yea don't give up i spent 3-4 hours just straight through farming those guys the drop rate is horrid but keep at it and you'll get it eventually plus i got about 30g in grays and greens and what not.

Took me about 1 hour, don't know how many i took down.
Not much good drops, just 1 green and a fel arnament.

I'd say, just keep grinding they will drop. ofc you need to be Blacksmith, but your skill level doesn't mather, since i myself am 362 and plans are 365 to learn.

Take out the cannons first btw.

As of patch 2.2, these plans appear to now drop from any enraged elemental type mob in SMV (I had one drop from Enraged Air Spirit).

I just started farming the Anger camp yesterday for the Ragesteel Helm plans. So far I've killed 130 Anger Guards... no drop yet. I've also killed about 45 Engineers just for good measure. I've put in about 2 hours so far.

Anyone else have recent confirmation that the plans still drop here?

I'll update my progress as I continue...

EDIT: 8 more kills, and the plans dropped. Just a tad over 2 hours of farm time and 138 kills... not too bad! Now for the last piece... just the breastplate left.

Ive killed around 300 Anger Guards and near combined amount of 1000 Air and Water elementals in Shadowmoon Valley and still no drop. This pattern is the only one im missing from the set and it just wont drop.

Just dropped for me today (11/17/07) after about 50 or so kills. Holy pal with about ~720 spelldamage made it fairly easy, but here's a good rotation (if you are 70... if not, take them 1-2 at a time):

1. Start with the first 4. Kill as many as you can comfortably take.

2. Facing the camp (after killing the front four) look left. There should be a guard with a Cannon. Take them next.

3. Just up the path to the left again is another Guard/Cannon combo. Kill them.

4. Back to the front, look to your right. On the first ledge is another Guard/Cannon combo (with a possible patrol). Separate and kill.

5. Behind should be a solo guard. Kill him.

6. In the far right corner (still using the front of the camp as a reference point) should be the last guard, solo. Kill him.

Be watchful for lone cannons, patrols, and opposing faction :P

Farming the Ragesteel plans

As an experiment when my Pally hit level 69 I stopped questing and started to grind for the Ragesteel plans. I did a couple little quests to pickup my Mech Tech Shoulders but everything else was just killing mobs that drop Ragesteel plans. I alternated between killing Ashtongue Warrior, Boulderfist Warrior, Anger Guard and Enraged Spirits (mostly Water and Air). I also got a few thousand XP from map discoveries.

The standard UI divides a level into 20 separate ‘bars’. I got my first plans from the Anger Guards at around 7 bars. And then I got nothing for 12 more bars. In bar #20 I got ‘lucky’. I got the plans from the Boulderfist Warrior at the start of the bar. And then just 2 mobs before dinging 70 I got the Ashtongue Warrior plans. So I farmed for one whole level and only managed to get three of the four plans.

I did finally pick up the 4th plan when I was farming some Air for my epic axe a couple hours later.

Looking through my current blacksmith plans and noticed it was that only piece i didn't have yet. Took 1 kill of an Anger Guard and the plan was mine. Looks like they may have upped the droprate or i got lucky. O well i'm happy.

Just got these plans about an hour ago. Can confirm that they still drop, yes yes yes. The grind was quite reasonable, only took me an hour. I suppose they've increased the drop rate or somesuch. At 80, the Anger Guards are laughably easy to kill, the only irritating thing to bear in mind is they have a charge that'll knock you on your ass.

Took me about 6-7 clears of the 8 guards to get my plans. This on the tail of getting the plans off the Boulderfist Warriors in Nagrand. Happy day.

Actual respawn time from each kill - no matter if you leave the key on them or not - is 8 minutes. Over 300 kills now and no drop.

No reason all BS shouldnt have it. Got the chestpiece passin thru while goin after the guy out on the balcony. Checked out who drops the rest and that noght got the helm in BEM on the 15 kill then headed to Nagrand for the 3rd and got it in 4 hours . So all 3 patterns in one night.

just dropped for me, im so happy. i was in evergrove getting the fp and thought id stop in and kill a few, and go quest and come back and kill some more later, dropped on my 2nd kill of the guards out front. good luck to you guys out there. the guards don't respawn too fast so i would kill them all, quest and come back later when they have all respawned.

Farming this is also done great while on the quest chain The Hound-Master (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=10912/魔犬之主), some nice neck pieces from that quest, about one for every class imaginable lol. Starts with Damaged Mask https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=10810/破損的面具

almost forgot, the coords to the camp are 72 42 in Blades Edge Mountains, happy hunting.

Had to kill more than 500 Ogre's in Nagrand for the Ragesteel Gloves plans, but at least there are many of those and other stuff drops.

This plan however sucks, 8 mobs, hundreds of kills later and nothing to show for it. Darn blizz for taking away the shadow mote drops from demons and what's up with no mark of sargeras or fel armament from these guys?

By far the worst blue recipe I have ever farmed for.

Farming these plans isn't too bad, you can pull the guards far enough away from the cannons so as you only get hit once by the cannon. The Respawn rate seems to have been fixed so that you can complete a circuit and keep going. Have killed 50 so far and no drop yet, fingers crossed ;)

Got this off one of the front 4 angerguards in blade's edge 2 days ago. Didnt count kills but took at least 4 hours total spread across multiple days. Also got a chestguard of the talon (sold for 40g) and design: sparkling star of elune (sold 200g) during the grinding process. Plus got marks of sargeras and fel armaments from nearby mobs while waiting for guards to respawn. There was also a nearby fel iron and adamantite node that spawned pretty regulary.

Well, here goes my post for luck been sitting at this damn camp for 2hrs already tonight, spent 4 there last night. Wish me luck.

UPDATE: Day 3 been farming for 2 hours and still nothing. Keeping track of kills tonight to see how many and if they drop.
UPDATE: Day 3 still farming, decided to go on murderous rampage and clear the entire camp while waiting for guards to spawn. Will keep you posted as to whether or not that works.
FINAL UPDATE: Day 3, wiping out entire camp to please the gods worked, plans dropped 8th kill after camp spawned. Also made a macro yelling "DROP THE DAMN PLANS"

This is my whining post. Did 48 runs of the 9 guards, that's 432 kills. Never got a shadow mote from these guys so it really isn't worth it.

O.k. guys.. I have farmed this whole set and it ma bey took two hours. I have listed post in all recipes to help u guys out.

I just basically scanned the comments for recent drops and cords. It worked for the most part.

The helm plans dropped for me at the entrance into the anger camp in blades edge mountain. The first guard to the right as ur directly in front of the entrance.

The cords are 72 40. I just killed the four entrance guards, killed the guard by the cannon and the lone guard to the right of the entrance. Did this four times and walaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa drop.

i hit here in order to change of pace from the mindless killing of ogres these plans droped rather easily after about 70 kills over 2 days

if you have a flying mount you can pull most stuff run away fro the cannons and kill um easily with out aggroing everything

just farm the guards out front at the entrance and the one by the cannon and the one to the far right all by him self.. do this 5 times or so and plans will drop. dont' go intothe camp anymore than those i listed to kill. did this on two of my guys one right after another and it worked for me.. flying mount helps if you got one too, kill them all then fly up and wait.. hope that helps ya

Wow, what a grind. Here is my experiance of getting all 4 plans. I got drop at blacksmithing level 340-360.

Ragesteel Gloves - Dropped off the 42nd Boulderfist Warrior in Nagrand 49,56 inside and outside of cave

Ragesteel Helm - dropped of the 2nd guard i killed in BEM at 72,40 (very happy about that)

Ragesteel Shoulders - After what seemed like 100 Enraged Air elementals( didnt mind as i needed the moted, i got sick of it and went kill enraged rock and fire's and it dropped off the 8th Enraged Fire spirit at location 48,44

Ragesteel Breastplate - Took quite a while but it dropped off the 75th Ashtongue where i farmed out front of Alter of sha'tar from one entrance to other of ruins 56,33 - 61,36(dont need to enter ruins)

i grinded in hours in a row so it would drop on the respawns that i killed .

Sure, it seems like a long grind but it's a pretty basic set-up of guys, and you can basically just kill them all in a row.

So long as their is no-one else there >.<

But it's not really a heavily farmed place :P

It will take you a while but not as long as you might think, the respawn time is actually pretty awesome and the set-up is so easy it's awesome.

Fly around the camp around the edges and land and kill the the cannons and guards, there are like 10.

a few runs around = 10-12 mobs killed, about 10 runs, like an hour or two, 100 mobs or so, and the drop should happen! :D

Pretty basic grinding, happy hunting, and happy grinding! :D

Be prepared for using a lot of time trying to get these plans. Have passed 100 kills and still no plan. The dropping rate must be changed....Hope for luck in my next attemt...have used in the region of 4 hours so far :(
Just ad another 2 hours and 80 kills more.....Blizzard must have forgot the plans on my server......

Certainly doesn't drop from the Enraged Air Spirits. Worked over 5 hours, killed at least 400 Enraged Air Spirits in SMV near Sanctum of stars.

Got the gloves after about 65 Ogres, not bad pharming

Got the Shoulders while working a quest, dropped after 12th kill so I guess I'm paying the price for the Helm. I think I'll try the Anger Guards, instead.
