Swim around the Sunken Temple.
You can get these from killing the fenzies or from the statues on the floor.
They are all the way around the edge of the water.

If you're a Dwarf, this quest is cake, as Find Treasure will make all the artifacts pop-up on your mini-map.

For everyone else, it's a bit of a pain...the artifacts are small, some are below the terrain and unreachable even though you can mouse-over them, and it's hard to see in the water.

Even so, it's not a bad quest. XP is XP, after all :)

If you are capable of underwater breathing, hunt around at the bottom of the lake in and around the underwater temple. Loads of artifacts and you deal only with the lvl 40 frenzies instead of the more dangerous dudes on land. I got all 10 artifacts within 10 minutes of hunting.

I'd like to dispute that you can get these from the Frenzies, I killed loads as I swam around and never got anything.

Easiest way to do this quest is to:

1. Get an exilr of water breathing or Unending breath
2. go to the Pool of tears (the really big pond on the map)
3. swim around and use your mouse to find the artifacts

They are few and far between but they are there. Some of them are to far down for regular breath

Not lots of locked footlockers for rouges

Also took me about 17minutes to finish.

I completed this q by swimming around the outside in the shallower parts. Took two laps and about 15-20mins but I did it without any agro.

This quest is a pain in the ass...Makes you go blind after 5 hours of doing this quest..gg..It's pretty obvious..just swim around the temple pointing ur cursor around..it's pretty obvious..kinda like a tiny white statue

I took the effort to dot down the coords of the artifacts i picked. Found 10 where you do not have to dive (couple of 'm where you need to put your head in the water....) and 2 more with some diving... but you only need 10 so...

Non Diving ones:

This takes no more then 8 minutes for the XP and the gold... :)

these things are only spawning in two places for me (74,42 and 70,65). talk about obnoxious.

Okay, I did this quest last night. Mind you, I was prowling to avoid detection as a level 41 (in the midst of level 45s) so keep that in mind.

This quest was very easy. Basically if you make the circuit of the pool in the shallow end once or twice you can get all the pieces without too much trouble. Be careful when you get to the eastern edge of the pool because the elite dragon (level 62 I think) Somnus patrols the area. I don't know if he seldom spawns or is a regular, but he will get you if you are not careful.

But there are many parts in the shallow end or just to the point where you actually can submerge. By this method, I'd say not more than 15 minutes to complete.

You should do this quest along with In Search of the Temple, which starts in the Dwarven District of Stormwind. It's a very easy quest to do and involves nothing more than just swimming into the Pool of Tears a bit.

In the pool you need to keep a sharp eye out. I found two that were not sparklinig, it took me about 15 minutes swimming around. Two circuits of the pool and I had the ten.

patch 3.0.09 they are underwater everywhere around the temple, they sparkle, and you only need 5 of them. there are no enemies down where i looked either.

Do NOT go into the temple. You can easily find the artifacts in the water surrounding the temple.

This quest first appeared in 2.0 and can be picked up in the swamp from Holaaru at 25,31.

You'll find the items around the rim and in the water, just like the quest said... Surprised? the water is murky green and the half-buried urns, idols and sacks are not easy to spot. Those along the rim the are not much easier. Just a yard or two from the water. Look for anything that aint dirt or plants.

one small anomaly though... the urns and sacks do not despawn when harvested and can only be picked up by one person at a time so dont expect to be able to interact with every one you find...

As of the patch the dragonlkin that surround the pool are no longer elite (bar one captain) and also drop Speck of Dream Dust so you can combine it with:
Dream Dust in the Swamp you havent already done it.

Make sure you pick up:
Dream Dust in the Swamp combine it with:
... and Bugs your uber-questing pleasure.

oh, and keep ane eye out for Somnus the flying dragon that brings insta-death to you and your party.

There is no follow up to this quest.

Started at about 62, 52.
Drank Elixir of Water Breathing.
Swam along bottom looking for any dark objects.
After once around the lake, headed up to look along the shoreline.
Didn't aggro anything.
Took 11 minutes.

If you aren't a Dwarf, this quest may drive you up the wall. The artifacts are dark green and the ground is dark green. A pain to spot underwater and on the shore, on top of that some artifacts don't disappear after being looted and some of them are hidden below the ground (you can manipulate but cannot see them). Took me 1 hour to complete (submarine specced Draenei), along with another guy doing the same quest but 4450 Exp and 1,20g wasn't too shabby.

If you're a Rogue around Lv 40, you might as well increase your lockpicking skill there.

So far all these posts and no post saying co-ords of the pool. Thats what people come here for.

For those who dont know - the pool is all the water area around the sunken temple. Before I get flamed - there is no mention of this in the posts or the Q description, it just says southeast.

i got five in 2 minutes just go to the temple and where you can go in ....
from that stairs you go clockwise around the temple.. go on the bottum and just 1 fish attacked me.. (was level 38)

Yeah this quest very easy. yes it does start a 62,52. you will find the 10 artifacts at the bottom of the lake. I found them to be re spawning in a clockwise direction. well good luck.

The coords for the Temple of Atal'Hakkar are 70,55 The artifacts can be found on the shore surrounding the pool. They're not that hard to find, just look closely. I found some at the following locations: 61,58 / 67,63 / 70,66 Cheers!

Soloed as a Lv 40 Human paladin with only 2 Aggros from the Lv 39 fish in the water

The co ords are in and all around the temple at 69.53 (more or less the entire area at the east of the swamp of sorrows area)

Exp gained is 4450 (not bad for quite an easy collection quest)

And rep gained is 385 with exodar

also a 1 gold 20 silver reward

The only thing slightly hard about this quest is making your way through the swamp to the Temple. I just shapeshifted into Travel and ran. It's easy to avoid the Dragonkin "guarding the temple" around it in the swamp, just follow the edge of the water paths when you see them. At level 39 I didn't aggro any of them. I found all ten artifacts in the water on the bottom. As a druid this was really easy in Aquatic form. There are only about 6 or so Frenzy in the lake level 39 & 40. The artifacts blend in really well, but many are next to or near Mossy Lockboxes, which stand out more. They are usually small round bowls with feet, but sometimes are a little different. Just remember to look in all the nooks and crannies.

An annoying quest to say the least.

Ride around the lake in a circle, staying within the shallow waters whenever possible.

The objects are tiny and take various forms some of which blend into the surrounding area forcing you to mouse around a lot to find them. Some can be found on land, but most are submerged in the shallow waters, which will require a shallow angle adjustment to underwater view in order to see them.

It took me 7 runs around the lake and still had to find half of them underwater.

By the time I had completed this quest I felt like chopping off my hand and chocking myself with the mouse.

When I 1st post this is was a rant about the lack of cords but for those of you like me who didn't think to check take a look at the horde listing for this quest. These thing are not just on the shore or in shallow water however I found several in the deep water be prepared to swim.

Swim underwater just above the dropdown of the cliff. Look side to side and 2 runs around will find you all 10 xD

Highly rec using water breathing potion the the qst will take 10 mins.
You wanna duck dive though the murk then allow an hour or two
Artifacts spawn randomly so just get down there and look.
Also rec killing frenzy fish as u go , they die easy but having em sneak up on u is a pain , lol

well another collecting quest, its surrounding the lake east past stonard, lvl40-45 creatures surround it but i did ok at lvl41 rogue(stealth) they r far and few between but i just ran around edge of lake twice and got the 10 i needed, (respawn in about 5 min est) if in a group could suck waiting for respawns, i checked in water if under their but only found locked chest that were too high for my 156skill at lockpicking but if higher go for it fellow rogues, also while waiting for respawn swam to middle ruins to get a glimpse of Jade the level ? dragon guardng the netry way to the ruins, also wath for a randomgiant green dragon (forget the name )that was flying aroudn also ? when i was 41 dont want that baby cathing u off guard,

suggest do this while getting crawler legs and dried wood since on the way,

by the way u get the quest from one of the dranai in the camp in the north east

Not too hard if you're the only one searching. Takes a while if there are others around. There are a lot of mossy footlockers here too. Maybe useful to rogues. Don't know the level of the locks though.

Coords aren't useful since the objects don't always appear in the same places. Swim around under the water in the Pool of Tears and examine anything that looks different. The cursor will change to a cog when you pass it over an artifact. They're pretty common. Took me about 15 minutes to get all 10. I did find some artifacts way at the bottom, but I found most of them just by swimming around the fringes of the Pool in the shallows.

The objects in the water around the Temple of Atal'Hakkar are small and hard to see. A few can spawn above around the water. Expect it to take around 15 minutes. The gold reward is worth it at this level.
There's also a bunch of mossy footlockers for rogues.

Set ground clutter to minimum in the game's system settings, that will make the artifacts a lot easier to spot. That ridiculous amount of mossy footlockers still gets in the way, though.

Also, try and get something that lets you breathe underwater, like the Hydrocane.

Description

I am interested in studying Azeroth's past and I'm wondering if you'd be willing to help?

There is a nearby place of historical significance within the swamp that I would like for you to venture to. The Pool of Tears lies to the southeast. It is said that upon its shores and within its depths are buried artifacts of the Atal'ai troll civilization.

But beware, it is guarded by Somnus, an ancient green dragon, and his dragonkin, as well as carnivorous fish in the pool itself!
