The core frament is a rock at the end of the cave on the Molten Bridge (at the entrance to the Molten Core).

After completing the 7 dwarves, take the path which leads Southeast. On the other sie of the bridge you will see the core fragment.

When you go down the pillar in BRM towards BRD you pass 2 big chains. After the 2nd chain you see a High Elve, he is the quest giver.

i am a 60 rogue, i stealthed it solo. great tips from the guide above, but not all stuff is needed. i only used 1 major healing pot and 1 flash powder. you stealth all the way to ambassador flamelash, go passed him towards lava. stand on edge and you will see an island to the left with 4 fire elementals on it. thats where to go first. use sprint and jump off edge out as far as you can. this is where i used my healing pot. i got 3/4 of the way there and needed it. dont bother useing stealth until you get on the island, lava dmg with break it. once you step foot on the island, vanish, then sit there and wait for heath to regen. i wouldnt eat or bandage cause they break stealth. make you way to the end of island closest to the bridge, i used distract and it was cake. then jump in lava again and swim to the left of the bridge. there is a little landing there. then you have to venture to the other side of bridge. there are 2 sets of fire elementals aroud bridge. first set is right in front. i waited for vanish cooldown, but ended up making it passed them. then go towards green portal, you will see another set of them. i stealthed to the left of that group, and right before green portal there is the core peice in a mine lookin thing. im not so sure a druid can do it, but i dont know, supose its worth a try. if you have any questions whisper Lennie on Detheroc ally side. i will help you out.

just solo'd this quest as a 59 feral druid.. i do not take all the credit though.. i followed Renvus's video every step of the way and did it.. i did not use any stealth potions.. only form of potions i used were 2 supierior healing potions.. if i knew how to make a video i would show u.. sry man.. but that was a very tense run.. since everyone is saying that druids cant do it.. and i want to thank Renvus for the guide.. thanks alot man.

Materials Required:
1 Lesser Invisibility Potion
1 Greater Fire Resistance Potion
1 Swim Speed Potion

1. Enter BRD
2. Open the 2 gates and then the prison looking door with the Shadowforge Key
3. Once you open the door you'll see a fire elemental patroling. Wait for him to leave and run up the stairs, if u stay at the highest flight of stairs you shouldn't agro anything.
4. The hardest part: Put on Aspect of Cheetah and feign death to make sure you're out of combat. Then drink the invisibility pot and run like hell left until you get to the window and jump out.
5. I did this and exactly when i landed out the windo and out of agro's way, my potion ran out so work fast
6. Now you must jump onto the bridge, try to avoid agro'ing the guards.
7. Now you're in the area leading up to Lord Incendius and you can avoid the fire elementals to your left and right if u walk down the center except for the last pair.
8. When you're near the last pair, you're near Lord Incendius and you're in a circular room, and on the edge of the room there should be a small ledge you can run on. So swiftly you must run past the fire elementals (you will agro) and once you're on the edge pray to go your feign death won't be resisted
9. Jump down into the lava and run along the left side until, you see an island with MANY fire elementals (not the first island, the second island.) Then you must use your swim pot and swim to the base of the island. Once you're at the base of the island you'll probably have to wait for your invisibility pot to cooldown, once it does use the pot and run to the molten bridge.
10. Now you should see 3 fire elementals. Use your greater fire resistance pot and run into them and then feign death when you're out of the agro radius.
11. You should see 3 more fire elementals and behind them is the core fragment
12. Wait for the invisibility cooldown and use it and run to the core fragment, loot it and you're done

Wouldn't it be possible for someone to enter a raid group going to MC and when the group gets there through the Attunement thing they just go out of the instance and summon the guy who has walked into BRD? Althought this is a good thoguht it seems a little too easy.

You can only do this as 5 man.

We did it on 2 hours on the normal way.
Just head for the emperor and then turn of in the end, and kill the elemental guardians.

I would prefer:

Paladin
Warrior
Mage
Priest
Warlock

for doing this quest... everyone should be (55-60)

It appears you no longer have a crystal to click on to enter MC, just click the quest giver or jump out of the window NEXT to him.

All you need is a few invisibility potions, and maybe some fire protection potions. It helps to be a night elf, because you can shadowmeld in certain places to allow patrols to go by. You also need to have the Shadowforge Key, and have to be able to solo a single lvl 50 Bloodhound. Basically, I followed the path that the rogue takes in the video someone posted earlier, but at the beginning, where he uses distract to make the dog look away, I popped an invis pot, and I went to the right of the group of men, directly toward the dog. He senses you, but he will be the only one aggro'd if you run into the middle of the room. Once you kill him, just avoid aggroing mobs till you get to Incendius, then you can aggro the two elementals and jump into the lava on the left. Doing that takes you out of combat and resets the elementals. All thats left is watching for the elementals in the lava to pat away from you, and you can make your way on the same path the rogue did. Once at the final bridge, pop another invis pot (before you run up, because even as a lvl 60 you cannot run in front of the bridge without aggroing the elementals), and bolt across. I stopped in the middle to be safe, waited for the pot cooldown, and popped one more to avoid the last group. In total, about 10g in pots on my server, and you have yourself a solo'ed MC attunement.

I did this with 1 fire pot and 1 invis pot, on a mage.

I went left side of the lavapool, ignore the island and got under the bridge, all with one fire pot (and one fire ward).

The harder part is getting to the lava pool.

Mages can cross lava without potions - Just!

It IS possible, i know i know.. hard to believe but if you have ur 60 Fire Ward, use it before crossing to island, wait untill it has about 8sec left and jump in, blink, as sonn as u can re-do fire ward.

I made easier for myself using Arena Grand Master too =P

Was easy, just follow the same way that the rouge version was, except instead of crossing the bridge u can go to the walkway to the left, cast rejuvenation and swim across the lava to the left of the bridge, from there u can climb up and stealth past the 2 remaining elementals. Finished within 10 mins ^.^

Done with 63 Hunter and 62 Rogue. 62 Rogue could easily solo with vanish. Lava jump and your straight.

Well I watched the videos and decided to give it a shot. I felt this video was the most helpful but I didn't like changing into a seal.

I am a restoration spec'd Druid at level 57. I felt that the easiest path for me was through the bar in BRD. (the directions are mentioned above) I already did the quest with Nag in the bar so all I had to do was talk to her and she went and made out with the guy therefore opening the door. I then stealth to the fire lizard boss (doorway on the left) and unstealthed at the far first ledge to the left. The only potions I felt were beneficial are the Swim Speed and Greater Fire protection potions. (I felt the fire potion was key as it absorbed +2400 of lava fire damage note that I one have about 2500hp) Eventho I could change into a seal, I found that morphing took too much time and it distracted me when trying to swim to the first island. (I tried like 10 times with no success). I had a stave and chest armor that combined to add +100 to healing. On the ledge I drank the greater fire prot potion then waited for the 2min cool down. During the wait, I watched the lava for those pesky patrolling fire elementals. One wronged timed jump will aggro him and send you to a quick grave. (I learned the hard way) Once the cooldown was over, I cast regrowth and drank the swim speed potion. Right after the swim potion, I quickly run/jump off the ledge and cast rejuvenation in the air and swam to the closest edge of the island with the 4 elementals. Make sure you are tip so as to not agrro the closest fire elemental (another lesson learned) I healed then stealthed around the elementals to the opposite end of the island. While stealthed I jumped in to the lava to the ramp. Once there I healed and stealthed my way thru the 2 groupings of elementals. The core is behind the second group of three elementals and before the molten core instance. You will not aggro the elementals at the core.

I just soloed this quest today as a lvl 63 warrior. It is quite easy, as long as you dont agro a lot of people. here are the step by step instructions for a warrior...
Materials: at least 2 invisibility pots, food, some fire resistiance pots, some healing pots, possibly a swim speed pot, and shadowforge key.

1. as you enter, go left and open the gate with the key.

2. head to the dark iron highway. go to the right side. you will need to pull the hound that is on that side and kill it. run against the wall, not agroing the NPC's there. go to the doors to the right after avoiding those NPC's, also avoiding the other NPC's in the highway.

3. you should be in another room with 5-6 other NPC's right by the door which you exited. avoid them and walk through the door guarded by 2 fire guards. if done right, you shouldnt agro those guys.
4. you are now in the hallway where you go to lord incendius. you will need to kill the final 2 fire guards in that hallway, since they are so close together.

5. after killing those guys, you should be in the room with the lord. on either side of the room, there are a little path to folo. go to the right one, not falling into the lava. you should be into another hallway after heading all the way around. depending on the 2 fireguard's lvls, you can either walk through without agroing or you might have to kill them.

6. you should be in the room with the golems. go to the right side. there should be a little metal path. folo that until the rock on that side ends. jump down and you should land in lava. quickly swim a little ledge that u can get your health back. once you get all your health back, quickly swim in the lava along the rocks. there should be a small area for you get your health back.

7. after you're at full health, use a fire pot and swim over to a little island by a bridge. to find it, swim around the rocks and you should see it. go to the end of that island where the fire guards should not be able to get you.

8. wait for your fire resistance pots to become back to normal and use one again. to the left is another big rock. swim around that and you should see a bridge above you. the end of the bridge is a little rock ramp where you can get up on. get there and wait for your invisibility pot to recharge.

9. after it recharges, walk up the ramp and you should see some more fire guards. DO NOT go to the wirey path, that doesnt lead to the core. use you pot and run up to the bridge and across the bridge as fast as possible. depending on the length of the pot u use, either stop at the middle of the bridge for it wear out or keep going. if it's a lesser one (15 sec), stop in the middle of the bridge and wait for it to recharge. if it's bigger then that, keep goin to the poral to the core. to the left of the portal is a rock sticking up. that is it to finish the quest. after getting it either hearth back to ur inn or get killed by the fire guards and turn in the quest.

I would recomend this to any warrior lvl 63+ because of the aggro issues. if you need any help, i am Mattrix on realm Baelgun. Good luck!

ATT: ALL ROGUES! Check out the link to the U-Tube video. I believe a previous post has it. I just typed in "attunement to the core" on yahoo search and found the link on the second page. You'll need 3 greater fire protection potions for insurance but its not that bad. once ur past the lava swim its cake. but fyi u dont ever have to set foot on that first island of flame elementals. that was the hardest part to figure out for me. good luck all.

The core fragment is a narrow gray object against the wall, just to the left of the portal. It's between the bridge and the portal.

No thanks to all the folks who posted elaborate soloing schemes and neglected to mention how to find this seriously invisible object.

This thing is really easy for a priest. You only need a few things:
1. someone with a key
2. some sort of inviso pot
3. at least lvl 58. if not, you'll need more inviso pots.
4. not required but would help to have points to make your renew and your bubble better.

Just go in and go through the gate to the left, through the gate go through the next gate on the right, then the first door on the left. Still haven't aggroed anything and the key guy can leave.

It would be safer to have a 2nd inviso pot to use here, but it isn't necessary. If you do, don't take it till the top of the stairs. Wait for the elemental to pass in front of the door. bubble, run up the first set of steps, turn left and run down the hall. rebubble when the first breaks, renew when the 2nd breaks. Jump out the window onto the ledge, then cut left to the next ledge. Good spot to mana up if needed.

hop down and stay to the right across the bridge. go through the center of the elementals without aggroing them. bubble about halfway down the hall. When you get into the next room, immidiatly jump left into the lave and keep jumping till you get to the ledge ahead of you.

Keep following the ledge around, bubbling and renewing as neccesary. make sure to keep jumping in the lava ( if you just swim, it hurts more).
You'll come to the end of the ledge at a wall. good spot to mana up if you need to.

Bubble and jump into the lava close to the wall. Stay near the wall and jump to the island with the elementals on it. just get to the tip where the lava doesn't hurt and stop. you shouldn't need mana at this point, but you can if you want and let your bubble cool down. Jump back into the lava near the wall and continue on till you come to a ramp.

up the ramp is a catwalk with an elemental at the end. About halfway down the catwalk at the curve, jump back into the lava to the right and forward on the another ramp. it's not the big open area to the right. kinda blends in with the wall. stop at the ramp. drink inviso potion and run past the elementals. Core is against the wall behind them. to exit, convert to a raid group and enter molten core. then exit again and turn in the quest.

This thing shouldn't take more than about 10 minutes at most, if you have good drink. Also, before you go into a dangerous area, bubble and wait for a few secs before you go so when your bubble breaks you can rebubbble immidiatly without wating for the "can't be bubbled yet" thing to go away. This is especially important when you get to the first few mobs and make your mad dash down the hall. if you can't maintain your bubble in this part, they can make you walk really slow and really mess you up. I'm a jewelcrafter so I have a bunny trinket that can disable those effects if needed. this trinket is BoP so don't expect to buy one.

You can complete the quest while dead. Once you get the fragment, kill yourself (I preferred removing all armor and seeing how far I could run back through the fire elementals). Come back to BRD from the Spirit Healer at Thorium Point, and just stop by Lothos Riftwaker at the entrance and complete quest. Go back to the instance, hearth, and done.

this is the most fun quest to try to duo as a 60 warrior and druid without stopping (like not even stopping for food or water or health or healing etc...)

Soloed this with 70 lock easily, only one potion used.

The mobs have VERY SMALL aggrorange while lvl 70.

I killed only arena-boss, Pyromancer, Flamelash and Phalanx :)

at Incendious i jumped off the ledge into the lava and jump skipped to the first rock with 4 fire elementals, took maybe 600 damage (as long as you keep jumping you won't take damage), once i figure out which direction i needed to go i started jump skipping to the next rock with 4 fire elementals on it, took about 1200 damage that time (two hits of 600 damage, then i jump skipped to the ramp coming out of the lava on the side of the rock thats closest to the bridge, you will see where you need to go. once you get on the surface you will see two pairs of 3 fire elementals, once you get past the second set you will se the fragment off to the left of the instance portal.

Don't bother killing yourself for this as MethRattle mentioned, all you need is 1 person to invite to group then convert to raid u can enter MC then and zone back out your standing on the quest givers toes then to complete the quest =)

I started playing after BC came out,so never got the attunement for Molten Core. The instructions all look pretty easy to follow. Except for the key part.

Where do you get the key to open the gates from?

ok i get all this stuff about attunement, but i cant find the actual entrance to MC, i was kicked from my raid yesterday just because i couldnt find it, and i was a lvl 70, a major help in a 60 Raid, someone tell me where the entrance is :)

You never had to do this quest to be "attuned" to MC. The only thing this quest gives you is that you can teleport to the entrance of MC directly instead of going through BRD. If you don't wanna do this quest you can still enter MC but you'll have to go through the painful trials of BRD everytime you do.

Was bored so thought i'd try this attunement.
Level 70 Tier4/5 Alliction Warlock. Found this easily soloable by following a guide I found on wowwiki....link here

Only difference is instead of invisiblity potions or stealth, i just killed anything in the way :)

It is a fun way to spend an 30 minutes if you've nothing better to do and getting attunement means u can portal there in the future....not sure i'll ever go there though :) lol Its nice to compete things too :)

this is a post for all of you out there who, like me before i completed this quest are thinking: I DONT WANT TO SPEND A BUTTLOAD OF CASH ON POTIONS! I DONT WANT TO JUMP INTO LAVA! AND I DEFINATLEY DO NOT WANT TO SPEND HOURS WAITING FOR COOLDOWNS! here is a quick and simple guide on how the hell you get from the instance portal to the molten core raid portal (bear in mind this only works if you have someone with a shadowforge key)

step one: as you enter blackrock depths there will be two ways to go: one is directly in front of you, DO NOT go this way.
the other is barred by a gate that requires the shadowforge key.
have your handy shadowforge key carrier open it for you (otherwise have a rogue/engineer pick it or blow it up ;])

step two: there is a fire elemental in this area. there will be a second gate to you right. this is where most people go wrong. they think you are supposed to head straight down the tunnel (i know, ive made about every mistake its possible to make in BRD.
anyway, go though this gate and go up to the east garrison door which should be on your left side.

step three: open the door and you should be in a room with lots of guards and fire elementals in it. dont go up the stairs yet but isntead kill all the mobs u have to to reach the shadowforge lock in the center of the room. when you ahve used it go up the stairs and you will find yourself in a small room that has two immediatley obvious ways out of it. one though is barred by an immpassable metal grille. the other goes on upwards. remeber here that if you end up in the ring of law youve gone the wrong way.

step four:go along the hallway to your left killing only what aggros you shouod arrive an an area that is called something like the makery.go nearly to the end but head right. after a few fireguards, you should soon reach a resturaunt called the 'grim guzzler' for those who have the quest ribbly screwsoigot is here. be careful what you say to him though! insulting him will cause him and his cronies to attack you. go up the stars into the upper part of the resturuand and talk to one of the mobs there. something you say should cause the entire upper ledge to attack you. dont worry though, theyre non-elite but its still pretty tough.

step five: kill the phalanx boss and then wait around a minute getting mana/health up. some fireguards will come in thru the door the phalanx was guarding. kill them and proceed thru teh door. u should now be on a ledge of shadowforge city oppsite the black coffers and above the black anvil.

step six: clear the ledge and go down the main door.
you will be in an area that has some stone elementals in it. try and get past withouut aggroing if you can. go through the door and you will be in a wonky-shaped red room. talk to the guy as far away from the entrance as possible.

step seven.kill the guys that spawn and proceed thhroiugh the door that will have opened. you will bve at a T-junction now. for the MC raid portal turn right and fight some fire elementals. as soon as you turn the corner you should be able to see the raid portal go up to it and use the rocky outcrop to your left just before the portal (its not hard to find).
take the core fragment and then either go and face the final bosses or you can cinvert to a raid group, step inside MC and step out again. this willl have you standing beside the questgiver.

complete the quest there and let me congratulate you, you are now attuned to the molten core!

Surprised no one has posted here? lol

When I obtained the fragment, I ran into MC, then exited again. When I exited the instance I was outside BRD right where the NPC is to turn the quest in. Just thought that could help anyone to save them a trip!

If you are doing this quest in solo, you are probably jumping into lava, or throwing yourself on elementals to die and quickly run from the graveyard of the Searing Gorge. If you do it differently, then in vain.
Remember that you can turn in this quest as a spirit. NPC talking with the spirits well to get them back to raid after wipe.
After that, run into the resurrection basement and use the return stone, and not run to hand over the quest.

Quick need-to-know basis guide*.

Helpful items before you start:

healing potion
fire protection potion
swim speed potion
Shadowforge Key (not required)

You can also get Shadowforge Key while you're doing Attunement to the Core, these steps are marked "(optional)" below.

Part 1: Getting the quest

Fly to Thorium Point in Searing Gorge, enter Blackrock Mountain, enter the Molten Span.
In the Molten Span you'll see a chain to your left.
Run through the chain past the Meeting Stone and then all the way down OR
Jump straight into lava, turn around and get on a small ledge leading to the platfrom, then turn right.

Pick up Attunement to the Core from Lothos Riftwaker.
(optional) If you also want to get Shadowforge Key, die near Lothos Riftwaker, run back via 3.1 route, and pick up Dark Iron Legacy from Franclorn Forgewright in Forgewright's Tomb room as a ghost.
Turn right, run through the quarry and enter Blackrock Depths.

Part 2: Doing the quest

Immediately turn left to the closed door.
Open the door with Shadowforge Key OR
Jump on the cave wall from the left bench, then jump into the orifice between the wall and the pillar.

Run straigth to the Dark Iron Highway.
Turn right, run through Shadowforge City gate, run past Blazing Fireguards to the Black Anvil.
(optional) run past the Black Anvil, kill Fineous Darkvire in the Hall of Crafting to get Ironfel for Dark Iron Legacy, run all the way south via the Domicile to the Shrine of Thaurissan (going backwards through the instance) and complete the quest at Monument of Franclorn Forgewright, then return to the Black Anvil.
Turn left (right if you're coming from the Hall of Crafting) and jump down into lava, then get on the ledge.
Swim to the near island with some Fireguard Destroyers on it.
From here you can see the Molten Bridge, which is north from the island.
Swim to the next Fireguard Destroyer island.
Swim to the ledge under the Molten Bridge.
Pass the Molten Bridge and take Core Fragment from Core Fragment.
Return to Lothos Riftwaker.

* This guide was written because there were no "Burning Crusade" comments and is mainly for TBC/boosted characters who do not want to dive into stories of the past.
