Tried to solo him as a 42 rogue with green gear (mostly quest rewards). He's now level 37 with roughly 10k health. Definitely possible to solo with slightly better gear (my weapons are particularly poor ;) ) but only managed to get him down to 2k health before he pwned me. Hits for around 200+ on leather, and his disease cloud hit for roughly 35 nature dmg every 3 seconds. Also immune to cheap shot/kidney shot, gouge may work though.

As you fight him, you get messages in your text box that say things along the lines of "Glutton is hungry" and "Glutton is VERY hungry."

Each time this happens, Glutton's attack speed increases.

I soloed this dude as a 42 feral druid. Pretty easy fight, just tank and spank. I had to shift out and heal myself once. Then again, i was semi-twinked.

His name means a person who eats or drinks alot, hence his speech, "Glutton is hungry" and "Glutton is VERY hungry."

Glutton is a level 37 elite abomination mini-boss found in Razorfen Downs. He is a powerful melee fighter and repeatedly enrages with the emote "Glutton is getting hungry!" during the fight, attacking even harder.

Glutton patrols the lower tier of spiral of thorns, and can be pulled without any adds if you wait for him to wander to an opportune place.

On my lvl 39 twink rogue i almost killed him i got him down to 2.5k health. SO for an average player I would say you cant solo him until level about 44-46 sounds about right.

Soloed as a Lvl 40 feral Druid.

Stealth into the hallway of his patrol tracks. There will be a lot of undead npcs, but in groups of 4-5. There will be a small amount of space in between the groups of undead, so it will be ideal to tank him there. Patrols will come in groups of 2 (Usually a caster and Melee), but they respawned in my case, so i ignored them in the first attempt.

Once Glutton comes near you in the space between any 2 groups of npcs, HoT yourself and pull with FFF. Hug the wall and tank him parallel to it and pray you don't aggro the pats (I did on first try :P). Use Frenzied Regeneration early in the fight so the 3 minute CD will be down once he enrages at 10~15%.

Maul away! Remember to keep up Demoralizing Shout and FFF!

Speccing into SoF may be useful, though it wasn't necessary(Had 5/5 Heart of the Wild instead). I also recommend for druids higher levels than lvl 40 to spec into imp LotP might be very useful for the heals.

Overall, have fun! GL with your spaulders, mine dropped on first kill :)

this miniboss patrols the very 1st part of the spiral 2 final boss.
Just soloed him with my lvl 50 rogue.

He drops blue roguish shoulders (lvl 37 item).
He cannot be stunned/interrupted and on low hp gains some kind of frenzy attack.

This guy is one hell of a fight.
I am a 40 Feral (mostly) Druid with good gear, mostly blues, including ironshod bludgeon. Anways, I soloed this guy several times. The fight usually takes about 5 minutes. I usually get off 2 Frenzied Regenerations off durring one fight, an innervate, and at least one potion (sometimes 2).

Advice I would give to any Druids who would like to do this is, HAVE PATIENCE. Pop your first Frenzied Rejuvination as early as possible, then save the second use for when he is at about 15%. Start off in bear form, and stay in bear form. If you wait to break bear form to heal when you are below 1k health, you are going to die. As well make sure you have full Nature's Focused, because this will be nearly impossible without it (and its a very useful talent anyways). GL to ya.

This boss may have the tag "40 Elite" but he's WAY stronger than any other 40 elite you'll encounter. He's more like a 45 elite, his damage output is HUGE and his amount of hp is seemingly endless.

Tried him 5 times with my rogue 43 with half blues/half greens and some enchants, but no way I'm getting him below 20% hp, not even with buffs, scrolls and potions (and the SM dog whistle).

The shoulder didnt drop for me after 17 runs, yes.. Bad luck i know. If your gunna grind this place for the shoulder,.. Do it the short way O.O

Soloed with lvl 45 MM/Hunter. Just had to make sure I pull him away from the path with the patrolling guards, once they come in, it's a lost battle. Had to FD twice to reset aggro, but other than that, kept healing pet and pouring multi shots and arcane shots. Immune to concussion shots.

I'm a 38 feral spec druid, none of my friends or guild want to go with me to RFD so im gonna try and solo glutton, can anyone tell me,probably the minimum level I could beat this guy at?(Just using Healing Touches, no potions or anything)

When i fought glutton the second time and he dropped the flesh hide shoulders i was so relieved, I was in a group with an annoying leader that made me be healer or else... pretty stupid considering i was a feral druid. But it payed off in the end, glutton dropped the shoulders and i rolled on them. Luckily no competition and i got them. It is possible to beat glutton solo, druid bear form, and mabe a warrior or a pally can preform this at around level 40-45 don't preform it any lower because in PvE enemies can preform crushing blows on you, which do alot more damage then they should if you aren't around their level. and only enemies can do this., if your a druid, prowl through most of the instance and kill when you need to, take the shortcut and when glutton is alone with none of those cold souls or anything by him then attack him in bear form, build up rage and keep the rage high, occasionally using maul, use frenzied regeneration when your near 30-40% health, and get your rage back up, when glutton becomes enraged you will defianatly need another frenzied regeneration so use your first one near the start of the battle. Most likely its going to be a druid wanting these anyways.

Soloed him as a 46 draenei shaman, had to use a healing pot. wasn't too easy but done on first try. Took a good while clearing the way to him. Came to get the axe that was improved in patch 2.3 =)

Had 10631 health at lvl 37. Soloed with a 46 Warlock not too much trouble. Had to heal pet of course many times. And I replaced all my dots must have been 4 whole cycles. So maybe a 1.5 - 2 full minutes of a fight.

I just soloed him with my 53 paally. Accually he is lvl 37 from when i killed him. he has good resistance to stuns, because whenever i trisd to stun him, he just resisted it. he alo has some pretty good armor. only kept hitting 110s on him and i usually hit in the 180s (im using a 1h mace), i suggest a healer if u r lvl 35-45, and suggest u have a lot of armor to try to kill him.

Glutton is a big level 37 Elite Abomination, and he glows green. Why? Disease Cloud. Kind of like an aura that hurts you. He has a lot of HP and a lot of Damage. He's Big, Green, And he hurts.

i looked at this boss and i cant see anything he drops it says 0% for all qualitys this a glitch? anways can anyone tell me what the drop% is for the fleshhide shoulders is?

Dropped shoulders today. Ran with 42 druid and 54 hunter, was teh easy mode obviously, shoulders are sweet. Oh yeah he's a funny dude, and he gets mad hungry. Watch out when he does, he hits harder.

Trying to solo this guy as a lvl 42 rogue. I can get him to about 30%. He's crit'ing me for 500+, and the constant disease clowd for around 30 dmg doesn't help.

I'm a very well geared ex-twink, but the 12,000 hp takes forever to pound down...

i don't really think this is a Full Metal Alchemist reference, the word "Gluttony" has been around a hell of a lot longer then that show :D haven't you seen that movie SE7EN? gluttony is one of the 7 deadly sins. glutton better watch out, i might try to sneak some wooden floor board shavings into his pasta, and then steal his Fleshhide Shoulders >.> <.<

Wanted the shoulders and so solo'd to get them.
Entered then stealthed past the first couple groups and dropped down at the broken bridge.
I cleared out the the non elite skelly's and waited where the ramp down hits the bottom.

Did expose armor for 5 points then just the usual after (evasion, SS, EV), beat him with 20% left. Used my herbology buff but did not need a potion to beat him. He dropped the Blade.

Reset same thing but this time was way ahead and then took a huge crit from him when he was down to a couple hundred hit points that took me down to 100 so used the potion (was lucky I was paying attention) and the shoulded dropped. Point being, as other posters have noted, he gives out mad crits when he's hungry so I was lucky cause I was doing my victory dance a little early.

Headed up to the coldbringer just to see what would happen (has no Rogue drops, dagger is not that good) and only got her to 40% before her and the spawns killed me.

Dunno if it was when he got "hungry" like poster said below, but I fought this guy last night as a level 44 druid in dire bear form with armor just over 4600. He was triple-hitting with damage as high as 100 (crit), averaging about 50-60.

He also has a knock-back attack that tosses your main tank across the room and can make the tank lose aggro til he can run back to the action. It happened to me 3-4 times during the fight.

This is getting painful. I've died many times soloing him as a 47 hunter. Just getting to him can be fatal (especially when feign death fails). Have managed to kill him three times and received the cleaver three times. sigh... i hope the shoulder's drop next.

I was tanking for my group in bear form and we had 2 healers but neither would heal me. I died and realesed and some one won my frickin shoulders. Pissed me off.

This mob has Windfury - can do 3 hits at once. He bursted me for 600 damage so watch out. If you want to solo you can buy or craft a very cheap Nature Protection Potion. Made it easy. Verified on Classic 1.13.

This was an easy stealth run for lv44 druid and lv43 rogue to get the leather shoulders for us both. Stay in stealth and take a right after entering, then drop down to the left when you get to the end of the path with a bunch of mobs. Stick against the wall and go right until you see Glutton and pull him back against the wall to avoid any pats running past.

Tanked as druid bear form, make sure to keep demo roar up to minimise damage and I kept a lot of rage in the bank to use frenzied regeneration when I got to about 1k hp.

Soloable at 45 lvl as sub dagger rogue (and possibly earlier too) with gnomish engineering
Preparation: buy a few Nature Protection Potions from AH, and a few of the best available Healing Potions. Instant Poison should be on both daggers. Pop NPP when you enter the dungeon, so that you can use the healing potion during the fight.
Trinkets: at lvl 40 gnomish engineer has access to 3 pet trinkets (Gnomish Battle Chicken, Mechanical Dragonling, Mithril Mechanical Dragonling) and Gnomish Shrink Ray. Use 1 pet trinket (start with chicken because of shorter CD) and shrink ray.
After you enter the dungeon, it takes like 2 minutes to get to the boss without aggroing anything while in stealth. Go right at the beginning, then jump down, then go South. Use Distract to be safe! Watch the boss' movements for a few minutes, to figure out where to attack. Watch for patrols (somehow they never bothered me on my attempts).
Open with Distract then Ambush then pop both trinkets. Ghostly Strike (if you have it) on CD for extra dodge. Use Evasion after shrink ray effect ends. Later on, Prep for another Evasion. Healing potion when you get below 1k HP.
My experience:
3 attempts at lvl 43 all ended with failure, but I didn't know about the NP potion
1st attempt at lvl 45 (w/ Onyxia Buff, w/o NP potion) was successful but then pet aggroed some mobs and I died, losing the buff
next 2 attempts at 45 lvl w/ NPP succeeded easily
