For a Hunter, Humar is just like the average cat pet, with the exception it has a 1.5 attack speed, and is the only black lion in the game so far.
To find him, you must head to the trees just north of ratchet. There is one tree that has lions around the tree in a horse shoe shaped formation. When Humar the Pridelord spawns, he completes the horse shoe to make a full circle. On a PvP server for alliance, this is the hardest pet to tame, otherwise, it is a lot of luck and a lot of waiting.

Humar is a pet that many hunters want for his looks. He does currently have a good attack speed. However, once BC is released the current talk is that all pet attack speeds will be normalized to 2.0.
If you are camping Humar and are a skinner, you may as well kill off the surrounding mobs to get the skins. I also ended with about 25 greens so far, still trying to get him.
Like the previous post has pointed out, he is a random spawn that only happens 2-3 times a day.

Just tamed on Frostwhisper. The comments people make on rival sites like this about him not spawning if you stand around waiting are lies, he will spawn even if you stand right on his spot. I camped him from 3:30pm til now around 10:15pm and got him. Concussed him following the advice I'd read and led him to the frost trap at my feet which got me to 4 seconds remaining on the tame bar when he started to eat me. I then dismissed him when I hit Revive Pet because I was shaking with nerves, then Titan Stance performed an illegal operation and I had to reload my UI and by the time I actually got to feed him, I was a nervous wreck, but I got him fed and he's now mine.

Lvel 23 Hunter. Just tamed him. Didn't have to use any frost traps or anything, though I did load up on stam buffs (Priest buff, Food buff). He got me down to about 20% health before tame popped. All in all, I would say he is not as difficult to tame as many have stated. Also, I can't confirm nor deny the spawn time, since I was there long enough to kill about 5 Matriarchs before he spawned, probably about 10 minutes.

I just tamed Humar. The directions, co-ordinates and all are completely correct. You can verify you are in the right place because there are matriarchs and cubs wandering around; I have not seen them under other trees.
I'm geared with standard gear from doing Ghostlands quests; nothing on the AH, and I managed to tame him with just Aspect of the Monkey on; I was down to about 40ish% health. I don't think you can last a taming if you are being hit by other mobs, at least at level 23. Make sure you pull the mobs in your path and clear them out first, obviously avoiding aggroing Humar.
I play on a relatively low-pop server (Ravenholdt) but he was there the first time I looked at 23, and I have seen him before as I fly over from Ratchet. Obviously, good times to check he is there are silly times for other people: before you go to work, while people are at work/school, and very late at night.
I have only seen Humar once on another hunter, I am under the impression that now pets have the same attack speed, and all cats have the same stats, many people who may have considered taming him previously simply can't be bothered. I see a whole bunch of Echykayees instead, and I think you'd have to be semi-clued into getting hunter pets if you realised you could tame Echy rather than just beat the heck out of him for the quest. I seriously don't expect you'd need to camp the Humar spawn spot for long; checking once in a while during those times for more than a couple of days would probably work.

OK im a Hunter currently lvl 67, i tamed him when i was 23, died a couple times, just cause it was my first time playing, didnt noe what to do. but i used trap to help. yes spawn times are hella long. as for me i was very very lucky, each first time i went to tame him, he was there, then next couple of times i went to farm for items he was there. then after that it was no show. he did have 1.5 AS b4 BC, and beast spec, he gets i believe around 1.0 or less, dont really remember. iv had him ever since, i got him mostly for looks. and 2nd best attack speed b4 BC. really rare pet. i hardly see ppl with him. i do see occasionally. but now a days. ppl getting the transparent leopard. well to all hes really good pet, can tank well. not perfect thoe. but bring alot of food. because its like all pets when u first tame. he will leave u fast if u dont feed him

I don't know what the big deal is about taming him. I camped him & camped him & got him at 8:30am when I woke up.
He's a rare elite, but those kind rarely ever hit like regular elites. In my experiences rares are just like normal mobs (I could be wrong, but it's never been hard to take a rare down).
Anyway, just to be safe, I set a freeze trap (at level 23), then I tamed him. It was that easy. He stayed trapped for most of the time and just hit me twice. Named him Hero =)

I just tamed this Beauty today. Was fighting over the Spawn with a few Alliance members. I actually felt like being nice and let them have the first spawn. Waited about 24 hours before I actually got him. Named him Cornbread.
It may seem like he will NEVER spawn but I can assure you patience is key. Hope this helps!

Got him.. lv 23 hunter.. went on vacation about 5 minutes after i caught him so didn't have time to post..
-Set up frost trap
-use concussion shot
-when he is out of trap, you should be about 1/2-3/4 done with taming him
i only lost about 1/4 my health.. no buffs or anything

Btw, i was lvl 23 and just needed to frost trap him, and im pretty sure i wouldnt need the trap tho, he's not that hard to tame.

been around for 6 hours flat. no sign yet, all though im not giving up. 3 other hunters before me gave up the waiting, hopefully the one with the longest patience gets him. all though when i tamed him with my ne hunter on another server i noticed that no adds attack at all when you tame him, no real use for clearing at all in other words. happy hunting!

This cat is a nice tame for a hunter and he used to have an attack speed of 1.3, but because of the normalization the only thing special about him is his fur color. Just be wary of tracking him down because he is a very rare spawn, and it took me three days of camping his exact spot of spawn which is a tree that is just north of ratchet, a few other low leveled lions are there. But I thought it was worth the time.

I tamed Humar this morning at about 7:30 AM. I didn't want to sit there and wait forever, so last night I parked my hunter just on the hill by the tree. This morning I logged in to Humar laying on the ground under the tree! I layed down my freezing trap and tamed him right away.
I am to say the least a bit disappointed in the size proportion he is to a Draenei compared to how big he is to a blood elf.

Just tamed him! 8:30 in the morning. Sat my Night Elf Hunter, Skorpio, at the Inn in Ratchet and just ran up to the tree whenever I got a chance. And there he was!!
So now I have two barrens rares, my main the Scorpid Death Flayer and now Humar. I am happy.
He looks great! Now for a name....

I just tamed him today as a level 23 Huntress and there's a neat trick that I used to get him without taking any damage. In fact he didn't even make it to me.
First I had saved the "Really Sticky Glue" from the level 7 Durotar quest "A Solvent Spirit" This quest reward is on the engineering timer. The glue holds a target for 10 seconds.
After closing until just within the glue's 20 yard range (guessing on the exact range, but it's less than 30) I moved two steps closer and laid a frost trap. Once the frost trap was down I used the Glue on Humar and started taming him.
Once he broke free of the glue he ran straight into the still waiting frost trap. He was mine well before the frost trap expired.
It worked very slick. I'd definitely recommend saving that glue for difficult tames.

Funny story on how my hunter got Humar...
For two days straight I'd been coming back to see if I could spot him and for two days straight an orc hunter was there in waiting ... so I decided that I didn't need to compete with him and logged out at the tree. I woke up at 5 am the next morning and rushed to my computer in hopes he'd be there. As I logged on a raptor was in process of killing me! Out of the corner of my eye I see Humar, but I have to deal with the raptor first. My health is low, so I take a second to regain and then set the ice trap for Humar and start to channel him ... and he kills me! I'm at the grave, cursing and running back, hoping I can try again and when I rez he's gone. :(
So I'm trying to figure out why ... once they kill does he have to respawn again anyway, maybe I should kill every lion in sight and see if he will come back ... why is he gone?! I wait around for 20 mins and nothing ... and I am very disappointed ....
Decide to log off and go back to bed. Next morning I log on and in my log on frame is .... Humar .. standing beside me. :)
Logged back on and whistled and there he was!
At the same time he killed me I also tamed him. :))
Now he's my favourite.

Tamed this big fellow over the weekend, I started camping at 4pm Saturday night and caught him at about 3:30 in the afternoon. Took 23.5 hours of camping but after folding clothes and checking again, there he was, laying smack dap in the middle of the shadow. Killing mobs around him does not make him spawn faster, neither does not killing them. I tamed him on the first shot, I am a L23 NE. I let my “borrowed” bear go, walked off the SE hill I was sitting on, set a ice trap, walked in a little more, landed a concussion shot, ran back behind the trap and started taming. I was 40% done when the trap finished and he knocked me down about 40% health before he was tamed. Stated feeding and fighting right after that to make him happy and win him over. He is a great looking cat and will fit in nicely with my Ghost Saber.

I went there and there he was. I died a few times as I was trying to tame him, but got him in the end. I was physically shaking by the end but it was worth it.
Anyway that was a while ago, we're level 45/46 now. I guess I was lucky after reading everyone else's stories of long camping! Good luck!

Humar makes a great PvP pet from my experience as a Night Elf Hunter. First off, he is black and somewhat harder to see. Using Prowl, doubly so. And secondly, he has a tactical advantage, just like any good cat...
Teach him Prowl and Dash
Camp him at the flag in AB or WSG
Distance yourself at hunting range...
...Shadowmeld and Prowl...
....and wait to unleash invisible death on foes!
It's worked quite effectively as a defensive maneuver. You'd be surprised how well it works when a flag is seemingly undefended and some rogue decides he can sneak in and steal it. :P
And not to be off topic, but I have played with Humar ever since I tamed him ages ago, and have yet to name him...
So my question is: what did everyone name him?
Or, what would be a good name for a black lion...?

He is easy to tame if you have Really Sticky Glue and Freezing trap. When i tamed him at higher lvl it was no prob without any tricks, just tamed him.
And yeah the coords confirmed, hes under that tree where many Savannah Cubs and Patriarchs and Matriarchs are. He's easy to see on Barren's ground texture, so be sure that if he is there, you'll see him

I just tamed him on Undermine at 0400 server time. I am a lvl 23 hunter. i waited over 10 hours total for him.
I popped one of every rank II scroll, a +70 hp potion and had very good gear totaling 1559 HP.
I had been killing the lions all day around the tree. (my buddy went from barely able to skin them to having over 200 light leather and about 50+ med when he was there)
Anyway, at one point all the lions just stopped spawning. i was like WTF? I looked and yea that elite Switfmane was there. I walked away a sec then noticed after 2-3 hours the lions were starting to spawn again. buyt no hum.
Got wife aggro and went to make the bed and when i came back i almost lost my dinner...HE'S HERE!
Popped a buncha buffs laid a frost trap...waited popped another frost trap, CS, shot him outa the first dam trap b4 I hit TB. (I thought crap i lost it) Took me down about 1/2 health (see above) and boom he was mine!
Sooo Sooo worth the wait! I named him "Nightmare" because thats what it was like to wait for him! =p
Oh and thanks to that lvl 70 NE hunter who left me alone and didn't kill him just to be mean. IOU 1.

Though all pets were nerfed, including this one, I simply had to have him just out of sheer novelty. I tamed it with my level 40 hunter (I wanted him when I was lower level but never had the motivation to camp) so it took this long until I finally plucked up the courage and did it. I was expecting the grueling 10 hour wait, but it only took an hour and a half before he popped. Prior to that, when I nearly slipped away from just saying screw it, I thought: "All right, I'll just begin to log out and he'll probably pop. That'd be hilarious."
And that's exactly what happened. Hit the 18 second tick and he spawned right next to me. =3 Coordinates are right, and be sure to have some meat or fish with you. He'll be unhappy and the last thing you wanna do is have him abandon you after so much time and effort. Yuck.

I just read up on him yesterday and decided to stake him out. I'd tamed a mulgore wolf eons ago and wolves being my favorite animal decided to go with just them. But I saw him and had to try. I staked it out for about 20-30 minutes and then got bored. I fiddled with my druid for some time in TB and decided to log out. I remembered Humar and decided to try one more time. I'd logged out right at his spawning place and sure enough I loaded and he was there. I am lvl 32 so taming him was easy as much of his pride had not yet re-appeared and none aggro'd. I really love the look of him; especially those green eyes. I have a feeling he's one I'll keep for quite some time.

Oh, you guys are gonna hate me. I got REALLY lucky. I went to 62.1,33.3 which is the exact location of Humar's spawn. Decided to wait in the tree for him. I got there at about 12:20. At 12:35 he spawned!!!! No joke. I waited a total of maybe fifteen minutes, maybe not even that long.
Unfortunately, I personally think Echeyakee is the lovelier lion and from another comment on here have figured out the way to tame him on Alliance side. (The initial summoning quest is strictly horde.) And since Humar has no special abilities, I think im going to stable him for now and seek out Echeyakee.
Happy hunting to you all!

Disregard all the junk below about hiding in a tree and strategically placing frost traps, there is no need for that much planning. I simply took out a couple of mobs to clear the area, placed a frost trap, then hit Humar with a concussive shot. No other aggro and finsished w/ approx 75% HP. I did all this at lvl 23.

A note to Horde players looking to snag Humar:
In Brill there is a quest chain 'A New Plague' (
https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=368
), the second part of which rewards you with Slumber Sand (
https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=3434
). With the "up to 20 seconds" sleep effect, it's possible to tame Humar before he gets a hit on you. (Or hits a Freezing Trap you've laid down just in case.)

So eariler today, I flew to Rachet and thought I'd go check. So I stabled my current kitty (Ghost Saber) and AotC my ass over there. Sure enough, my beast tracker picked him up.

. they are only lvl 16-17
tame
Kurzen Wartiger
in
STV
to learn
Dash 1
they are around lvl 30-31
Prowl
isnt really needed, your pet runs really slow when its on, but fun for pvp.
Mountain Lion
is one of the first cats you can tame to learn this skill. they are lvl 32-33
**just tame one, kill a few, and you should be able to learn these skills pretty easy, you dont need to make the pet happy to learn the skills, just gotta be in melee range.

Humar was very easy to tame. I camped the spot in the tree and logged on every hour or so to see if he had spawned and when he did I cleared a couple of the mobs at the bottom, layed a freezing trap, started to tame, he ran up the tree hit the freezing trap and was tamed. I didn't even get hit once.
It's just a hassle waiting for him. Good luck!

Lucky break for me on this beauty. Flew over him on my shammie, logged as fast as I could and hopped on my hunter. Fortunately I was in the area (camp t) and he was still there by the time arrived.
My hunter is lvl 27, I pretty much just dogged other mobs, used auto shot to pull him, and aspect of the monkey. Cut it a little close health wise, but I got him. =3 Now I have matching white and black lions. I pretty much had to rely on luck to tame this guy, with work and raiding theres no way I could have camped his spawn point for 12 hours. @.@

First of all, Humar's spawning point is confirmed, you can find him under the shadow of the tree on top of Ratchet (62.1, 33,3),
he never spawns anywhere else
!
I don't know about his spawn time since I never had to wait, but almost everyone is agreed on 8-12 hours.
When I saw the screenshot of the beast, as every cat lover Hunter I wanted to tame it, and went to given coords to see if I can find him. Place was camped by both Horde and Alliance players, I just waited like 10 min or so, then I got bored and left. Thought I could never have it since I am a Casual player, Until I try my own tactic to find him.
I'm a Horde player and my character was about 23-24 when I decided to tame Humar, and I would never camp there for like 12 hours like a deranged person, so I started Ashenvale Quests to level my character.
Anyway here's what I did;
Between Ratchet and Splintertree Post is like 2:30 - 3 min, All I had to do after each quest I've finish and return to Splintertree Post, I put my pet to stable to save time in case I'll find him then I took a trip to Ratchet and climb the little hill just nearby Flight Master, and use "Eagle Eye" to give a quick peep to on top of the hill just near he's spawn point to see if he's there.
It was when I hit 29 and about my 7-8th check, There he was, sleeping under the tree.
And it was easy to tame for my level, but those who wants to try in lower levels, use the tactics given above I say, put Freezing Trap and such cause he hits quite hard and fast.
Here's how I have it, without camping for hours and waiting, I leveled and tamed the most unique cat in game,
Try this if you don't want to wait to tame him, I'm positive it will work just as easy for you as it was to me.
Have fun.

I tamed Humar as he's the only pet in the game who's got the black lion skin. I went for him 'cause i wanted to have a different looking pet with a unique feeling. Sadly enough this only left me a few hours. Some hunters were like "omg !!11!11 where did you get it??///" , but after a while i started to realize that every single damn hunter on my server appear to have one. Maybe because hes is so "unique looking" every one wants one ... and that makes him one of the most common hunter cat pet =/
Even
Echeyakee
(who being part of a quest on horde side, I'd expect to be really common since, although not unique, has got a rare skin) is a less common pet. Humar is indeed nice looking, but Eche it's just as good, imo (with the downside that you have to wait maybe 8-12 h for humar if you're unlucky, while for Eche you just go to XRs and tip some lowbie 1g so he lets you tame him when he spawn).
If you're going for this pet for the uniqueness (like I did),
don't
. I camped his spawn for quite some time and wasn't
really
worth it (ok, I got some nice looking pet)
If you're going for uniqueness and want a not-so-ordinary looking pet
Frostsaber Pride Watcher
,
Rak'shiri
,
Frostsaber Huntress
,
King B
(although heavily tamed in the past because he was one of the few, if not the only, pet with
Cobra Reflexes
, in my experience he's still kinda rare),
Ghost Saber
(as a bonus they are ghostly) or
Snow Leopard
are a better bet.
Too bad I had to find this the hard way =/

Just got him as a lv 24. Waited about an hour and a half in the tree then positioned myself between Ratchet and the tree. Placed a freezing trap and then shot with a concussive then begin to tame hit a couple of times but i got him.
If tame fails the first time run towards Ratchet.

Ok I saw a hunter with this pet today, he had his own name "Humar the pridelord" and silver rare-monster border around portrait... without hesitating much i went on my hunter and caught it, to my disappointment it lost it's rare border and got it's name reseted.. any idea how? I just don't get it.
I have published a screenie, should be available to view soon.
Edit: this is what I saw, and ye, thanks for -1 -.-

How to auto-tame Humar while AFK:
(Disclaimer, this method requires the use of an autoclicker, which is technically against the ToS. but as we're just taming a pet here, and not AFK leeching in BGs or Botting, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. You can make your decisions about whether it's right/ worth getting suspended.)
1. Download an autoclicker.
2. Make the following macro:
/cast Dismiss Pet
/targetexact Humar the Pridelord
/castsequence reset=target/ Freezing Trap(Rank 1), Concussive Shot, Tame Beast
/8 2
3. Set autoclicker to click every 2 seconds, go stand up in the tree above where Humar spawns (being sure that He'll be within range when he spawns)
4. Take a nap, go to work, whatever. Hopefully when you return you'll have Humar tamed.
The way the macro works is to, if you have a pet (I.E. if you successfully tamed him) you'll instantly dismiss him so that he doesn't simply run away after you tame him, but before you return to your computer.
If Humar spawns you'll target him, but you will NOT target anything else by any other name.
The castsequence resets on a change of target, which is to say it will only reset if Humar spawns and due to the /targetexact line, you target him. If you do target him, it will reset to the begining, cast Ice Trap, then on the next auto click you'll cast Concusive Shot, (which is why it's important to be sure you'll be in range of him when he spawns) then you'll cast tame beast.
/8 2 is just a message to be spammed to a custom channel to keep you from going AFK and getting booted from the server. Replace 8 with any custom channel.

Well, its just like any other cat with the same skin, just black, so i see no difference in them...though it is kinda unrealistic to make all cats the same though, since in the world, there are strong cats, fast, but weak cats and so on.

I myself wanted to choose to stay with Echeyakee, but when i was just looking around farming light leather, i saw Humar, so i just went to the stable master in Ratchet and i got Humar.
TiP
When i was taming him, i got dazd and hit with his move, Agonizing Pain,
THAT DOES NOT MESS UP THE TAMING!!
Thank you,

Something I noticed that no one commented on, probably because everyone's focusing on taming him.
When Humar is at 10% health, he will call for aid. This call has an extremely wide range, and tends to aggro *ALL* the lions around the tree he is at. Therefore, if you are someone who is looking to kill him (and thus anger every hunter in the Warcraft world), make sure you clear, or kite him *well* away from the other lions before you begin attacking.

I camped him for about 2 days, a polite lvl70 gave me the chance to tame him first, but another hunter was there as well, so I only get the opportunity for the second time around.
Spawn point is exactly right, we were about 8 and a half hours after server start when he spawned, then I logged in in the morning, about 15 hours after that, and there he was.
It's pretty easy to tame him, just run up the tree, and Concussive Shot+Tame. I didn't even have to use a trap, since he didn't even made it up to the tree before the taming was over, but as soon as I engaged, several matriarchs and patriarchs started aggroing, so if you're there for a long time, it might be a good idea to clear the area. (Plus, you get some
Small Furry Paw
s, which you can sold on AH or use it in the Darkmoon Fairy quest)
I have to say, one of the coolest pets ever. I see Ghost Sabers with almost every second hunter, and being on a PvE server taming Echeyakee wasn't that big an accomplishment, so I went with Humar, and I'm loving it!

Hello, I have just Tamed Humar The Pridelord. I am prefering my tactics:
1. Start agrro to Humar, and let him to enter freezing trap.
2. Enable aspect of Monkey, because he's doing good damage (185+)
Another tactic is concussive shot, freezing trap and start taming. It's about 20 sec, so we have to be carefully, u do not need 70lvl to tame it, u have to watch on dmg (avg). Second tactic is more important, because I am using councussive shot, with stun chance (ofc), and those are 4 seconds+
Humar The Pridelord is rare elite, so he's spawning rarely, and he looks great (noobs are doing mistakes and think that it's Night Elf in Cat Form. :))

He might be bugged on my server. I went to tame him at lvl 64 and he hit me constantly for 1800 dmg...of course i died :D
I tried again, same result, except that i managed to hit feign death before he could finish me. At the third time i placed a freezing trap between us and then i could finally tame him. So i suggest doing this with all the beasts u cannot tame normally :)

A suggestion to noobs like myself. I went to camp for Humar on the tree (as suggested earlier in this thread), and everything worked according to plan. When the taming bar completed, I got the error saying I didn't have enough stable slots.
Be sure you have enough stable slots before you start. :)
Their is a stable master in Ratchet, so I quickly went down, purchased both slots, put my existing pet in a slot, and ran back up. As I was running back, I watch another Hunter kill Humar. That was VERY painful to watch and now here I am again on this tree. But it'll be worth it, Humar is much better looking than my mangy nightsaber.

Just Tamed Humar W/ Lvl 23 hunter, 736 health.
Real easy, simply wait up in the tree mentioned on other comments, and wait until he spawns.
Once he does, drop down but away from him, and reposition yourself infront of him but out of range. give him a cuncussive shot andlay down freeze trap start taming. He was real simple, and not that hard of a hitter. You will take some damage but as long as no other mobs near you, not fatal. as mentioned before, use Aspect of the Monkey, and just an idea (i didn't use) but if he is a real task for you to tame ans he does hit you, try hitting him with a SCORPID STING. No potions necessary.

Just tamed Humar. Was 22 when i showed up in Ratchet so i went further south and grinded mobs till i was 23. Went to the tree, cleared some mobs around it....and poof! he showed up...maybe 5 minutes wait. I used a slightly different approach to tame him. he showed up on my radar so i ran up a bit higher in the tree to see where he was in relation to my position. Facing towards the top of the tree i began to tame him...he never even came up the tree. He ran back and forth behind it. Guess he couldnt find his way up :P. Anyway, this approach, albeit by luck, certainly worked as i was not hit at all. Good luck, and enjoy his beauty!

Got him last night (Lvl 23 BE Hunter). He spawned exactly at midnight (2:00am server time). I'm on Wildhammer. Definitely one of the nicest looking pets. I also love the fact that there isn't very many people who have it (only seen one on my server besides mine). Very easy to tame. Don't even need to use the tree. Just clear all the other cat mobs (before he spawns) and then place a freeze trap between you and Humar.

I had never really been interested in taming Humar, but after seeing him in the wild, I changed my mind. Aside from his unique skin, Humar has a very commanding presence and he inspired my little cow hunter to action. I was very fortunate and didn't have to camp for him; I just checked a handful of times to see if he was up.
What I wasn't expecting, despite having seen many other hunters with Humar before, was his noisy yawning, like
Rak'shiri
and
Shy-Rotam
. I personally haven't had any other cats that did this, so I don't mind it, but I thought I'd let other hunters know ahead of time in case that's a dealbreaker for them.
Edit: I did a bit more research and the roaring yawns were added to ALL lions (including Humar) in patch 2.3.

So I went up to the tree earlier last night to see if Humar was around...he wasn't, but three other hunters were (Nazgrel). Obviously, I said eff that and moved on. Came back an hour later to only one of the original three hunters. This time, I decided to climb the tree and simply log out while I ran a few Heroics. After logging in about five or six times over the course of three or four hours, I said forget about it and went and passed out. Got up at like 3:45 this afternoon thinking that there is NO WAY he is there since I've been in a sleep coma for about 8 hours...I logged in, and look who was sitting right in the middle of my screen. Still groggy from sleep and too excited to wait, I popped a freezing trap behind me on the tree and started taming immediately. Not only did half of the lions at the tree aggro as he went by, but I also had left on Aspect of the Cheetah (so it was daze central). To make a long story short, he was already 2/3'ish tamed by the time he hit the freezing trap and completely tamed before he could even lay a hit on me. The pride that aggro'd didn't even take me below 80% life (I am currently level 25) and none of their attacks interrupted.
Obviously, the worst part of this tame is the wait...but it's def. worth it. Spent all of a day and already have three rare pets that I wanted (Takk, Death Flayer, and Humar). Better yet, these guys spawn within a 4-5 min. circuit of one another so it was def. an efficient day. I'll try to log back in later this evening to see if I can pinpoint a spawn time (since most people have pointed to 8-12 hours).

I just tamed this Humar this morning with my 23 Night Elf Hunter, all I used was a Concussive Shot and Freezing Trap at max range just as folk were saying, he only managed to get afew hits in so there was little trouble. I'm fortunate enough to play on a low/med pop server, so I didn't seem to have any competition (apart from some Blood Elf Mage who was trying to camp spawn to stop me from getting this beast). After camping for around 2 hours I just logged fairly late in the evening and checked in the morning, he was there. Love the skin and the roaring animation, I think this is a must for all low level hunters (and then there is Pitch for the higher level hunters). This is definately my favorite cat skin.
Thanks everyone for the tips, it really did make the difference!

On the server Nathrezim (with my character Sekmet), 3:51pm server time (5:51pm here in Charleston, WV) I JUST CAUGHT HUMAR! This morning from 3am-8am I camped him...no luck. Signed off, slept 4 hours, got back on from 12pm-5...nothing. Signed off, went and ate dinner. When I signed off, there were two level ? Horde at the spot, probably also waiting for him. When I signed back on at 5:50pm, there staring at me was Humar, the big black cat himself. I hurried and put down an ice trap and started taming. After a few pieces of meat for happiness and several /cheers, I had finally tamed him! He's been renamed Neko, and I'm so happy with him.
Just like with my Ghostsaber (who took 19 cat figurines to get) it was well worth the wait. Good luck for everyone else who is camping him too!

Even though Humar now has a twin in Pitch, Pitch is 76, so taming Humar at 23 is still pretty cool.
As for how to tame him, I just did it and it was total cake. I didn't climb a tree or anything like that. I just tamed a raptor near by and cleared out the other lions. Got myself just outside taming range and sent the raptor to his death. Humar beat him like a red-headed stepchild and just before he bit the big one, I laid my freeze trap, abandoned the raptor and started taming. Humar bee-lined it for me, hit the trap and patiently waited in a block of ice. By the time he got loose, I had about 6 seconds left and he was all mine.
He makes a nice addition to the others in my stable,

I just tamed this nice beast.
I was just going around, killing some mobs, and dinged. Then suddenly my pet gets attacked by something, then I see its a black tiger, and its a Rare-Elite.. Then i saw that it was Humar the Pridelord, then I runned away, abadonned my old pet, and got this :)
Really happy because I got this pet now :P

I can Confirm that his spawn timer is 12 hours, not sure about 8-12.
I logged on one afternoon at 12:45pm to find his dead carcass under the tree. Checking back every hour after 8 o'clock mark I was able to catch him up no earlier, no later than 12:41am (must have been the time he was killed, note I found the body not the ToD)
Good Luck to any other hunters looking to catch this awesome cat!

The spawn timer for Humar may differ from server to server, and it likely varies between spawns.
I had a hunter on the Blackwater Raider realm and was able to tame Humar twice in under six hours. The first time, he spawned while I waited. The second time, I showed up a little under six hours later and he was already sitting under the tree.
This was likely an unusual occurance since there is much difference in the opinion of his spawn timer. But, the reality is, this DID happen.
Following the launch of WotLK, Humar is more easily found. Whether or not his spawn timer has been changed is unknown, but certainly fewer people are opting to tame Humar. He's usually under the tree every time I stop by to visit him so he can play with my lvl 80 kitty. (I don't kill him.)

I have a tutorial on taming Humar, the same one I used.
1.Fly to Ratchet
2.From the dock at Rachet there is a road leading out to your left. Run that way. There will be a large tree on your right(still technically in Rachet)
3.Turn right at the tree and there will be a trail that leads you up and over the hill. Be careful- there will be 2 scytheclaws very close.
4.When you get to the top of of the hill look to your right. There is a tree near the far edge of the plateau you are now standing on. That is his tree.(the bent one)
5. Kill the raptors and stray hyenas. There will be 3 sets of matriarchs/cubs. Kill them too- very carefully as one set gets pretty close to him.
6.Wait till he lays down- freeze trap, scorpid/serpent sting (if you dont have scorpid yet) conc shot. POOF frozen kitty. Then Tame!
Good Luck to all, and happy hunting! :)

I went into the tree right by where the lion spawns right when the server was back up. I waited into that tree for 6hours and then there he was just sleeping in the shade under the tree. I quickly went to the middle of the tree and put down a freezing trap. I started the taming and all the lions by him came after me while humar got freezed. I never got touched by humar but i almost got demolished by all the other lions attacking me at the same time. That lion will definately be my pet for awhile, along with his awesome colored black skin and his power.
And Thx for all the advice above! :)
I hope u get this beauty also!

I tamed him awhile back on my server with my hunter, was looking through the rare pets we could get and I had to get him. Was pretty easy, soon as i hit 23 i went to his spot he wasnt there, camped him the rest of the day with no luck, then left and went to do some farming on my paly, came back on my hunter later that night and camped him while I slept, what do I wake up to, my macro going crazy, so i get up set my freezing trap down and concussive shot him, i nearly messed it up as he got to pound on me for a bit, but i did get him just barely had any hp left. So I got him and couldnt be happier, I seen several hunter's come and go as i camped him. Humar will probably always be my main pet as I have a big dark grey cat who resembles him the most out of the other cats ingame. May not be as unique as it used to be, but on my server, very few have him that i have noticed, the people that do have the skin of him were lazy and went to scholozar basin and get pitch. I'd rather have camped Humar and him be my (Elite) pet, thats how you can tell if it Humar, does it have (Elite) on his name bar when you browse over him.

I was a little freaked out and hesitant to camp this cat with the 8-12 hour respawn rate. I did though. Right on top of the tree in shadowmeld (Nightelf Huntard). Around an hour and a half rolled by and I jumped out of the tree, got as close as I could without pulling him, dropped a trap and started taming. 20 sec later its all mine. Named him Razorclaw after a Transformer, one of the Predacons which was indeed a Lion.

I've gotten
two
Humars on Gul'Dan, once I sat up in a tree for hours, logging on and off until, running through on an alt, I spotted him. That was at lvl 24. Then at lvl 26 while skinning the hell out of the area, I spotted him again. So I ran to Ratchet, bought another stable slot, and got another Humar.
The moral is, if you want it just hover in the area once in awhile. It'll come.

They should have Pitch removed from the game or have his skin changed. On my server, sure there were a few die hard hunters who had thE Humar, but not alot of em. Now every lazy hunter and his mother has the damn skin of Pitch, which you can tell cause, it doesn't have (Elite) on the name bar.

Spot has been confirmed, although I'm sure everyone knows that. (:
Sat there for about an hour just killing the lions to keep my radar clear. So, once something spawned I could see if it was him or not.
Some Lv.15 druid and Lv.58 DK on the alliance side come strolling by and start skinning some stuff. So, I decided to be nice and loot my stuff for him to skin.
What happens? Humar spawns and as I'm taming it, the DK kills it. How much of bad timing is that? So, my advice blizzard? Once something is being tamed, it should be claimed and unattackable. ):

I've had pretty good luck with Humar. I've seen him 4 times. the first time i pst my friend with his 55 hunter and he came and tamed him. the second time i put a call out in general, waited 5 minutes and since no one responded i killed him. the third time was yesterday while i was lvling my new hunter. i was only lvl 19 so i put a call out in general again and i got a pst. i wait while the guy switches over to his 80 hunter. he runs up, tames him then gives me 10 gold. today when i dinged lvl 23 ( humar's lvl ) i went straight to the spot...but he wasn't there. run up on a hill over looking his spawn area and logged out. logged back in 6 hours later and there he was...so i tamed him, making him my second elite. the other is Takk the Leaper. Humar doesnt hit too hard. i had about 900 health at the time and when i was done taming him i was only at half health. i would suggest though clearing out the wandering lions and plainstriders.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but Draenei hunters looking to tame him, take full advantage of your Gift of Naaru, use it right as he starts attacking you, and then start taming, at least thats what I did when taming him, and use the same idea when taming a lvl 19 Ghost Saber at lvl 20.

I have a lvl 24 dwarf hunter and was looking for a good elite pet to call my own. Humar stood out over all the others for me and the moment i saw his pic on the sight i knew i had to have him. I sat at the top of the tree where he spawns for bout 30 min then began working on my leather working and skinning skills, killing anything that was skinable. i did this for about oh 6 or 7 hours non stop then sat in the tree for 10 min till Humar came out to play. Yes i am crazy to have sat there for 7 hours i know but that was the hard part. The easy part was taming him. Used the ice trap and got him from the top o da tree. Well worth the wait. The moment i hearthed into town people were asking me where id got him. Named him Humar because well that's his name. Thanks to this sight and all those on it for the tips.

A good way to see if he is Humar (If some hunter has him tamed that is) you just hover your mouse over the pet and it should say <Name> level .. (Elite) if it says (Elite), its humar.. If it dosen't, its Pitch.

Kill the cats then climb the tree put a ice trap on the place you climbed he will pass by there when coming now if you have Really Sticky Glue this is easy you get it from quest in Sen'Jin village now use the glue consecutive shot then start taming with glue CS and trap he won't touch you without glue 3 or 2 hits don't worry he doesn't take much life from you enjoy him he is really good pet took me 1 week to spawn spawn time is 8-16 hours confirmed

I finally got this handsome boy about fifteen minutes ago (I only had to wait 12 hours), and I must say, its worth the wait.
A little tip for alliance players... You aren't going to be the only one aware of Humar. There ARE going to be other alliance and horde players who will check in/camp in that same area. Pay off the alliance to leave you be, or simply be patient and let them capture him first. Another day or two of waiting isn't going to hurt. He spawns in the exact same spot every time.
When there's horde around, its best to camp your toon there, preferably alive (it makes life more difficult for when he does show his face - resurrecting, clearing mobs, laying traps...). Camp there, log out, and log in every so often to check if he's there. I suggest logging in at a rather odd time for other players, ie. just before you go to work, late at night, when kids are at school.
All the luck of capturing this beauty. Despite the pet nerfs, this guy is definitely a keeper.

I didn't need to do all that fancy hanging off the tree stuff. Just ran up into the tree and waited. Logged on and off and spotted him five minutes before leaving for work. Just dropped a freeze trap and started taming. Only got hit once. Found him at 62.1 33.3. I was lv 25 but 23's should have no problem still. He can't do THAT much damage in just one hit. Very nice catch. Only had two other hunters try to come and camp while i was there. So not too many people hunting him.

The easiest way to tame this beauty as Alliance player is by this way:
1.) Go tu the Westfall and kill at least 3
Dust Devil
s to gain
Magic Dust
2.) The hardest part - travel throught Duskwood and Stranglethorn Vale to Booty bay and by boat to Ratchet
3.) Find Humar the Pridelord above Ratchet next to some tree
4.) You wont use traps or anything else. Simply kill mobs around throw
Magic Dust
on Humar and start taming.
I tried this by myself few times and everytime this strategy works.
Enjoy!

Alot of people like this kind of animal for its rarity, He in some way to hunters has a bonus to stat contribution from the player.
From what i last know of..he has a 1-3 daily spawn time, Possibly shortened. I Confirmed that Humar has more stats with comparing the Pet Talents,Player Talents,Items/Armor/Weapons, Pet Happiness.
Humar is the Best pet to level with beyond level 23. He has nice damage and aggro and if you have
Bloodthirsty
Ensure yourself he will never die.
This means if you keep a pet for a longer period of your leveling time their loyalty level grows (Notifications to Loyal Leveling Removed and some how pets get a green glow after being fed and
Glyph of Mend Pet
)
The longer you keep a pet through your leveling experience the better the pet is at level 80
Trying to Confirm that Humar is a better pet than Pitch is at level 80
Note: I wish that Blizzard added Pet Loyalty back to WoW because it showed alot of personality your pet would have through out the game

I tamed Humar a few hours ago. I camped from 12pm and got him at around 4:30pm the same day. I was expecting it to take much longer.
I had nowhere to go all day so I pretty much stayed there, checking regularly. And then the one time I go off to do other stuff, my dad and brother start yelling that he'd respawned. >.<
I managed to tame him without much effort at all. ^^
Here's my method:
1.
Make sure you have meat and/or fish on hand to feed him once he's been tamed. Find your way to Ratchet and then to his tree (make sure you have the right one - I went to the wrong one at first and didn't realise for half an hour. o.e).
2.
Clear the general area of all beasts - this will stop you getting bored and will make it much easier to see him respawn. By doing this, I gained half a bar of experience, going from level 24 to 25. Plus, they occasionally had decent drops, some worth about 2 gold each; not to mention the hundreds (literally) of leather I had by the end of it..
3.
Climb onto the tree and Shadowmeld.
4.
Everytime another creature appears in your radar and it isn't Humar, kill it. You can always just kill the aggressive ones; the defensive ones are obviously easier to recognise.
5.
Check regularly to see if he has respawned (this depends on how much time you're willing to dedicate - I checked every five minutes but that's because I have no life).
When Humar Respawns
6.
Turn on Aspect of the Monkey.
7.
Place a Freezing Trap about halfway up the tree, where Humar is likely to collide with it, and then climb up the tree, as far from the trap as possible.
8.
Target Humar and use Scorpid Sting (I strongly suggest you get this spell before going to tame him - it should be available at level 22) - If you don't have it, though, use Arcane Shot.
9.
Concussive Shot
10.
Start Taming
11.
Humar runs into the trap and bam, frozen for 10 seconds.
12.
After maybe hitting you a few times, he will be tamed and you'll have a new kitty. :)
I named him Scar, after my favourite Lion King character. =P
He's definitely a much better pet than my previous Snow Leopard.
Good luck taming this beauty! You'll need it.

I'm not quite sure what the big deal about this pet is...it is quite simple to obtain.
My wife wanted this pet on her NE hunter. We showed up, and Humar was nowhere at the spawn points. We just started killing the lions around the three spawn points. After killing all of the lions under all three locations we went back to the original spot and Humar was there.
I tested this again on my hunter immediately after and it worked again.
I firmly believe that he is listed as rare because he is not there immediately, but is easy enough to bring out by simply killing the surrounding lions.
Someone else can verify this if they want but this worked for both my wife and I within 20 minutes of each tame.
I dropped Humar though, as I prefer the white lion that I managed to get a horde character to summon for me.
Good Luck

Perhaps as a note, but, we don't need your confirmation everytime someone goes looking for this NPC. After the second, people are pretty confident that he's there, we don't need another two dozen posts starting with "location confirmed."
Possible that it's been modified since, but I don't see what the big fuss about his agonizing pain ability is. The +1 dmg isn't a huge bonus, and while it's true that he attacks at cat speed, that +1 dps isn't going to be what kills you. But this is an example of a true rare elite, he's not just a bigger pincushion, he's got the stat boosts to match his elite status. So caution is suggestible, and be prepared for failures.
You may wish to consider hitting him with a concussive shot and then using tame beast (after you've laid your freezing trap down, of course). Unless you have a bunch of hp to spare (overwhelming level), or you're a masochist you'll definitely want to make sure that he freezes. If you have lifeblood or some other HoT ability, forget about using it to try and offset this damage, and don't have your friend trying to heal you because it could break the tame via an aggro dump.
Night elves are luckiest for this fight, because if freeze fails they can just shadow meld and start over after CDs fade, but for everyone else might I suggest you pack a small compliment of
healing
(
not swiftness
) potions for just in case he manages to daze you while running away. Don't try to play it off as just running away from any other mob, because he'll make you eat your words.
If you're lucky enough to have friends who aren't busy or you level in a group, perhaps pack a small team in the form of a paladin, a shaman, and/or a priest along so that the priest can apply fort and shield, paladin can put up protection aura (applies after tame beast penalty so you're not completely naked) and give you kings, and shaman can put down a stone skin totem.
Could be considered a level of undue care, but it's always better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. And though there's many more graveyards in the world, a corpse run across the Barrens is still an unattractive prospect.

Not rare anymore? Actually you can point out pitch and humar. Humar is Elite, which gives him the (Elite) in his name bar, so sure the lazy people out there can get his skin with pitch. But Humar is still a Rare pet.

Found him on Firetree with my death knight at around noonish, asked barrens chat if there were any hunters around that wanted him, and sure enough, there was. Felt rather nice, doing something good, considering how many people seem to want Humar.
I, personally, never really cared for cats. As far as I'm concerned, he's just a black kitty skin.
I'll wait till I catch
Skoll
for stealth. :P Wonder how long that'll take.
Edit: Caught him a couple of days ago just for the heck of it. He's actually a pretty basic pet to solo with, or he would be, if he wasn't level 69. I don't feel like levelling him, but I might use him in an instance or two to try to get him levelled. Would also be nice to have a pet that I don't need to dismiss before I feign, but I haven't tested that out yet.
He roars when he yawns. That's sorta nifty, I guess.

I tamed him a while ago - Boy was I lucky, I was just strolling up to check if he spawned, guess what? HE WAS THERE! I quickly abandoned my White bear (Mangeclaw) for him, I was level 30 at the time - Just used a freezing trap and tamed, got hit once or twice, so damn worth it!

No longer seems to retain his elite status once tamed. Although Humar was listed as one of the few to do this, in 3.3 he seems to have lost it.
So you could look like you have the rare and beautiful Humar, or the 2min respawn timer Pitch from Sholozar. The epic has been sucked out completely.

why not just use a druid to hibernate him and tame while he is asleep? no need to get a shaman, priest + pally involved

gf just managed to finally tame this kitty. the 12 hour respawn is not entirely correct, because we witnessed him killed at 8:50am server time, and we camped his site 100% for just under 13 hours strait, finally spawning at 9:30pm server. killing surrounding mobs does NOT spawn him in any way, because we have kept them completely wiped for almost 13 hours. and for those who DO want a more powerful kitty, at level 65 he has two more ability points than other cats do. happy hunting!

Tamed this bad boy on my hunter alt right at level 23. Ran to his spawn location and there he was, waiting for me :D. If you're wearing heirloom gear you don't really need to worry about any taming strategies... just drop your freezing trap, take a step back, and tame beast. He'll get a few hits in after the trap wears off but you should still be well above 1/2 hp.

I'd just like to say that I am a new character to this game, and I cannot thank you guys enough for your input. HOWEVER, after getting extremely lucky and spotting him within the first 15 minutes of camping him I am about 3 seconds away from a successful tame and OUT OF NO WHERE comes an alliance player by the name of "Mccoy" and kills me, along with Humar. I guess some people in this world are naturally pricks. I do understand how there is an ally and a foe in every game, but even certain actions arn't warranted by people who are somewhat humane.

tamed this sexy pet after lvling to lvl 23, i landed in ratchet and thought "he probs wont be there, but ill check" and there he was, just sleeping there. I almost had a fit and asked for a priest to bubble me (i asked on barrens chat so no answers) and just went ahead and tamed him.
P.S. he hits fast but not to hard so tame from as far away as possible and hope for the best
good luck :D

I really with they wouldn't have made Pitch, in the Sholazar, the same as Humar. I picked up Humar at about level 28 after camping or 2 days in that blasted tree waiting for him to spawn. I like the fact that I was able to get Humar back at level instead of just going to sholazar where he's always at and just taming him. I still use him a lot now, still one of the cooler looking pets in the game.

At level 23, I put on Aspect of the Monkey and set a Freezing Trap at the edge of the tree where you have to climb up. I ran back to the little nook where I was within taming range and began. Humar had to run around the tree to climb up it, buying me a lot of time, then hit my trap.
When he got out of the trap, he landed maybe two hits on me before the taming was over. Done and done, thank you all for the advice, it was extremely helpful! I am now a proud owner of Humar.

Just tamed him at approximately 1:45am Arthas server time, after camping for about 5-6 hours. He was exactly where everyone said he'd spawn. After the first hour, a horde hunter who was 6 levels above me also started camping the area. I shadowmelded on a small ledge on the east side, that was slightly lower than main plateau - it made for a good spot to hide and wait, since it lowered the chance that the horde would spot me in my shadowmeld form and I could still see the area where Humar would spawn. After about an hour and half, the horde, thankfully, gave up.
So find a good spot to sit and wait, get a book to read or some homework to do, and be patient. He's worth it!

I just thought I'd update this page to let everyone know he was tamed twice in one day.
He was tamed at 5:55am server time on 3/5/2010 by an 35 Hunter on Alliance. He had been there for a day and a half but kept getting killed by Horde so my guild came over and kept watch for a bit til he got it. I'm Horde. We even killed him half a dozen times but he just kept coming back and /begging us to have mercy. I logged on my Alliance toon and had a chat with him. I know its not politically correct but we felt sorry for him. The end result is, he's probably coming to the Horse side. hehehe
Almost exactly 10 hours later, while I was at work, my fiancee tamed him for my 26 Hunter.
Same thing as just about everyone else...spawns same spot, etc.

Well, after drooling over this little guy for some time, I came back when I was level 25. I got bored from waiting, and went all - Eyes of the Beast - for some time. So finally he respawned (he may have respawned with a bunch of other lions, but I could be wrong. Wasn't paying much attention).
Anyway, I went right after him to realize I had drained my mana. So anyway, I got him; two more hits and I was dead, but I got him. xD Hoorah!

Hello,
Just another helpfull hint for all you hunters trying to tame Humar The PrimeLord, when Humar respawns anywhere between 8-10 hours the color of your screen changes. When I tamed him today the only reason i knew he was there was my screen became a darker shade. When My screen became darker I just looked around and there he was.
Oh and by the way the Freeze trap really does help alot. I put one down and was able to tame Humar without him even being able to hit me.
Good Luck hunting!

I've camped all night for this cat for 12 hours. from 6am-6pm. but i still can't see him. then later on i logged on with my my DK, cuz my brother wanted me to help him level up in barrens so i said. sure, i dont have anything to do anyway, then later we did the quest where you need to find a blood shard. but i ditched him xD . after ditching him, i saw an ally heading to ratchet . a pally, so chased him without noticing me, after finally catching him. i used death grip and killed him in the sea neat ratchet, then i returned to my cousin in crossroads, after climbing on the mountian, i was super shocked when i saw humar sleeping ! ! and exactly i logged out with my hunter near that tree ! so i killed mobs frst then i logged on with him, i used concussive shot and freezing trap. after taming him i told to my brother that how about we level up together with my new rocking pet ! my pet was our tank. and we were the dps xD my bro was a warrior xD

Was casting about for this really awesome pet -- I've had the same basic wolf forever (lvl70 Orc Hunter) -- and decided to go for this bad boy after reading all the comments. Well, I got him first try! But you want to know the best thing? I didn't even have to camp!
Couldn't sleep. Figured, "What the hell! It's
5am
on Sunday morning, I'm an insomniac -- maybe I'll get lucky!" Talk about luck, I walked right up on him and tamed him in no time. I was all prepped to take him out and level him, only to look at his level and he's already level 65. Now to see him in action...
One more thing -- I think early in the morning makes a difference. I had a RLF give me the same advice for rare pets.
Thanks so much for all the great tips, folks! ;)

Just tamed him on my 26 hunter, had to camp the spawn point for a good few hours though, but nothing impossible. I love the look of this guy, he's a beast, absoloutely had to have him, so I timed his respawn from the server maintenence on wednesday, as the area is fairly remote and is not camped as much anymore since the release of Pitch (same display, from Northrend lvl76.) He was not a problem to tame either apart from hitting fairly hard, just ice trap him, very simple. :)

1. Sit at (62,34) in Barrens, against the cliff (Far enough away so that if Humar does spawn, he will not aggro you and your pet kills him FTL). Bring a pet you can abandon.
2. Put pet on defensive mode. This will protect you from wandering mobs killing you while you are AFK.
2.5 Make sure you have Chronos installed. If you have CT_RaidAssist, you have Chronos.
3. Make macro: /script f = function() TargetByName("Humar"); if UnitName("target") ~= "Humar the Pridelord" then Chronos.scheduleByName("Humar", 60, f); DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("Humar not found"); else message("HUMAR POPPED WAKE UP"); end; end; f();
4. Press macro. It will attempt to target Humar once a minute. If Humar is targeted, it will pop up a window on your screen to get your attention. If not, it will add a message to your chat window saying "Humar not found."
5. Check in every X minutes.
6. PROFIT

I spent 4 hours total, over 2 days, camping Humar the Pridelord. If you are wondering where exactly he spawns, or if you have to kill the existing Lions to spawn him, read on.
Use Beast Tracking and look at your MiniMap. You should see the lions forming a horseshoe shape around the tree. The open end of the horseshoe has just the right room for one more dot on your MiniMap doesn't it?
That's exactly where Humar spawns. Nothing else will spawn there. Killing other Lions won't help but might ease the boredom for a little while. Humar will appear in the big shadow of the tree, near the base of the shadow where the trunk and the branches meet.
Like most people Humar did not appear while I was waiting. He was there after I logged back in after work. No more than 20 minutes would go by before a rival player would try to camp him with me. So be prepared to deal with competition.
Good luck :)
Artillerous - Orc Hunter of Kirin Tor
p.s. He eats exactly the same amount of meat as any other pet as long as you're feeding him food appropriate for his level.
I cannot confirm, nor deny any 'set' spawn times. But 6-8am and 12 midnight are unlikely as exact. I found him at 6:10pm MST. I can confirm that he will spawn directly after a server reset. (aka patch day)

I tamed him again today, 8-19-06 on The Venture Co. server, a relatively new realm, making this an extremely sought after and difficult catch.
Yes, I did say 'again' - this is the second time; I have had Lord Humar on another character as well.
A few things: I would not advise wasting time camping this guy. Twice now I have used the method of logging out a couple of alts at the site and checking in from time to time. Humar is routinely camped, but in my experience, rarely with high success. People seem to come, sit around the tree for 2 or 4 or 6 hours, see nothing, and get frustrated. Just set your hunter's hearth at Ratchet and continue with your life - Humar being 5 or 10 levels behind you when you finally make the catch is not as significant as it sounds.
Secondly, as a member of the Alliance, the above holds doubly true. The Horde guards this spawn point viciously at all times - no sense in brow beating yourself over it.
Thirdly,
and most importantly,
Humar is the only pet I have ever encountered that seemed to routinely bug during the tame. It happened twice before I got him - the tame would go off normally - ice trap, conc shot, intiate tame, etc, and right at the end, no Humar. He'd just keep on attacking. If this happens,
run.
By the time he reaches you, provided you started taming from a good distance, he should already be near his maximum attack range. As long as you didn't poke him, he will deaggro relatively quickly. In a dicey situation with a much-sought-after monster like this, you do not want to spend any time corpse running. Play it safe, and expect a fail or two.
Fourth, it is my belief that he was tamed earlier this morning at around 4:00 a.m. or so server time, give or take. I located him at 3:00 p.m. Allowing an hour of difference between the initial tame and my own, and picking a median timer of +7 hours, I have to say that Humars respawn timer is
about 8 hours,
though Blizzard may have set it on a variable just to keep us guessing. An 8 or 9 or 10 hour timer would make sense, however, because it would explain why Humar is sometimes only seen twice a day, and on others, three times. Regardless, he will take you some time to catch unless you are extremely lucky, which I seem to be, if I don't say so myself.
Finally, he is the best pet in the game. I was literally shaking as I logged out my watcher, logged my hunter, hearthed, and cheetah'd up there. No other pet inspires that kind of sweaty-palms adrenaline rush, and that alone makes this guy the best. He holds aggro well, is intimidating as hell, can meld along with night elves (and prowl for hordies - which can still lend an element of
'Oh noes, I am teh n00bzor huntar wit meh pet not calld out!'
that can give you an edge. He's one of the fastest attack speed pets in the game, and will eat casters alive.
That, and he's a black male lion. I mean,
c'mon.

I got Humar a few months back, and currently have him leveled at 46. I camped for a few hours, but then decided to just log onto my hunter every half hour to check. He finally appeared around 4pm (Ner'zhul's server clock, which is Pacific Standard Time). I set down a freeze trap, shot a scorpid sting at him (which reduces his strength and agility), followed by a concussive shot (slows/dazes him), and proceeded to tame him. By the time he unfroze, he was only able to whip out a few swats at me, overall, avoiding interruptions. At level 25, I had no trouble at all with this method, and was able to tame him on the first try. He's a 23 elite (yellow dragon around his profile), so just be wary of that. Like I mentioned, he's now a hulking 46 with prowl and dash skills, making him one sweet, deadly weapon in the battlegrounds. :D Best of luck!

Ok, heres a couple tips that im gonna share with you guys so that you can get Humar safe and easy. I can't help the camping go by any faster (wish i could) but i can tell an easy way to tame him.
1)
There is a spot that you can run up the tree. Take it and run up as far as you can.
2)
Make a macro that targets Humar (/Target Humar) so that if there are any other Hunters camping you can target him fast.
3)
When he spawns spam the macro (might also help if your spam it everynow and then just in case) then set your freezing trap.
4)
With the trap down, make sure you have Aspect of the Monkey on, cast Concussive Shot and Tame Beast, it will take him awhile to run around the tree, and then up before he gets frozen.
This should prevent him from even touching you, and make it easy to run away (considering you can jump off and he has to run all the way around) incase the Taming Process fails. Happy Hunting and may you have the Best of Luck :)

people, all the pets have been normalized. a cat is a cat, a bear is a bear and an owl is an owl. there are differences in armor/dps/health between the species but other than that, the only real difference in pets these days is the skin. white lion or black lion? just a matter of skin preference since the update.

I thought I'd check out "this famous black cat", so I went running over to the tree. Now I didn't expect to see him, because face it, it seems everyone is trying to tame it or kill it to be mean to the hunters trying to get it. When I got there, I was let down to see Humar laying there dead. I went up to get a closer look, cuz I've never seen him before then. The bloody thing wasn't dead, I found out as I "bumped" into him, lol. I was like "OH Crap", as I stumbled to tame him. And I did tame him... barely. I should've died. But hey, I didn't have to wait around for hours.

I caught Humar a while back now when I was level 24. I found that the best way to camp him was to make an alt, appropriately called 'Humarchecker' or something :P, and move him to where Humar spawns. Then just play as normal on your main, while checking on your alt every now and again to see if he has spawned. Also, having your home as Ratchet helps, as it allows you to hearth to near Humar quickly.
One of the best feelings of the game is logging on your alt to see ol' Humar lying in the shade of the tree- nothing beats it :D
Good luck getting him.

ontop of the "CH" in RATCHET, is where he respawns, in the shade of a big tree... there are lions forming a horseshoe around him.
After camping this guy for 7 days, along with several other people... i can confirm his respawn is once every 8 hours. he doesnt have set times but since he is camped by so many people it appears that way... the most comon time are between 2-6am.
anyone that kills him is extremely rude and DONT KILL HIM!
my advice... the second time i taimed... i knew when he was coming again, killing the lions will help the wait but not the respawn... i turned on a movie and looked back to me screen every 10 minutes.... i was there for 2 hours and i got him. Also my advice is to climb up in the tree and wait there. oh and "PVP" servers have fun horde camp him more than alli...
He will eat about 5-6 pieces of meat if u feed him correctly... (feed pet is an over time skill)
frost trap, concussion shot, and tame beast... he will get about 2-3 hits on you after he unfreezes. he is a very good pet and i love him.
good luck and happy hunting to all of you!

bJust Tamed this cat on 12-3-07 on Burning Blade PVP Server.
With No Food, Fresh tamed, HUMAR'S ATTACK SPEED IS AT 2.0 Second.
http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/4741/humarmr5.png
which makes it NO difference than ANY other cats out there besides the look. (i am BM so the armor and stuff are higher than normal)
I also have the Echakyee fresh tamed and it also have 2.0 Second Attack Speed.
now a friend hunter his humar lvl40 with Cobra Reflex the attack speed is 1.54 Second. which is the exact same speed as my ghost saber lvl42 with cobra reflex.
Humar may attack faster in the past, but now they are all the same. So if you really love this black lion skin, then wait here to tame it. I personally only waited about 30min and got lucky. It was VERY Disappointing finding out that humar is not any better.
And I understand that some people spends Hours to get this, and they have no chocie but to love it cuz they put so much effort into it.. but please people stop telling lies that humar attacks faster.. because it is Not ture, at least not anymore.

I finally tamed Humar today with my BE hunter on the Lightninghoof server. I'd been levelling up around the Barrens and was about 6 bars from 23 when I found myself near Humar's tree while completing another quest. Was 3:30AM PST, but I figured what the hell, and cast Eyes of the Eagle and scanned over there. To my surprise, there was one gorgeous black lion just parked in the shade. I threw on Aspect of the Cheetah and raced back to the Ratchet flight path, then flew to Crossroads and Camp Taurajo to turn in my quests and stable my current pet, praying that I could ding 23 in time and get back to him before someone else did.
Turned in my last quest and was less than 200xp from level. Flew to Ratchet, raced up the hill, quickly tamed a nearby cat, then killed two raptors wandering nearby and DING! Level 23! Ran to Humar's tree and nearly cried to see he was not there, but then the mobs around rezzed and there he was! I parked myself right at the edge of the tree's shade, put down my frost trap, buffed up with whatever scrolls I could find in my bags, and then hit tame. A few seconds later I saw the big flash of light, Humar's name changed to "Cat" and I was one very happy Hunter. :D
One piece of advice - he hits HARD. So if doing this at lvl23 like I did, make sure you get some decent protection on you beforehand. I had plenty of blood shards on me from the quillboar quests, so I turned them in for AGI, STR, and protection buffs, then used another protection scroll, had a STA buff from a friendly priest, AND was wearing the full set of Fang armor from WC. Even with putting my frost trap down and being at max range, Humar managed to take me down to 1/2 health before he was tamed. Obviously higher levels won't have this problem but for us lowbies, every health point you can get counts.
So with Humar now. this rounds out my cats. I had tamed Echeyakee a few days earlier and renamed him Ghost, plus I still have my Elder Springpaw that was my first hunter pet. I've debated getting a pet other than a cat, but truth be told getting Echeyakee and now Humar was a point of pride, and I can't see myself ever abandoning either of them. They're definitely worth the trouble to get! :D

Today Humar becomes no longer "that rare". Unfortunately, Bliz decided to add a reg mob with Humar's skin in the expansion. Like we didn't get shafted enough by pets being normalized a few patches back, making them all equal by families (all cats have the same stats, etc.). Only reason to hunt for rares now is the pride of having something "uncommon". My condolences to those that, just like me, spent days trying to get this badass cat. Blizzard already killed the rares being that special, PLEASE don't take their skins too! Its the only thing they got left. =(

Lvl 23 night elf hunter, up in the tree. Started taming him, and up he came. Half way till taming him when he reached me. So I took a few hits he got me to 8/10ths of health until I tamed him.
Easiest way to get him is to wait for the morning.
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Kilrogg&cn;=Krowbane
Copy paste the link into the address bar so you can see my character and what equipment I had on. I only had Aspect of the Hawk on.
Tips:
1) Don't use aspect of the cheetah on open flat ground with monsters. If you have a mount, then use it and then run past any animal without getting stunned.
2)To ding faster, ask for a boost (xp) in instances or raids from your friends, guilds or party members.
3)You don't need frost trap or stun shot to tame Humor. He is fairly easy to get.
4)Hunters need only agility. If you follow this link it will clarify why.
5)Beast Mastery is the beast tech for lvling and for pets to tank and do damage.
6)At some lvl in the game you can gain the ability to get another spec, but at a hefty cost. Max marksman for pvp and beast mastery for the other for pve. (Not 100% sure if it is correct)
I hope this post helps everyone to get their own Humor. (I think we should spam Battlenet.com to make rare elites have better stats and RARE colour skin only for that beast. I am on Kilrogg, so message me ingame if you want help or want to spam Battlenet. Or you could e-mail me at JWKensington@googlemail.com.

I just got humar last night. I had a bit of trouble taming him because I had to put my Echeyakee away to tame him. Im completely useless without my pet. Taming humar was MUCH easier than Echeyakee because you dont have to wait for someone to actually do the quest, and THEN you have to tame him before the hord quester kills him. Not sure what I what matters more for a hunter, speed or damage? so ill be switching to two around. So far Ive run into one humar and two echeyakee so I guess humar is more rare.

Well, I started camping it at roughly 3:00pm PST. It's 7:23pm and no sign of Humar yet. I tamed The Rake already, and he is far too overrated. His damage is nothing to be excited about, and at 22, he begins to lose aggro from time to time. Oh well, back to camping. Will keep this updated.

On the HUmar spawn time: I'm pretty sure it's random. Of course, HUmar's spawn time is within sane boundaries.
HUmar is a unique cat. HUmar is black and is the only black lion. HUmar is an elite mob! It is hard to tame HUmar because of all the other people trying to tame HUmar for the reasons above HUmar.
No really, thanks Blizz. :0

hi all,
I am from HK and playing in TW server here is the best hint to get him. Just tell ur low guildies to grind that area and when the Swiftmane spawns there humar spawns too so when they see swiftmane make sure they call u GL HF GG. Or wait there early in the morning after 2-4 hours after server resets.

Humar has a random spawn time.
Humar spawns once a day. NOT the 8-9 hour bs you hear from others.
Humar is on top of the Plateau.
You have the most chances of finding Humar after a server reset.

Just got him at 2100 EST on Garona. There were these 3 hunters logging in and out to check and see, but after 5 minutes they were gone. I got lucky as one of the hunter literally just logged as he began to appear. I didn't bother with a conc shot, just frost trap and tamed. Just as I had him, the other hunter who just logged appear back, shaking his head and crying. He was a troll and I was a drawf..he said something, and couldn't understand (probably better that I didn't LOL).

Lol, so i just hit lvl 30 when i first got him, but the story is awesome. I was running to ratchet, chasting a night elf hunter. Suddenly he ran left and he saw Humar and i knew this was gonna be fun. Instantly after he started to tame him i killed the Alliance fool and ran up to Humar and tamed him. Right then the hunter respawned and i had Humar under my control. So, i tested him out on him. lol. Funny. Later i saw the hunter in ratchet waiting for the ship and the n00b attacked me. lol.
Errr, one more thing. I'm lvl 37 now and so is he...wtf, i thought he could learn prowl or dash or somethin? Am i wrong here? Cuz so far all he knows is bite and growl...pretty freakin whack.

I went to where you can find Humar and he was sleeping under a tree so i put on aspect of the monkey and tamed him on my first try. You have to feed him right away because it takes him awhile to gain loyalty. i have him at level 28 right now. he attacks like 4 or 5 times before an opponent attacks. he is the best pet

This guy made me pretty happy for a while.
I was running around in Darkshore, and saw a guy with Humar. Asked where he got him, and he said in the barrens. I ran around, North of Ratchet, forever, not able to find him. When he said North, I didn't know he actually meant, right above Ratchet lol.
So anyways, I got on the net and googled him. Found out where he was and read up on him some. One guy had said you needed to kill all the other lions. Pft, that didn't work. What a bunch of bull lol. So after reading some more, I found out he was on a spawn time. This was the first rare spawn pet I'd ever tamed. So I was really excited lol.
I waited and waited, but he didn't show. Being a school night, I had to get off. But at around 8am - EST, I decided I'd check before I went to school. What do you know, there he was! Anxious, I quickly tamed him without a problem. I was level 27 then, so I had no problem.
It was a hassel leveling him up, but it was worth it. He didn't stay too long though. After I got past level 30, I just stopped getting him out. I was happier with my non-special tiger lol. Oh well. The pets I have now are much better. Every once in a while I still go back to see if he's there. Took my friend there once on a random occasion. He tamed Humar, was happy. :) So all was good. Lol.
So anyways, he's a good pet for lower levels. But when you get higher, get King Bangalash. :D

Well, I was on my main and decided to take a peek (had been futzin' around in RFK) and wouldn't you know it, there he was. I put out a message in General in case someone wanted him, then decided to go ahead and jump on my hunter (lvl 28). Logged her in at SW, put out another message in SW General chat for interested hunters, then made my way to Ratchet.
Amazingly enough Humar was still there and not a soul in sight, so I went ahead and tamed him.
Approximately 2:00pm,
Malygos
server. So if his spawn time is really on the 8-12 hour cycle, he should show up again between 10:00pm - 2:00am.
Best of luck.

Got him when I woke up after checking a few times in the middle of the night. Didn't really want him that much until I read about you guys and how much trouble you went through to get him. When I went there a lvl 33 draenei hunter appeared after a while and started cleaning the kitties. I figured he/she was after Humar too, cause after awhile (and no Humar) they logged out. So I got Humar anyways. Named "Kurai" on Sporeggar, EU realms.
Now that I have him though, he's definitely pretty.

Went looking for him after reading the site, found him sitting there with about 20 huntresses around him, tamed him no problems.
What is the next big challenge for a 25th level Tauren Hunter?
Would say those that are having trouble are on PVP servers where people feel the need to kill everything, on a roleplaying server, where the Tauren's are keeping the wasteful slaughter down and it certainly makes finding things easier.

When I was camping him with my hunter (level 23) waiting to get my shot at taming him, I noticed a strange pattern with the spawning of the lions around the tree.
When I first went there, it was fully spawned, then after I had cleared it a few times, the cats would only spawn on one side of the tree... and when I killed those, almost immediately, they would respawn on the other side.
Anyway, after going afk for a while, I came back, cleared around the tree a few more times, and waited. And waited... and waited...
For 40 minutes, not one single lion/cat spawned anywhere around the tree. Confused, I ran away from the tree and came back to see if there was an anti-camping thing implemented, where if you're sitting too near a mobs spawn point, it wont spawn. Nada with that.
Waited around a little bit longer and bam. He spawns. No other cats around for 40 minutes and then he shows up. I tame him and wait 15 more minutes before another cat respawns finally.

I just tamed him this morning. 10/5/5.
I ran to The Barrens from Ashenvale around 8:10ish EST. After reading the posts posted here, I figured out which tree he spawns at. It actually is the only tree in the area where Matriarchs and Patriarchs spawn.
After 2 hours of killing anything that moved, I got bored and tried to kill Swiftmane, who was roaming the area. That bastard had me chase him through every agro-able creature in the area. Long story short, I died a quick death from the 5-7 other Mobs in the area.
When I got back to my body, I noticed that I had not kept up with the spawn rate around the tree. When I was clearing the lions, I noticed Humar in the shade just as it was posted. After clearing any possible adds, I put down a frost trap and it was an easy tame after that. I looked at the time, and it was 10am EST exactly when I tamed him.
Hope my long winded story helps.

I pretty much almost got an heart attack when i saw him. THe rush of adrenaline was like whoa. Haha. Anyways here's my story, I was waiting since 3 pm -5 EST for him, but decided to try to find another elite somewhere else. No luck so at 9:56 pm ish. I decided to go back and take a look, he was there!
First try, freeze trap....tame tame tame, scratch scratch ouch, taming FAILED. Died. Second try same thing again, this time he did his... agonizing pain Skill on me, it took more than half of my hunter's hp.. and I am lvl 24 too. At the final moments, I thought i would never be able to tame him this time but try again. To my surprise, I tamed him RIGHT BEFORE I died. I had basically 2-4 hp left. Couldn't even see the red bar. I was so happy, hopefully some of you guys can also tame him one day.
Update:
Here's a screenie, right after i got him.

I have always admired Humar, but I never really had it out to tame him. But...literally seconds ago, I did.
I've read all these stories about hunters camping by that damn tree for a week - something I'd never do - and seeing nothing. I wasn't too interested in taming Humar, but I just wanted to swing by for kicks and giggles to see if he was there. Natrually, I was expecting the regular Barrens lion spawn. But low and behold, there was Humar! I had a surge of adreneline, for I had never seen him in the wild before. Being 15 levels higher than him, he was pretty easy to tame. (Although that gap won't be too convinenent in the future.) I probobally don't deserve to have him as much as all these eccentric players who spend hours looking for him, but nevertheless I am overly extatic that I have him!
My advice for those who want to tame Humar...don't camp. You'll be dissapointed. Just check back every once in a while, and he'll be there....eventually.
Good luck! :]

Above all else, Tame Humar. He is the ultimate pet. You see all the hunters running around Ironforge with their white cats from Winterspring. Compare the stats. Humar does more dps than these cats, and he's so darn good looking. I find myself traveling to the Barrens once in awile just to see if his brother is up. Even though it's just a game, I love this pet so much, I almost feel a real life bond to him. I didn't tame Humar until level 42, but after some hard work. I got him up to my level. Tame him and you won't regret it.

came back to live on the cemetery (nice bug). but good shortcut.
went up to the tree, and there he was yawning.

I tamed Humar at 6:30am PST on the Antonidas server.
Not sure how often he spawns, the posts here say 9hrs and 12hrs.
I tried most of yesterday to catch him without success - partly because I was looking under the wrong tree for half the day - lol. To be clear for those who don't have coord addons like me - there are two trees with lions under them just north of Rachet. Just as you leave Rachet, heading North, there is a tree by the side of the road to your right with male lions asleep under it. This is not Humar's tree. Go west across country, past this tree, to the next tree you come to on the edge of the plane by the cliff. This one has female lions and cubs and just one or two males. If Humar has spawned he will he here. As someone said, it is the tree just to the north of the word Rachet on your minimap.
He's a lvl 23, the lions around him are 15 to 18. I found I only needed to kill one other to get him alone, but then they don't aggro me as I am lvl 32. I used a freeze trap on him and tamed him easily (well if I am honest, I messed up the first time and started attacking him so played dead till he disengaged and then did it again - good tip if you can play dead and a taming goes wrong).
Now I just need to train him up to my level quickly and get him dash off a stranglehorn tiger - and he will be an awesome pet.
This one's for keeps! Long may Humar reign!
Update - just for fun - or perhaps becuase I'm cruel - I took pet Humar back to kill wild Humar. Would have been easy except that when he had taken several hits, his whole pride (about a dozen lions) came to defend him. We only just escaped with our lives and the loot from wild Humar, thanks to some swiftness potion. Just a tip for those of you thinking of killing him - you may want to kill off the tribe first - and hope like hell no-one gets to Humar while you are doing this for them.

Keep going back if your trying to get one. To me he's really worth it.
He sits alone in the shade and there are mothers and cubs to the outer side not one single one bothered me, But make sure that you have your armor full and extra protection he killed me the first time and i was a level 24 when hes only 23.

Just got Humar today, 9:47pm EST on Spinebreaker (6:47pm server time), on my level 33 Hunter. I'm happy now :). I have Humar and his white brother Echeyachee. Leveling Humar from 23 - 33, however, is going to suck!
(62,33) are Humar's coordinates in the Barrens, right near ratchet. Killing the momma's and the cubs do NOT, I repeat, do NOT increase the likelihood Humar will spawn. It is, however, a good way to waste time if you're a skinner.
Good luck to all you Humar hunters out there. Don't give up, you'll get him eventually! :)

He's awesome.

for those of you who are having alot of trouble and are frustrated this might help; humar spawns every 8-12 hrs after he is killed/tamed/server reset. also that he might share the same respawn time with swiftmane, a lvl 21 elite zhevra that runs around barren nonstop. so if youve killed swiftmane before youve caught humar you probably reser the respawn for both elites. i dont kno if they do share a respawn time, so plz respond if im wrong. hope this helps! happy hunting!

I was just running to Ratchet with my lvl 22 blood elf hunter chick to pick a FP, when I thought to myself that perhaps Humar could be under his tree. Wnet there and he indeed was there! I Play this game for some time now and I have to admit I have seen him for the first time :) (but never played a hunter before)
Run to him without fear of aggro, as those lions are lvl 15-16. Started taming and the found out, I cannot tame him, because I have one level too few :D
So I run to Ratchet picked the "Nortwatch Hold" quest as that is the single one that was at least somewhere near my level and close enough, run down there and killed those poor theramore marines until I dinged (luckily I was halfway to 23 already) run back and got killed along the way by the pirates :D
Ressurected, tossed my pet to the goblin stable master and run up to the tree.
..and he was still there!
Got a little closer, placed the freezing trap, backed to the maximum tame distance and started taming. He got to me, clwed me few times, but nothing serious, and he was mine :) Feeded him sa buzzard meat I had left from Ghostlands, he ate about 10 of them till he was happy :) Now only thing that remains is to think of a nice name for him :)
Even untrained, he has 5 more dps than my old lynx :) And that is something on this lvl =)
Oh and the time :) found him a while after 5 am and got him at 6 a.m =D Lucky me :D
Now I am off to bed ;) The only thing that remains to do is think of some nice kickass name :)

The Humar Logs 2.0
Jan. 22 3:56 PM
No sign of the Black lion. Giving its only been a couple hours, but i was hoping to get lucky. Boredom and Paronia have set in. Im scared to step away from the screen, if he was to appear and I for some reason lose him..... Well we'd be back at step one. The dullness of waiting has also taken its toll. A zhevra looked at me funny, so i reduced him to loot. Im also starting to get the feeling by temporary pet doesn't enjoy his new master. Maybe it's the fact im constantly making him fight mob after mob of his own kind. Or perhaps it's because i appropriatly named him "JustForHumar". Either way, who cares. He's like a bad roomate, all he does is eat my food an lay around. Until the next entry. Wish me luck...

camped him for about an hour yesterday with no luck...forgot to look last night before i went to bed... =\
went back there first thing this morning and he was lounging right under the shadow of the tree...
freezing trap + concussive shot + tame beast = new pet! =) named him 'blackwatch'

After a seven and a half hour camp I finally tamed him at level 23 using every trick I had.
After running back to Ratchet to unload my goods, I got back in time to catch his spawn at the same time as a Tauren hunter who was intent on killing him. I made it to him first but the Tauren made for the attack. After dying due to some troubles with the Hunter, I ran back to find the Hunter had left him be. This was my second shot and the first tame failed and I died again. With a heart full of hope and a solid battle plan I made it back to find him still there and not a single player in the area.
After droping an ice trap and moving back to maximum tame distance I poped aspect of the monkey and stoneform, hit him with a scorpid sting to lower his attack and went to work. The ice trap held him for most the tame and when he finally made it to me I only lost a quarter of my life.
I already threw a point into beastial swiftness to learn it and he is much faster than my Moonstalk that I had tamed and had been using up to this point.
It was a proud moment and I'm flaunting him proudly.
Next goal is the White Lion, which might take a little finagling.

I have a level 34 Hunter and I've been looking for a pet that's good and yet does decent damage as well. I searched around these list things and finally found this guy. I ran over to Crossroads and then to the area above Ratchet. I went under the tree like you all said and he wasn't there... Then I realized there was another tree, so I quickly ran over there, nothing. I did this with another tree with the same results. After a while I just started killing the little lions and skinning them. Then my little brother comes to kick me off the computer and I just gave up and started toward Crossroads. On the way there, about 25 feet from where I had been, Humar spawned ON me.. I couldn't believe my eyes since some of these guys camped here for 9 hours while I sat there for FIFTEEN MINUTES! I quickly tamed him and ran to Crossroads. He's an amazing pet!

i have a question, why did you try and tank with a cat. the rake has 1.2 attack speed and is really good in pvp and against elite people for the begining part of the game. the rake is not a tank. he dies realitivly fast compared to others but he killes fast. that is the point. you need the rake for spirit bond and other moves like that. he cant tank worth crap. like most high attack speed cats.

Just read here about the Pridelord today. Looks very cool and so I went to Ratchet to get him. After spending half an hour farming at the wrong Place, I read about the Pat & Mat Tree.
What can I say... just went to this tree... and there he was, piecefully sleepin´in the sun : )
Tamed him with an Ice Trap after a few seconds.
Hmm... I´m a Lvl. 54 Hunter... will take a lot of time, spending in leveling up my Pridelord.
Any Ideas, what will be the easiest way therefor ?

Well not sure if this helps but it is what i tried and has worked twice in testing to get Humar in less than 2 hours each time...maybe just a fluke don't know. Anyway I just sat in the tree, there will be one Savannah Patriarch at the tree. I reasoned that he was the place holder seeing as how you can only have male pride leader in a lion family. So I started killing just him and left the matriarchs alone. Respawn time on patriarch is maybe 15-20 minutes. And voila instead of patriarch on one of the spawns Humar pops. Worked for me so hope it does for you.

Oh my lord it is inevitable to read a thread on WoW without some idiot complaining like a %^&*! and calling others noobs the whole time.
No one likes you and no one cares about your problems with other people.
Do something about it and dont whine.
and you wonder why the 'noobs' were kiling Humar?
WHAT DID THEY ASK BEFORE YOU JOINED?
"NEED HELP KILLING LVL 23 ELITE"
wow... did they not say 'KILLING'?
It only shows that your the noob.
well it's not like your going to come back and read your post... so those who read this... dont #$%^& and moan like rrhinoo here!

As for Humar.... I'm taming his ass :D

I'm pretty lucky with rare spawns with my new hunter alt :)
I've went looking for The Rake twice, he was there both times. While I was there I thought I might as well look for Ghost Howl and Mazzranache, they too were there both times. Earlier today I decided I wanted a Worg as a pet, so I looked up the rare spawns around my level and found Gorefang, lvl 13 rare in Silverpine. He was there when I arrived.
Now a minute ago I was reading here about Humar and I was standing in Ratchet, so I thought "I'll go check, maybe he's there.". To my rather big surprise, there he was, standing in the shadow under the tree. Unluckily I'm only lvl 14 and can't tame him, but when I hit 23 in a few days I will come looking for him again. I hope that my luck won't have run out by then. :)

I finally got to lvl 23 and was questing & WC'ing in Barrens. Took two days to actually find him when I was 23, had two friends cheering me on, and I went after him. I set a freeze trap and it worked perfectly. It went smooth as can be, until he didn't take the tame. I said, that's fine, I can get him next time I get up there. I then noticed a dwarf just run in and kill it. Killed it like it was nothing. He must have saw us standing there. I hate Alliance. Oh yeah, i noticed he must spawn at 600 something around central time by everyone's stories. Can anyone tell me if I'm too low lvl to tame 23 elite? I am 23 myself.

I camped up in that tree where humar spawns for 2 days. Gained a level (frm 23 to 24) while waiting for him to spawn. Tamed him in a single try with concussion and freeze trap when he did. For those who cant find him, a little more perseverence helps.
Like what others said, he can almost tank like a bear, with an attack speed of 1.3. His dps ranges from 21-28. Now we're both level 27. He loves fish and i can find em anywhere.
Great versatile pet to have! Im trying to get an Echayakee now..

OK...
I just got HUMAR and I am so pumped! Yes I know it is just a game and all...but DAMN, that's awsome for a Hunter to have! I got him @ 11:30 mst on a tuesday, no idea how long he had been there. He was sleeping in the middle of the shadow of the tree...you can't miss him...he is an awsome huge black lion. Was a bit of a challenge to tame even at 26. First attempt failed...I had to run away and eat/drink. Second time, I used concussive shot and a freeze trap and he was mine.
Anyway, It was about 11 hours after a server restart, so maybe there is some truth to that. Don't camp this guy, you will just be bored and frustrated. I camped him for about 6 hours one day then gave up. I just set my hearth to ratchet and used eagle eye to spy on the tree every time i hearthed. Eventually his big black a$$ was there for me to tame. Good luck to the rest of ya!

I finally got him! After a lot of camping and out lasting other players, I got him! He is beautiful and we will spend plenty of levels together.
Be careful of coords, I had a different set from thott, and wasted several hours in the wrong spot. Humar's tree up top a hill from the one that you first see down on the plain. So the coords will almost appear to be the same.
I was able to get him without to much trouble, but he spawned right near the spot I was standing, so had no time for a concussion shot, I did lay a freeze trap and started, and even with my health lowered a bit because of fighting the other lions, I was able to tame, he spawed as a 23 Elite.
Bring a friend to help clear the ton of lioness and cubs and the random horde player. Over all the camping was quiet in the Barrens. But to be honest, I had more difficulty from Alliance players then horde. ARGH!
And in between, helped a guildie get Echeyakee!

I wont tell how I have tamed it or my level, or how it was easy... because it is the only thing that people do here, but I have tamed both Echeyakee and Humar and these are the stats for both of them, having a beast mastery hunter:
Humar @ lvl 27:
Strength: 56
Agility: 47
Stamina: 137
Intellect: 23
Spirit: 39
Power: 122
Damage: 53-66
Armor: 1898
Echeyakee @ lvl 25:
Strength: 53
Agility: 45
Stamina: 129
Intellect: 23
Spirit: 37
Power: 116
Damage: 40-49
Armor: 1813
The stats looks to be equivalent for the 2 cats considering Echeyakee was 2 lvl lower when I took these stats. The damage done seems to be a little bigger with Humar, but it's still almost the same. I'll try to post the stats with both at the same lvl.

First comment :) I tamed this beauty just mins. ago wooot and just wanted to share some what I consider facts and myths.
FACTS:
- Humar spawns right under the shade of the tree so his spawn location is fixed, he doesn't spawn anywhere else.
- His respawn time is random, anywhere from 8-12 hours approx. So that means u get to see him 2 times to 3 times per day.
- After server restart or patch, again he takes around 8-12 hours after the servers are on. I can confirm that my server went live 8:50AM, I started camping till 5:30PM when he spawned.
MYTHS:
- Clearing all the mobs or Switfmane the elite zebra won't make him spawn.
- Hunters who have just caught him and don't dismiss the pet won't make a difference. I got beat by a loser yesterday he never dismissed the pet. I still got my pet today :)
- The mobs-stop-spawning effect doesn't mean anything. I had that happen today at noon. I thought it was a sign that Humar was going to spawn, but he didn't.
---------------------------------------------------------
Spawned today at 7:12pm CST on Eldre`Thalas. I camped him for 7 hours only to have some jerk named Duende, a hunter no less, walk up and kill him while I was taming, then sat down and camped. I imagine he'll be back in 8 hours to try and claim him for himself. Gotta love that.
Snagged him today, 01-08-07 at approx 10:23pm CST on Eldre'Thalas. Best looking pet in game I tell ya! Now I need to figure out what to name him...

I started camping him out at 8:00am server time May 5,08. He spawned at 9:27am server time on Proudmoore. He attacks pretty fast and hits for about 50 dmg. I was 25 at the time.
Also you only need to feed him two pieces of meat to take him to happy. I used 552 health food and it only required 2 pieces. But like the poster above me said you have to WAIT the 20 seconds after feeding him ONE piece, for the full feed effect to occur.
Think of the pet like a player, when a player eats/drinks something they sit down and have to wait the 25 seconds of eating/drinking... same story with the pet. Just be glad mend pet isn't channel anymore :P

Attack speed 1.3, Will add rest of stats whenever I log in.. found him under his tree one day while I was going to ratchet, tamed him in one easy pull.
Also have Echeyakee, deciding what to do, so far Echeyakee is 26 and Humar is 23 with Humar at approx 13 DPS, Echeyakee at 17. will try and get Humar up to 26 before I decide which I want to keep, Echeyakee is getting rarer and Humar is getting far more. When I get Humar to 26, I'll post the comparison.

I learned about Humar the Pridelord from the WoW hunter forums and decided I had to have him. A task easier said than done. Allakhazam gave the exact location of where he spawned, but I had my doubts as to whether I was in the right spot or not. I spent three days in the area killing lions and figured the best bet would be to wait until after a shutdown and see if he spawned. I killed countless Savannah Matriarchs, Patriarchs and Cubs, but still no Humar. I logged out on a little knoll-like hill and came back a few times here and there. No matter how many times you prepare yourself, you're never quite prepared for when you see ole Humar for the first time. It was shock, surprise and YES! at the same time. He did finally spawn and was there when I logged in just this last time--an hour before the Tuesday routine shutdown. I was so happy. A couple notes: 1) Bring a hefty health potion because he hits hard; at level 27 I barely lived through the tame, 2) He spawns near the tree directly north of Ratchet. You'll know you're in the right place when you're near the cliff and all you see are Savannah Matriarchs, Patriarchs and Cubs. He roams a little area around the tree. He's black so you can't miss him. My best advice is to go back to the area often and logout there and use another character until you tame him. He's a prize for me. I named him "Humar" so I can role-play him with my character. Yes, the skin may be the only difference, but I think I'm the only one on my server so far to have him. And that's pretty darn cool to have a one-of-a-kind pet. He's a nice replacement for The Rake.

Finally got him. Even on a fairly new server he was hard to track down, the first time I spent around 8 hours staring at the tree and gave up. Now I'm level 40 and went to go get broken tooth instead, lot of people out there too, almost gave up on that till i decided to pop in before dinner and thankfully there he was so i tamed him, and happened to tame barnabas there a couple hours earlier. So this morning I woke up around 5 AM and decided since I was awake to pop into WoW just too give humar a shot again, so I sat there for 45 mins, then this annoying dwarf showed up, started jumping over me and running circles around my mount..I didnt move. I guess he got tired of being annoying cause he went and sat himself down on the other side of the tree, lucky me! Humar showed up right in front of me 5 mins later and the dwarf had no clue. So three rares in less then 24 hours total. Cant complain.

Ok, so, I've been camping Humar at the location in The Barrens for several days now... killing all the Patriarchs, Matriarchs and cubs (for lack of anything else to do and in a vain hope that it will force Humar to pop)- and thus far, nothing. Not a sausage. I am really hoping he hasn't been removed from the game, as some postings I have seen have suggested. Should he turn up, i'll be certain to follow this post with another confirming his existance.

he's really easy to tame actually. Log out near his respawn place and just come back every few hours. When he spawns, lay down a frost trap and start taming. I you have things like really sticky glue, that helps, and even a concussive shot before. he's a great pet and really makes casters pissed.

Short story - Humar popped on Vashj @ 9:45PM PST. exact coordinates under the shade of the tree.
I headed up to camp Humar and a lvl 43 NE hunter was there camping as well. We harassed each other for the better part of 6 hours (kill me) - he tried to run a few mob trains into me then feign death (the bastage), but what else do you expect on a pvp server? At some point we both must have taken a break and ran into each other at the inn at Ratchet - and both tore back there. Before I took my break I was pretty irritated - I was determined to be there and get him myself and if I couldn't tag him, I was going to do my best to keep NE Hunter him from getting Him. I even went so far as to name the pet I was going to abandon a derogatory name towards his mother (no offense, btw). We were there for not more than 10 minutes at most (Approx. 9:45ish pm PST) and Humar popped.
But he absolutely started taming him first and he was pretty paranoid and was camping RIGHT on the place where he spawned, so he didn't have time to set a trap or pretty much do anything other than start taming out of sheer fear I was going to start first or that I was going to be a b*tch and mess with him. But I didn't have the heart to when it came down to it. What a softee I'm turning out to be.
So I'm camping there now with my slumber sand and sticky glue and freezing trap.

I guess I must have just gotten lucky. I have been playing WoW for about a week. I found a list of pets on a website and Humar sounded cool. I went to the spot it showed on the map and he was there. Tamed first try. Glad I didn't have to camp for hours like some of you!

lvl 23 orc, got him about an hour ago on Kel'thuzad.
I hung around his spawnpoint for about an hour and a half, killing cubs/matriarchs to pass the time. I then sat down in the tree and logged off. When I came back on a little while later, there he was. I abandoned my raptor(I was already stabling a hyena), came down from the tree, freezetrapped and tamed him. Piece of cake.
A tip for those who aren't quite sure which tree he spawns under: if you can't climb it, it's the wrong one.

I posted this elsewhere but here:
I tamed Humar yesterday in less than two hours.
Now I know some of that was luck but I wanted to add my own theory. I read somewhere that someone tamed him within a little while of killing and rekilling the surrounding lions. Out of part strategy and part boredom I killed every lion in the area and waited for them to rez (to also eliminate a mob should Humar appear). However, I was suspicious that it was taking 10-15 minutes for a single mother/cub or patriarch to rez when I just stood there. So I started moving around the tree and shade area and they began to rez. I promptly killed them all again, waited, and experienced the same wait time. The next few trials I started moving around within 5 minutes of the kills. They seemed to rez more quickly and all at once instead of one here or there. Humar appeared right after I glanced away from the screen to talk to my husband and I promptly tamed him. (At lvl 35 I didn’t bother with an icetrap.)
I wonder if movement and when or how often the mobs spawn have anything to do with his spawn…
AND lucky me had a Horde friend help me tame Echeyakee a few hours later.
I’m proud of both, even though some claim taming Humar has become commonplace and even if I got Echeyakee the easy way.
(Sigh, my husband thought you could continuously rename pets and named Humar Anarchy, so now I’ll look like some angsty gamer teen <instead of an angsty gamer young twenty something? :p >. I have yet to rename Echeyakee. Because my husband is an officer and wants a K9 someday and we currently have a white German Shepherd we thought Cocaine would be a good K9 name and I was going to steal it for Echeyakee but it doesn’t seem to be allowed. )

Sorry to say, but Humar isn't that great. All his stats are lower than Rake at the same level. I compared him at level 28 to my level 28 Rake, and the only thing Humar had over her was 0.2 damage and 30 more HP. Everything else, every stat, armor, speed, all lower. He is neat looking and somewhat rare, but overall, not worth your time to camp when you could get a better pet that's easier to tame sooner with Rake.

Whats the diff. between him and the other lions..... (i mean the other two rare ones, and who is king b?)

That's right. Spent 10 hrs camping him all in the name of RP. He is a cool looking cat none the less. Makes a fine edition to the stable with the rake.
When he spawned I had a level 54 priest assistin me but man did he hate the priest. They had to fade to lose agro after I spendt a while trying to taunt shot him off the priest. He spawns at the tree with all the patriarchs and matriarchs closest to ratchet too like the others said.

I made my way to The Barrens last night as soon as I hit 23 (Dwarf Hunter on Laughing Skull). I didn't realize that you don't get a durability hit if Horde kill you (as opposed to mobs, or at least that's what it seems like from the combat log), so I went completely naked. It was my first time doing this (going to the Horde continent, and going anywhere naked), so I didn't even bring a gun (big mistake).
Naked hunter without ranged attack = call for all Horde to attack me. I died twice, then an extremely nice Night Elf Rogue (Level 51) decided to help me get to the spot. Looked around the bushes for a bit, no luck. Then moved to the tree with the patriarchs/matriarchs. He wasn't there, and I camped for about 45 minutes-1 hour, then logged (this was last night).
Got up this morning and logged on right before work (~7:45 AM EST), and there he was. Lay down a freezing trap and started taming, it was no problem, even for a naked 23. Unfortunately I had to go to work right after (which is where I am now), so haven't had a chance to test him out. But he looks badass ^_^ Good luck to all trying to get him.

Humar's spawn is random. I've seen him spawn at 10 hours, and 8 hours after the server was back up. I know this for a fact because I do alot of skinning around his tree. Killing the named charger Swiftwind did not make him spawn either. All you can do is wait until he pops, and hope that you can tame him before someone else does.

I took a young guild member into the Barrens to kill a demon and get the cloak he drops, after letting him run around killing things to lvl, me and my wife ( a NE Hunter ) went to see if Humar was there, we approached the tree and she told me he isn't there, so I walked around and on the west side of the tree he was there! In utter shock I ran through all the other lions and began taming while my wife slaughtered the other lions and there cubs.
9pm Server time. Humar is mine, Finally.
So now my Pet list is as follow...
1. Echeyakee ( lvl16 in training )
2. Stranglethorn Vale Panther lvl35 ( Main atm )
3. Humar the Pridelord ( Will be main for now )
I may drop the White lion just so I might pick up a Rotting Boar to learn Dash. Not sure. I need a tank. Any suggestions?
I am a level 36 Dwarf Hunter, I have had a great week, Hit my 1000 Gold mark, Caught Humar and got the weapon of my dreams.

Fourth, it is my belief that he was tamed earlier this morning at around 4:00 or so server time, give or take. I located him at 3:00.
I mean,
c'mon.

Well, at 1th i only heard of him from an other hunt, cuz i were searching for a rare pet somewhere. And the pet i had was an elite bear from dun moroph, but he sucked sow i wanna change him :)
So, after i got the cords i starded to camp under the three. After like 2h came 2 other ppls and i asked them wut they were here for:
Grind da sannawa $%^&*! on of them said.. so i gave up for the night (23.30 GMT)
Next day the server were rebooted (as usuall) on the wednesdays, so i loged in and i waited for ever.. like 4h then came 3 ppls
lvls 28, 29, 29
and said they were here for grind him.. but then i called my irl friend whos 70 ally on that server, so he came and "protected" me from others :)
after i had went for dinner and so my irl friend called me and screamed that he had respawn, so i ran to the comp and tamed him :D:D i were so ^&*!ing happy, and all the waiting were all worth it, omg hes qute :) dont give up all, over nd out /kewk

I tamed him back at lv 23...saw him on petopia and had to get him. Now he's 62 and has been the perfect pet. When I first went there, there was another hunter who I talked to for a little while before she left and I had the tree all to myself. I spent about 3 hours waiting for him to spawn, gave up, went there the next day, waited, logged to play on my druid, and then came back on and there he was. Easy tame and right afterwards I showed him off to some random horde in Ratchet XD
Not many people have him at high levels, so he's good if you want a unique pet. Since he's a cat, he has great skills like claw, bite, prowl, and dash. If you want to tame him, make your hearth Ratchet and check back every once in awhile, he'll spawn eventually.

Well he is located on a fixed area which is the crooked tree North of the word Rachet if you pull your map out. for people with cords the location: The Barrens 62,33 in the shadow of the crooked tree, Hope this helps.

After getting bored I logged out on a hill directly across from the tree where he spawns. I logged on once or twice a day looking and finally today he was there. It can be a wait but worth every second in my book. Bas ass looking feline.

I found Humar exactly where everyone here mentioned. I was really lucky; when I approached the area, he was snoozing under the tree with his ladies. I released some random bear I had brought along on my journey, and started to tame him. A female and her cub joined the fight, and I was toast. Tried again. Got him to fight me alone, but he still killed me. I tried again, using aspect of the monkey. I would have been dead, but the big guy missed the last two killing shots, and I got him with about 12 hit points left O_O! (I was at level 24).

I once saw Humar while playing with my Undead Priest, doing quests in The Barrens. Then I thought I can come back and tame him, looking so cool! :)
But later I learned that it has a long respawn timer. Nevertheless, I stopped by his spot once in a while passing The Barrens with my now L32 Hunter, and spotted him late at night. Tamed him nicely :) But not so long after my tame, my girlfriend called and we talked a long while. When I returned to my screen, Humar has ran away :( I parked my Hunter to his spot and logout. Checking him every 1-2 hours, I saw him again like 6-7 hours later and tamed him again :) So, not so long respawn timer, normal.
He surely looks cool!

In order to get Humar the Pridelord to spawn is to kill all the lions around the tree, yes, even the cubs! At first, he will not be there. You will have to kill off all the lions and cubs. When the lions respawn, he will spawn with them. Now, this was my experience, and I'm sure ppl have their stories but this worked best for me. I got him to spawn on the first try doing this. Make sure you find the tree with the cubs - because that's where he will spawn. Easy as pie. Good luck, he's a keeper.

I got him!
I camped him for 6 hours on Saturday (1/20). No sign of him! I was really discouraged, esp since I was already nervous of the horde ganking me while I was there and not having a pet at my side to help me.
Anyway, I went to bed and the next morning I logged in at 5:30 server time (Maelstrom). I went to Ratchet, and the town was empty! Guess all the horde were sleeping. LOL As I approached the pride tree, there he was! I tamed him in one shot, he never called in any lions to help or anything. As soon as I got him, I fed him and hearthed back to Stormwind City. He's AWESOME! SOOOO worth the wait!

I got him Saturday morning at 7:45AM (Icecrown) server time. I had been camping him for a week, checking for him every 2-3 hours, and logging off at the rock right across from "The Pride Tree". I abandoned my Echeyakee right then and there for this guy. I still do not notice any distinguishing characteristic of his spawn time. I am trying to help my brother, and fellow BE Hunter get him as well. I have seen him twice since then, but...by the time I get him logged in, someone else has beat me to the punch. He is using a leveled up Ghostclaw Ravager. I stayed in the Barrens near the pride tree all day after I tamed him, save for a few quests I picked up from Ratchet, but...I saw him tamed all three times in one day. I got him in the morning...a dwarf Hunter got him at 3:45PM, and...he was last tamed at 11:50PM. Now...my brother stayed on to try and get him the next time he spawned, which...by the time of the last three spawns was every 8 hours, right? Wrong! He was not there again at 7:45 in the morning. IT has to rest each day, apparently...or, he might just be a random spawn at different times each day but, but...on a schedule after the first spawn. Truth be told...we will never know, it is just stupid, blind luck if you camp there and re-log and find him. Now that all pets have been nerfed though...I guess it doesn't matter between Humar and a freaking crab. I like him though, and...I do not regret wasting a week to get him.

I finally got this for my friend's hunter at 8:35AM Game Time on Moon Guard - Alliance.
We waited out for a few hours on day 1 and he didn't pop up. I saw on here that some people said if you killed the lions around he'd spawn. That's wrong. We killed lions for an hour and he never spawned. Waited an extra couple hours and nothing. Throughout the day we just kept checking every other hour.
Day 2 and 3 were much the same, just checking in every few hours to see if he was up.
Today, I was running around on my Druid collecting Blindweed in Swamp of Sorrows and my game crashed out. I figured before I got back in to log in my friend's alt and see if Humar was up. He was so I logged in on her 40 Hunter and had to get there to tame. There was a high level Blood Elf hunter there killing off the surrounding lions. I'm guessing maybe she was trying to clear out for a guildie? I started taming him and by the time she noticed and came over to kill Humar I had him tamed.
Few /laugh and /gloats pretty much pissed her off, as if Taming the lion out from under her didn't. Had to add a little insult to injury. I had my reasons.
Anyway, he's a nice looking pet. My friend logged in a bit ago and she's very happy with him. Hope she has fun leveling him up.
I hope you enjoy him, Apathie <3
Good Luck hunters!

My little L24 Draenei hunter was on her way to get the Ratchet FP... and maybe snag Humar on the way, if she was very, very lucky.
Amazingly, she was very, very lucky, as he was placidly napping, seemingly waiting on her to come and pick him up. :) I was so thrilled!
It was a simple tame- Ice Trap at max taming distance, begin tame, few seconds later he was all mine.
Now I have Humar (renamed Ose) and Echeyakee (renamed Coeurl). What a prize pair!

I didn't have trouble at all, I went looking for Rare Spawns and Elites on this site for a good pet, I'm a Level 32 Dwarf Hunter, on Sen'jin, lol I went to Auberdine, flew to Ratchet, guess what, he was right there by his tree when I was flying over it, no problem at all. Walked up there, killed his lackies, freezing trap, tame, boom. No trouble at all getting him, you guys just have the worst of luck I guess lol.

I woke up to use the bathroom at 4:55am and decided to check. He was there laying in the shade, but the server shut down in 3 mins message came rolling across my screen!
I hurried to pull & kill a couple of close mobs then got rid of my old pet.
1 concussive shot and a frost trap later he was mine. I logged out with 30 seconds to spare until server restart!

Easily got Humar. I placed my toon up in the tree last night before I logged. When I logged in at 9:00am this morning, there he was laying in the shade under me! I used my bow to clear out the surrounding cats and used the freeze trap to tame him. It only took two feedings to get him from red to green, but I had meat from lvl 20+ beasts on me. I hope this helps anyone of you trying to catch this beautiful cat for yourselves.

On first approach I see nothing...not a cub not a Matriarch nothing. I brought my spider along....I wonder if she knows that it is her time to be sacraficed...I wonder if she cares. I sit o the ground at the edge of the shade that the tree provides. I ponder. I think about all the great hunts I have been on and the great hunts yet to come.
Who is this....Is this a friend or a foe? A Death Knight. Why would a skull lvl DK be at my tree.
Suddenly lions start spawning from everywhere. My stomach lurches as I see this Death Idiot standing right where Humar is supposed to spawn. But he doesnt spawn. The Troll DK begins killing off all the lions. Which is fine. I sit and watch. This continues for almost 30 min. I see a nearby Patriarch and think that if I tame it maybe the DeathNub will know what im after and kindly leave. I say goodbye to Spinnenbiss and release her to the world which she came from. I target the mighty lion and beg of it to see the goodness in me while it strikes at me repeatadly.
It is finished sweaty and scared I sit down next to Cat and offer him some meat which he greadily takes.
The DK Laughs. The DK points and laughs. And then he dances. So I dance with him.
But he does not leave.
At this point I have to get into his head. I make note of the name and log off.
And log onto my Horde Hunter. I wisp him and ask if his intent is to kill Humar if he spawns.
The answer leaves no room for question.
Yeah.
All summed up in one word. I am wasting my time. TBC....

Thx to the ppl posting the area to find Humar, made getting him a lot easier.
The hardest part was running a Nightelf hunter into the heart of Horde territory.
Got there after about an hour of travelling (mainly working out the best path through enemy areas)and LUCKY ME ! Humar was snoozing under his tree :)
If theres a certain pet you want just try and get it whether it be a rare or just a type you like the look of ! Sometimes luck will go with you
