Ah well, these lists were a thing back in WotlK as well, but nothing has changed: you still have to make your own mix. If you don't understand what you're doing, (you're not this or that capped, and a full 1 stat green can be a better option) then you're still not well geared.The game hasn't changed, people just a bit, most still don't have an attention span or the time to get real good. Thing that has changed: we can find more dumbed down explanations cause many ppl already know every fight. When I was playing way too mutch, my greatest edge was that I knew every pull in a dungeon (addict as I was), could type fast and could get a group through. So when you know it, explain it to others. Combine that with a bit of patience, and you'll have a great time
