One very important thing, is to finish the conversation with Demitrian . Do not run off and spank Thunderaan the second he spawns, like some silly dwarf did, then have the raid group wondering why it never worked.

On the plus side, we got to kill him twice.

Actually I remember helping someone kill him and I DID in fact see this item, of course it was master looter anyway. Perhaps I have a screenshot somewhere if I didn't delete it. (edit: after searching, and searching, re-searching, I was unable to find even one Thunderaan kill screenshot on this computer, however I trust what my eyes saw that moment)

Edit: Considering that the original poster posted this info almost 2 years and a half ago it was perhaps in the mean time changed to be able to be seen by others.
Edit 2: I have begun the Thunderfury questline today; when I am at this point of the questline I'll be able to confirm/deny what I said. (since I cannot find said screenshot)

It begins with Examine the Vessel, followed by Thunderaan the Windseeker, culminating with Rise, Thunderfury!.

The quest chain begins when you loot one half of the Bindings, which drop off Baron Geddon and Garr in Molten Core. Upon looting either of these, you must then travel to Silithus and speak with Highlord Demitrian. He will give you the Vessel of Rebirth, which begins the quest line.

The next quest requires you to present the following items to Demitrian:

*
Both the left and the right Bindings of the Windseeker.
*
Essence of the Firelord, which is a 100% drop from Ragnaros if you have the quest.
*
10x Elementium Bar, obtained from smelting rare Molten Core and Blackwing Lair reagents.

Bring a raid with you when you return with the required items to Demitrian, because he will promptly summon Thunderaan, whom is not the least bit happy that he was locked away for so long. Defeating Thunderaan causes him to drop his blade, whereupon you can receive the Dormant Wind Kissed Blade. Deliver this to the now rather cowed Highlord, and he will make Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker for you.

Wish you were able to use a useability on Thunderfury, you'd be able to lightningbolt Demetrian.

well, the bindings drops for Baron Geddon and Gharr.. they are easy enough but the drop rate is low and you need a drop from both. You also need elementium ore for making this and they are easyest to optain after Broodlord(3 boss in BWL) and ofcurse the 100 arcanite bars that is worth like 3000g if you dont farm it urself:P

This sword is now officially a 1h wep woot...now we just have to wait for blizz to change it so it's nt unique and we can duel weild these things :D

The guild I run with has been doin MC for quite a while now, and we have never had either binding drop, and this is months and months of farming MC, we are pushing through BWL fairly easily and touching on AQ40. Still no bindings, gratz to everyone who has had the drop. I pray for just one of them at least to pop off Garr or Geddon while we are in there....is there really a set drop rate on these things? If so my guess is it's below 1%...

I know of a sword spec'd rogue who had the most dkp who got the bindings. He has been working on it almost non-stop for the last 6 months. He is close, but still needs more elementium.

I really want to see what his dps looks like after he gets it. Sinister Strike rogue with Thunderfury and what.... crusader enchant? Maybe Fiery?

Disgusting... but can't wait to see it.

I have a 60 warrior, i started as main tank, i tanked through mc. Earned my dark iron gear, i had top dkp for my guild, i had almost most earned too. The thought of Hand of Ragnaros and Thunderfury came to mind and we decided on 100 dkp per each. I said ok b/c i was a newb and had no idea about thunderfury, just that it was a legendary. The first binding dropped off of Geddon a couple weeks in. I took it with glee of course. Little did i know of the horrors i still had toface. Lets see i took a month break after that, came back to wow and still no binding had dropped while i was gone, and no left binding too this day. Wasted dkp, endless hours of farming, its a great pain and it will not be easy for any of you. 100 arcanite bars, 30 elemental flux, lots of luck, cores, and thousands of gold.
So just make one damn thing clear to yourself if you want a legendary such as this. Be prepared to wait, cause this sure as hell isn't no walk in the park type of drop as in other items that you will get off other bosses.

lawl, book one drops in MC off baron, tanks in the guild say they dont want it because they would never be able to farm the mats to create it...and they didn't like the odds on the drop of the second binding because some guilds go months and months w.o seeing a drop... sooo I say "if you all are going to quabble about them I'll say I want them" the tanks, guild leader, and officers agreed and the guilds first binding went to me, a rogue. next week in MC the second binding dropped.. auto looted to me since I already had the other half... the MT freaks out... I farm all teh mats required in about a day and a half, down rag the next day... it took me 18 days to craft my thunderfury from book 1 to the thunderaan kill. good luck to anyone working for this sword, maybe you'll get as lucky as I.

Considering the Burning Crusade, and all the items you can get on levels 60-70, is it REALLY worth the effort of geting? I mean, what's the point if you're going to get a better weapon in few levels?

umm... just for arguements sake mallet of the tides (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=30058/marra-de-las-mareas)is better. It replaced thunderfury on kungen (Nihilum MT). And he is argueably the best tank in WoW

Ok seriously guys....Of course it isnt worth going back into MC...the drop rates are wayyy too low. And after the xpac u can get weapons that are, Sorry guys...NOT better than this. This sword is STILl the best tanking sword, though they tried to nerf it of course. Cuz apparently doing all that hard work for more than a year to get a weapon that is "so OPd" isnt wat blizzard had in mind. This weapon is imo still the best weapon for a tank, mayb evn a rogue out there sololy on the proc...

This is pretty funny that you say that.
I JUST got back from a 5 hour raid where we cleared entire MC, downed rag, and then defeated Thunderuun. A friend at this LAN now has his Thunderfury!\
On the same run I had 5 pieces of Giantstalker drop for me, liek wtf XD I got from 1/8 to 6/8 pieces T1.. I <3 collecting old itemsets!

For those that are debating on this weapon. I'll help to clear up the confused players. Thunderfury is still the best tanking weapon for TPS- Threat Per Second. The chance on hit Makes it the best tanking weapon because of the massive TPS it creates insuring the tankings not going to lose agro when everyone lets loose on the boss. The only role of the MT is to hold argo and keep the boss focued only on him or her. Theres other weapons with more DPS and Stamina sure but tanks dont do damage so dps isnt a factor when TPS is whats needed. The small stamina on it wont matter if your tanks well geared and its' the healers job to keep him alive not the MTs.

Why this weapons still really effective post BC.

Warrior- The TPS for tanking is unbeatable the 20% slowing effect means no points are needed in imp thunderclap because 3 points in it only give a 22% slowing 2% more isnt worth 3 points in that. This is not a great weapon for dps warriors theres much better now for damage and some points in imp clap can be spared.

Paladin- The slowing effect is nice but not worth going after the long process for it as palys can have nice TPS with righteous fury on. Also if you have a paly as MT when they are really mana efficent healers smack your Guild Leader.

Hunters- Just shoot yourself in the face if your using this or want it.

Rogues- PvP only and thats only if your skilled enough to interchange weapons while fighting the slowing effect on your melee targets will help alot once its on them take if off and own with your higher dps weapons.

All and all long process for this and only worth it if your a MT and mainly only Warrior.

You start the quest from a drop off of one of 2 bosses in MC,
Bindings of the Windseeker(right or left bit I think).

Then,you go and buy a bunch of mats, turn em in, and down a raid boss called Prince Thunderaan (dont worry hes barely a raid boss, hes a total pushover).

Some people argue that weps in most other raids have better dps than thunderfury, but thunderfury isnt amazing because of the dps... its amazing because of the proc, this is the most unique proc in the game because it hits up to 5 targets with a debuff.

and im betting if your guild is runnin MC post-BC for something like this (id assume if you had a high 50 to lvl 60 to twink 60) theyd be willing to find a good MH wep for you in maybe BWL, AQ, ZG, or naxx if your lucky.

If you are asking where the coords to get this quest are then to bad i will just describe the location...First you must coat your entire body in Oil wearing only oxers (you hvae to do it in RL or it won't work) NEXT you go to the nearest large city in your area and run around and get the media's attenion than when asked why you did such a thing you say "I am a complete noob in WoW and had no idea the quest i am looking has no coords but actually comes from a drop in Molten Core that some guilds don't see for many months" and if you haven't figured out this quest comes from a drop then...
THIS QUEST COMES FROM A DROP! if you think it has coords your not gonna see the sword EVER in your inventory unless you have a priv. server...
I myself plan on farming for them on my DK whether i have to go solo or not i will be sure to get this weapon...not just for the achievemnt but for the fact that i don't think ANYONE on my server has completed the questline yet (Blade's Edge) i could be wrong ut even if i am i will still be one of few...i should start stocking up on Arcanite Bars now...

it is still obtainable. alot of people farms it on my server every1 wants a legendary. And as a bonus it can be used to tank hc's in lv 80 (had a real nice tank with it) he dindt loose agro + it looks great :)

This item like most pre-BC gear is now pretty much useless. It was the best back in the day though.

Anyone who says this weapon is just a novelty item has obviosly never played a tank or doesnt play one well. The threat generated from this weapon proc'ing is about 3 times the use of one sunder...and it procs alot. When the ability procs, the debuff is what jumps to mulitiple targets so cc is not broken. This weapon is still being used by lvl 70 tanks for threat generation alone. You dont need huge dps if your tanking...you just need to be able to hold aggro.

HOW TO OBTAIN Trueno Furioso, espada bendita del Hijo del Viento

Receive both Ataduras del Hijo del Viento (drop rate: 4,08%) from and Ataduras del Hijo del Viento (drop rate: 4,28%) from in Núcleo de Magma.
Visit in Silithus. He will give you Vasija de renacer to start the quest which leads to .
Kill for Esencia del Señor del Fuego (100% drop rate when you have the quest in your log).
Aquire 10x Barra de elementium.
Bring your guild and head back to . Turn in the quest and he will summon which will drop Hoja besada por el viento durmiente.
Complete and you're done!
