This letter gives you alot of XP a nice ring ( twinkiee ^^ ) and it isnt that hard, even level 16 people can do this qeust with a little help from higher people.

This chain has a few eerie (and completely coincidental) parallels to Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol. I say they are coincidental because Dan Brown's novel was written after the quest (late 2009).

The Lost Symbol is about the Masons (a secret society that had goals to improve the infrastructure of the United States).
An Unsent Letter is about the Stonemasons (a secret society that had plans to rebuild the city after the war).

The name of the antagonist in The Lost Symbol is Mal'ahk, although he has many other names.
The name of the assassin in An Unsent Letter is Marzon, aka Maelik.

In The Lost Symbol the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) becomes heavily involved in capturing Mal'ahk.
In An Unsent Letter the Stormwind Intelligence (SI:7) becomes heavily involved in capturing Maelik.

There are probably others, if you really want to stretch it, but these are the obvious ones.

1) I think he's brilliant (and not for the da'vinci code, but for Digital Fortress and Deception Point)

2) If the stonemasons weren't secretive, then why were the identities of the existing members secret and why did I have to keep my mouth shut for the entire quest?

3) I did not call him the 'antagonist', I called him the 'assassin'

4) This is just another parallel that adds to the others. Only pointing out interesting coincidences here, not trying to unmask some sort of conspiracy that would've required a time machine.

I got this quest when I was doing DM for the van cleef's head quest - when I searched his body I got the shirt and this letter instead of his head. So now I've got an extra quest and I'm going to have to do DM again :(

This quest is started after killing Edwin VanCleef in the Deadmines you have to right click the letter and read it. There seems to be a 33% chance he drops this letter. When opening the letter, you receive this quest.

Searching Edwin VanCleef's person, you discover, among other things, an unsent letter. It is adressed to Baros Alexston, the City Architect of Stormwind, City Hall, Cathedral Square.

It appears to be recently written and sealed.

So, it's back to Stormwind. Head to the Cathedral square and enter the City Hall there. He's located at Just follow the arrows in Stormwind to the Square and look for the City Hall banner.

The letter dropped for me everytime I've done VC on all my chars, unless I have the quest..

The letter always drops for anyone who needs it, which includes everyone who neither has the quest, nor has completed the quest.

Some people abandon one of the follow-up quests to make room in their quest log, only to forget later (especially on an alt). If you are sure you once picked up the letter but have neither it nor any quests in your log then check everyone in the quest chain, especially the warden in the Stockades. You will probably find a yellow "?" over one of their heads where you abandoned the quest.

Simple. Do VC, wen u kill Vancleef, he drops an unsend letter. It's addressed to Baros Alexston, the City Architext of Stormwind, City Hall, Cathedral. 4 does who ave coords, Baros Alexston is located at 49,30. Jus travel by griffy 2 Stormwind & go North of Trade District.

im a lvl 16 rouge twink and i have done all parts of this 12 part quest....get a high lvl friend to help so u can get seal of wrynn...................Alli rulez ....all parts of this quest are found on 1st

The letter drops every time..I don't know what people are saying about 1/3 of the time but I have many alts and the first time they killed him, they always got the letter.

This letter drop from VanCleef is only the first time you kill him. If you discard the letter, you are out of luck. He will not drop it for a char after the first time, this happened to a friend of mine, he discarded the letter and it never appeared for him again on that char.

I just solo'd DM 3 times to get this stupid letter! Then I realised I must've picked it up the first time without realising! It went into my pack in the slot where I normally keep my healing pots, nut I used my last one up on that run. They're were loads of people attacking and I needed VCs head, so I just looted midcombat incase I died! Anyway it did seem to drop first time for me!

Got a run through with friends, and got the letter and I'm not even 16 on the character we ran through, didn't do any of the Defias stuff before. So no pre-reqs to get the letter.

i forgot to pick up the letter from van cleef's body, hav i lost the chance to do the stockade riots, or do i hav to kill can cleef agian, or is there another way i can get this quest without doing deadmines agian?

Just finished this quest line and recorded the details. This is if you are shooting for the final quest reward of the "Seal of Wrynn"

1. the quest line starts with the letter that drops when you kill VanCleef, final boss in Deadmines. There are no pre-reqs, don't believe anyone who tells you different, but you must be lvl 16 to begin the quest from the letter. The first few quests in this "chain" are to get you to kill VanCleef, but it is not a true chain, as you can get the letter and start the real chain without doing any other quests.

2. So at 153 xp into lvl 16, I turned in the letter quest to Baros Alexston at the City Hall

3. Almost all the xp is straightforward quest xp. You do get a little from entering the Stockades to kill Bazil Thredd and a little from killing the 2 lvl 31 guys outside the library. since I had a 70 help with everything, the xp was lower, and since I had him clear Stockades all the way to Bazil before I entered, the Stockades kill xp was only 301.

4. When I ended the quest line, with the ring in hand i was at 14,275 xp, still on lvl 16 - but that is about 90% of a lvl it took to complete. You also get 1325 Stormwind reputation.

5. Have fun, and wear comfortable shoes, cause there is a good bit of running around Stormwind for this!

I just completed this quest without completing "The Defias Brotherhood" first. So technically there is no prereq for this quest.

Actually, oddly enough, this letter drops, even for horde. You cant accept the quest from the letter, "This quest is not available for your race" or something to that effect, but, if horde can get the quest starter, I would assume safely, there is no actual prereq for this quest.

Problem:

I had this letter once, from a Van Cleef drop, I got it with a group before I had the Defias quests. I read it, went to see Baros, he gave me a quest leading to the Stockades, which I declined (waaay too tough at the time). I must have destroyed the letter, because I cannot find it. Anyway, ten levels later I come back, solo the Deadmines, get VC's head, turn it in, and so "The Defias Brotherhood" is complete (it was grey by then), I get my rewards and Stoutmantle is happy. Great.

Now what? I have killed VC four times since then and the letter never, ever drops. Have I just screwed myself on the later quests (Unsent Letter and so on)? I hear there are no prereqs for the letter dropping... but if you had it and destroyed it, will that bug it?

To recap:

1. I was with a group in the DM BEFORE I had the VC head quest. The letter droppped, the head didn't.
2. I deleted the letter.
3. I eventually got the Defias quest, got VC's head, but the letter didn't drop again.
4. I turned in the head, but can't go on... since I don't have the letter.
5. I've gone back to the DMines, killed VC several times, no letter.

Help?

Just an FYI- it's not necessary to complete the Defias Brotherhood Questline in order to pick up the letter from VanCleef's body. In fact, I'm not even sure you have to even accept the first part... My lvl 13 pally (who I'm going to twink) got a run through, picked up the leter just fine, and has only completed the very first in the series on the Defias Brotherhood questline. You DO, however, have to be lvl 16 in order to right click the letter and accept the quest it gives you to further the Seal of Wrynn series. Like I said, just an FYI, especially for the would-be twinks out there.

This quest is unrelated to any other quests in Westfall. Killing Edwin Vancleef will cause this letter to drop and it starts a chain of quests that even has you going to the Stockades. At the end you get Seal of Wrynn which is a fantastic quest reward. It is an amazing item for 19 and 29 druids, hunters, paladins...almost any class can use this ring up to like lvl 40. Yes the quest chain is alliance only which is sad for shaman twinks.

This is the start of a rather long quest chain that ends with , rewarding Sello de Wrynn.

The ultimate reward for this quest chain is Sello de Wrynn, an incredible twinking or levelling ring. The entire chain rewards a ton of XP and has you visiting multiple instances and zones. Twinks would be best to commence this long chain as soon as is practicable, at level 16, and of course you'll need some buddies to carry yoU.

- a drop from in Las Minas de la Muerte, who might also drop Manteo de la Hermandad, Púa cruel or Armadura ennegrecida Defias if you are really lucky!
