Each cauldron will give you a 2 hour buff when you toss the Writhing Mass into it.

Blue: Attack Power
Green: Stamina
Dark: Spell Power

In order to complete this quest.

Head towards 49,33

Start off with right clicking the quest item, which allows you to farm the items,
that are needed for the quest.

Then you need to kill 10 of the "Cult of the Damned" people,
Who most likely will drop " " (100% drop rate)
And when you have them, you can turn them into a Writhing Mass.
Which you then throw into one of the cauldrons.

Note: if you want more than one buff, here's a trick:

Get 10 Essences.
Combine them to become a Writhing Mass.
Get 10 more Essences.
Throw your first Writing Mass into a cauldron.
Combine your other 10 Essences, then throw them into a cauldron.
Enjoy!

Chances are you're doing this daily in conjunction with Not a Bug, both of which you get from the airship and they're right next to each other. Make sure you do Not a Bug first and take a swig of your Tonic while doing that one as you will get the Tainted Essence off of those mobs. Then you'll only need a few more when you get to the area with the cauldrons.

The buffs you get do not stack with other similar buffs or scrolls.

The buff from the Mighty Alchemist's Stone overwrites the AP buff, since they both are +100 AP buffs. I guess the same happens with the other buffs and stones (stamina buff getting overwritten by the Indestructible stone and spell power buff by the Mercurial). Kinda makes sense, since these are alchemists' cauldrons, just like the stones.

Use your Diluted Cult Tonic so you will be able to get Tainted Essence, get 10 of them and right click on it, and put it on the cooking mix there..

Also I saw today that if you have the AP buff and it's still currently active and you throw another writhing mass into the cauldron it will not replenish your buff.
