As a balance druid I've had some trouble with this guy. Apparently the minions will hite for a ~120 with some juicy crits in there, only until they are affected by Demoralizing Roar will their damage drop to the single digits. There is a 5k starfire near the end. Don't get hit... I found out the hard way.

As a hybrid spec'd druid I absolutely needed a rogue friend's help with this part of the quest and the one following immediately after. Hawk's essence is much easier, but if you bring someone to throw dps and tank for you a little, its trivializes the fight.

folks, the quest is meant to be done in bear form! if you're trying to do that in moonking form or cat form you will be beaten up! Simply do it in bearform and you wont have any problems even with healgear or healspec!

the birds are only hitting you for 120 dmg if they DONT have the demoralizing roar debuff on them! with this debuff they hit for 5-8 *yawn*

Return to Morthis Whisperwing
Bring the relic back to Cenarion Refuge in Zangarmarsh.

To the Evergrove
Speak with Arthorn Windsong at the Evergrove in Blade's Edge Mountains. No Combat.

The Book of the Raven
Use an Aether Ray Eye (from killing Aether Rays) with a Seer's Stone (given by questgiver) to reveal the raven cult ghosts. Find Sai'kkal he Elder and question him about the book of the raven, then return. Minimal combat, extremely easy solo.

Eyes in the Sky
Speak with Watcher Elaira at the Twilight Ridge in Nagrand. No Combat.

To Catch a Sparrowhawk
Use the Sparrowhawk Net to capture Wild Sparrowhawk and bring back to Watcher Elaira. No Combat, extremely easy solo.

The Raven Stones
Gather 10 Raven Stones from Skettis and bring them to Arthorn Windsong at Evergrove. Summoned sparrowhawk uncovers the tablets, minimal combat from nearby creatures, extremely easy solo.

The Eagle's Essence
Defeat the Guardian of the Eagle and obtain the Essence of the Eagle. Meant to be done in bear form. Summons a continuous stream of bird adds that can be ignored. Dropped a 5k+ starfire just before dying, can be done solo.

The Falcon's Essence
Defeat the Guardian of the Falcon and obtain the Essence of the Falcon. Meant to be done in cat form. DPS race, has a huge knockback, can be done solo.

The Hawk's Essence
Defeat the Guardian of the Hawk and bring the Essence of the Hawk to Arthorn Windsong. Meant to be done in caster/boomkin form. Root and nuke.

Upon completion, receive:

Equip: Increases speed in Flight Form and Swift Flight Form by 10%

Return to Cenarion Refuge
Bring Arthorn's package to Morthis Whisperwing in Cenarion Refuge.

Chasing the Moonstone
Return with a Southfury Moonstone found only at the cliffs in northwestern Azshara. Touching the moonstone altar spawns a goblin Rizzle Sprysprocket who flees down the river with your moonstone. You need to catch her by using aquatic form to race down the river avoiding the depth charges she leaves behind. No combat, extremely easy solo.

Vanquish the Raven God
Slay the Raven God and return to Morthis Whisperwing. Found in the chamber before the talon kings hall in Sethekk Halls Heroic.

Upon Completion receive:
Swift Flight Form
215 mana
Instant Cast

Idol of the Raven Goddess
Binds when picked up
Unique
Relic Idol
Equip: Increases the healing granted by the Tree of Life form aura by 20, adds 9 critical strike rating to the Leader of the Pack aura, and adds 9 spell critical strike rating to the Moonkin form aura.

For those trying this -- this is bad advice. Based on my experience, you can NOT do this quest resto-speced in healer gear. I was demo roaring every time it was up, but you still are going to take a few 200-ish hits as the adds come in and you're not going to be doing enough damage to the boss to outrace the incoming damage, even with a frenzied regeneration. And if you fail, yes you have to spirit rez.

If you're a resto druid, I strongly advise bringing a friend.

I'm feral, and after reading the posts here i wanted to be on the safe side. Spirit ress really wasn't appealing :p So i did him in full tanking gear so if i failed interupting the starfire i would have the hp to survive.

Well, it was pretty much a joke. He was dead when i had 95% hp left and he never used starfire. I can't talk for the other speccs out there, but ferals don't worry about the posts here. He's as easy as any mob out there.

I had to get a friend to help as a balance druid in my tank gear, not quite enough damage output to take him down before I died.

Then today I was browsing through wowhead deciding on elixirs for playing around, and found Earthen Elixir (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=32063). I wish I could go back and try it out, I think it would have solved my problems, since the little birds would then be doing no damage at all after a demo roar in theory. Maybe someone could try it out.

This is absolute BS. You can't do this in caster gear. You need to have a feral set or you take way too much damage and do far too little dmg to the mob. Even with demo roar on I was taking 25 dmg per bird per hit and that was with a couple pieces of bear gear I had in the bank. If you don't have bear gear you will need to bring a tank for this.

This happens to be really, really easy for a feral druid in tank gear. At ~25k armor and 450 defense, I barely took much damage until the end. He summons adds almost every 2-3 seconds, but you are generating more than enough rage to demo roar almost every time. The attacks from the adds, after a demo roar, are between 1-5 white damage (not kidding). Your mangle and maul will do serious damage to the Arakkoa mob you are fighting. Also - I wasn't able to notice him casting Starfire, but was betting on the fact I had enough health to absorb it. I was right! His Starfire hit me for 5493 and a quick mangle and maim later, he was dead.

this quest is super easy as a resto druid. just stand back and let him tank and damage EVERYTHING. once theyre on him they wont get off him so just throw him rejuv's and lifeblooms and MAYBE a swiftmend once in awhile and you'll be fine. it's not difficult at all.

I solo'd this as a balance druid using only my casting gear (2105 armor before bear) and the Terestrian's Stranglestaff, or whatever the octopus staff is called. Drop your treants on the guy when the fight starts then go bear form and spam demoralizing roar while auto attacking. Downed him easy and with 60% health left over.

If you are Alliance, you may not want to just fly to Allerian Stronghold and rush to the location given above. I did that (yeah, I was in a hurry and got stupid) and got nuked by one of the flying Horde NPC's and fell to my death.

After a short series of releasing and running, I found the statue, but at a different set of coordinates. My suggestion (if you are Alliance) is to start at 44, 45 and head due East to 46, 45 (which is the actual location of the Statue). Oh, and don't forget to go AROUND the Horde town or atleast fly high enough not to get agro.

I did this in cat form with crappy gear. I summoned the guy and immediately shifted into cat form and stealthed. It took a few seconds before it let me attack him while he was spurting off at the mouth telling me what a bad kitty I was, but I didn't mind the brief wait as it allowed my energy to go to full before entering combat.

As soon as I could attack him, I Pounce'd and Faerie Fire'd him. From there I just Mangle'd and Ferocious Bite'd him to death. When he died, his two adds that he had summoned, depsawned. I was still at 60% health when he died and I ignored the adds during the fight. I have no doubt that he would have summoned more than two had the fight lasted longer.

Easily doable after 2.3 patch as resto druid with green\blue feral gear. The Natural Perfection buff will stay on you all fight reducing incoming damage by 15%. If you're in trouble, just shift out using Barkskin and NS+heal yourself.

I'd have to disagree with the above...as a resto druid, I found these quests very difficult even though my feral dps gear (for the spirit that you get told to use cat for) is almost all epics and my tanking gear is blues and several epics. Admittedly, I tried doing the eagle spirit in feral dps gear first (stupid maybe, but it worked well enough to tank Terokk as resto for some guildies cause my tanking gear is normally in the bank when I'm resto), but dying and having to spirit rezz twice is nonetheless annoying.
The third time, in my tanking gear, I very barely managed to kill him. Of course, knowing to use demo roar, and knowing to save up bash for when he casts starfire helps, but it was still a very close call.
The next spirit, the one you fight in cat form, killed me as well, at which point a mage from my guild jumped in to help.
Bottom line is, despite the above comment I'd say you'Re pretty boned on these as resto, either respec or get a friend.

Made a quick account and comment just to say - As a level 70 Boomkin with no tanking gear this was really quite easy. My gear isn't the best stuff, and I managed it fairly well.

Start fight in caster, use treants, go into bear, demo roar. Bash - Wrath - Warstomp - Wrath.

Ended fight with ~6k HP (Out of 10k)

Soloed this as resto druid with some tanking gear. It can be done, just spam demoralizing roar and stun/maul the guy. If you're running low, then barkskin and regrowth and stack some lifeblooms then go right back to it.

As a Resto Druid, this was a very annoying quest. You cannot solo it just by going into Bear Form with your regular healing gear. You'll take too much damage, barely output any, and will be Rage-starved so you won't be able to keep Demoralizing Roar up. In Kara epics, that was a 12g spirit rez.

The second time, I prepared more thoroughly. I gulped an Earthen Elixir and an Elixir of Major Agility, and put on Feral gear. Make sure you stack decent +hit because the mob is level 71, and missing Bash can spell your doom.

The fight is fairly straightforward from then on. Spawn the mob, auto-attack it, and make sure you have enough Rage to use Demoralizing Roar every time a new bird spawns: with the Earthen Elixir, this will reduce their attack to single-digit damage. If you have extra Rage, feel free to Maul, but it's not necessary. When I got low on health, I used Barksin, Regrowth, Rejuvenation, Swiftmend, Rejuvenation, and stacked three Lifeblooms on myself to continue the fight. With the Feral gear, however, it barely kept me up... Had to pop Frenzied Regeneration near the end.

When the quest mob is down a good chunk of health (to about 30% maybe?) he will start casting Starfire. It's a long cast, so watch for it and Bash. If you don't (or miss your Bash), you better have over 5,000 health remaining. Good luck. :)

FYI - I play a balance druid and didn't have much experience playing feral past level 40 - all the information above is dead on - I was just having trouble killing him once he got down to 20% (after my trees expired). It finally occurred to me that if I'm spamming roar, I'm not attacking much. I beat him by alternating lacerate and roar and had 40% health left in the end.

Gear - Balance quest rewards, with the exception of a feral staff quest reward and the 3 clefthoof leather pieces I had crafted (no gems).

This is very easy for balance druid if you have good gear.
Just use treants right when he is attackable, and pop barkskin when he's at 75 % or so.

3/10/08-This must have been nerfed or its that im feral, because everyones comments had me a little nervous. Owned his face in 1 min., blew my bash prematurely but a huge mangle crit ended him so i never even saw the starfire and still had 10k health. -cords are correct, advice is sound, but, it is a yellow quest for a reason.=)~

Feral druid. No problems at all. Just dropped a regrowth (that I probably didn't need) keep demo roar up on the adds, and bashed his Starfire.

I'm not sure if this has been changed in the last patch, but I tried this as a balance druid a couple of times and have had some trouble.

In just-gone-70 Balance gear with about 600 spelldamage, 7.5k health and 8k armour he absolutely murdered me. So I went bear, using mostly tanking quest gear with a few bought blues and PvP bits thrown in, and ended up with:

18.8k armour
9200 health
360 defense
16% dodge and about 20 res

With demo roar up continuously *and* an Earthen Elixir, they were hitting me for about 25, I'd accumulated a pretty big flock and had to use Frenzied Regen when he was about halfway down. That got me to the starfire, but I didn't manage to interrupt it, and he got me... b'stad. Even if I had interrupted it I wasn't doing enough damage to take him down anyway.

So in the end i respec'ed Feral for this one, and he went down easy after that... Imp Demo Roar plus Earthen Elixir brought the guardian birds down to 1 damage per hit, Bash took care of the Starfire but I'd Frenzied before that and would have been able to take it. Same gear, but about 2k more health, 1.5k more armour and a lot more AP, and using Mangle + Lacerate alternating with Demo Roar to take him down much quicker.

So, I just did this as a PvP resto druid, 8/11/42 specced... Took on my tanking gear and this quest was really easy - without Frenzied Regeneration I came out of this fight with 70% health left and really no issue at all killing the mob

My tanking gear, with resto spec in bear form holds:

12.7k health
21952 Armor
24.28% dodge
421 Defense

mainly epic tanking gear, but some blues still on it - worked like a charm on this one :)

Well, THAT went poorly. I almost had his ass, but am balance specc'ed (no special tank gear, though I got a Feral Warp-staff of The Beast for just this quest) and not used to these fangled feral skills, ended up getting confused and panicked. Now for a ten minute bout alt-tabbing, then I should be able to take him down no problem.
8300 HP, 8200 armor in bear.

Moonfire, bugs, treants, bear, spam demoroar, have bash ready to go. I also have a Super Healing Potion on deck, though I imagine that if it comes to that, I'm prolly screwed anyways.

Be advised, barkskin takes you out of bear form.

Yeah. Piece of cake. Still had 2500~ hp left when he dropped, didn't even need frenzied regen.

I was a bit worried about doing this as a resto druid, but fortunately I had a decent feral DPS set from level 69. I bought an Earthen Elixir and an Elixir of Major Agility, fished up a couple Furious Crawdad at Lake Ere'Noru and cooked them into Spicy Crawdad for the stamina buff.

With the three extra buffs I did fine as a resto druid in decent sub-70 DPS gear. Just made sure to spam demoralizing roar whenever a new bird showed up, which was almost constantly, and after I built up a little extra rage I used frenzied regeneration as I was a little lower in health than the arrakoa.

The actual dude is quite easy to kill, but you definitely need to be in bear form spamming demoralizing roar to avoid being killed by the 20-something birds that spawn over the course of the fight. Although it might be possible to try to kill him really fast before lots of birds spawn, but it's really not very tough with the extra elixir buffs in bear form, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Ugh. I respec'ed to Feral specifically for this quest as it was the only way I had a chance alone. I took the elixirs recommended above and just spammed demo roar. Make sure you bash the jerk when he starts to cast starfire and make sure you case frenzied regen when you start to get down in health. I killed him with 8% HP left but had a potion handy which I did not use.

It IT doable in a cat form. I have a non-heroic dungeons gear (almost 8k HP) and still managed to kill him. What's more I had about 30% HP left when he was down! You just have to nuke him as hard as you can, meaning use any trinkets or elixirs you have and you should be fine.

Yeah I was reading all the comments honestly expecting a 70 or 71 elite and a tough fight, I made sure I had pots, got food buffed, etc. And then I summon the dude and he's a regular 71 mob. And he died like a regular 71 mob. I never left cat form, he never hit me for 5k, in fact I don't think he ever hit me for more than a few hundred. Maybe he's been nerfed since all the scary comments were written, but for anyone doing this quest chain now, at least this part is nothing special at all. Just kill him.

I opened up with pounce on kitty form and dpsed until energy was low.

I dotted and went bear form. Demoed twice (2 adds showed up) and he was down without starfire. His HP was going down so fast, I used bash on one of his wrath instead for fun.

I was feral, but I was in mainly quest greens + weapon reward from ring of blood and few instance rares from pre 70s. It was literally done the minute the druid hit 70 (and main mailed him 5k gold ofc).

Wasnt as hard as I was anticipating at all.

Oh man, okay. To inject some sanity into this discussion, since some of the foregoing comments about the difficulty are ridiculous:

THIS IS NOT HARD AT ALL.

I leveled resto with a feral subspec. I have a fairly good feral set that's mostly rep/quest rewards with a crafted piece and a single piece of rogue leather from Kara. My feral talents are 5/5 Ferocity, 2/2 Brutal Impact, 3/3 Thick Hide, and Feral Charge. I used exactly one non-self buff to do this--the +30 stamina from Fisherman's Feast--and I don't think I needed it. My buffed HP in bear with it is ~9.4k, so I'm definitely not tank material. ~10k armor as well.

He never cast Starfire. I wasn't dying because I missed the occasional Demo. Roar when an add came in. I did have Bash waiting in case he DID decide to hit me with Starfire, but it was unnecessary, and he went down fast enough to make it trivial.

Beating him is this easy:

1. Shift into bear right after you summon him.
2. Enrage while he talks, so you have full rage and no armor debuff when combat starts.
3. Demo. Roar.
4. Stack Lacerate.
5. Demo. Roar.
6. Stack Lacerate.
...
7. Profit!

If you leveled resto with a balance subspec or straight-up balance, don't respec to feral. Just collect a few pieces of decent feral leather, slap them on, and go run around in bear form until you have an idea of how it works. The killer here is not the difficulty of the quest; it's not knowing how best to use your resources in a feral form.

You guys are silly.

It's just a gimmick kill, he summons a ton of adds that will most likely kill you BUT they do 1 (ONE) damage if they have demo roar on, IN ANY FORM.

You can kill him as any spec he hits for 200 damage and so do his adds all you do is every few adds you go bear form and toss out a demoroar so the new adds start doing 1 damage.

I rarely go bear form being resto, and found this tough because I couldn't do enough damage to kill him before I died.

I would advise looking at your bear abilities and using them to best effect. Learn what the buttons look like and what they do. I didn't really know what I was doing in bear form and died.

I grabbed a Fury warrior friend for this. I was worried because I thought I'd have to heal him a ton, but he took the boss down in roughly 15 seconds... Barely any birds spawned, went down easy.

Basically it amounts to this:

If you're DPS specced, this is very easy.
If you're resto specced, this is incredibly difficult and you will likely need help.

Well... actually he doesnt seem so hard at the begging but damn these adds are so many! I have a resto pve gear and only 2 pieces of s3 and 1 s4. I didnt expect him to be so hard.After the first try he got down couldnt be easier just spamed the demo shout ( you will have plenty of rage dont worry .... like 30 mobs hitting you or maybe more for 6-7 dmg ) and their dmg decreased by 3. Yea it's not big deal just keep those tips in my otherwise... ress sick is coming for ya

I just did this with another Feral... After I summoned him we switched to cat and started the fight stealthed... as soon as I could I pounded and we started shredding, he was dead before pounce wore off.

Moral Kill him quick enough... and you don't even need bear.

Just Soloed it as a Balance druid. All you have to do is DoT him up with your Moonfire, and Insect Swarm, then summon your trents on him and just run around casting moonfire, and when you get the Nature's Grace Buff, just cast a quick Wrath to finish him off. Its really easy, no need to switch to bear form for the adds.

I just did this today. As a balance druid with stats 985 spell damage, 20% crit, 352 res, 11k HP. I took 6373 damage in the 31 second fight. IS, MF, treants, spam wrath until MoE procs then BS, SF, and finish him off. He died before my treants did.

Wow... tried this with my normal 34/0/27 restokin spec, wearing my feral gear, got owned hard. Respeced feral, finished with 95% health, using no heals/potions/elixirs, and only using mangle when it was up, otherwise spamming demo roar, and bashing when he did the starfire.

I recomend you respec to feral for these quests if you don't have uber gear, the third boss is easy with feral spec (with resto/balance gear).

With the new abilities in 3.0.1, he's pretty easy feral DPS spec in cat form. Dropped in about 10 or 15 seconds maybe. Enough time for only 2 birds to spawn. My previous try in bear form didn't go well though. This was in 3 piece rep vendor PvP gear and green "of the bandit" gear.

Gave me some trouble as balance spec, even when wearing my old feral gear from 69. I wound up having to take the suggested path of drinking an Earthen Elixir and Elixir of Greater Agility. I also brought along some Fel Blossom, which helped keep things off me for a good while, as it takes time for them to eat through the ~1000 damage shield.

Aside from that, I popped Frenzied Regeneration about half way through the battle, drank one Major Healing Potion, and also popped my Lifeblood Herbalism talent for a little more health.

Came out of the fight with about 15% of my life left. Hurt, and I'd died three times prior trying other methods, but this seems to be the way to go if you're not Feral and don't have anyone to help you out.

Because I wasn't intimately familiar with feral talents, I decided to try it as a boomkin post 3.0.2 with quest blues, random non-PvP epics and quest greens. A real frankenset. Easy as balance - without any shifting or healing. Just a couple key points:

- Put on all the + spell power and stamina stuff you have. Sacrifice your regen for pure damage. You have to burn him before your treants expire and/or he gets to Starfire. If either happens without you shifting out, it's almost certainly game over.
- When summoning the eagle, the avatar will appear and show a red nameplate, but cannot be attacked. I wasted a precious few seconds of barkskin because I hit the button right after he popped. Wait until he becomes attackable before shielding yourself.
- Barkskin, moonfire, treants, then hurricane. You can add a Starfall and Typhoon in there if you'd like, but for my particular encounter, I think it was overkill.
- Bring along a Super Healing Potion, just in case. I used a random BG-acquired healthstone near the end (at around 1/3 health left) only to find that he died a couple seconds later. Ah well. Better safe than sorry.

Absolutely NO problem as a full Balance druid today (Nov 5 -08). I wore a mix of gear and landed at 9000 hp and 952 sp - and I stayed in Moonkin form.

I was a bit worried after comments above, but with treants, starfall and a typhoon for good meassure he died in 15 seconds - and got me to about 98% health. >.< The treants just tear him up.

Just soloed post 3.03 as a Boomkin in a mix of quest blues and t4. Easy to do just do the following:

(1) Throw your treants on him, and ignore all adds, then just nuke him with MF + SF + Wrath until dead.

(2) Loot.

Note: Not sure if they nerfed it or not, but it was surprisingly easy.

I tried twice and failed as a Resto/Bal non Tree w/not so good gear. I just couldn't dps him down fast enough before I was overwhelmed by birds. I pre-healed, roared after each add, popped barkskin, frenzied regen, a pot, NS, SM, lifeblood and still just missed. Maybe if I hadn't vendored all my feral gear IOT put me over the 5K gold mark, I might have made it. Once I got a guildy to help, the 3 Essence quests were stupid easy.

they must have nerfed this, because I just did it as a 70 balance druid in mostly 70-pre70 greens. dropped treants right as he became attackable, insect swarmed him, moonfired him, and dropped a starfall. Then popped barkskin and started a cyclone, but he was dead almost as soon as my cyclone started... about 550 SP and 6600 HP, and he barely touched me. I did drop a regrowth before the fight, but i dont even think i needed that.

As of 3.03 this guy is absolute cake for an 80.

As a Boomkin. I just used moonfire opener and popped barskin, treants and hurricane. End of fight.

I also received the full gold reward, because I am 80 (Although it was only 13g23s, and not 17g60s as stated above)

Adds that spawn are Anzuli Hatchling with 3380 HP.

Done in Moonkin form, Guardian of the Eagle have 11488 HP, so he dies prety fast with all the WotLK tallents.

Started with precast Regrowth, then Moonfire, Insect Swarm, Barkskin, 3 Treants, and then Hurricane. Even didn't get time to use Typhon and Starfall, as he was already dead. It's better to just kill fast with single target spells, as adds will despawn.

My gear - some lvl 60 epics, some blue quest revards from Outlands, and some Northrend blues bought in AH. My HP 8800 with +40 stam food, spell power 670.

As of WotLK, all of these quests can be soloed at lvl 80, regardless of spec and very minorly of gear.

I'm full spec resto, nailed the bear-boss easily with wraths, barkskin, and bash to intercept the Starfire.

Wrathed down the second guy; all attacks missed me cause of lvl, so they should miss you too.

Rooted and Starfired third guy. I was critting for 23k, which is about 4x the amount I normaly do. No worries, his 50k goes down easier than 1k.

So all this talk about bringing a friend and speccing properly and strategy is basically out of date at lvl 80. Have fun soloing

A bit of warning: As of patch 3.2, you can TECHNICALLY get to this quest at level 60... as the entire chain has no level requirement, but simply requires you to have riding 300 (which is now obtainable at level 60 if you have the gold for it). However, the mobs in the quest line have not changed, they're still level 70-71 and a level 60 would get flattened in seconds by these guys (don't care how tough you think you are, there's no gear in the game that lets you survive being hit by a mob 11 levels higher). Even with level 70-80 friends along, you still have to watch for level aggro...

This has been nerfed into oblivion. I completed this as level 70 balance in outland quest gear.
The NPC did not even attempt to cast starfire as I killed him with 2 starfire crits of about 50% total health.

I just did this quest with my balance druid at 70. I do tend to baby my toons with gear and chants.. sooo I had almost 1k spell power going in. I threw on faerie fire, swarm, moonfire, summoned trees and wrathed him to death b4 he even got starfire off. Was quite easy compared to all the hoopla mentioned here in the forums. I didn't even get to 80% hp..

Aye, very easy currently. Balance/resto, in largely cloth gear. Figured my boomkin form would protect me as well as the bearform recommended, no dice. Took the Rez sickness and tried again. While still under the effects of rez sickness, summoned him, popped trees, insects, then geared to bearform... Oops, hadn't even trained feral talents. No worries. Adds disappear when he dies, and with trees up and a very concerned druid auto-attacking, that didn't take long.

TL;DR Trees+Barkskin=win. No stress.

As an 80 Balance druid (boomkin), these three 'essence' quests are easy and simple.

1. Fly to the statue using the coords from the maps on Wowhead (there are many coord display plugins out there!).

Ideally you want to do this questline around 60 to 70 with a party, or at least a tank and healer, but if you wait til 80 like I did, its pretty simple:

IS+FoN+Starfall+SF+WRx6=dead bird.

For lower levels, I recommend you have a ret pally tank him, a shaman to heal and drop totems, and you stand back and wrath/starfire as you can.

The mobs have a medium high amount of health (around 50k when I went).

Read previous posts and with reasonable gear: 22k Armour, 13k h.p and 456 defence he got me down to half way before I finished him off. I forgot about the starfire but keep the lacerates and roars going and you should be fine (the adds look worse than they are!)

buffed up fully as a moonkin few scrolls etc, got to about 8.5khp's. summoned
the mob. Pulled out treants and netherwing ally, didnt worry about ads they disappear when u kill the main mob. They got me to 28% health before he died. no heals or potions, used barkskin to chain cast wrath. I hit normally for about 1k with wrath thou.

This should show a prerequisite quest. This quest wouldn't open up for me either but when I went to Moonglade for a respec I found a quest at the trainer which eventually led me here and to this one.
You do still have to have epic flight training. I did once I got this started, but also had troubles getting quests from Arthorn until i was sent to him by prior quests in the chain.

I stayed in cat gear.
Summoned, immediately shift to cat, stealth.... you have time for energy to build up.
I pounced, moved behind, mangle, shred.

My build is a early-ish 70 - 2279ap 30.75%crit 3464armor in cat; I ignored the adds and the mob only got me to 6500 out of 8400.

I'm a feral druid with 21k armor and 12300 HP. I had the guardian down to 6% when he Starfired me for 4k and I died. I agree with the previous post, DO NOT DIE! There is no option at this point but to spirit res, damn you Blizzard.

Location of the Shrine is 46,45 (above Stonebreaker Hold).

BTW, I went back a second time and bashed him before he could get the starfire off and once he died all of the spawns died as well, so it is critical that you interrupt the starfire.

To get this quest, you must first pay for your Epic Flight Training (get up to riding skill 300), then get the quest, Morthis Whisperwing from Loganaar in Moonglade. This will set you down the correct path to get your epic flight form. Good Luck!

I'm a full resto specced raid druid, and I tried this quest yesterday in bear form wearing my regular cat dps gear I had on hand (slightly over 10k armor). Using demoralizing roar, maul, and lacerate I only got the Guardian a little below half life before the constant stream of bird adds took me down. Possibly if buffed with fort and stam food and in my more defense/armor heavy tanking gear I could win, but I don't think I want to try it alone because if you die, there is no way for your spirit to get back to your body. I had to fly to this ledge to get there, and I spent 20 minutes trying to get my spirit back up there before i conceded to spirit rez and take a heavy penalty. Even though this quest doesnt recommend a group, next time I'm bringing a guildy to help dps or heal. Hopefully the bird adds despawn when the Guardian dies. I read on a forum that he dropped a 5k+ starfire before dying, which is kind of insane. I hope the next two quests where cat and balance combat are respectively suggested are not as difficult when specced as a healbot. Too bad I don't know any other druids on my new server (Ysera) who were crazy enough to spend the 5000g! So does anyone have soloing tips?

Either this quest is bugged or has been made way harder. I've got about 28k armor and 15k hp. He instantly summons about 10 adds which hit me for about 100 each, but for some reason I generate almost no rage at all. Without rage, I basically can't get the boss down even 25%.

Edit: Heh, I just put on all my dps gear and killed him in cat form. I guess it doesn't matter how you get it done.

Just remember to bash him when he starts to cast star fire, it hurts a bit but other than that he's easy... If your having trouble building rage, just try swiping a few times and try and get some crits...

Being feral, I used what little tanking gear I have (Heavy Clefthoof set, and 2 rings, 13129 hp and 15576 armor). Killed him 1st try, no problem. Just concetrate on the one guy and screw the adds. I never healed or came out of bear and still had plenty of hp left. No real strategy involved. Location is 46, 45.

This quest is actually pretty easy. The sooner the boss dies, the less adds there are. He spawns one about every two seconds. I have extremely bad gear, about 10kish health in bear and 7-8k armor, so don't think you can't do it because of gear. It's 100% about burning the boss.

The boss does wrath fairly often, hits for about 500. With my armor the adds hit me for 185ish each. Save your bash for starfire, don't bother using it on wrath. Mangle every cooldown, get a 5stack of lacerate asap and then refresh it when it's getting low. Once the 5stack is up, make sure you have enough rage to mangle after maul and then use maul, making sure you'll always have enough to mangle afterwards.

46, 45 confirmed coords.

Edit: DO NOT LEAVE TERROKAR FOREST UNTIL YOU USE THE WHISTLE! (I did, flew all the way to Blade's Edge only to fly back)

I did this as a Resto druid, in my full tank gear (17k armor, 9k health), with some challenge.

I just Demo'd the oncoming birds and lacerated the boss basically. Once I popped out and instantly HT'd myself then added barksink, HoTs, and back to bear. Oh, stunned that starfire, too.

Be sure to heal early if you are going to because of all the adds.

I'm a lvl 70 druid, I spoke to Arthorn Windsong but she doesn't have a quest for me. Do I have to have a certain level of rep with Cenarian Expedition? Or do I have to have my epic flyer?

Or does something drop off a mob first that tells you to go talk to her?

Annoying.. Following a lot of the advice given here, but died 2x now. Have 90% Kara Feral Epics on. I don't mind the challenge in killing him, that's fine. My complaint is having to use the spirit healer to res, 10 min cooldown and incurring all that repair bill. That seems quite unnecessary and over the top for a fail punishment. As if the runback, if there even was one, wasn't punish enough and the normal Durability loss. But to use a SH and take extra 25%... come onnnn... 47G Repairs, 2 deaths. that a LOT of gold in TBC for 1 quest.

1. Miniwing's First Take on the Profane Text Which Cenarion Druids have Uncovered:

All you need to do to get to this quest is to talk to Arthorn over at Evergrove in Blade's Edge Mountains to get your Cenarion Sparrowhawk Whistle. Of course you have to get into the story that starts at Zangar, but anyway, Arthorn's part is basically to try to assist Morthis in Zangar. She needs you to uncover why there are Raven-worshipping Arakkoa in BEM who are trying to infiltrate into the Emerald Dream and why the old school Druids are forced to hold the Emerald Dream together to fight a Raven presence, when they really only wanted to fall into the dream. Now the Druid of the Talons have to cleanse the dream and they can't both dream and fight and help you with the relics you need to fly.

The only Raven workshippers you can find who might be try to hurt the Emerald Dream would be these jerks over in Blade's Edge Mountains to the west in the Vortex Pinnacle. Those jerks propped up a Raven as a god and now they're trying to destroy the happy qualities of the Emerald Dream. The Raven lovers want to turn the Emerald Dream into Walmart or some hell hole. Not even other Arakkoa like these Raven worshippers. In fact, the Skettis Arakkoa have literally taken the Raven worshippers' sacred text and torn it up into 8 pieces and buried it. Only a Cenarion Sparrowhawk can see where the 8 portions of the profane text are buried. Thankfully, the Cenarion Circle and its Whistle will save the day. What nonsense does the Raven worshippers' text contain? Find out in Skettis and tune in to see if it's possible that I might ever get swift flight form, once Morthis is OK with me not getting fried by Raven worshipping nut jobs.

Oh hooray, it's finally starting to make sense. See my comments in the quest chain prior to this quest. I'm rooting for Arthorn Windsong of Evergrove to be good friends with Morthis the druid with the key to fast flying at this point. She's been working nonstop to try to figure out the mystery of the hidden Raven worshippers holy text, and find out what it was in that text that offended the Arakkoa of Skettis so much that they ripped the scripture into 8 pieces and buried it. So well buried that only the sharpest of eyes could locate the eight parts of the holy text. But why, what was in that holy text that gave the Skettis Arakkoa the desire to literally make it go away? It must be so heretical as to be offensive and detrimental to all Arakkoa good guys. Time to locate the bizarre and unbelievable garbage of the Raven Arakkoa and find out why the Skettis Arakkoa want it hidden. Is it that bad?

Using the sparrowhawk in Skettis, you uncover all eight parts of the profane scripture and you need Arthorn to look at it and explain how it connects to the worship of the Raven god, and why it is able to unravel the Emerald Dream. This is what Arthorn tells you when you bring the eight disjointed parts of the heretical scripture:

"It would have taken years to find the Book of the Raven without you, young sparrowhawk. Return to your home in Nagrand with our gratitude.
"This is it! This is really it-- the Book of the Raven! It's all here--how the Raven's followers captured and subdued the spirits of its rivals, trapping them forever within stone statues! The tablets even mention the raven god's name--Anzu. I'd thought it was lost to history!
"There's something else here too. After a description of a bloody battle and the downfall of the raven, there's a prophecy Anzu will haunt the dream of his enemies, twisting them to effect a return to this world...
"The tablet has the confirmation we need, just as I thought. Now we have to use this information to draw out and defeat this Anzu before he can do any more damage to the Emerald Dream!
"Since the sparrowhawks have proven such a success in hunting down the raven stones, Watcher Elaira has trained another one to relay my voice at a great distance. He can help us communicate as you investigate the bird spirits revealed in the tablet!"

Oops, it looks as though Anzu, the defeated Raven god, somehow exists with the ability to subdue its rival spirits and literally encase them in stone. The first rival is the Spirit of the Eagle. Guarding the spirit is some sort of twisted Eagle Spirit guardian. The Eagle Spirit guardian is a bad guy whose job is basically to jail the spirit of the Eagle. If the Eagle were unfortunately released someone who read the heresy of the Book of the Raven, like perhaps a druid seeking flight form, that druid such as myself could turn back into the world the Spirit of the Eagle to essentially get even Anzu, who caused their downfall and imprisonment.

Though Anzu himself may be gone, his followers have twisted his rivals into stone to keep them from revenge upon Anzu. I wonder if the former rivals (encased in stone) are going to wreak havoc on the Emerald Dream, now being twisted and vengeful? Can these spirits try to stop me from getting my epic flight form? Or will they be incarnated somehow by a druid uncovering the secret relics given to me by the Moonglade dreamer, Clintar and his spirit.

If only there was a way to stop the Eagle rivals of Anzu from revenge upon the living, and maybe instead enlist them to help me kick his Raven ass in Sethekk Halls! Because Anzu ain't gonna be happy with ever seeing their faces again, especially with me getting help from them to kick his ass so I can use the relics necessary to learn epic flying form. The worst thing for Anzu is for me and his rivals to appear in the Emerald Dream with a cool ass sweet flying form so fast that I would be an Emerald Dream defender and I would kick Anzu and his Raven worshippers' asses back into Silithus so fast you'd think you teleported through a mage portal.

Arthorn sent me here to revive the Eagle spirit trapped within a stone, and I saw it for the first time on a hill near Stonebreaker Hold high up into a hidden mountain. The stone is unmistakable, it is a sculpture of an owl with green eyes. It could be wood, but it must be marble because it is over one thousand years old. There is no guardian here, only the huge statue of the owl. I touch it and look around. There is nothing there... until from hiding, I see Anzu's priest guarding the owl statue! Could it be the same stone where Anzu imprisoned its Eagle rival over a millenia before?

Without haste, the guardian wants to kill me, and I engage it in combat. Looking around and taking in my surroundings, I do not use my best spells, but merely cast a swarm of bees and one blast of moonlight on the guardian. Looking around, I see them: the Eagle guardian has summoned Anzuli hatchlings to hasten his efforts to kill me. Without thinking, I surround the Eagle guardian and his minions of death, the Anzuli hatchlings, with a hurricane so vast and so horrific that the Eagle Guardian and his hatchlings return to the nether, defeated. There is no more Eagle spirit in the statue. I have it in my hand, and Anzu's power is now diminished; that power is now mine.

I call Arthorn's Sparrowhawk to give her the good news: hers and Timeon's research has paid off. The book is not a secret any longer to the Cenarion Circle. We must read the heresy to learn what it is that Anzu does not want us to know in order to stomp out the Raven spirit seeking to give the dreamer the nightmare all dreamers are fighting from. If I can kill the Raven to save the Emerald Dream, I must. But first, I must free the Falcon spirit to help us create our army against Anzu. That is more important right now than the ancient relics guarded by the keepers of the Emerald Dream; they must be safe for future generations.
