Sharpening stones do not stack with rockbiter weapon or any other elemental weapon.
Neither do weightstones.

It is considered a sharpening stone, but works for all weapons, even blunt ones. It is the only weapon stone to function this way.

This temporary weapon enchant (for all weapons) was only available during the Scourge Invasion, which is not scheduled to return at this time.

Blizzard employee Nethaera said on 14-Jun-2007: "Currently we're focused on developing future events so the Scourge Invasion is a bit on the backburner though it may very well be back again at some point in the future."

These items have been updated to 170 AP on the 3.02 PTR/Beta, following this blue post concerning the possible return of Necrotic Runes, currency used to previously purchase this item back during the Scourge invasion of patch 1.11.

Blessed Wizard Oil has been similarly updated.

I can say it like this: Other sharpening stones works for druids, in shapeshift form since, some patch, some time ago.

Ofcourse.. thats not a real answer, but we cant test this in any way I guess :) So im just gonna assume they work in shapeshift forms.

Verimonde has the answer on this about stockpiling those for Naxx:

Sharpening Stones and also Wizard Oils have been discontinued. While they were something nice to use once in a while for most people for many raid guilds they were simply another burden to the cost of raiding. They also caused some issues in that they only helped certain classes and took away some of the uniqueness of other classes who were able to imbue their weapons with temporary enchants such as rogues and warlocks.

You can't use any Oils/Stone on a level 80 weapon.

At the release of Lich King, temporary weapon enhancements (oils & stones) worked on items all the way to those requiring level 80 (I applied it to Totemic Purification Rod with no problems), this was changed by Blizzard within weeks of release. After much experimenting I found that (at version 3.09) the current cut off for using these is any weapon with item value of 162 (as rated in the Armory). Any weapon at or above 166 will alert the user that the attempt failed but will not consume the object. I was able to apply oil to a Levitating Dagger (BOE green) which requires level 75 to use.

Other sharpening stones dont affect ranged dmg, is that the same for these?

Would be pretty sucky if so, cause hunter dont have anything from the invasion to up their ud dps, except the useless spell dmg oil for sting/arcane....

i would have thought u'll have to melee the undead target to get the 100AP to undead as u placed it on ur melee wep's....but then its AP not saying its RAP or MAP, so would be a good idea if someone tested it, so i might use for the petrafied leef Q ^.^ (cant spell it).

an odd question but as long as its aplied to a weapon you are using and your targets undead does it matter what kind of attack your actually using?

like if i aplied it to my 2 handed axe would my gun still get the bonus or do i have to use the axe only?

From testing, these do seem to work for druid forms! I tested in bear, but I assume cat works the same.

What I did:
Went naked and wore only my Warden Staff.
Went and attacked only the Suffering Highborne mobs (54-55) in winterspring.
Used details to filter out the crit/miss and only look at normal hits.
My only buffs (for both tests) were mark of the wild and the 10% dmg buff from the naxx events (I had it up from the previous event in the zone the whole time)

Without the stone applied to my staff:
109 non-crit white hits for an avg of 161 damage.

With the stone applied to my staff:
101 non-crit white hits for an avg of 175 damage.

In both tests, even after just the first mob, the avg damage was already within 2 total dmg of the eventual result, so I feel pretty confident that the (slight) overall damage output is due to the extra 100AP.
