Some of the slaves will go into frenzy and start to attack you, some of them will just run away to their "master" and some of them will count for the quest. Took me around 20 slaves to get 10 counts

This quest, along with most of the others aboard the Hammer, is only attainable after finishing the entire questline from the Argent Vanguard, beginning with Honor Above All Else, up to and including Orgrim's Hammer at Crusader Pinnacle.

Rogues can run along talking to the slaves and releasing them as you go. If any agro you, just ignore them and keep talking to more slaves.

Once your health gets low enough, just vanish. By this time you should be done/almost done with the quest.

Some of the slaves in the mines attack you, some of them run away, and some you can rescue when you talk to them. It seems annoying, but every day I do this it feels like more and more slaves try to attack me...but here's a little trick you can use to get this quest done faster.

When you get the occasional slave who tries to run and jump into the pits, try talking to him again while he's moving. Sometimes it will allow you to still rescue him and get credit, even though he's going to jump down.

I think this is one of the worst dailies.

Tiny area to get the objective done.
Variable length due to random chance of rescued or hostile slaves.
Players can grief you easily by talking to nearby slaves while you are fighting.
Hostile slaves drop no loot.
Hostile slaves do fairly high damage (900-1000 on cloth.)
Hostile slaves have just as much HP as a regular monster.

It's just really just the fact that you sometimes end up having to kill tons of slaves. They are not pushovers and on top of that you get no loot from them. Then, sometimes you are fighting one and another player gets all the nearby slaves rescued.

You can test your luck by talking to slaves and ignoring the hostile ones. Eventually, you will have to fight them, use some kind of escape maneuver, or end up dying.

For hunters, dismiss your pet and start talking to them ignoring any that attack you.... keep doing this until you are low on health or have all 10 freed, at this point use feign death and they run back to their spots before disappearing =P.....easy!

i cant say if this is 100% true or not but it seems if you kill all the Taskmistresses close to the slaves you are talking to they have at least a higher chance of running free, i just did it with 0 attacking me and only 2 jumping to their death

it's appeared to work for 2 days in a row now

maybe the Taskmistresses are the "voices"

Since 3.0.8 I seem to have much better luck with this quest. Something like a 50% chance of a 'good' outcome when speaking to the slaves.

Much needed change imo.

if the slaves try to run away and jump into the holes you can actually talk to them again and quite often it works and will give you a quest credit even though they keep on running and jump, makes it faster completing the quest

This might be pure luck but it seems you have a higher chance of getting a good one if you try to free the miners that are from your faction. Every orc and troll i spoke with ended up counting to the quest. 70% of the alliance miners became hostile the other 30% didnt count =p im doing the quest for the 1st time so no idea =p Maybe anyone could confirm this

EDIT: An alliance miner counted =p but the horde ones still have a 100% ratio so far =p

Not sure if it's just me, but I quite often get DCs in these mines, or sometimes just very low FPS, usualy end up dead when I get back from a DC.. might be because of high graphics settings and the Val'kyr mobs.

Could just be superstition, but seems like the closer you are to the slaves, the higher chance you have of them being rescued.

When I stood on top of them, it was like 90% chance and they never aggro'ed. When I was further away or running from them they aggro'ed more frequently.

I spoke to so many that I lost count, none were freed. Why Blizzard think that there is any enjoyment in quests like this is beyond me. As is the quest.

There is a bug that makes you lose ~500g every time you interact with a slave npc. I repeat: DO NOT DO THIS QUEST UNTIL IT GETS FIXED. I will post an update when it does.

Our people are being captured and put to work as slaves in the saronite mines of Ymirheim, the vrykul stronghold in the middle of Icecrown. The Lich King has them mining that unholy ore day and night.

I made a promise to Highlord Fordring that we would get those wretches out of there alive, and that's exactly what we will do.

Unfortunately, I've been ordered to stay on this gunship and serve as an ambassador to the Warsong Offensive. Will you please rescue them in my stead, <name>?
