You can buy +15% run speed enchant from the bone witch and solo this quest with any class that has ranged nuke. It takes a while, but it's still doable.

Soloed the whole chain as an 80 Ret Paladin.

He's under Icecrown Citadel; the entrance to the area he's in is east of the big ramp / stairs leading up to the Citadel. He's near a rather large pit.

With the 15% run speed buff from the witch or talents, you can easily kite him around the pit and hit him with any attack with 8+ yard range. Make a big circle around the pit, hiting him with any range attacks you have. Just make sure to do it more than once every 20 seconds, or he'll reset.

For Paladins, I used Judge, Divine Storm and Exorcism. You have to run towards him for just a split second to hit him with Divine Storm. Under 20% I just used Hammer.

i did try solo this with my mage, i got him down to 40% the problem i have is running out of mana, since you can only use mana pot once and pot stay on CD (Cool down start when leaving combat) can't really evocation. i use Mirror Image long enough to hold him so i can evocation. I didn't have 15% speed buff only have speed boot enchant+blink.

IMO any range class that can dot up and kite is easy, and FYI if you kite him out side the ring he go invis you can't see him but if you walk back in the ring you can see him and 1 shot you :)

i was able to solo him to day and finish the quest, i have rune speed buff and boot speed enchant = 124% faster then he is, since i am running around circle Morgraine show up but didn't get to him when he was 10%, and Morgraine one shot him :)

Mage spec 39/32/0, ice lance, and Fire Blast keep using it when not in CD, and POM Pyro, when it available, use Mirror Image to hold him long enough for full evocation.

Solo'ed at level 80 as a Frost Mage shortly after hitting 80 in mostly Heroic and 10-man Nax gear.

Easy solo, just run in circles and spawn whatever instants you like. Just watch your mana, burn gems every cooldown and whenever Evoc is up pop Mirror Image to buy enough time to use it.

Pick up the fallowing items for help, but you don't really need them.

Solo'd with an ele shaman. I'm running with flame shock and water shield glyphs, and have instant ghostwolf form.

Just run around with flame shock on, getting distance with ghostwolf to drop a lava burst .. repeat. Took about 10 minutes to kill him as he has alot of hitpoints.

At 20% he starts moving slower.

Duo'd by a blood DK and a combat rogue, both 80. I (the DK) just spammed Icy Touch, D&D, and Death Coil. The rogue did what DPS he could without going over my threat. Rogue did die at one point after stealing aggro, flew back in time for Mograine to come out and help kill him. Ran around that pit till I got dizzy though. =/

As a shadow priest I couldn't solo him. Kept dotting him and running around the pit as suggested, but he would always evade at some point.

You have to hit him with some direct damage spell to prevent him from evading. For a Shadow Priest, I'd recommend Shadow Word: Death. You should be able to heal through the damage it causes to you.

As a hunter, I got the Rune of Fleet Feet, and just used Aspect of the Viper. You can kite like the Winterspring demon back in the days of Rhok'delar, but its easier to just run sideways and shoot. Drop Immolation traps and keep a sting up, hit him with the highest rank Arcane shot. You can swap to Aspect of the Dragonhawk for a bit for some more damage if you get too far, and Aspect of the Cheetah to get back away. Keep dropping traps. I have Naxx epics, some emblem gear, took me about 24 minutes (due to the damage reduction of AotV, even with Aspect Mastery).

You will need a pet with dive or dash, I'd suggest one with a ranged attack or a dot. If your pet disappears, just re-call it and it will go to town again. You can even pick up some trash pet and give it the talent to increase run speed for this, will help a lot (wish I had done that).

To get to this quest, you have to complete a chain that becomes available after unlocking Crusader's Pinnacle and The Shadow Vault, starting with Exploiting an Opening for Alliance and Opportunity for the Horde. The two sides parallel until Tirion's Gambit/Tirion's Gambit, after which they merge.

Unfortunately, this can't be the whole truth, either, because I picked up Parting Gifts and started this chain while I was still working on the Tirion's Gambit questline. I *think* at the time I was still on Field Repairs, although I might have been as far along as Time for Answers. But I currently have this quest in my log, along with Knowledge is a Terrible Burden, so Tirion's Gambit itself is definately not a requirement.

Just did this quest today and sadly died right after Mograine spawned and accidentally released. (I know It was a stupid day for me).

As a feral, not able to solo him, unlike the guys before. Then I read the questlog again:

Some of the Ebon Blade's strongest agents have already been dispatched - gather aid and join the fight. It is time for Bloodbane to die.

So, can you call those fighting NPCs to your aid somehow? I tried pulling him to unengaged Ebon Blades, no reaction. Helping them against the spawns doesn't do anything either.

Soloed as Frostfire Mage (with Living Bomb). 1664 spellpower, rune of +2% dmg, rune of +15% run speed, Mage Armor, Arcane Intellect. At 25%, 20% and 15% he slowers, so be careful not to run out of range - he resets then. Took 15 minutes to kill him with LB. Throwed few Fireblasts, and had to use Blink few times. After 15% he is very slow, so face him and go backwards, spam Fireblast, Ice Lance, don't forget to reapply LB.

At 40% Mograine yelled something about Bloodbane, but I didn't see Mograine there. Maybe missed him while kiting.

Soloed as a resto druid. Moonfire, travel form and run around the pit until moonfire is almost spent, then moonfire and travel form again. It took 38 minutes with quest blues and a couple of crafted epic BoEs.

Throwing more damage spells into the mix would obviously cut down on the time, but the dude hits pretty hard and it's difficult enough to recover from a missed moonfire. Also be sure not to let him reset - the direct damage portion of moonfire will stop him from resetting as long as you hit him often enough.

Boomkins would be able to use this method to burn him down more quickly. Ferals, with limited +spell damage, might want to come up with a different approach.

Duo'd this quest (along with the three riders) as a protection paladin with a hybrid frost/unholy death knight. I used the 5% increased damage done, 5% decreased damage taken and 2% of total hp healed on critical hit runes.

It was fairly straight forward, engaged Orbaz and started the standard tanking rotation, though I left out consecration as I was repeatedly moving backwards to stay out of his aoe damage. The only tricky bit about the whole fight, was the lag that started when another Wintergrasp battle began. After 5 seconds of nothing happening I found myself a bit too low on hp, so I popped Lay on Hands.

Not sure how hard he hits, but I easily duo-ed this quest with a prot warrior as a resto shaman. Tank was a 26k unbuffed naxx geared tank, I am a 2150 SP resto shaman, and it was a complete joke. I'd guess it would be still easily done with a 20k hp tank and 1500 sp healer.

Also, if you have a good tank, which I was lucky to have, at about 50% health you can drag him past the guys fighting, and kill off the guy the friendly one is fighting, and the friendly one will join the fight and help dps, and do a large amount of dps at that, which is why you really only need a tank and healer for this fight.

Soloed as a Death Knight.

1)No need for special buffs.
2)Turn on Unholy Aura for the 15% run speed (otherwise use Blood for more damage if you have 15% run speed some other way)
3)Strafe around the parameter of the pit using ranged attacks. My rotation was: Icy Touch, Howling Blast (or Icy Touch again if your not Frost), Blood Boil, Blood Boil, Death Coil, Death Coil
4)Repeat

He very very slowly closes on you, but at some point he stops to enchant his weapon letting you get back to max range. At around 20% he starts slowing down and it becomes less stressful :P

Took maybe 10 minutes. GL!

EDIT: Mograine is supposed to help you finish Orbaz off. You shouldn't actually need the help, but it does speed up the very last bit of the encounter. If you've pulled Orbaz too far away from his starting location, Mograine will despawn after his second yell (this is the moment he'd normally join the fight) and this stops the dialogue, except for Orbaz's dying breath: "The Lich King shall extinguish... every... last... one... of you".

Soloed as a 36-33-3 DK.

Took about 20 minutes of kiting in a circle. Similar to above I used Fate Rune of Fleet Feet but I also used Unholy Presence on top of that, they apparently stack so I was running around at +32% so I'd actually end up out running him in some cases.

Easy rotation of spells, Icy Touch, Blood Boil, Blood Boil, Icy Touch, Blood Boil, Blood Boil, Death Coil, Death Coil. Run forward, but look to your left or right slightly so you can cast behind you.

I actually ended up binding Icy Touch, Blood Boil, and Death Coil to the scroll up, down, and middle button of my mouse so I just needed to scroll up, down or press the button =).

This quest can be an unbelievable pain. Unlike most other group quests in icecrown, most players will need a party of at least 3 well geared 80s to do it, and even then, you probably want to have 5. Because this is a phase related quest, everyone in the group needs to have completed the riders quests and all the other quests leading up to those, which means it is hard to pug because there are rarely 2-4 other people in the area able and willing to help you with the quest. It took me 3 weeks to get it taken care of. I’m going to keep my cloak reward from it forever. :-)

Fwiw, after 2 weeks of flying around Icecrown spamming for a group for this quest with no luck (phasing, love it and hate it), I finally got a 3man together by hanging out in Dalaran spamming Trade for it instead. Only took about 10m there, and Dalaran is not far from the quest location.

Killed him with a DK/Mage duo, it's nearly impossible to find any help at all, let alone a healer. Everyone seem so be running heroics or something.

Ran back and forth in front of the mage, used the +15% speed rune (You can use Unholy presence too, they stack, but make sure you get Frost presence up ASAP if he gets too close), held aggro spamming Icy Touch and Death Coil (Glyph of IT helped alot). I actually forgot about Blood Boil, silly me. The mage just spammed the living hell out of him. Didn't take too long, 4 or so minutes maybe. Suprisingly quick considering his 400k HP.

You have to be quick with your panic buttons, he can eat your HP in a few seconds.
By the way, he can slow you down if you don't pay attention, so a trinket or racial to remove the snare is recommended.

Don't even try to solo this. The best I could do was get 22k off him before he caught me and I had to FD. Then we tried with 2 hunters and a mage and still couldn't do it. Get a group like it says to with a good tank before you attempt it. He runs very fast and is immune to all slowing effects. If you can't get a group, skip it. You don't need to do it to finish the quest achievement for the zone.

as of 3.0.8a, kiting him still seems possible. As a destro lock, took him to 50%, and then had a massive amount of lag, resulting in an instant spell taking 15 seconds, and him evading. Attempt 2 starting now.

Solo'd this quest quite easily as a Protection Paladin(heroic gear + a few Naxxramas 10-man epics).

I simply kited him around the pit without any movement increase or anything like that. He rarely hit me, and the few times he did was either after his buff at 80% or one of the spells he cast.

I think it was around 20-25% that Mograine spawned, and he went down in a few seconds after that.

I solo'd this as an enhance shaman. How you say, with a melee class? Well, basically alternated flame shock and earth shock, but the majority of damage came from my Spirit Wolves. Basically, FS/ES him while running around the hole, and when your Spirit Wolves come up, use them, get a flame shock in, THEN use Twin Howl to get him to attack them, stop and use Flame Burst for the guaranteed crit, run again, use Twin Howl again, etc. Keep doing the FS/ES while Spirit Wolves are on cooldown or else he'll run back. This happened to me when I got him down to 60% and I was !@#$ed. Good luck.

As of at the latest 2-14-09 he's been patched so he is unable to be kited anymore. 15% doesn't help at all.

People saying that 3.0.9 made him un-kiteable obviously haven't tried to kite him. HE HAS NOT BEEN PATCHED IN 3.0.9!

I solo'd him as a Holy Paladin with my only movement increase being the rune of fleet feet. Note that I was UNABLE to kite him without this rune as some players have been able to. You will likely need this or some other 15% speed increase.

For Holy Paladins, I just set him as my focus and set the following 3 macros up. I then ran partially sideways (strafing while looking toward the pit to keep him "in-front" of me).

/cast Exorcism;
/cast Judgement of Light;
/cast Holy Shock;

I put these on keys 1-3 respectively and put Divine Plea on key 4. I was then easily able to hold D to move in my strafe manner while being able to easily keep my mana up and use the attacks.

Just do aspect of the cheetah run around the pit and if u get dazed by the beams disengange if u get oom u should have
a little distance to switch to aspect of the viper or just pot :) very easy

I discovered that if you kite him near Highlord Darion Mograine that npc will also attack him. He is a ? lvl boss and can be your tank plus he does lots of damage to boot. The other npc's do not attack however. It appears Morgraine only spawns once you engage Bloodbane (I could not find him after the event and read this is why, though I cannot personally verify). Also, be aware some posters say "Mograine" should be spelled "Mogaine" so if this is indeed correct Blizz might correct the spelling in a future patch if you try to /tar to find him.

Here's the chain of quests required to unlock this, as I have experienced it. This goes for Horde, but it should be pretty similar for alliance. Note that before completing this quest, I had 67 quests done in Icecrown, most of which lead me here. It's a pretty long trip...

1. Do all the Argent Vanguard quests in south-eastern Icecrown until Orgrim's Hammer (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=13224)
2. Do the Shadow Vault quests until you unlock the flight path
3. I did 3 Vykrul quests (challenge 6 fighters, beat the 4 named guys and get the key for the other dude) but I'm not sure they're required

Tried and successfully did this quest last night solo as holy paladin with the talent for movement increase.

Just running around the big hole judging, holy shocking and exorcism with an eye on my mana, divine plea.

After a couple of laps around I had gotten Orbaz' health down for Mograine to finish him off. :)

I soloed this as a feral druid. In resto gear, spamming moonfire while running around the pit. Well, nearly soloed, as a group showed up a couple of minutes after Mograine spawned (and despawned, as I was on the wrong side of the pit /cry) and helped me with the last bit of his hp, but I was nowhere near to running oom, so I'm pretty sure I would've done it without them. It took 25 minutes in total. My conclusion is that anyone can solo this with enough patience, the right spec or not. ;)

Pretty easy as an Elemental Shaman specced into Improved Ghostwolf. Just kite im in a circle around the perimeter, alternating Flame and Earth Shock every cd and use Lava Burst when you gained enough range. He seems to get slower when is he low (around 20%), so you sometimes can fit in a Lightning Bolt.

Do not ever let him hit you because if he puts Desecration on you or Dazes you it's pretty much game over.

Took me about 10 minutes. Mograine did not join in the fight for me, he just stood there looking stupid.

Any Hunter should have a ridiculously easy time solo'ing this, regardless of spec. With the Fate Rune of Fleet Feet and Aspect of the Cheatah on, you have a +50% run speed, meaning that Orbaz has no chance of reaching you. As survival I just kept using Serpent Sting and Explosive Shot, stopping occasionally to let an Auto-shot go off.

Unless your pet has Dash it won't be able to keep up with him but it shouldn't matter. Only took about 5 minutes and I only had to go into Viper once.

solod with naxx25 geared protection paladin, kited him around, using sacred shield, judgement of light, hand of freedom when you are affected by desecration. At around 50% i got to low hp, used mana pot+divine shield, healed to full and continued. It's imperative that you dispel the plague strike he casts asap. I only used judgement of light & shield of rigtheousness to save mana and do maximum damage. I just kept moving backwards all the time. Any physical attacks got avoided or blocked. It's the diseases and spells that are dangerous, which is why you kite this mob around.

Just solo'd this as an 80 FFB Mage, I just grabbed some PvP boots with run speed enchant on them and kited him around the circle with Living Bomb and Ice Lance, he never caught up to me nor did I take any damage. Be sure to use Mage Armor because it tends to be a long fight if you solo kite him, took me about 9 minutes; I used a Mana Pot, and all 3 Mana Gem's but it is definitely doable if you are an experienced kiter.

Duo'd just now as with a rogue (myself) and a resto druid. Both 80 me in a mixture of crafted epics, heroic drops, and 10/25 man pieces. Resto druid in Heroic drops and crafted epics. Took a while, and not too easy, but entirely possible. No run speed increases, no kiting except to avoid Unholy Blight and the purple things.

At 25% Highlord Darion Mograine will come assist the fight if Bloodbane isn't far from the start location. At that point a few more seconds and it's over. A bit slow but soloable as a lock with imp funnel and demonic resilience on a vw.

Solo'd as a Survival Hunter. Just kept aspect of the cheetah up, serpent sting, and explosive shot. Draw him into a Immolation Trap to proc lock and load and just keep jumping, spinning, shooting, and running around the circle. Didnt even run out of mana.

Duoed this guy really easy. I am a frost dk tank and was with a frost mage. I just kited him around in a figure 8 so the mage never had to move. He went down fast took about 5min max. Best of luck

As a shadow priest I got the 15% speed buff, ran around and around the pit all the while spamming Devouring Plague, SW:P, and SW: Death, using shadowfiend and disperson to keep up my mana. It took about 10 min. He starts to slow down toward the end , dont get too far ahead of him or you'll leave combat.

I was kiting as a DK using Icy Touch. Just started the pull. Mograine was standing right there and started owning Bloodbane. Then at 25% a 2nd Mograine came out. I popped Gorgoyle and Ghoul and wtfpwnd.

beared. naxx25 gear, two witch runes - 2% healed and 15% run speed. kite him around at his spawn place so when mograine spawns he'll aggro. barkskin+travel from when he's casting shadow storm thingy, rejuv + nourish. repeat until about 25% when he gets owned by mograine.

soloed as a Frostfire Mage. It took about 15 minutes. Here's how:

1) Used the Fate Runes of Baneful Intent and Fleet Feet
2) Cast Living Bomb
3) Cast mirror image when available
4) Cast Fire Blast and Ice lance when far enough away
5) Kept running around the pit - using blink when he got too close. You can tell when it is time to blink again when the spell he casts starts to be visible

Living Bomb was enough to keep him from evading so theoretically that is all that was needed, but would have taken longer. As noted by others he does slow down as his hit points go down so that is when I would quickly stop and cast an instant on him

In theory, this could be soloed as a Warrior... if you have a day to spare.

1.) Use a speed buff and start in Defensive Stance.
2.) Pull with Heroic Throw from max range.
3.) Immediately run away, kiting in a circle around the pit.
4.) Use Taunt every time it is up to keep aggro.
5.) Whenever Heroic Throw comes off CD, quickly turn, throw, and start running again.
6.) Any time Orbaz falls out of range of your Taunt/HT, stop to let him catch up so he doesn't reset.

Lather, rinse, repeat about five hundred times.

I tested this out tonight, and it worked for as long as I was willing to keep it up (at least five minutes, but less than 10)--I took zero damage. It's an obscenely tediously slow way to do the quest, but it will work. And given that Blizzard was stupid enough to make a quest like this phased at the end of a chain, you might just get desperate enough to try it.

Caveat: Make sure your speed buff will last long enough to get through the whole fight. My current tanking set, which is what I was wearing when I tested, has almost 3k AP, so my HT does 1478 damage--which was reduced to 942-943 actual damage on Orbaz. With a one-minute CD, that puts it at about 336 minutes to run through 75% of his 422,100 HP... That's about five and a half hours for you kids playing along at home.

Moral of the story: Way to fail, Blizzard.

Just finished this - shadow priest. I wasn't about to try getting a group at 2:30 am, and I had managed to solo the knights prior to this, so I figured, what the heck, I'll try it.

The first try kitting him around... yeah, didn't go so well. I paused for just a second but that was all it took; because I hadn't kept moving, he caught up and desecration landed, and there was no getting away after that. I went back to the Bone Witch's area and killed some vyrkul for more runes, and tried again.

This time I managed to stay ahead. I did the usual - kept dots up, SW:D whenever it was up so he wouldn't evade, etc... but at 30% or so I was a little too slow on hitting SW:D and he evaded all the way back to his start point (Mograine had done his yell but apprently I ran right by him and he never engaged Bloodbane...).

Annoyed, I tried a third time. I hadn't even finished my first lap around when Mograine spawned and did his yell again... but the Mograine from the previous try hadn't despawned (he had been waiting patiently for me to run by him again, clearly) so I ended up having two supped up elites wailing on Bloodbane from nearly 100% to 0 while I contributed my rather paltry dps, by comparison. He died in seconds.

For what it's worth, I was mostly in my disc healing gear, having only a few pieces with hit on them. Just a mix of blues and purples (Naxx, pre-Ulduar crafted pieces), really.

Did this quest last night. I switched to tank spec with the little bit of tank gear that I had and had a holy priest along side to heal and help with dps. Pretty easy actually.

At first I wasn't as far along in the quest chain as my guildmate and we couldn't see each other due to the phasing. Even after getting myself caught up in the chain, I was phased differently than my partner. I flew out of the zone and back again and everything was fine.

Affl/Demo Lock
Soloed all 3 of the riders quests, can't seem to solo this guy, running round the pit, even with dots up on the dude, and he goes into evade. Tried a few times, and he just won't follow me far round the pit without evading. Tried cutting a smaller kiting circle round near his start area, but that just resulted in death. Has blizz fixed this to prevent kiting ? These phased q's suck, cos I can never find anyone else who is on the same q as me, and even my friend who has completed the chain was unable to see me, so I guess that you need someone who is on the quest.

I managed to solo this as a lvl 80 unholy dk and it was a PAIN. Had unholy presence to run faster, used icy touch to build up rp and then death coil. I killed him using only these two attacks and it too a LONG time. Just stay as far as you can ahead of him as you kite him around the ring. He starts slowing down for some reason when he gets to about 10% hp, so don't outrun him to far at the risk of resetting him.

This is doable, but believe me it sucks.

Solo'd as a prot warrior without any runes, just keep backpedaling and hope Enraged Regen comes up for a second time before you're dead.

If you die after Mograine has been summoned, you can run back quickly and still get the kill.

I tried this today as an enhancement shaman, and since I had just knocked off the 3 riders, I didn't have bloodlust or elemental totems available. Got him down to around 20%, feral spirits ran out, and died. Started to run back and noticed Mograine had yelled something before I released. Got back and saw the two of them duking it out, with Bloodbane at 5%. Attacked Bloodbane once and healed myself up, he died, I got credit.

Soloed as a Feral druid in t7.5ish feralgear using a Fate Rune of Unsurpassed Vigor from the BoneWitch and a lvl 80 Stamina scroll and selfbuffs. Reasonably easy this way. Tried it before without the Fate Rune and it was not possible to do. Try it and jump in the pit behind Bloodbane if you can not hold your ground against him. You wont die and can try again.

Spent 20 minutes kiting the prick, quest bugged and Mograine didnt do a farking thing. Got killed when I circled back attempting to get Mograine to get off his useless arse and help. Aaaaaand to top it off, tried again, bailed out by jumping down the crater... and landed on something and died. FTS.

As a survival hunter, I had no problems kiting this guy, but after a while he would glitch, continue to follow me but be "Out of Range" of all my shots. I could have been under some major lag or something, but the latency didn't show it. Eventually he would reset because I wasn't attacking him. Gonna keep trying though, maybe will kite away from the inner edge.

Did Solo this guy, Blood DK With almost Complete Tankset and Full Dps will have a Quite Fair Chance against him. Heres what i Did: I Did Use Summon Ghoul, Gave him Icetouch, Plauge strike 1 Heart Strike, Death strike. Keps The Routine untill Dots were low, used my Pestilence to keep The Dots up, (So Glyph of Desiese will I recomment Warmly) Since Using my Death' Strike's runes will prove Death... He will still get u on low hp So i Recommend To Use Death Pact Once in A while. Those Things he spawns, are a Pain in the ass MMove away from these Veryfast, I Recommend toSlowly Keep Pulling him around in a Cirkel for the Entire fight, Also dont forget to use Mark of Blood on him =). I was able to "duo" this as a disc priest with a shadow priest helping me (i'm alliance, he is horde). The horde shadow priest held agro and kited him around while I stood in the middle of the circle he was being kited in and smite'd him down. I checked armory and the horde didn't have any movement speed increase so it's possible to kite him without it.

Are you meant to weaken him because we killed him and he had around 450k hp.

Just took the lightning damage but the paly died on 1% hp.

Soloed it as a prot pali...just tank and spanked him, didn't think it was that hard. i used seal of light and judgement of light to keep health up and blessing of sactuary to keep mana up and just wailed on him till he died...i did move out of his aoe's though. didn't use my bubble, lay on hands or any health/mana pots.

Soloed the whole chain tonight as an Unholy DK in frost presence w/ tank gear. Just kept strafing away from him, kept diseases up and spammed Death Strike for life and it was no sweat.

I will add that I tried to kite him at first, but I got caught in his ground AoE which slowed me down enough that he was able to catch up and wail on me.. I don't know if this is a new feature of his as of 3.2 but it's something to watch out for if you're trying the kiting method.

Soloed as a BM hunter with turtle pet, didn't use any buffs. Had t5(2) but it doesnt help after he gains that runic sword buff or whatever is it called. At like 50% when he got it, he killed my pet and i kited him then untill he died.

Soloed today by a fury/prot warr, by using bloodthirst to heal myself, i just walked backwards all the way, build is made of 32 points in fury, (bloodthirst and stuff), and 39 in Prot for survival.

Use bloodthirst to heal yourself, and have alot of health.
I had 33k health unbuffed, may have helped me :P

Two manned as a discipline priest healing an affliction warlock. Both of us were pretty well geared. However, on the first try Darion spawned but did not attack. The second try we dragged him over to Mograine, DPS'd him down, and a second Darion spawned.

Keep sacred shield up, and keep walking backwards all the way around the circle. Judge light to heal yourself. It took me one and a half passes around the circle for Mograine to show up and finish chopping him down. I never went below 85% health.

Solo'd as a dual-spec 80 heroic-geared Druid with some resto gear on. I didn't really bother reading any of the comments before I went. The only thing I read before I tried was "it would take a while". So I figured a solid minute or two of kiting? No problem.

Yeah, then I actually started the fight. Attempt #1, tried it as my main feral spec, got raped in seconds. I took way too much damage and after a minute of blowing everything I had on him, he was still at maybe 95% health. So Attempt #2 I kited him around the place just spamming moonfire with the 15% run speed buff and Travel Form when he got too close. Turns out it took a little longer than I thought it would. It took 25 minutes of kiting to kill him. Moonfire spam, Innervate, repeat. My fingers were all cramped by the time it was over.

Managed to do this fairly easily as an Enhance Shamman. Used the damage increase rune, mana regen rune, and the 15% run speed rune.
Keep Water shield up he will hit it with spells so make sure you keep it refreshed.
Keep a healthy distance and Kite with Earth Shock.
Spirit wolves when ever it is up. (making sure not to get to far ahead when they cast speed)
Took a little while to do but definatly easy to do. Never went below 98% health.
Make sure you drag him to the NPC that kills him!

For those of us who are not wearing full raid epics:

80 DK here (45-0-26). Kited him. Unholy presence + Fate Rune of Fleet Feet, from The Bone Witch for the low low price of 15 Vrykul bones. Get two. Why? It took me +20 minutes of kiting to kill him, and if you make a mistake you're going to die.

Death Coil (30 yard range), Icy Touch (20 yard range), and Blood Boil (10 yard range if you have balls to get that close). Permanent ghoul helps, though it can get slowed down by Orbaz's Desecration, and it might require some kiting tricks to help the ghoul catch up.

Do not outrun him! With the buff I linked and Unholy Presence, it's possible to be faster than him. If that happens he will de-aggro, evade, return to his post and 100% health and you will raise your fist to the Heavens, in sight of a callous God.

When Mograine spawned he just stood there. I completed at least 3 circuits around the Go-Kart Track that is this area, each time trying to kite Orbaz in such a way that Mograine would take him off my hands. He did not. And I was not going to risk going to melee with Orbaz, not after I had spent more than 20 minutes of my life running around in circles in Arthas' basement.

Frustrating. Particularly as its a phased event, and even if you could find someone kind enough to help, if they're not on the same phase you're SOL.

This quest is easy if you are a paladin with decent tanking gear :)
Stayed full hp the whole fight except at end when he begins to do more damage, but its really just about keeping Sacred Shield, Holy Shield, and having Glyph of Divine Plea so you can have a stbail mana inc because you will have to use Judgment of Light to keep yourself topped. Used maybe around 3 min just tanking him while moving away from the purple orbs and.. yeah just doing the normal :)

Should be noted that I had to redo this quest after faction change and have Ulduar 25/totc10 gear so might be pretty hard for a blue geared prot pala since I was able to block a major part of his hits which deals around 2k on tanks.
Hope this helps all the fellow paladins though I'm guessing most ppl will downrate me just for the hell reasoning that paladins are still OP :P

Soloed him as a blood dk geared in full pvp epics and superior sword. Had to use army of the dead, mark of blood, and spam rune tap. Obviously done in frost prescence with around 24k armor, 22k health. Boots and leggins were exchanged for green gear with shadow resistance at 120 (to help against plague strike which hits for about 5k. still took me around 5 tries until i got lucky with my crits and survived until Mograine got there. Also, I apologise if this has already been stated, but he easily outran me even with the speed boosts, so i think i can say with confidence that he can no longer be kited.

I soloed this as an enhance shaman.

Popped cleansing, wolves, heroism and earth elemental. Kited out of the Dark Lightning and died just as Darion showed up. Orbaz evaded and tethered.

I noticed Darion was still there giving his speech so I reincarnated, pulled him again over to Darion and watched Darion beat down on him. At 20%... another Darion showed up! Orbaz was stomped into the floor in short order and I got two speeches for one :)

Tried to solo as a new 80 Retadin in crafted PVP gear+some ilevel 200 blue axe.

Failed miserably. Did fine on all the guys before him, but I can't kite this guy. Might be a latency issue, but Judgement range is only 10 yards and that was close enough for him to tag me with a snare every now and then, and once you're in melee range you cannot escape. Holy would probably be doable with the longer range on judgements/holy shock, but not as ret.

Solo'ed this just 5 minutes ago as prot pala. Avarage of 200/213 gear (and trashload of stamina), i just kept walking back spamming SoR and JoL, kept Divine Plae active to keep up my mana. When i had enough mana, pop a heal and back to walking back again. At some point he forges his sword with shadow, this time i had to pop Divine Shield to fully heal up and continued. Eventuely that morgraine dude showed up, but first he just stand there doing nothing.

Had to use Lay on Hands at the final moment, then mograine came to attack and it was all over very fast.

Also keep Holy Shield and Sacred Shield up at all times.

Lol, very easy kill as affl lock.

Basically you needa get the speed buff from the bonechick and kite him in a circle.

Here's the trick... place your portal FACING him then go to the opposite side from that to start running. This way when you run ALL the way around you will come to the portal very quickly.

so... (<--- *you*) - - - *Baney* - - - (<--- your portal)

To start cast from the furthest possible spot, I haunted then UA, CoA, Corr, RUN RUN RUN. Pretty much you're killing him with your Corruption ticks and keeping him in battle with CoA. CoA is NOT being used for dmg purposes again, it's just to keep him from resetting. When you've come full circle you try to use CoA JUST as your portal comes in range and blink! This will give you PLENTY of breathing room as he will probably have ALMOST caught up to you. Rinse and Repeat. If your testicular fortitude is high, you can cast UA then immediate portal. I did it twice and it works, but he will be MUCH closer to you the next time you get near the portal.

DANGER: Your portal WILL run out before you down him (atleast mine did) the trick is to drop it then straffe AWAY from the center of the room (perpendicular to the path you were running. This will create the same amount of room for you when you blink back to it and continue your sprint. Also if he dazes you, the portal will of course remove it. Easy. Took like 10 minutes, lol. But very nice to kill 420k hp elite.

HUGE pain in the ass, but I soloed this as a 10/25 man TOGC geared fire mage.

Pyroblast, pop mirror image, fire ball, living bomb, turn, blink, and run like hell around the whole circle. Hit living bomb every time it drops, and blink every time it's off of cool down. It takes a while and I was able to pop mirror image again, but since you don't have to face a target to living bomb it, just keep running and blinking away and casting living bomb. I only turned to use an instant pyro if it was after I blinked and was far away. He gets close, but he shouldn't get close enough to hit you if you pull from max range and make sure to blink as soon as it's off cool down.

Tankadins!

For soloing, this is just a constant backpeddle circle-kite around the pit in the middle, to avoid his nasty aoe.

I used Devotion Aura, Blessing of Sanc, and Seal of Light for health return. If you're sceptical about the merits of SoL, i checked recount at the end, because i was curious, as i have to admit it's the first time i've ever used it: SoL healed me for around 23.5k for the duration of that fight, proccing 44 times, with red sword of courage (1.6 weapon speed).

A few of the slow affects will clip you, but if you have 2/2 PoJ, or one of the movement speed alternatives already listed, most will not. Also, 2/2 Guarded by The Light means you can keep devine plea up the entire fight so mana isn't an issue, assuming you leave consecration out of your rotation, as he will only be standing in it for a tick or so. Other than that, standard rotation, with Avenging shield thrown in on on cd, in lieu of Conscecration and ditto any trinkets you might have.

I "died" once, proccing ardent defender, when i got low again, bubbled, LoH when bubble dropped, and by that time Mograine was windmilling in, car keys firmly in hand, and the fight was shortly over, and i ended on about 70% health. Fight lasted maybe 3mins, 4mins tops.

He seemed a bit, i hate to say it, buggy. Sometimes he was blatently in front of me, but my buttons were showing him as out of melee range, and normally when i was affected by the speed debuff, i was actually no where near him, and other times, he was standing practically on top of me and I was not being affected by it.

Regardless, think we have it pretty easy, compared to some of the other classes having read the above posts.

This is mind-numbingly easy as an 80 affliction warlock. Grab one of those run-speed runes from the bone lady and this is not even a challenge. I opened with a shadowbolt + haunt and kept corruption and curse of agony up as I kited him around the middle circle. Whenever I got enough distance, I reapplied Haunt and/or unstable affliction. I also recommend bringing your voidwalker + soul link if you have it, as I had to sacrifice once or twice due to lag/bad timing. Took me around 5 minutes in ~226 ilvl gear.

I'm also using the Tuskarr boot enchant, but I don't think that made any serious difference as I was constantly getting so far ahead of him with the rune that I was out of range.

Done it with 2 death knights and a rogue. All 3 Riders and Bloodbane killed. Frost and Blood where just tank and spam. We used double Army of the Dead spell for Unholy and BloodBane. That sure made it a beautiful fight.

pretty hard fight but I killed bloodbane in 3 minutes , had to spam Death strike alot to keep myself up and 1 health potion and twice rune tab, forgot to use death pact. And ofc army of dead in the beginning, I did summon my ghoul for some extra dps but I died at 1% xD but I got the quest because dots and that friendly NPC killed him. Dont recommend to solo this eventhough it is doable. Just bring an healer will be alot easier

I found this to be a pretty easy solo on my DK. I slapped on my tank gear and got into my blood tank spec and just tank and spanked him. My death strikes kept me at close to 100% health through the whole thing, never even used army. I did kite him around but was in melee range the whole time. Never even came close to death, finished the fight at about 95% health. He really doesn't hit that hard if you've got some decent tank gear and are at 540 defense or higher. Just keep moving him because he does a stationary lighting attack that does some pretty good damage.

The way I did this as a Blood DK was fun, although a bit broken. It was my 3rd attempt (first time I remembered to use Army at the beginning) and I managed to bring Bloodbane's health down (basically HS and DS whenever I could to keep my health up) to the point that Mograine spawned, but I died. What's interesting is that Mograine didn't despawn when I died, so as soon as I rezd I used Icy Touch on Bloodbane and brought him by Darion who attacked as soon as he was in range. Darion then basically pwnd him hard and a second Mograine spawned near the end which was funny.

Just completed it as an Affliction lock at 80. Easy if you take your time.
Tried it first by switching over to Demo with Felguard. He hits to hard to keep up resources.
Tried it second with my Felhunter on him. Felhunter will eventually die and he will reset when you lose line of sight.
This next tactic worked:

1. Got the speed rune from the bone witch.
2. Used an imp so pet would not be in his damaging area.
3. Ran around the pit keeping Corruption and Curse of Agony up.
4. IMPORTANT. Like others have said, there's unseen spots on the floor that make you lose line of sight. When this happens, you will notice him go out of range and run back towards your imp. I would pause running and wait for him to start back towards me. Continue per #3.
5. When Mograine showed up, i trained near him and he began attacking. Quick finish.

Solo'd as shaman ( elemental but its irrelevant)

I managed to just nuke it and heal myself without moving untill mograine popped. ( I pulled bloodbane a bit away from his spot ).

Then, he unleashed hell upon me, basicly i couldn't keep up the healing anymore in my elemental spec. I died.

Then, he walked back but here's the catch: MOGRAINE STAYS.

So, shaman power -> reincarnation, eat food, totems, Pull, and watch mograine solo him.

Update, Q complete in about 2-3 minutes.

EDIT : Extremely easy quest, I was tanking in DPS gear/spec and had a druid healer, that's all you need. I was majorly lagging as well but my Gargoyle, DoT's, Minion and AOTD kept him occupied :D

Note that if you wipe/get caught/lose him to some unexplained snares etc. after Darion spawns he will still be there and you can pull Bloodbane to him for easy kill....after a while another Darion will spawn and will raep his face.

Ok, used my druid tank to take this guy on, wasn't too bad, my armor soaked 41,624 of the melee damage and i took 12,872. the real problem was his shadow damage, 46,034 with 8033 resisted, also had a solid 41% dodge and 9% miss rate for Melee attacks, 3.7% and 16.7% miss and dodge for the shadow damage, had to keep him moving to stay out of the D&D and the shadow spheres he summons but otherwise he was fairly easy. Let my rage build up to 100 then popped frenzied regen when i got down to about 1/3 hp left then finished him off, 95% stam left at the end of the fight.
Overal totals: And just for laughs i brought out the brewmaiden.

soloed him as a blood dk (dps spec + gear in frost presence). used aod first and after all ghouls died just kept walking backwards to avoid the lightning crap. also used unbreakable armor once and anti-magic shell on cooldown.

I managed to solo this as a Unholy DPS Dk. I just continually backed up around the circle, the ghoul and gargoyle beat him down pretty fast. I also kept up diseases and used death strike and cool downs to keep myself alive. But a funny thing happened, about half way around the circle I got Orbaz to 1/3hp. 2 Highlords spawned to finish him off. Lucky bug I guess!

I managed to solo this as an 80 Prot Warrior with relative ease. I grabbed a rune to heal me for 2% of my life and just beat on Bloodbane until he got low enough for Highlord Darion Mograine to spawn. Keep in mind that you have to kite him in a small circle of 15+/- yards in order to avoid being hit by his massive AoE's. I completed it my first try but still died right as Darion spawned. I just waited to release and Darion finished Bloodbane off!

I just tried to defeat him as a retribution pally with 4700 GS...(solo) he just mopped the floar with me...will try as a prot palladin... damn patch changes...i tryed later as a protection paladin with less than 4k gs and was able to finish him (with Mograine`s help as well) used Seal of light and poped CDs when i needed..

Another easy way to do this quest is to kite Bloodbane to Mograine who is hugging the fence of the pit round towards where you enter the place. He owns bloodbane easily, and oddly enough was there twice when i did it earlier today :P weird bug but worked in my favour.

Soloed this just now as Shadow Priest. Used the Fate Rune of Fleet Feet for extra runspeed (essential) and Fate Rune of Baneful Intent for extra damage and kited him around and around the pit casting my DoTs.

Whole fight only took a few minutes. He seems to slow down at 20% making him very easy to finish, plus he stopped to renew his runes at one point, which gave me a huge lead when he was getting pretty close.

Mograine spawned but didn't do anything to help, but that wasn't a problem. Basically, as long as you can outrun him and hit him at range, you can solo this.

Soloed as a retribution paladin with ICC10/25 gear, not much of a deal.
Used seal of light and judgement of light when extra healing was needed.
Only moved from the orbs and his aoe on the floor, other than than i didnt kite him.

After solo'ing group quests with my dk during the day this was my final one and it was by far the hardest of em all but in the end I managed to bring him down on my own.

DK - Unholy - Unholy presence

The trick was to keep all diseases up on him (obviously) and then run around with +15% MS from presence while waiting for rune-cooldowns. Then I wacked him with 3 x Death Strikes before I continued to kite around. While running my ghoul was always hitting boss (except for the time when I had to death pact him) and my gargoyle was also shooting for some time. I also kept death coiling bloodbane for extra dps. I also popped AoTD in the begining so I could burst-dps him before he started to hit me. All in all it took maybe 5 mins to kill him .

plate classes, especially tanks, your comments are not needed, ofc you can solo him your wearing plate, he prob only hits you for 500. on cloth he hits for 5k. same goes for the other multiple person quests , vanilla raid bosses, and BC heroic bosses. every " solo´d as prot pala" post is getting down rated by me.

This quest appears to be bugged on Classic. The boss doesn't phase in where he's supposed to be.

Soloed this with a lv80 Protection Paladin. I had just reached lv80 so I didn't really have any dungeon gear, I was like 20K HP and most of the battle I was at 30% or so. He gets a buff when he's at 50% HP, I almost died a few times there.

When he's at 20% HP, Mograine shows up and finishes him.

WotLK Classic:

Bloodbane can be kited around the circular room so you get out of his Death and Decays and the other stuff. I know it doesn't mean much, but I was able to solo him at 2.6k GS as a Blood DK with DPS gear in Frost Presence, having hit 80 just 2 hours before. It was tricky and I needed to use all my cds and move continuously, but it was doable.
Fun fact: Darion Mograine appears to help you when Bloodbane is around 50% HP I believe. First time around, I died just as Darion Mograine spawned to help me. I released and rushed back to engage Bloodbane and Darion was still there (afk not fighting). Another Darion appeared on my second attempt so this resulted in me having 2 Darion Mograines helping me when Bloodbane went down to 50% HP, he melted in literally 3 seconds afterwards, was funny. Give it a try :D

Mograine caught up with me while you were off and told me that he found where Orbaz is hiding. Under Icecrown Citadel itself, there is an immense pit - you will find Orbaz just outside its lip.

Some of the Ebon Blade's strongest agents have already been dispatched - gather aid and join the fight. It is time for Bloodbane to die.
