These rider quests are strange, they are phased when you enter the area the mobs are in. People not on the questline will not be able to help you, heal you, or hit the mob. Very irritating if you can't find a party on the same quest.

Solo'ed at level 80 as a Frost Mage shortly after hitting 80 in mostly Heroic and 10-man Nax gear.

Hardest rider by far for a Mage to solo. Burn any pots you happen to have. Right before you pull him clear as much of the area as you can with an AoE pull then get right on him, don't even stop to loot. Everything in the area respawns in about a minute so even with the lead time you're going to end up dealing with multiple adds. Use pet novas and whatever else you can to keep them off you. Also you must save blink for his Death Grips.

I'd also highly recommend the fallowing for all three riders...

Just did this with myself (shadow priest) and a ret pally. I had to heal him, but it worked out. Only had to use one mana potion.

Very hard to solo due to the following reasons
1. He hits hard, about 1600 or more on 20K armor
2. He has the dancing rune weapon ability
3.The mobs around him respawn very fast. Respawn timer is about 1min or so, making kiting him extremely difficult.

As a quest geared blood death knight, I died twice trying to solo him. The first time was due to lack of preparation and the second time due to adds. I was able to beat him the third time. And here is what I did.
1.Got the buff items from the Bone Witch.
2.Killed a few mobs around to make sure that I had 100 RP, a ghoul and horn of winter buff.
3. Used Dancing rune weapon at the beginning of the fight.
4.When he summoned his dancing rune weapon, I used frost fortitude, I didn't have Lichborne anyway.
5.I moved to a place a little southwest of the furnace thing on the ground to avoid adds.

To do the 3 "boss" quests, members of your party have to all either be on the quest or have done the quests. This is a new feature blizzard put in where anyone not up to or past the quest chain will phase out of the area. So before you get a group together, make sure they are all on this quest or have done it in the past, otherwise you are gonna be in a situation where they cant see you or help you.

Very easy for any prot paladin. The summoned runeblade is registered as undead, so fear it as soon as it spawns (easier if you have the instant cast glyph). Just make sure you are far enough away from adds so the blade won't run to them.

IMO hardest one, his runic weapon hits hard. I just popped Army of the Dead for this one, and dpsed him down, quite simple.

Soloable as a 80 Unholy DK , the hardest is the Unholy one , died once but after that I kited him around , avoid the Zombies and Death Decay . The Blood and the Frost is much easier .

I solo'd all 3 of them as a holy paladin.

Frost was a simple tank'n'spank fight. Holy shock/Exorcism/Judge/Concecration/Shield of the Righteous whenever cooldown is ready. Sacred shield + heals to keep yourself alive.

Blood's rune blade is stunnable and disappears after a while so use HoJ if it's up, it also counts as undead so Holy wrath can also be used as a stun if mana allows. I found it much easier to tank them 'till they disappear rather than doing 12k damage on something when you need all your damage on the elite.

Unholy was a challenge, but I managed him first try. Just avoid Death and Decay and run like 50 yards away when he starts to summon zombies, Holy wrath if they're closing in on you and get away from them again. Keep trying 'till you down him.

Very easy quest, soloed by an 80lvl tank DK(Unholy). Just spam the Death Strike and use Anti-Magic Shell if casting.

Killed him solo as enhancement. in half epic half blues and no enhancement glyphs.

Used foodbuff and 3 runes from the witch. used fireelemental + dogs and simply nuking him down asap. have 31.5% dmg reduction from armor, and this was enough, that the dogs and the rune kept me up while i could use all MW for LB damage, getting him to 3% before dogs died.

The key is pure DPS + hp pot if needed.

Soloed as Holy Pally, didn't break a sweat.

Just keep judging wisdom and use Seal of Wisdom, spam Consecration, Holy Shock, Sacred Shield, ignore the runeblade, it will die in your aoe. Your insta cast flash of lights from your holy shocks will keep you up.

Soloed as Protection Warrior. (Naxx 10 gear)

Was pretty basic, used commanding shout to put me at 30k hp. Popped Shield Wall and Last stand near the end, as it was getting to be a close fight. Ended with 8000hp.

Seems immune to stuns.

Solo as demonology Warlock.
Let the Felguard tank and heal with Health Funnel.
Dot Baelok with Curse of Agony or Corruption and mind your aggro!
Let the dancing runeblades hit you. They will die itself and you will survive it.
Use bandages, healthstones and pots or Drain Life. (or Lifeblood if you're Herbalism like me)
Use Demon Armor, it helps.

Just be patient and don't start Shadowbolting him unless you know for sure you are gonna win.

Solo as a Hunter.
Send in pet with MD, lay a trap down to freeze the dancing runeblade.
Keep mend pet up all the time, if pet gets around 20% distracting shot and deterrance tank til he gets up.
Repeat til hes dead, will take a few tries but it is doable.

Very easy as an 80 frost spec dk with quest gear (no purples, mostly level 80 quest blues). The spec I use is 20/80 using glyph of rune tap and a healing clicky, giving you lots of self heal goodness.

1. Start the fight away from wandering adds.
2. Wait until he summons the rune blade and summon ghoul
3. Take enough damage that your death pact will give you a full heal then let the ghoul take agro for a sec.
3. Start casting army of the dead, once this is fully up you will have greatly reduced damage and they will take the agro of his dancing run weapon.
4. Sacrifice the ghoul, you're back to full health.
5. ...
6. Profit!

Seriously, once you have army of the dead up, it becomes a straight tank and spank, I don't think I even used death strike once I had the army up, and he was dead in about 30 seconds.

Obviously this strategy requires that you don't have AoD on cooldown, but if you do, go do one of the other three for this quest chain (the frost dk is probably the easiest, i killed her without even a ghoul, death strike and rune tap were enough) and come back.

As a death knight it was quiet easy. Go in frost pres. use army of the dead, let them attack and dont take aggro from them, use icebound, pet, dancing rune if youre blood.

Solo'd as a prot warrior in full naxx gear. Very easy, his main damage he will deal to you is from Draw Soul which deals a bit over 4,000 damage each time he uses it and heals him for the same. He will also cast dancing rune weapon. The weapon uses blood strike and it IS stunnable, but despawns after about 20 seconds. Not really a huge threat. I killed the first couple, then ignored the rest because they dont really do a lot. He has a somewhat slow melee swing, hits about as hard the unholy guy. Nothing too special. A bit harder than saph but easier than Rokir.

Most definitely doable as a 80 Ret pally in quest blues, some greens. Just make sure to kill the Dancing Runeblade of his as soon as it pops up, and the rest is cake. Just heal yourself when you reach about half health.

Very Soloable as a demo spec Warlock.

1. Begin fight with cast of Curse of Weakness. And keep the curse on throughout.
2. Stay out of his cast range for Death Grip. (Max range for casting Immo, or Corr.)
3. He still hits very hard so after casting your DoTs maintain your pet's health.
4. Whenever he casts his Dancing Runeblade let it come to you, and fear it. The length of the time on fear will cause it to do no damage and fail epicly.
Rinse - Wash - Repeat.
Bandage when necessary, pref. after dancing runeblade and when your pet is at good health. Keep your DoTs hot and burning.
Don't forget your Healthstone.

It is possible to solo these bosses, but you need to pay attention to what you are doing.

here is what i did:

1. Horn of Winter
2. Bone Armor
3. Army of the Dead
4. Fight!

with the 3 starting things you can create a 6 or 7 man group for a short amount of time. long enough to do these quests but you have the 10 min wait for the army cool down.

Also as a tip for unholy.

Use Death Pact. it can heal you almost half your Health and if you build right you are without your ghoul for 30 seconds.

I'm an 80 Affl/Demo Lock, Gear is 70 Epics, 80 Blue, some crafted epics.
Found this guy pretty tough to solo initially, he did imba damage to the voidwalker, and the axe thing was a pain interrupting me.
What you need to do, is send your voidwalker in Keep a Curse of Weakness on the guy, and keep fairly close to him, use corruption, Drain Life, and keep your pet healed with health funnel. Curse of Weakness is the important key here, without it, he'll take your pet down faster than you can heal and dps.
If you keep close to him, your voidwalker should take the aggro from the dancing weapon as well, (which doesn't seem to do much damage), leaving you free to keep Corr, drain Life (and the new purple firey spell thing) on him. You don't need to run about here. It'll take about 5 mins or so to down him, and you'll still have a full health bar at the end, and barely break a sweat.

I found all 3 of the Riders Quest Bosses are Soloable if you use the right techniques. Do it wrong, they are damn hard, and you die quick. Do it right and they are very easy.

Simple to Solo as a 51/0/20 Blood DK in PvP Gear ( http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Dragonblight&n=Laralae ). Kill a couple of mobs as stated to build up 100 RP, use Horn of Winter, Pop Army of the Dead, pull mob, cast Rune Weapon and beat down. had him down to 15% by the time my army died and it was a simple after that.

guy was cake for me meta warlock. as his frost sister sent in felguard, ag, corrup, immolate, do one health funnel. he spawns the sword focus felguard on it and dot it up until it dies then have him back on bae

I was able to solo him as a unholy/blood DK - i went into frost and had out my ghoul. Used Death pack once, used Rune tap a few times. also used AOD to get aggro off of me to bandage..
otherwise, he's just a tank n spank :) good luck =D

Soloed as an 80 boomkin with 25 naxx gear, but not easy. He and the dancing weapon do serious damage and the only good opportunity for heals is when he casts something, else no chance at all. Run and heal when you're 10k hp left, 1 rejuv and 3 lifeblooms will do. Had to use it 3 times, barkskin helps but can only be used once. Have a pot handy just in case...

I was able to "duo" this as a disc priest with a shadow priest helping me (i'm alliance, he is horde). We both needed the 3 guys for this quest line killed. This guy was pretty easy, I held primary agro with a random death grip on the horde. The rune weapon didn't cause any threat to us what-so-ever. I did the usual smite, holy fire, etc and he died without a fuss.

Easy as pie affliction lock in mostly blues and few crafted epics, ebonweave set and titansteel blade. Just like frost, hit him with curse of weakness and keep it up. The dancing blade is just an irritant, never causes much damage and seems to die real quick, fear and forget. The real annoying thing about the fight is the death grip, just run to where your spell bar goes red, when your out of range for Corr, curses etc but your health funnel is still in range. Between 36 yd and 45 yd. I healed the VW most of the time, walked forward a few steps tossed in a haunt and Corr, stepped back, healed VW etc etc. Fear +/- dancing blade as needed. Omen is key for aggro management.

Frost and Blood are like killing murlocs in Elwynn Forest. Unholy has killed me 5 times.......

I just soloed the three "Rider of..." quests as a holy priest with good gear (emblems of conquest epics). You might wonder why I write this guide, well, it's a pain to find a group for those quests, because priests only bother questing when there's no one else to run instances, which makes this quest essentially impossible to get a group for except once in a blue moon.

The key to do this is to understand their respective core abilities and play accordingly. Each of those went down first try, except for the Unholy one who took me two attempts, because I was not prepared.

Baelok <rider of blood> will summon a dancing blade, has a death grip and a draw soul ability.
_death grip: pulls the target into melee range -> don't try to kite him.
_draw soul: drains life and heals back up in a frontal cone -> unimportant when soloing him
_dancing rune blade: the blade will be a pain in the butt at first, until you realize that it's essentially an add that can be killed, and that will grant you a spirit tap buff on death.

Frankly this Rider was just asking for holy nova spamming together with some lightwell tanking.
So step 1, kill the horsie (can be tanked with power word: shield and burnt down with a glyphed smite quite fast)
Step 2, lay a lightwell, wait 1min30 or so, don't drink from it yet
Step 3, pull the bad guy and smite him while refreshing the lightwell renew. He hits priest cloth for 5.5-7k (as all riders) so be steady on the lightwell refreshing, remember the hot is cancelled when he hits for more than 30% of your health. Don't worry about losing dps while clicking the lightwell, just remember you can click it while casting other spells, it won't interrupt you.
Step 4, once he summons the first dancing blade, pop your shadowfiend and mash your (glyphed) holy nova key. You will outheal the damage and you won't be interrupted because, well, holy nova is instant.
Step 5, the dancing rune blade is dead, you gain spirit tap, repeat to step 3. Put a new lightwell back up as soon as it's off cooldown.
Step 6, loot.

Sapph <rider of Frost> is horribly easy to solo. Basically the same tactic as with Baelok, except you don't even need to holy nova.
Abilities:
_Chains of Ice: trivial damage, non-trivial snare, you can't kite him.
_Hungering Cold: he will cast it just when you summon your shadowfiend. Just dispel asap it to free your pet otherwise you won't get any mana back.

All in all, same tactic as Baelok, except you will only need to holy nova when the lightwell is out of charge and on cooldown. Note you could also outheal his damage and wait for the lightwell cooldown to come back up but this will take longer. The easiest of the three.

Rokir <Rider of the Unholy> is a bit more tricky. There are two ways to do it.
First is plain and simple kiting. Just remember your Kiting 101 course you took along the way to 60 back in vanilla when you soloed Princess Theradras. Only this time you have many additional kiting tools. Use those of your preference, but keep casting at him for unlike the ugly Princess, he will reset if you don't take any harmful action at least once every 5 seconds. Plant a rotation, keep a lightwell around and remember to use it each time you go through that corner. Keep abolishing his diseases, they hurt. Shadow Word: pain, Devouring Plague, holy nova his adds once in a while (that's a guaranteed surge of light proc), instant smite on the move, all those can be combined. The adds don't proc spirit tap.

Second is PVP fighting. Consider this like duelling a very noobish melee class who never interrupts, stuns nor snare you, but with 120k hp. Go deep disc PVP, use PVP gear, kite him in between summons and nuke him straight each time he calls his army of the dead.

Soloed on the first try as a level 80 Protection Warrior in a mix of blues and ToC 5 man epics.

Pull the horse away solo and burn it down, it's not that much of a challenge. Shield Slam will dispel it's stacking buff making it much easier to handle.

As for the rider, I only used Enraged Regeneration and Shield Wall, not Last Stand and no health potions. Save Shield Block for when he summons his Rune Blade. Also note that the blade is stunnable. Keep him disarmed as much as you can, and keep Thunderclap and Demo Shout up on both him and the Rune Blade.

To clear things up, the questline needed to get rider quests: Vereth the Cunning, after this line he gives 3 simple quests to do (bomb abominations, throw rocks, kill gargoyles), then 3 rider quests become available. These are really hard quests that require a good gear or a party.

One thing to consider, that you must ask people before inviting if they have these quests, because if they have done it already or didn't get them they won't see you and riders, their location has phased. (Phasing)

actually I soloed them all as prot warrior in 187-219 gear (green-toc(h)), but this one was really fun, because after I killed him his blade still was hitting me and I was at 9k hp and somehow it managed to one-shot me, don't ask how, I don't know, my combat log is turned off.

by the way, there is absolutely no need to kill any of their horses.

Just soloed him with a lvl 80 Surv Hunter in good epic gear.
1. Misdirect on tank pet from the rise behind the fire well (no adds)
2. Burn him down til the pet loses aggro
3. Cast Freezing trap when the dancing blade spawns
4. Volley him and the blade down the rest of the way
(first attempt out in the open was a complete flop.)

The toughest of the three, definitely. Took me a fair number of attempts as a bear tank in quest gear.

Start with some HoTs, go in cat form and rip him with 4-5 combo points. Use CDs liberally to keep between 50% and 100% health. Use Survival Instincts last (I had the glyph) and go into Cat Form for another Rip or a Ferocious Bite.

Always keep Lacerate/DemoRoar/Mangle up. I finished him off with about 600 hp on my self, and his blade killed me. Don't bother killing the rune weapons.

Everyone seems to have an opinion of which of the three is the toughest. I think it varies by class and spec, and to a lesser extent by player.

On my shadow priest, this one was the most difficult for me. The other two were so easy as to not even be worth commenting. This one was a challenge: I died on the first attempt, and got him on the second.

This is how I did it: Started with PW:S and waited for the debuff to wear off. Opened with Vampiric Touch, Devouring Plague, SW:P, Mind Blast, and Mind Flay spam. Refreshed VT and DP as necessary and kept PW:S up whenever possible. When he summoned his weapon, I hit Psychic Scream to fear it. When it came back, I switched to it and killed it. Shifted out to heal with a Renew and Flash Heal at several points. (Remember to put Shadowform back up!) At one point my health was getting low so I hit Dispersion (the shadow priest's OH $%^& button) and healed up. He summoned another weapon so I feared it again, but by that time I had him low enough to finish him off.

Just solo'd this as an average geared combat rogue (245 ilvl+) and used the following strategy..I failed a few times, due to improper planning but got on the fourth try I believe (Might of been the fifth, there was a few times I went in without CD's up like a moron). Make sure your nameplates are on, so you can see the runeblade come out. I also used Wound on my MH to cut his heals down.

Open with Garrote, or you could even just rush in there with SS.
Pop SnD at 2 or 3.
Evasion/Dismantle - Only one, doesn't matter which here.
SS spam until you see the runeblade.If you have the time, drop in a Rupture/Evisc before the next steps (I got a 5pt Rupture off)
Blade Fury when you see the runeblade up and Killing Spree.
The blade should be down, and the mob should be damn near dead.

I had to Cloak his cast after I popped Spree and then finished with an Evisc. Assuming you need more time, you can use Evasion/Dismantle depending on which you didn't use. This probably will be a lot harder for quest geared rogues, but figured I would try to help out the brave solo rogues out there. Or if your like me, anyone doing quest achievements and looking for tips.

When you complete those, you get two more quests:
Seeds of Chaos
and
Amidst the Confusion, which is the one that unlocks Vereth The Cunning which begins the chain quest for the three Riders.

Soloed as a feral druid. Not easy. When I finally beat him, I was down to less than five percent health.

He killed me twice when I opened as a cat to try to get five damage points / rip. I was already at 50% health when I switched to bear.

The third time I started as and stayed on bear form throughout, using swipe every time he called up dancing rune blade.

Herbalism's lifeblood helped a lot. Used that, and a health pot, survival instincts at the very end.

Baelok is one of the few vrykul that I've ever seen rise through the ranks, and that was mostly accomplished through sheer brutality. If your competition ends up dead, there's far less to compete against.

When you join battle with him, spread out from your companions and keep your distance as much as you reasonably can. He will not hesitate to steal your life force for himself, so you will need to hinder his ability to do so as much as possible.

You have my confidence. See to it that he dies.
