the four guys for "eliminate the competition" are around the edges of the duel area, don't forget to fight them while you're out there ;)

Once they get the buff called 'Challenge Flag', feel free to engage.

And don't get too close to any of the other combatants -- they will aggro whether or not you are currently dueling.

I found the best way to do this quest and 'Eliminate the Competition' at the same time was to just walk around the ring. Dueling the named NPCs and then challenging the Mjordin Combatant, clearing out a straight path towards your next named duel.

Using AoE attacks often pulls other combatants, and killing them without dropping the flag on them will give you no credit.

I found using Typhoon knockback as a Druid pretty much always pulled someone I didn't want to.

Actually you need to just barely touch the fighter with the outer rim of the green circle to effect the challenge. DO NOT try and drop the flag in the middle of the area you will not get credit.

Something that I found worked well for this quest.

When you have the groups with two mobs fighting each other, drop the flag from max range and wait a second, one of the mobs will de-spawn and then you are free to fight them one at a time.

Works well if you are unable to self-heal.

These guys have a knockback effect. Be careful when dueling near the edge or they will knock you off to you death (like they did to me). Try to put your back to a wall or one of the spikes sticking up from the edge.

*edit* Also don't put your back towards the middle or you will aggro half the mobs there.

When you throw your flag near a pair of combattants duelling each other, only one will accept your challenge. Attacking both will only credit one win for the quest. If you wait a few seconds, the unchallenged one will despawn before the fight starts, however, so fighting them both is unnecessary.

Yeah same with me Lugian, i throw the flag at them, they come at me and i kill them but i don't get credit for it. I have been trying this then going away and doing other stuff, then a couple of days later go back and try it again and still doesn't work.

I tried for a while and was unable to gain a credit for my kills.

I had forgotten to 'leave the party' after raiding in WG last thing the night before, so effectivly, I was still in a raid... Leave the party and you get the credit for the kill right away as per...

For this quest, once you have dropped the dueling flag on a pair of combatants, the npc turns very weak and their hp goes way down. You'll find they don't hit as hard and are far easier to kill. Without the dueling flag on them, they hit like a mack truck, and they have nearly boss level hp.

Make sure you do the "eleminate the competition" quest while you're at it. These are the neutral yellow NPC's standing around the circle of combatants. Fighting them will not agro the combatants and you have to talk to them to initiate your duel with them.

At one point the combatant did his knock back on me, and he also did his jump but I caught him in the air and we faught in the air for a good 5 seconds: just like they do in Dragonball Z, Naruto, Bleach. It was really funny.

Note that I was not getting credit when I dropped the flag on a pair either; I only got credit when I dropped the flag on one who was alone and not in combat.

Don't do what I did and just drop in thinking they won't attack until you drop the flag. Aggroed about half of them.

i use the flag to target a group of two, and fight them, and win i win, no quest update. am i missing something obvious?

The first step we're going to take is at a place in Jotunheim called the Savage Ledge. It's just over the mountains to the west.

On the ledge the vrykul warriors are always sparring, being instructed in the finer arts of battle by their thane's men.

I want you to take this flag and issue a challenge to a number of them. Let's demoralize them with the 'mere' skills of a <race>, shall we?
