In build 9014 you can't aggro the packs of horses running around and drop a flash in the middle. They will all do the running away animation but you won't get credit. If all you can find is a pack, pull them out one by one.

As a hunter you just do a MD On your pet, do a volley so you pet has aggro, and throw the bomb ^^

Currently if the bomb explodes in the middle of a running pack, you get no credit at all. I've made like 10 perfect timings, and got nothing. There must be some kind of trick to do this...

Just did this today, and the western pack scared in two hits, but the eastern pack there were a couple horses that just would not scare. (The packs were smaller, 5 and 8 horses when I did it. There were some alliance wrangling them just as I was getting there). You don't need to aggro anything, just lead the moving targets.

With the packs it seemed that only the horses right outside the explosion spooked, not the ones right in the middle. With single targets it didn't seem to matter.

Found a roaming herd of them around 62,32. Throw the grenade a bit further from where they currently are. Grenade has a 2 sec. cast and a 9 sec. cooldown. A Runed Giant pats around this area, so watch out.

you can find some running along by 62,32.
you can just ride and look for the groups, throw the bomb and get this done faster.
(you can still aim single ones though).

Targeting is a little bit off for this quest - instead of leading the mobs and trying to aim where they will be, just click the targeting reticule where the mobs are. If you try to lead them, like throwing Engineering grenades, you will miss.

if your lazy, you can find the big group and find a way to AoE stun all of them. I did this as a frost mage with points in improved blizzard. with rested xp i AoE stunned all of them and used blizz doing 1k dmg per hit. after killing the big group i got a total of 20000 xp, or the equivelance of doing a quest. good grinding spot imo - also great if your a skinner like me =D

Feral Druid - Found the herd, hibernate one and root a second one as they run by. Bomb the rooted one, then root the sleeper and bomb him. Feared the whole herd in just a few minutes and had to wait for respawns for the rest.

Tactics for DK´s : Find big pack of mustangs, death and decay-pull them and then use the bomb. Got almost 15/15 with one pull.

As a mage, as soon as I saw the herd... I was like omgwtfaoe frostnova blizzard... So, frost mages might find this quest difficult to complete since you'll most likely use your implanted mage-brain and kill everything.

You should target your bomb at the place where the horses *are* when you click the item, not where they are *going to be*. I tried many times to scare the pack of roaming horses before I realized I should just be stupid and not try to lead the horses at all.

Hollerith, I was completing Horse Hollerer around 64,32 where I found some 11/15 mustangs running around. I had just targeted the group with Flash Bomb Grenade when a Runed Giand stomped to the field. My Ghoul was set on defend but somehow he interpreted that scourge
as a threat and attacked it. Well that of course spoiled my plans to scare the ponies, and I decided to kill the Runed Giant asap. So I first launched my Summon Gargoyle and it attacked cleanly the Runed Giant. Then I launched my Army of the Dead to avoid spending any of my health for useless mob. Fair enough the Runed Giant went down in seconds, but unfortunately the brainless Ghouls aggroed the the ponies - all eleven of them. And as allways in this spell, the Ghouls died away soon. They didn't live long enough to finish the eleven aggroed ponies which all started hunting me. Then I had to slaughter them alone as a very dirty handwork. What a waste. It's a pity that these ponies are not edible though they can be looted. In real life i would have piles of meat to put in to salamis and on sandwiches.

The Flashbang grenade just worked for me after I started fighting the horses.
It will not work if you use the grenade before the fight, or after killing the horses.

As of right now you can Frost Nova a whole group and toss the grenade and get credit for scaring them. But if you only need say two or three and you get a whole group, the rest of the group will go after you (meaning if you need three and you get 6 horses, the other three will go after you)

Descrizione

The Alliance's 'Westfall Brigade' is camped far to the north, near Thor Modan. They have foolishly divided their forces to contest our control of Venture Bay, and they have been left without cavalry.

They're now trying to capture and tame the wild highland mustangs that roam the area around the Westfall Brigade Encampment and Boulder Hills. We must stop them before they're able to replace their lost mounts. Take this and throw it near the horses to drive them away.
