Call to Arms (Battleground) quests circle between Alterac Valley, Arathi Basin, Eye of the Storm and Warsong gulch every day. (It's daily so you can complete only one battleground quest a day).

This, Call to Arms: Alterac Valley, is the second version of the quest, which is required to get Call to Arms!. The original differs in the quest text:

"Win an Alterac Valley battleground match and return to an Alliance Brigadier General at any Alliance capital city, Dalaran or Shattrath."
"Win an Alterac Valley battleground match and return to an Alliance Brigadier General at any Alliance capital city, Wintergrasp, Dalaran, or Shattrath."

The 2nd quest was added with WOTLK. Blizzard must have made the 1st quest a prerequisite for getting the 2nd. So if you haven't done the original Call to Arms: Alterac Valley, you'll need to do that one first before getting the 2nd, which is the one that counts toward the achievement.

For anyone who was around during TBC, this shouldn't be a problem, because you've probably done the original at some point or another. But for others, like me, who did the original version of Call to Arms: Alterac Valley and were confused why we didn't get credit toward the achievement Call to Arms!, this is why.

After the Phase 3 patch changes, this quest now gives 943 honor compared to before.

Critical troop deployments are necessary on a day by day basis. Today it is the battle for Alterac Valley that's in most need of brave combatants.

Go now, <name>, and aid the Stormpike Expedition. We cannot allow the Frostwolf Clan to get away with the violence they've inflicted on our brethren!
