I farmed for this with a level 70 warrior. It took about 8 runs through to kill him. Being a hunter, this was a great choice for me and I also went for Galgann's Fireblaster at the same time. If you are just running through for these two items, I recommend the back entrance to uldaman which is actually EAST of the entrance.

If you don't have a higher level friend to run you through it, be careful of Grimlok. As you turn the corner to get to him, he has about 3-5 mobs as bodyguards.

ive been farming for this with my hunter and a mates lvl 70 warrior (duel logging :D) and ive run the rear entry to him 13 times now and still no luck. ive had both of the other drops all the time and 2 times had nothing drop at all.

this thing has a moth of a droprate but will be worth it in the end.

this is also a good little run to make some good money for a bored lvl 60+ as the run is easy and takes about 15 mins.

Just became better than say, an Ice Barbed Spear for a hunter with the addition of 20 attack power in place of the 10 strength.

The Eyegouger used to be a comparable alternative https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=9480 but is now not in the running for some classes like Hunters who do not get any AP from strength. Grimlok may be stingy but it is worth farming if you can "double box" or have high friends to help you.

I love how with 2.3 this item went from a nice hunter weapon with a useless stat, to a freaking awesome hunter weapon.

This is a sweet hunter weapon I picked up at 42. It hits hard and has the high agility good for MM and BM. Also, the stamina helps in all aspects, especially BM for Spirit Bond and the other Pet/Hunter health increases.

Picked this sexy baby up along with the Rockshard Pauldrons as soon as I hit 40. Ran with my friend's 70, its a short trip to hit both Grimlok and the Stone Keeper. Definitely worth it...Uldaman is now a hunter-loot paradise.

This weapon owns all... As a 44 hunter i had +35 agility on it (my main.. Proud noob) and it absolutely owns all. Arathi Basin is less of a pain in the neck because i can actually kill some decent players. Ice Barb Spear is pretty good aswell but its a level 51 (atleast) item which is annoying beacause it would be helpful in Battlegrounds before the HUGE queues come rolling in. I have no idea what level this is good 'till but for a hunter in the 40's it is the best weapon by far...

Agreed. I got it on a boost at 42, and I used and loved it all the way to Rage Reaver at 58 ( Scroll up for link ). That was before 2.3, even. I was too poor to afford a +35 Agi or Savagery enchant, but if you got the cash, listen to your sanity and get one of those on it. This baby WILL last you a good deal past Ice Barbed Spear, perhaps even until Outland ( Since no groups run DM anymore x] ).

Putting Icy Weapon on this thing gives it a hilariously large glow.

Seriously, try it. You end up with a giant glowing ball of light on the end of a stick. The actual weapon is completely hidden by the glow.

I had this at level 43 - 51 with my warrior. If memory serves correctly, 1 str = 2 attack power, so this has no real adjustment in terms of AP, so I'd still grab it if the hunter in the group has no objections. Worthy of an +agi or +str enchant for that bonus AP.

There's no change for the melee AP for warriors or paladins, but changing from STR to AP made it a much better hunter weapon since hunters get no ranged AP from strength.

That's not entirely true. It's actually worse for pallies now, assuming they have speced into Divine Strength.

But it would legitimate to not spec into Divine Strength until later on after you've gotten crusader strike since you'll have more strength at that point, and thus will get more of a bonus from DS. By that point, you'll probably have found another weapon anyway.

This weapon enchanted with +35 agility is one of the best choice of a level 49 twink hunter.

This enchanted with 35 agility vs Ribsplitter of Monkey x2, both enchanted with +20 agility

Aaaaaaand that's it!

That's the stat difference. Two Ribsplitters of Monkey may cost you 200-1000g depending on server, and two +20 agility will cost nearly four times as much as a +35 agility on two-hander. Finding the Ribsplitters, whether on AH or in BRD may take weeks and months of farming/AH watching, and there is only 10% chance for the said Ribsplitter to be of Monkey and not something else.

This seems like a very very good alternative to me for level 49 hunter twinking.

Was kinda funny when I got this polearm. It reminded me of sonic spear. If you compare it with sonic spear, besides the look, but the icon and the stats shown is alike.

Im a 40 bm hutner, and this dropped and me and a ret pally needed it. To my dismay, he won, only to replace it with https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=9413 at the end of the instance.

I tried Ulda as a group to get this for my hunter but failed. So I went back at 45 and soloed Grimlok easily, not one death in the 3 attempts it took to get the drop.

I used a gorilla pet and stam food buff but nothing else. It's a really easy trip through the back door.

I got Savagery (70 AP) enchanted - cheap at today's prices - and it gave me 105 AP overall!

As of 3.0.8, druids can use polearms, and this becomes one of, if not, the best weapons a feral can get before Outland and Agamaggan's Quill.

I got it on my hunter at level 40 and kept it until about level 55, probably a bit long but I just LOVED it. Totally worth getting a +25 agi enchant early on because your not gonna find a weapon as good as this until maybe Ice Barbed Spear (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=19106) but even then it's Strength vs. Attack Power. It's worth getting rid of it to replace it with either the 2H Axe or the Staff from this quest (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=10123) but it is in Outlands which means you have to hit 58 before you can get either of them. Good weapon, worth keeping, and of course some Dual Wields might match the stats but theres always that Attack Power and nothing beats the look of a polearm ;).

I say use vanquisher and force of the hipogryph both with agi enchants on them, and forget grimlok's... and leave this baby for druids in your party. if you have the time compare them if not trust me I already did it and dual-wielding the above mentioned is better... if you don't care much about HP.

Ran Uldaman earlier today, had no idea this weapon was here. When it dropped, I needed and a ninja, a gnome warrior, asked if he could need it because his off-spec was arms. Funny thing is that he wasn't even level 40. He also didn't wait to see what everyone said, and ninja'd it from me. And it was a really good upgrade for me. Granted I wasn't trained in polearms but I would have made more of a use of it than he would have.

While it's probably easier to find a group for Uldaman now with cross-realm dungeons, this is fairly easily solo'd with a Beast Master Hunter in the mid 40's, though somewhat time consuming unless you get lucky with drops. It's fairly quick to solo in the high 40's, and very much worthwhile to do so, because this will last you right up until your early quests in the Outlands. Ice Barbed Spear doesn't compare to this polearm in terms of ranged attack power (21 RAP for IBS vs. 35 RAP for Grimlok's Charge), so if you do AV you are much better off getting Bloodseeker from the AV quest.

While you're soloing for this polearm, you can also hit the Ancient Stone Keeper for Rockshard Pauldrons (unless you have Heirloom shoulders of course). The Rockshard Pauldrons can also easily last you until you're into the Outlands. The Ancient Stone Keeper is harder to solo in the mid 40's though, so either get them in a regular dungeon group or learn to play the class well while you're leveling it up.

I've solo'd for these now with two different hunters, first hunter (around Wrath launch) got both items in her first solo run around level 47. Second hunter took quite a few runs to get them. Did one run at 46, a couple at 47 and probably 6 or 7 at 48 before I finally got both (shoulders dropped in the run right before the run that the polearm dropped).

An awesome mid-level weapon for hunters who are running Uldaman at the time. At the 40's, don't waste the time of putting an agility enchant on, go with a + damage enchant if you really crave a nice glow.

I realize it's your $15 a month and you can be silly if you want, but you should really be practical and choose the enchant with the most statistical benefits. Passing over a best-in-slot enchant that will increase your performance just for a garbage enchant that "looks cool" is retarded. After the people who put +35 agility on this polearm get to you, you can stand around and look cool at the graveyard with your +5 weapon damage or icy enchant.

I got this on my first run thru Ulda. The stupidest thing happened tho...we had an idiotic ninja looter in our group. He said that he needed this to gve to his 42 hunter (ummm...duh BoP). So i had needed and he needed. The gods musta been watching over me cuz he rolled a 14 and i rolled a 97. i am glad he didnt win. BTW im a hunter he was a rogue.

I remember when I went my first Ulda run on my hunter, I had just finally gotten my Vanquisher's Sword to go with Sword of Omen... and this drops for me. I had been so glad I got the swords, so I wasn't sure about using this polearm, but this really is a great hunter weapon, so I learned polearms and used it until 5 levels later when I got a Stoneraven cheap in the auction house.
I can't wait to run Ulda with my warrior, since I'll probably get the Ice Barbed spear once I hit 51 and if I used Grimlok, my polearm would already be leveled to the max.

In response to Irongiant's post, I said Hunters aren't rolling for the +str - it's just an added bonus. So, unless "I use Spirit but I wouldn't roll need for it" is refering to something else and not something I posted, please read what people say before you find a reason to disagree with them.

And yes, strength is useful to Hunters, not as much as most stats I'll admit. But attack power refers to both melee and ranged attack powers.

This is a hunter wepon, plain and simple. there is no doubt that warriors and paladins could also make good use of it, but hunters just need this more.

I have run this intsance 28 times and counting ( yes alot isnt it?) still no spear.... i started at lvl 36 im now 42 and still running... my bro is running me thru all day nearly everyday to get this, he is a 70 undead fire mage and can get the runs to him down to 15 mins... we skip all the other bosses and other stuff... hope it drops soon cos im getitng sick and tired of all these gay runs.... Good luck guys and hope u rnt all as cursed as me.... im putting a 35 agi onto it and grabbing the AV xbow so i'll be soo gear... just 1 thing..... i've made over 200g selling alot of stacks of mageweave and silk and all of my gear has been replaced with greens and blues from there... im soo geared and really wanting... as i said GOOD LUCK!

in the test server it has still got the same DPS, damage, speed, agility +, stamina +, but now the strength is gone and it adds 20 attack power instead :)

I had this weapon from lvl 40 to lvl 50, it is one of the best weapons for hunters at that lvl range, when you hit fifty one the Iced Barbed Spear is ur next upgrade in weapons.

For poster(s) above asking between Grimlock's Charge and StoneRaven for a 49 "Twink" BattleGround (BG) Hunter...

The answer MAY depend somewhat on how you play your hunter... If you are "Survivalist" & go Melee alot your mileage may vary (not my thing)... If you are someone who focuses on using ranged attacks & pet like me, I prefer to use my melee weapon like a trinket that helps me with my ranged weapon AND helps make my pet a real threat to contend with.

For me the primary stats are:
- Agility (gives AP, Crit, & armor);
- Ranged Attack Power (+damage, + Pet's AP & spellDmg);
- Stamina (health & Pet's Health);
- Note: The rest, including spirit are not focused on for PVP as you typically don't live long enough in a given battle to benefit from spirit... I quaff BG Potions like candy so I replentish mana or health according to the situation & if I survive a battle I use BG bandages & food to ready for the next...

I currently have StoneRaven but actually prefer to use the "BeHeading Blade of Power" with Savagery on it (+116AP total). I am currently trying to get Grimlock's Charge (have killed him twice today with no luck) as to me it has possibly the best overall stats (see below). Note the below is assuming that, like me, you are going to put Savagery on your weapon of choice:

- BeHeading Blade of Power: +46AP
Net Ranged: +116RAP but NO agility (my current weapon);
Stamina: +0;
(+46 base total for areas I care about)

- Grimlock's Charge: +15agi, +20AP, +15stam;
Net Ranged: +105RAP w +15agi for crit...
Stamina: +15;
(+50 base total for areas I care about)

- StoneRaven: +13agi,+15sta,+13str,+9spi;
Net Ranged: 83RAP w +13agi for crit...
Stamina: +15;
(+28 total for areas I care about)

I really like the BeHeading Blade of Power but think that Grimlock's Charge might be the better overall weapon (+50 total vs +46 and note that agi trumps AP) & both beat StoneRaven (+28 for what I care about). Grimlock's Charge should give my pet & I more survivability (+15stam) with slightly less overall damage (-11RAP for me and less for pet but offset by +15agi for more crits);

Lastly, if anyone sees a problem with this logic please point it out or if anyone knows of a better weapon for 49 MarksMan or Beast Master focused hunter please post them...

Came back cuz I did get GC & put Savagery on it for my 49 hunter (took forever to get my polearm skill up to 49)...

In regards to "breakalliance"'s Question, if you are Horde and going into 49 BGs then NO, stick with X'caliboar or the 2H axe U have and don't read what I already posted above which should give you the tools to compare any weapon for a ranged hunter.

Note that the only commentary that I can add is that I belive my above analysis is good for any ranged focused hunter but if you are MarksMan (MM) you may want may want to even put more focus on Agility as I think they benefit even more from Agility than straight Attack Power with certain talents.

FYI, I am a BeastMaster (BM) spec and currently have a self-buffed AP of 779 at 49th level. I especially like defending the flag with a Paladin and a MM Hunter bcuz my pet and I both get a Trueshot Aura and a Blessing of Might & the Paladin makes a great survivable target while we mow down the attackers.

I just did Uldaman 3 times yesterday.. didn't drop once. Then i did it today again, it droped and some other hunter (lvl 40) that can't even use it yet won the roll... great! X_X

My sister and I have been running Ulda pretty much all weekend trying to get gear for my hunter. Well this dropped today! YES, hunters can use polearms if you buy the ability (you can buy it from the weapons trainer in SW for about... 90s if I remember correctly). Another party member and I need rolled it... and I won! It is a MUCH better upgrade from my previous 2H Axe (Thermaplugg's Left Arm).

Got it yesterday and I have to say that this is a great Hunter weapon, nice stat bonusses and decent damage for its level.
A bit slow, but it still beats any 2h-axe in its level range.

Sent an e-mail with 3 pics of it to Darkflame so I guess it will be in the next update.

We easily dropped him with group range 41-44
and we where 4 people only, too.

Priest,warrior,shammy and a hunter.

The hunter was the lucky guy that day, got the charge and the boomstick of Firehammer earlier that day.

Went to Uldaman today with my hunter and a few others(Pick Up group) and this dropped...I was the ONLY ONE who could use this in the group..but a Mage Need rolled it and won....GRAHHH!

This is probably a good weapon for my Hunter until like when i cna get Ice Barbed. It has nice stats but then there r some 2h axe and swords that pwns in Agi that i focus on. So if u get it that's great but if u don't get it liek the 5th or 6th time jsu quit at it their.

Picked this one up yesterday night, no hunters in the group so I got it as a nice replacement to the Whirlwind Axe I had been using for the past 12 levels.

Me (43 Warrior) and my friend (60 priest) easily made it to him from the back door a couple of times, but he never dropped the polearm for me. However, it really is not that difficult if you make smart pull and catch runners. Watching Holy Nova actually be useful on the scorpids was the best part though.

It dropped for me today... it sucked ass. There was two tanks (myself and level 60), a druid, and 2 hunters. The druid passed (obviously) and so did the high level tank, alright I thought, I'm getting this. But nope, both Hunters rolled and both got higher rolls than I did. Yep, life's good.

This is a great weapon.

It adds 1% to my crit, 50ish HP, and 30AC, while only losing a touch of damage that the bonechewer gave me. And that was almost negated by a guildie, who put the +7 damage effect on it.

Oh, and I think it's a touch faster than my Bonechewer, like .1 seconds.
