Really nice Tanking legs :P Going to be insane to get the primordial saronite for if your collecting those for the shadowmourn quest though. that and getting 12 titan steel is going to be very expensive. 1200g at the least if your servers AH prices them at 100g. Their 160g each on Winterhoof, horde side. at least itll be easy to get the plans if your getting rep from quests as well as killing scourge.

These are amazingly itemised. The massive bonus armour (1190) and boatloads of stamina (and str) provide a lot of mitigation from physical attacks. With chill of the throne present, the large parry and dodge stats should help to maintain some level of avoidance.

Interestingly, there is no defence on these legs which isn't such a bad thing. My warrior has fallen behind in terms of gearing up but even so sits at +560def and this number is only higher for most TOGC25 geared tanks. By removing defence as a stat on these legs more stat points can go to much needed mitigation.

As an aside, It would be funny to see a warrior or DK use these legs in PVP. Extra parry would mean faster swing on your next hit, they have incredible mitigation stats, the armour would convert nicely into attack power and they could be well customised with gems.

on the contrary, defense is THE BEST avoidance stat warriors can get.

if these legs had defense instead of dodge or even instead of the parry i would have bought them in a heartbeat. but armor is just not worth throwing away that much defense imo. (for the same reason i choose to use the old throwing weap from toc25 badges rather than the new crappy rowans rifle).

41 defense rating = 1% avoidance + 0,33% block chance
45.25 dodge rating = 1% dodge
45.25 parry rating = 1% parry

this means that instead of the ~3% avoidance (70 dodge rating + parry rating), these legs could have 3,2% avoidance + 0,6% block chance (70 defense + 70 dodge or parry rating)

these legs could have been so nice, but was so horribly itemized, even deathknights who cant block benefit more from defense :(

Its true we are all over the defense minimum ("cap" is a horrible term for it) but we are not 80 defense over the cap. (the pants many of us would replace with these) These should have some defense on them , otherwise we have to gem for it, which means losing stamina...

Still a great item, but not so great of a choice to have NO def on them.

You can always throw a +20 def gem in the yellow socket if you feel so nervous with your total defense....

Blizz is clear about this. Mitigation of damage.

Meaning that defense and avoidance tanks is not the solution in ICC. What good is your avoidance when your 1 single hit among the oterh 20 that you avoided hits you for 40k if it's not mitigated...? :)
