This mace is entirely underwhelming... no stam, crit or haste which makes me prefer other options. Pure spellpower can only go so far. Doesn't matter if you're a priest, druid, sham or pally the WA rep reward is preferable to this one.

Since 3.0 hit, the distinction between DPS and healer items has been practically eliminated.

This is not a dps-only weapon, this is not a healer-only weapon. This is a CASTER weapon. Players who use spellpower should all get to roll for it.

Rogues, on the other hand, should pass.

Divine Plea is not the anwser to all of paladin mana issues. There really is not mana problem with paladins per say ATM but divine plea does reduce your healing. In a nice big raid your not gonna wanna reduce you healing by 20% to get mana back. If you are at a boss that Fenzies lets say you HL for 8k roughly 8000 * .20 = 1600. So 8000-1600 = 6.4k done on a holy light. Thats is sizeable difference when it comes down to the raw healing that you need in some encounters. Mp5 still plays a big part in the overall scheme of a pallys mana pool.

I don't understand what the above poster is talking about and frankly I have no clue where his comment came from, but I couldn't let something like this sit.. No, divine plea is -not- the answer to all paladin's mana issues, but neither is mp5. Haste, spell power, crit rating, int, and mp5 should be a paladin's priority. Divine plea is an extremely useful spell, and when combined with illumination and divine illumination a paladin should never run out of mana. Honestly, I've healed every encounter there is released so far in WotLK and have never thought about needing more mana regen. I'm rocking a modest 378 mp5 while not casting for those who are curious.

With that said, I wouldn't completely overlook this weapon while gearing up for Naxxramas. I am still using this and am waiting on The Turning Tide, Hammer of the Astral Plane, or Torch of Holy Fire (preferably The Turning Tide) to drop from Kel'Thuzad in Naxxramas.

As for your math, there has also never been an encounter where I have needed stronger heals as oppossed to more mana, especially with how long my mana pool lasts with the use of divine plea. Take 25-man Sartharion for instance. On that boss I pull around 3500 HPS on average, while using mana-regaining abilities such as divine plea and divine illumination. Excluding Loatheb, I've yet to encounter a fight where divine plea is absolutely unnecessary, especially when there are other healers to make up for the raw healing lost. Look at it this way:

25% total mana gained over 15 seconds.
20% less amount healed over 15 seconds.

As you see here, there is a net gain, and moreso of a gain if you are spamming flash of light during those 15 seconds, since the 12 or so casts you have (rather than 10 casts, due to haste on gear and Judgements of the Pure) do not nearly equal the 25% mana your are gaining.

And finally, your numbers... 8k HL in a 25-man raid? (of course, you saying "nice big raid" leads me to assume 25-man) What are you smoking?

TL;DR version: Divine Plea ftw.

It has really low drop rate... or maybe I'm just unlucky. It says 19% drop chance. Well didn't get it in four runs. Hope it will drop soon, but i have never seen it dropped.

bah, i hate nexus and im really bored of it. Did it now for seven times now and still not dropped. Every time i do it, I try to get ppl who has better weapon or cant use maces so when it will finally drop (soon i hope) i can get it... :P

I'm a holy priest and the stories of pallies and druids losing this to enhancement shaman and mages just sicken me.

These are the same mages and enhance shaman that will soon be whining about how they can never get a group because healers wont come with them.

Spellpower = fail.

I only do instances with melee now if i can help it.

In my opinion, this is superior to the TG once the nerf hits. The mp5 is better than the crit rating even for Holy Pallies, since the Intel on this baby vs. the Stamina on TG makes up for a big chunk of crit. I'd go TG for PvP, War Mace for PvE unless you're having some health issues PvE.

This is a solid Prot Pali weapon. The +spell power helps with threat generation through holy spells (the main way palis hold aggro), and the +mp5 is helpful in off-healing roles as well.

I've tried for this mace at least 25 times now. Lost 2 rolls, once to a spriest who claimed that he would heal in raids even though his name is iaredps :) And the second time I lost it was to a boomkin.

Um....I think the estimate that the war mace and that belt (that taunts me every time it drops) have the same droprate is bs. I've run this 7x, I've seen the belt every. SINGLE. TIME. I'll just keep doing it until I get that mace. If someone else needs on it, so help me God....

Wow... I really did not know that so many people had this much trouble having it drop! I had just started running heroics (Resto Druid) and this dropped first time. I had a great enough group that everyone let me have it. Good luck for those people who still don't have it.

The 3.0.8 patch added the "Increases attack power by 468 in Cat, Bear, Dire Bear, and Moonkin forms only." to the description. Good on Blizz for trying to make items useful to a wider crowd and avoid things like this becoming vendor trash or a shard. Bad on Blizz for making me have to roll against yet another class for stuff. Glad I already got mine, now if they could just change it to read, "Increases attack power by 468 in Cat, Bear, Dire Bear, Ghost Wolf and Moonkin forms only."

To everyone confused as to why it is showing feral attack power :

To homogenize weapons a little more and give feral druids a bit more options more than just staffs with direct + feral attack power in them, they added a hidden amount of feral AP into each weapon, regardless of whether they can use it or not.

On WoWhead, it will show the amount of hidden feral attack power, but in game, you will only see it in the tooltip if you are a druid.
(Druids will see feral attack power on items they can't use such as two handed axes, and such.)

If you are any other class, it will omit it out, and you will only see the other base stats of the weapon.

This is a good mace to start off with to pair with Handbook of Obscure Remedies for resto druids and disc/holy priests until an upgrade from Naxx 25 or Ice Spire Scepter from Malygos 10.
Holy paladins and resto shaman may see the appeal in this as well.

The intellect on this mace is huge when comparing it to the titansteel guardian. Not only does the intellect add a little bit of spell crit making up for some of the rating on the guardian, but the mp5 on this, ADDED to what you get through replenishment (by adding more to your maximum mana), give this a huge return on mana.

I do wish there was at least a little bit of stamina on it to get the healers up to a decent hp pool early.

So, I'd suggest 50 spell power to this mace, though if you raid often and will be using this, AND you sometimes have mana problems, it might be a good decision to put the newest Intellect enchant on it for even more regen. Not sure how expensive that enchant is compared to 50sp though.

Ive run HNexus 17 times, and she has never dropped this mace for me. Im stuck using the Flameheart Scalpal, and thats not even a good healing weapon. Either the drop rate of 19% is way wrong, or I just have terrible luck -_-

As a Discipline Priest, I'd find this a nice improvement over the Titansteel Guardian, and here's why:

Stamina is obviously not the highest priority for the healer, so the extra intellect will be a huge boost (I originally got the Titansteel for PvPing)
The loss of spellpower can be made up by a spellpower enchant.
The mp5 is just as good as spirit, if not better. Remember, discipline priests don't rely on spirit to factor into their +healing.

That said, this will be an improvement for some DPSers out there. If you're pugging, you better make sure they don't want it / don't need it before you go running into the instance with them if you want it. Most people in pugs don't care if it's a better improvement for the healer, even if said DPS is sure to find something better later.

I'd say this is the premiere pre-raid holy paladin main hand. If you're stuck running heroics for the time being, make the most of your time and grab some reputation epics and save your money by running nexus for a couple days for this. There's also a nice healing neck off of the 3rd boss.

actually as far as I understand in 3.1, this will be a much better choice than the Titansteel guardian for Disc Priests following current mana regen theories (stacking crit, int and sp instead of spi)

Mostly because of the +int on this mace.

Rapture before 3.1 rapture was the main mana regen of a raiding Disc Priest- whenever you healed or your shields absorbed damage you got some mana back. Raiding disc priests all over the land were finishing fights like Patchwerk with 60% mana.

In 3.1. Rapture is getting the nerf bat- in 3.1 you only get mana back when your PW:Shield is dispelled or breaks.

As the PTR has it now, if you have 3/3 Rapture, when your shield bursts, you get 2.5% of your total mana returned to you.

If you have a mana pool of 20000, you get 500 mana back.
but if you only have 15000 mana, you only get 375 back.

RezTheWeak crunches the numbers and finds that if you have a mana pool of 22k of bigger, ever PWS you cast will end up gaining you mana assuming it's dispelled or breaks (with 3/3 mental agility and the new soul warding talent)

I'm not sure why people are arguing over whether this mace and TG is better than each other. Both serve as pre-raiding gear, and they should be replaced fairly quickly, so there; nothing to argue about.

But yes, this is an excellent pre-raiding weapon to loot when healers hit level 80; they should grind the living energy out of H Nexus until they get this, then probably Utgarde Keep for the epic ring; these two heroics are, imo, the easiest heroics to begin with.

Post 3.2 pre-raid Holy Paladin weapon comparison.

There are four pre-raid epic weapons for healing paladins.

The first is Titansteel Guardian. Alas, the largest benefit of the TSG is that it is incredibly easy to obtain - it only requires gold. It lacks what is widely recognised as the strongest single stat for holy paladins: int. Following the Illumination nerf (only 30% of the mana cost of a spell restored on a crit instead of 60%), the crit on this mace isn't bad, but perhaps not as useful as some other stats could be.

The second is/are the Champion's Seal bought sword(s) Blade of the Kening Banshee and Gnomeregan Bonechopper. These take all the stats of the Titansteel Guardian, lower them, and in exchange gain intellect (plus hit, but that is mostly useless, so it doesn't really count). Having more mana is almost greatly appreciated by a holy paladin. They are fairly easy to acquire as well, only requiring a few days of specific quests.

Third is War Mace of Unrequited Love. Due to the illumination nerfs, and the 25% buff to mp5, this mace is now very strong for holy paladins. The loss of stamina is not bad, and the very healthy int on this mace is wonderful. However, as a heroic instance drop, it is harder to acquire than either of the Champion's Seal swords, or the TSG.

The fourth pre-raid epic healing weapon blows them all away. Mariel's Sorrow drops in heroic Trial of the Champion, and is about a 10% drop from Eadric's cache, thus probably only a 5% drop per run since Eadric only shows up half the time. Good luck. Granted, if you are successfully healing h-ToC, you probably already have one of the above weapons, but it is technically a pre-raid holy paladin weapon. In short, it combines all the best stats from the other pre-raid epics. Haste would be nice, but haste is basically a stat you gear for on a holy paladin once you have all your other stats in line.

Even though the main stats are much better (aside from losing Mp5), Blade of Tarasque is NOT a healer weapon. See that "Equip: Improves hit rating by 45" on the dagger? That means caster DPS over healer item. I would suggest letting DPS roll on this first... If they all have better, then I suppose you can snag it, though I don't know how you got to ToC 25 as heals with a weapon that you would consider this an upgrade to... Mariel's Sorrow is an upgrade to this in almost every way and it drops from H ToCh as mentioned above...

A great weapon for a holy priest. The spellpower on it is insane! I got this last week on my priest in a pug, beating out a couple of mages/warlocks. But I was using https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=37169 before so it is a huge upgrade! I can now heal those mages/locks better with the extra spellpower.

I killed Keristrasza Heroic 30 times and I've seen it drop only twice. Instead of the 20% drop chance, a 7% drop chance would be more accurate.

This dropped on my first run of Heroic Nexus, I didn't realize how lucky I apparently am for that until reading some of the comments here. I play a holy paladin, and this mace has been amazing so far. I don't really like the idea of cutting down my heal power for mana using divine plea (I think of that more as a tank skill and have it up constantly while tanking, never when healing), so it's awesome to have the intellect and mp5 this offers. I didn't have mana issues before either, but why not enjoy the extra mp5 while I can get it?

Edit: Further down the line in gear, I find I use divine plea all the time and it's amazing and I was silly to ever post this. :P
