Gluth should be positioned near the exit door of the room. This puts the most distance between Gluth and the Zombie Chow enemies that spawn from the grates in the front of the room. The Chow need to be kept away from Gluth!

Gluth will apply a stacking Mortal Wound debuff on his primary target. If your raid cannot kill Gluth very quickly, this will require a tank swap because it will become impossible to heal the first tank after a while.

Sometimes the Zombie Chow are handled by a caster like a Mage, other times they are handled by a tank like a Paladin or Death Knight. Whoever is handling the Chow, their job is to generate threat on them and kite them around the back of the room, keeping them far away from Gluth.

Tips for Melee on Gluth

Roll up to the boss, start blasting. Not much that this boss does should really concern you as a melee damage dealer. You shouldn't have to worry about the Zombie Chow, those are other players' responsibility to deal with usually.

A rogue can use Anesthetic Poison II to remove Gluth's Enrage which is cast about every 15 seconds. Usually this is a last resort because rogue poisons are very important for their damage output - using this instead of their normal poisons is a pretty substantial loss of damage.

Tips for Ranged on Gluth

A hunter can use Tranquilizing Shot to remove Gluth's Enrage which is cast about every 15 seconds.

When the Decimate happens, ranged damage dealers will need to kill any Zombie Chow before they reach Gluth. The Decimate will cause them all to drop to very low health, but also force them to ignore everything else and slowly lurch directly towards Gluth.

Tips for Healers on Gluth

Healers will need to worry about the main tank on Gluth and whoever is assigned to kite the Zombie Chow. Usually a competent kiter will take very little damage, but you need to be there to heal them back up when they do take damage.

The main tank will receive a stacking Mortal Wound debuff that reduces their healing received. If the boss isn't killed super quickly, this will usually require a tank swap. Up until the tank swap, it will become increasingly more difficult to keep the tank alive.

After Decimate everyone in the raid including the tanks will be reduced to about 5% health. The Zombie Chow will head straight for Gluth, so the only player who should be taking any damage is the main tank on Gluth, making them the only healing priority.

Ability

Description

Mortal Wound

Mortal Wound is a stacking debuff that will be frequently applied to Gluth's primary target. Eventually it will stack high enough that the tank will not be healable and another tank will need to take over who is not afflicted with stacks of Mortal Strike.

Enrage

Gluth will frequently enrage, increasing his rate of attack. This can be removed by a hunter's Tranquilizing Shot or other similar enrage-removal effects.

Decimate

Decimate is first used about 2 minutes after engaging Gluth. It will drop the current health of all players and all Zombie Chow to 5% of their maximum health. It will also cause all Zombie Chow to ignore their current threat and lurch slowly towards Gluth.

Zombie Chow

Zombie Chow will spawn from the grates near where you drop into Gluth's room. They move slowly and afflict anyone they hit with a stacking debuff called Infected Wound. If a Zombie Chow gets close to Gluth, Gluth will charge towards it and devour it, healing Gluth.
