Druid Class Basics in Wrath of the Lich King Classic

Balance: Balance Druids provide high AoE damage with Starfall and Hurricane. Moonkin Form provides 5% spell crit for their party/raid group, and Improved Faerie Fire provides 3% spell hit.

Feral (DPS): Feral Druids provide competitive single-target damage and a unique raid buff with Improved Leader of the Pack. They also have high mobility with Feral Swiftness, Dash, and Feral Charge - Cat, and good personal survivability with Survival Instincts. They can also off-tank with great effectiveness even without putting talent points into tank-oriented talents.

Feral (Tank): Feral Tank Druids provide competitive tanking capabilities compared to the other tank specs due to their high single-target threat and high armor. Similar to Feral DPS, they also provide a unique raid buff with Improved Leader of the Pack.

Restoration: Restoration Druids provide strong raid healing with spells such as Wild Growth, although their kit allows the potential for tank healing with Nourish. They have great mobility due to most of their spells being instant cast, in addition to great utility in their kit.

The talents in Balance greatly enhance the damage the Druid's spell damage with abilities such as Starfall, Moonkin Form, and Insect Swarm.

Feral Combat:Takes on the form of a great cat to deal damage with bleeds and bites.

The damage-based talents in Feral Combat greatly enhance the Druid's physical damage with abilities such as Leader of the Pack, Mangle (Cat), and Berserk.

Feral Combat:Takes on the form of a mighty bear to absorb damage and protect allies.

The tank-based talents in Feral Combat greatly enhance the Druid's survivability with abilities such as Survival Instincts, Mangle (Bear), and Berserk.

Restoration:Uses heal-over-time Nature spells to keep allies alive.

The talents in Restoration greatly enhance the Druid's healing capabilities with abilities such as Wild Growth, Swiftmend, and Tree of Life.

Unique Druid Flavor and Utility in Wrath of the Lich King ClassicShapeshift Forms

Dire Bear Form: Shapeshift into dire bear form, increasing melee attack power by 120, armor contribution from cloth and leather items by 370%, and Stamina by 25%. Also protects the caster from Polymorph effects and allows the use of various bear abilities.

Cat Form: Shapeshift into cat form, increasing melee attack power by 40 plus Agility. Also protects the caster from Polymorph effects and allows the use of various cat abilities.

Aquatic Form: Shapeshift into aquatic form, increasing swim speed by 50% and allowing the druid to breathe underwater.

Travel Form: Shapeshift into travel form, increasing movement speed by 40%. Only useable outdoors.

Flight Form: Shapeshift into flight form, increasing movement speed by 150% and allowing you to fly. Cannot use in combat. Can only use this form in Outland or Northrend.

Swift Flight Form: Shapeshift into swift flight form, increasing movement speed by 280% and allowing you to fly. Cannot use in combat. Can only use this form in Outland or Northrend.

Moonkin Form (Balance): Shapeshift into Moonkin Form. While in this form the armor contribution from items is increased by 370%, damage taken while stunned is reduced by 15%, and all party and raid members within 100 yards have their spell critical chance increased by 5%. Single target spell critical strikes in this form instantly regenerate 2% of your total mana. The Moonkin can not cast healing or resurrection spells while shapeshifted.

Tree of Life (Restoration): Reduces the mana cost of your healing over time spells by 20% and grants the ability to shapeshift into the Tree of Life. While in this form you increase healing received by 6% for all party and raid members within 100 yards, and you can only cast Restoration spells in addition to Innervate, Barkskin, Nature's Grasp and Thorns spells.

Buffs

Mark of the Wild: Increases the friendly target's armor by 750, all attributes by 37 and all resistances by 54 for 30 min.

Gift of the Wild: Gives the Gift of the Wild to all party and raid members, increasing armor by 750, all attributes by 37 and all resistances by 54 for 1 hour.

Thorns: Thorns sprout from the friendly target causing 73 Nature damage to attackers when hit. Lasts 10 min.

Moonkin Aura (Balance): Increases spell critical chance by 5%.

Leader of the Pack (Feral Combat): While in Cat, Bear or Dire Bear Form, the Leader of the Pack increases ranged and melee critical chance of all party and raid members within 100 yards by 5%.

Tree of Life (Restoration): Increases healing received by raid members within 100 yards by 6%.

Debuffs

Faerie Fire: Decrease the armor of the target by 5% for 5 min. While affected, the target cannot stealth or turn invisible.

Improved Faerie Fire (Balance): Your Faerie Fire spell also increases the chance the target will be hit by spell attacks by 3%, and increases the critical strike chance of your damage spells by 3% on targets afflicted by Faerie Fire.

Insect Swarm (Balance): The enemy target is swarmed by insects, decreasing their chance to hit with melee and ranged attacks by 3% and causing 1290 Nature damage over 12 sec.

Mangle (Feral Combat): Mangle the target, inflicting damage and causing the target to take additional damage from bleed effects for 1 min. This ability can be used in Cat Form or Dire Bear Form.

Demoralizing Roar: The druid roars, decreasing nearby enemies' melee attack power by 411. Lasts 30 sec.

Support/Utility Abilities

Remove Curse: Dispels 1 Curse from a friendly target.

Abolish Poison: Attempts to cure 1 poison effect on the target, and 1 more poison effect every 3 seconds for 12 sec.

Cyclone: Tosses the enemy target into the air, preventing all action but making them invulnerable for up to 6 sec. Only one target can be affected by your Cyclone at a time.

Rebirth: Returns the spirit to the body, restoring a dead target to life with 6400 health and 4700 mana.

Revive: Returns the spirit to the body, restoring a dead target to life with 1800 health and 1365 mana. Cannot be cast when in combat.

Entangling Roots: Roots the target in place and causes 423 Nature damage over 27 sec. Damage caused may interrupt the effect.

Nature's Grasp: While active, any time an enemy strikes the caster they have a 100% chance to become afflicted by Entangling Roots (Rank 8). 3 charges. Lasts 45 sec.

Force of Nature (Balance): Summons 3 treants to attack enemy targets for 30 sec.

Typhoon (Balance): You summon a violent Typhoon that does 400 Nature damage when in contact with hostile targets, knocking them back and dazing them for 6 sec.

Feral Charge - Bear (Feral Combat): Causes you to charge an enemy, immobilizing and interrupting any spell being cast for 4 sec.

Feral Charge - Cat (Feral Combat): Causes you to leap behind an enemy, dazing them for 3 sec.

Night Elf: Provides a temporary threat drop option with Shadowmeld, some physical avoidance with Quickness, and some spell avoidance with Nature Resistance.

Horde

Tauren: Provides a decent defensive on-use ability with War Stomp, additional base health with Endurance, and some spell avoidance with Nature Resistance.

Best Professions for Druids

Engineering: Provides very powerful item enchants in the form of Hyperspeed Accelerators, Nitro Boosts, Flexweave Underlay, and Frag Belt.

Jewelcrafting: Provides three very powerful gems with Dragon's Eye, such as Runed Dragon's Eye, Solid Dragon's Eye, and Rigid Dragon's Eye. All of these gems can be found here.

Blacksmithing: Provides the ability to add sockets to their own gear with Socket Bracer and Socket Gloves.

Tailoring: Provides a powerful item enchant in the form of Swordguard Embroidery, Lightweave Embroidery, and Darkglow Embroidery.

Leatherworking: Provides a powerful item enchant in the form of Fur Lining - Attack Power, Fur Lining - Spell Power, and Fur Lining - Stamina.

Enchanting: Provides powerful ring enchants in the form of Enchant Ring - Assault, Enchant Ring - Greater Spellpower, and Enchant Ring - Stamina.

Mining: Provides a decent passive buff in the form of Toughness.

Skinning: Provides a decent passive buff in the form of Master of Anatomy.

Herbalism: Provides a decent on-use ability in the form of Lifeblood.
