This looks like an excellent talent to spend 3 points in. It will add a lot of health to the raid (someones rough math said about 20-40k a minute, sounds a little off but)... Looks great for tough situations. I just hope no CD is implanted, so it can only go off an X amount of times a minute or something.
I know where some of my points are going ~_^

Does anyone know if this icon is the official one that will go live?
On the updated Blizzard WOTLK beta calculator it has the same icon as Ancestral Healing talent.
Personally I like this one better. :)

Excuse for bad english.
Not so good as you think. How often do you use HW or LHW in raids? I cast Chain Heal all of time except when i in need to heal myself (because CH would not jump to another target if the first target is me).
In 5ppl party this would be great, but not in raids.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but this will be a very good talent for arena's. Even in 2v2 it should heal the lowest party member whether it being yourself or the other. Meaning this will be very useful for arena's of all kind.

you say you're never going to cas LHW or HW but with a 30% cast reduction time and 20% bonus from healing effects for LHW i think this will be alot more useful than some of you are saying it will be

In conjunction with Tidal Waves and this talent, LHW and HW will become much more viable. And that's what bliz is trying to do. As of now shamans in our raids (sunwell) cast from 95% to 100% chain heal on any given fight. Even on fights where we use them to tank heal (M'uru), they chain heal. This would let them "raid heal" while tank healing.

An interesting observation is that the heal from this talent benefits twice from
Purification
. The heal that proced it already included the 10% extra healing from Purification, but the AA heal gets another +10% on top of that, meaning that it actually heals for 33% of the original heal.
Unfortunately this talent currently only works on effective healing, reducing it's value. If your spell ends up being 50% overhealing (which isn't all that unlikely, considering it only works on crits), then the AA heal will only heal for 15% of the full heal, which isn't really a lot.

I would like to share my personal experience as a resto shammy.
Reading comments here, I decided not to spend points in this talent, however, after raiding and doing heroics, I find that I cast (and crit) mostly
Healing Waves
, and they typically crit for 13k (I have very few epics, mostly from rep and badges, and hardly enchanted anything, without totems about 1.8k SP).
With my basic rotation of
Riptide
(proccing
Tidal Waves
), i get off Healing Waves faster than I would a
Chain Heal
.
With CH diminishing returns per jump, limited jump range, longer cast time, and only getting a good benefit after a Riptide, my standard rotation would be: RT, HW, HW, CH (on RT target).
30% (through AW) of my usual 13k crit from HW would roughly equal almost 4k on someone else. Sometimes me. Sometimes the offtank. Sometimes the DPS who got aggro and is out of CH range.
IMO, worth the 3 talent points. I'll respec to get AW in my build. Feel free to comment.
If there's any inconsistency in my information, please comment and I'll edit, no need to downrate when I'm throwing out plenty of points for people to think and criticize about.
If my build is sucky, good of you to let me know so I can be a better healer.

I'll add my own insight here, I think this talent is well worth its points, and to get it you could even steal points out of the Improved Healing wave talent.
As a shaman currently having completed 25 Naxx, 25 Malygos, and close to completing 25-3 Drake Sartharion, and having been a resto shaman since the start of Burning crusade, this is my methods. =P
First off I -RARELY- use Healing wave. It does heal more life for less mana when compared to Lesser Healing wave, however having near completely negated this from my rotation in boss fights has served me surprisingly well. Well enough that out of a 25 man group with five to seven healers, I'm typically in the top three.
I don't actually have a set rotation as I use my spells where and when they are needed, instead I'll list the spells and say when I use them to give you and others a better grasp of my reasoning.
Chain heal: This should be your primary spell when doing -any- sort of raid where there is -any- sort of AoE damage OR multiple tanks that are actively tanking different things at the same time. While it does have a longer cast time and heals for less per jump it is still arguably your most powerful heal spell not only because its your only AoE healing spell, but because your passive abilities and trinkets can proc independently on -each- jump it makes. Improved water shield, Ancestral healing, and ancestral awakening all can be triggered by individual crits that each bounce has the potential to make.
Lesser Healing wave: This spell is technically does have less mana/heal efficiency then Healing wave does, However I use this as my primary spell next to CH and it does serve me well as well as other shamans that I've suggested my rotations to. The spell has a shorter cast time, allowing you to toss a few out and 'rest' for a few seconds to regen your mana. I believe the key point of LHW is the ability to cast it quickly to top off your target then stand back for a few seconds to get one or two ticks of mana regen past the 5 second rule. One thing I've picked up is that, with good regen gear and being smart about where you toss your heals, Shamans can come very close to paladins in ways of never running out of mana. In nearly -every- boss fight I've done where there is even a few seconds of running to avoid Fires, Rock fall, Red circles or anything like that, Or any fight where I can take a few seconds pause in between heals (IE Lotheb), I've found that I can do my job as healer perfectly without ever getting low on mana. In fact the only fights where I ever find myself having to watch my mana pool is in spam-heal fights such as Patchwerk, nothing else.
Riptide: This pretty much speaks for itself, perfect for topping off a DPS that got scratched, as well as popping a quick instant heal followed by a sped up LHW to save someone from 'instant death' powers like Kel'Thuzad's Ice Tomb.
Now I said that I -near- completely negated HW from my rotations. I only nearly removed it because it still does have its use. The few times I do use HW in boss fights is during those 'Oh *!@#' moments where I'll snap Nature Swiftness and THEN use HW to save a MT from death. Other then that I never use it and find that the points for Imp HW are better used elsewhere, Like Imp Shields or even Thundering Strikes(5% spell crit is delicious <3) from the Enhancement tree

As of now, the comments I made about Healing Wave being mostly useless are void. The changes to the Healing Way talent have made it viable for healing now, and as such makes Improved Healing Wave also useful since the spell is now acceptable for healing rotation. Assuming your gear has the Mp5 to cover its mana cost.

This talent will become even more prevalent now with the 3.2 changes to Tidal Waves. Tidal Waves will no longer decrease the cast time on LHW, it will increase the critical hit chance.

Hey, I know it says n/a with cooldown but does this have some sort of internal cooldown? Seems to me like it would be pretty powerful in arena when you get some crits and this procs all the time. I just want to know because it is currently in my talent spec when I reach 80.

If the resto tree had a talent that said: "Increases the critical healing bonus of Healing Wave, Lesser Healing Wave and Riptide by 30%" it would be a no brainer. THIS instead, is exactly that, except it will bounce on to someone else if the main target doesn't need the extra 30%.
In my opinion, a must have talent with a twist of lemon!
