Some Info I've gathered:
Currently, this does not scale with level.
It grants 50 spell resistance to you and the whole raid for the school of magic you are hit by when it procs
Stacking to 3 times just like the tooltip says, to a total of 150 Spell resistance
Wowhead is even showing
holy resistance
, which doesn't currently show up on the character info tab
It doesn't appear to have any internal cooldowns
The buff you receive is purgable

gives 50 resist per stack, stacks 3 times
stacks with frost aura, so at 80 you could have as high as 230 in one or more resist
it triggers on the initial spell cast, not dot ticks
can stack with multiple elements at a time, like if you are fighting a shaman, you could have nature and fire resist both stacked to 3 if he keeps attacking
if it has an element, it will trigger the buff, this includes such things as nature resist from rogue's poisons, and weapon enchants (like icebreaker)
this is technically the first ability in game that gives holy resistance, even paladins cannot get by this ability just because they are using holy

This plus frost aura makes 230 resist to all schools without buying any resistance gear. You can't get a good resistance set for multiple schools. This gives you a clear advantage and versatility against casters in pvp. This makes resisting magical damage, magical crowd control, and magical debuffs easy.
As the magic soaker niche, this is a must for frost tanks.

A funny side effect of this ability is that it'll proc off the most random things, for example shaman mana spring totem procs the shadow resist part

With regards to the friendly spells thing, the tooltip says when you are HIT by a spell, so it doesn't really differentiate between beneficial and non-beneficial spells.
Whether or not that's a bug is for Blizzard to decide I guess.

Though it looks like a good thing, one has to consider how spells work. The chance of being hit with binary spells (the ones that either hit you or don't) is greatly reduced, as an effect, with the full resistance buff active, the effect itself will make it unable to refresh the buff. As for non-binary spells, this final effect will be less manifest due to the resistable proportions of spell, rather then the spell as a whole. One has to be fully hit by a spell atleast 3 times in 18seconds in order to have a high chance of keeping the buff active. All in all a good thing to have, yet do not rely on it to save your life when you need it.

Fighting while standing on burning pyres is a great way to keep this up. Atleast with regard to fire resist. I wish cozy fire did fire damage. That's be great for this and pally reckoning.

Does this now scale with level? I noticed that Acclimation used to say that it boosts resistance by 50 but now says "boost your resistance to that type of magic for 18 sec." And how much spell resistance does it give at 80 now?

I want to know if the magma in Obsidian sanctum triggers Acclimation, either on the initial tick or if every 1200 hit of fire damage can activate it. Has anyone tried this? or are we assuming that the magma aura follows the same rules as DoTs?

Sartharion encounter:
* Magma around the island will NOT trigger this
* Dragon breaths will all trigger this
* Fire Blaze (elemental adds) will NOT trigger this, even though their attacks are resistable by it
* Lava Strike (the fire balls from the lava) will trigger this
* I still haven't gotten a shadow proc off of the void zones, but data is inconclusive.

Can anyone confirm or deny if this talent has changed significantly in 3.1? Is it still 150 resistance for each class of spells used against you? The buff information says "value=100", but that seems far overpowered IMO... I'll take it, but it's still OP. =P

However, it's a passive ability, not instant cast, so I don't know why you would say that it was fight-specific.
I'm gonna go and take a wild guess here; but maybe, just maybe, it has something to do with not all figths involving magic.

Yes it takes some load off during magic fights but If the magic damage isn't consistent then the stacks could fall off and many fights are mostly, if not entirely, melee.
So in conclusion: It's a neat bonus in certain situations but it's not an universal buff to tanking.
For pvp thou it's a treat. Resisting that fear or other cc always saves time and you can use your counters in other situations. And the stacks go up fairly quick when a lock unloads 7 spells on you in a row.

For a tank do your really need all 3 ranks of this talent? additional ranks of this spell only increase the chance of having this proced per spell hit,BUT since your a tank getting hit by enemy spells shouldn't be to hard in a short amount of time,though ofcourse i could be wrong :(

The spell icon for this really reminds me of the poster for horror movie classic "The Thing" from 1982. It takes place in the Antarctic, and it's about an alien who adapts to its enviroment and mimics any living creature. But really the poster, aaaalmost the same.

Can anyone explain the numbers pls.
To my understanding player(Wunjita) takes 4239 damage but resisted 9319 and absorbs 14971 which means he got no damage at all because the 4239 damage got resisted / absorbed .
I know I'm wrong here so someone point me in the right direction and please without the rude remarks topped with sarcasm most pundits usually do. Thanks

Just tried this out on Koralon. Me =OT, pala =MT (slightly better geared). According to my recount data and my calculations, I resisted about 26% of the fire dmg, and the pala about 15%. Had to nerf my threat skills a bit to get it but so far it seems to be worth it (for fights where you incur heavy magic dmg anyways). I need to try on Onyxia next, to see if these numbers are consistent.

It feels like this talent could be worth putting one point into for fights with constant damage auras (Sapphiron, Twin Val'Kyr).
However, the main issue with this spell is that it's really weak with 54 resist when fully stacked. If you are raid buffed with a 130, and using a Lesser Flask of Resistance for an extra 50, you'll only have 234 resistance.
A mage, on the other hand, would have 60 from improved Mage Armor, 80 from Magic Absobtion, 130 from raid buffs and 50 from the flask, for a total 320.

So lets bring this theory craft to a practical question:
Would you rather spend three talent points for Acclimation, or Go with Spell Deflection (Blood, forth tier).
My untested impression would be that Spell Deflection brings a lot more usability, seeing that it cuts spell damage by 30% proc'd on perry chance, something that helps on the first of those 7 rapid lock spells! It also scales better too.
For PvP build, going into Blood for Rune Tap anyway, would you agree, Spell deflection is the way?
