The advantages of this talent are easily summed up as:

- +5% often doubles the base crit rate.
- Due to the amount of attacks a Paladin must make in order to bring down foes this talent nearly guarentees a large critical to start or end fights.
- The proc from Seal of Command can critical. This creates for the potential of both a melee critical and a command proc critical occuring simultaneously.

Not only it adds crit what is very important for paladins, it is also needed for Vengeance.
These two 5-point talents are a must for retribution paladin, for both PvP and PvE.

Well, crit chance is very important for DPS, this is one of the most needed talent for all dps pallies.

With the combination of "Vengeance" results are spectacular.

Great talent. It should be noted tier 3 of the ret tree houses excellent talents for levelling+PvP (As well as 3/4 being excellent for PvE) I highly reccomend taking each one as you level, move to tier 5, and double back for Sanctified Seals as you go.

I've got a build with Holy Power, Conviction, Sanctified Seals, and Sanctified Light. This provides me with 19% crit chance on Holy Shock from talents alone, no gear or Intellect based crit involved.

What's a 2% mana reduction on some of the cheapest abilities (Hammer and Shield, hell, even Consecrate is only 966 mana) when you could increase DPS through crit that is guaranteed to be useful on everything but Consecrate? Really, if you're being mana starved, put the full two points in Spiritual Attunement or get the glyph. Otherwise increase the DPS you put out, however minimal it is.

Also, someone put "Sam Fisher approved." I liked that.

Edit: I checked Maintankadin.. It lists Conviction as 50 TPS. That's not a lot. It isn't.

But it's more than either Blessing of Might or Benediction.
BoM is raid utility. As stated, it's useless when running with a retadin.
Benediction is also largely worthless. 2% is nothing. Spiritual attunement becomes more powerful as gear improves. At entry level, maybe. Maybe. At higher levels, gimping yourself is inexcusable.

The one counterargument is where to sink the second tier point in ret to unlock everything else. Maintankadin also answered that. That is the ret build for protection.
Put the point for the full 2/2 Imp. Judgments and wait a second if you are so adamant about maintaining 969.

If you are concerned about min-maxing, Conviction gives stable, consistent results.
