Great skill for running away from guys a higher lvl than you. If your in trouble you can cast that and hope it takes effect so you can get away safely.

This great skill to use when running away when you just can't beat the target or want to get away from your target. These a few downsides... This only lasts 45 seconds but the cooldown is 15 seconds so theres only a 15 second wait. But thats not the issue. The issue is that you must get out feral to cast it. So a lot times you be out or low on mana to start with switching back to feral and none feral mode tends to eat all your mana up.

Yea it a good spell... And its really good when you are getting surprise attacked by a rogue.. Natures Grasp, and then nuke him ;)

I'd would definatly recommend getting this spell, it comes in handy more often than one would think -- especially in battle grounds!

Does this effect also proc off the druid if he is in bear or cat forms?

I always use it in PvP. Works very well in 1v1.

It is only a 15 second wait if no one gets entangled.
once they hit you and proc the roots you no longer have it and need to wait until the 1 minute cooldown is finished.
So if you cast it and it procs after 2 seconds.
You have a 58 second cooldown left.

Almost any Druid, regardless of spec, could get great use out of this ability. If you can spare a single point, put it here. Even without improving it, this will often proc very quickly. If you do not put any points in improving it, try to cast it preemptively, if you can. There
are
those rare times where it will take almost 10 or 15 seconds to proc.

This spell is very useful, but DO NOT get improved nature's grasp. There are much better places where your extra points can go. A 35% chance is huge, a rogue hits you for more than 3 times in a second easy.

This is quite good for feral lvl'ing, you can pop it any second (unless on CD) against a mob, then throw a few HOT's on yourself.
I found out that it is possible to make a: Starfire - Moonfire - Entangling roots - Cat form - behind target (but 10yards away) - then jump into the mobs back while spamming shred... Worked for me, got a few video-clips with it. I just want to know if this little trick works with this buff...

The Wowhead tooltip claims ti requires Cat/Bear/Dbear to use. Is this true? It doesn't make sense that a moonkin would have to shift Feral to use a Balance ability.

Does this spell overwrite existing roots? For example, if I have a mob rooted and this goes off, will it break the roots on the first mob?

This seems to be a typo from wowhead as there is no such message in the in-game tooltip. Furthermore you are able to use this in any form except your travel forms (aquatic, travel, flight, swift flight)

this is quite a blast if you think about the fact entangling roots can now be cast indoors. as a tank you have a
ranged pull mechanism + melee cc
for a mob, when it breaks you simple cast natures grasp to
cc it again
, since most casters won't melee hit you and should be cc'd or killed asap anyway
if you use this 45sec*2 =
1:30
cc lenght
ofcourse for healers and moonkins this works too, if you have the luck its a melee mob
this makes this talent viable tool from rfc/dm until heroics

This ability, without upgrades, gives > 13 mp5
and
gives you the general damage in addition to the rooting effects. Now that it is useable in shapeshifts, this talent is a must-have for any tree. (Exceptionally useful for PvP with a warrior or rogue)

spell being usable in forms only. I am not sure whether it is usable in caster form, as I am not into the beta, but for 100% sure it is usable in Moonkin form.

This spell was at one point, in the talent tree of balance, it was a one point spells, that could be improved by investing 3 more points into "improved natures grasp"
It is now a base druid spell, which means it requires no talent points to get.

Nature's Grasp is usable in every form except Tree.
Edit: Happily this is no longer the case. Trees can now cast Nature's Grasp without deshifting.

First time I used the updated version of this was lastnight while doing dailys. I know they removed it from the balance talent tree but I didnt know it was only usable in cat and/or bear forms.
I was getting too many adds and was expected to shift out and cast it then back up. Was in AWE that it was cast without any shifting.
This is going to be crazy in pvp aspects.

It should be noted that this spell is technically cast on your opponent on a hit, it can miss, and it can be spell reflected, much to my surprise...

Apparently the proc chance on this isn't 100% when used agaisnt Level ?'s, I've had times where I was exploring and aggro'd one, used this to get some distance and escape, only to have it "Miss" and then subsequently have myself die -.-
Someone correct me if this is just a bug, but it's happened.

This ability saved my backside while levelling as a feral kitty so many times it wasn't funny. The ability to peel one mob off your back so you can either focus on the other(s) or sneak in a heal is truly invaluable.
Always keep this one on your emergency action bar while you're leveling.

Blizzard should supply more info with that note like:
Can 3 targets be rooted through the use of Nature's Grasp?
Will Nature's grasp now use a different root spell than Entangling Roots?
How will this work with Diminishing Returns?
In it's current state just adding 2 more charges won't really do anything, seeing as
how only 1 target can be rooted at a time

3 targets will be able to be rooted simultaneously
this will help all 3 specs in pvp, to differing amounts, esp. arena pvp, though some specs will no doubt benefit more than others, and other classes will see this as:
A. a minor nuisance
B. a non-issue due to dispells
C. OMG OP NERF NERF

Nature's Grasp is a self buff that causes things that hit you to become rooted. That effect now has 3 charges. There is a small internal cooldown in between roots to keep say a rogue who hits you twice very quickly from wasting two charges. In your example, both the DK and pet should get rooted. If the DK breaks the roots and gets on you again, they will get rooted again (subject to the 45 sec duration).
The intent of this spell was to be a defensive tool for druids. Since it hasn't quite kept up, we wanted to try to get it to be more useful (i.e. do its job) rather than come up with an entirely new mechanic.
The DR hasn't changed. I would suggest go trying it out if you aren't sure how it works.

i have a question it says 3 charges but does that mean if i use it one time i will never be able to use it again until i level up and learn it at a higher rank because Ive been scared to use it

When you're running away, or kiting, you can use it to stop enemies.... useful IMO...

This is really a great spell, mostly for running away or pvp.
Balancedruids mostly use this but it is good for feral and resto too.
With the talent Improve Nature's Grasp (4talentspoints) This can be added too 100% chance too root the attacker.
Sad it only has one charge but the cooldown isn't that bad.
Oh, and this a magical 'buff' so it will be removed if a shammie uses purge or a priest takes dispel magic, the felhounds also has devour magic witch removes this effect or any other buff.

actually u cant cast it in all forms, u cant cast it in travel form. And it doesnt disappaer when u shapeshift in travel form
this spell is "MUST HAVE"
It pawns all melee classes, 1 lvl is enough, just activate it when u are around 50% of hp and heal urself

So if i get this spell (35%) and it doesnt proc when an enemy hits me does that mean its wasted or will the buff stay on me till they are rooted?
(will determine whether i throw 5 in here or just 2 for 50%)

For a feral druid defianatly get this but don't get it untill after mangle.This is very useful in pvp when you need to heal. 35% chance to bind the enemy? just cast this and wait a few attacks then bam, they entangled this gives you a few seconds to back up, heal a few times and turn back into cat or bear. plus it only costs 1 talent point. But don't get the imp nature grasp!(its a waste of points) Use your talent points wisely feral specs! its not your armor that makes you awesome but how u spend your talents and execute your attacks.

This talent also has a tree that are spells. Once you have the base talent activated in your talent tree you are then allowed to upgrade its rooting capabilities; thus the different ranks. Each rank provides the same effect but just a better root to corrispond to your current spell root at that time. Each rank is purchased just like any spell is, but in order to use these spells you must have the Nature's Grasp Talent.

Nature's Grasp Rank 1 is a talent. Select it in the Balance section of your talent tree. Once you have NG 1 you will get the rest of the series from the Druid trainers.
