For 3 talent points, at level 70 you reduce the cost of max rank Greater Heal (rank 7) to:

825 * (1.0 - 0.15) = ~701 mana

The same formula applies to lower ranks (Tooltip cost * 0.85). You can (very crudely) think of it as a free Greater Heal every 6.6 times you cast the spell. I'm sure someone much better at this than me can provide a detailed analysis of its effect (or lack thereof) on your mana efficiency. :]>

From a Discipline Priests PoV one might think that a cheaper Penance will make Rapture more effective, but I have been in raids where I had my PWS up constantly on the tank and Divine Aegis was proccing alot and I really didn't notice that penance cost 50-60 less mana.

Edit: Here comes 3.1.... GG Bliz, gotta go nerfing Rapture.

NEW patch...3.0.8

Lets just say that a Greater Heal is about 1400 mana (keeping it simple)
Minus 15% is 210 Mana saved PER Greater Heal, which believe me it does add up.

Now I've had heard a coupld of things dealing with Serendipity, let me just clear that up.
With out Improved Healing, Serendipity would give back 350 Mana (assuming your Greater Heal cost 1400 Mana).
With Improved Healing, Serendipity would give back 297.5 Mana (assuming your Greater Heal cost 1400 Mana).

The difference being only 52.5 Mana, which is really nothing, the big saver is having Improved Healing because it saves a whold 210 Mana.

Not a really necessary if your gear allows you to heal with only flash heals, shield and renew for single target, and prayer of healing and circle of healing for AoE. Personally, I think that if you just need to use Greater healing or Divine Hymn very seldom, it doesn't worth it 3 talent points for this reduction. Actually, not having them doesn't mean you can't use them, the reduction is not so much anyway.

From a discipline sub holy build... Focused Will and Renewed Hope work together to encourage crits with Greater Heal. It's not spectacular or anything, but after testing it on myself and an NPC by using Power Word: Shield on the subject to be healed first (required to get the crit % from Renewed Hope), then using the Greater Heal ability, I've made over 10,000 point heals with Inspiration coming up.

This was the talent specification that did that. GearScore: 1917.
