Here is yet another item which one may either fail to loot or sell to a vendor. I would suggest that you either auction this one off (for around a gold a piece) or keep it if one of your professions is either leatherworking or tailoring. It is used to make both of these rare items:
Toughened Leather Gloves (
https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=1411/
枯木法杖) and
Spidersilk Boots (
https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=38558/

Although they are lower level items, the stats are good and they sell for a decent price on the AH.

Anyone mind tipping me and everyone else that reads this where to farm this stuff? I remember picking up a decent amount from the various mobs nearly everywhere listed through my lvling, but failed to take note of its usefulness.
Ive been through the north mountain edge of Arathi Highlands for nearly 3 hours and haven't had one drop. Rather aggrivating.

If you come upon this item and get more of them I would suggest to put them on the AH. Casters that have tailoring need this mat for the Spider silk boots. There are usually none up for sale on my server so its good money.

Dang, this stuff IS hard to come by! I searched the whole auction house, and there was none to be found, so i came here and fought the forest moss creepers for an hour in the Hillsbrad foothills just to receive 2 Spider's silk. A note to those of you who have some, don't you dare think about selling it to just any merchant, I would have gladly paid a gold for each one I came across!

These sell for quite a lot on the Auction House relative to their drop rate. Anyone in their 30s should slaughter every spider from Refuge Pointe or Hammerfall to their quest location. If you're a tailor, stock up on them, you won't regret it.

It's such a huge pain to get this item. What's the best place to farm for it? I've heard that Duskwood is, although I had some success (I got two in like twenty to thirty minutes) in the Hillsbrad Foothills.

The best grinding place for these i think is in Sishir Canyon, a small valley in Stonetalon Mountain, that resides just a bit below Sun Rock Retreat. Been there several times, and always leave with 5-10 silk's for about 30 mins. work.

Farming the giant spiders in Arathi for 30 minutes yielded the following results -
https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/npc=2565
11 Spider's Silks
5 Thick Spider's Silks
4 Large Fangs
36 stacks of spider meat/vendor stuff
2 greens
The regular Spider's Silks sell for a lot b/c they're used for 2 tailoring rares as well as Robes of Arcana for warlock quest.
Anyway, happy farming :)

I farm these frequently in Duskwood. I've gotten the best droprates there, and can easily farm them even just as level 30 warlock with no issues, 5 or so at a time. (Alliance of Course) these sell for about 2 for 10g on Twisting Nether.
ETA: I recieved about 10 in 45-60 minutes, farming in all areas around Raven Hill.

I had good luck with the spiders in Arathi... I just killed all the spiders I came across, regular and giant. Didn't track the time since that will vary a lot depending on character level...
Started east of Hammerfall, worked my way south along the mountains, then between the lake and little pond at Witherbark Village... a bit west and then back north around the western side of Go'Shek farm, continued north up to Dabyrie's Farmstead and then west along the mountains there... in just that route I netted 11 spider's silk, 5 thick spider silk, 4 greens and a ton of spider legs and grey vendor trash. Not too shabby for a small investment of time.

While the drop rate is higher per spider in Arathi, the Deepmoss spiders in the small valley in Stonetalon are densely packed and easy to farm.

Has something happened to the drop rate of spider's silk recently? I spent 45 minutes farming these on a 27 warlock in Hillsbrad, getting 1 in that time. Deciding to then try this in Arathi, I spent 45 minutes on a 43 priest, killing around 50 spiders and getting no spider's silk or thick silk - Considering the numbers other people are posting, I'm not seeing the same rates.
edit: Decided to do another 45 minutes of grinding and picked up 4 spiders silk, I can't tell if it's bad drop rates or what 8-)

I used my 70 hunter with the following system:
Start in Arathi at about 56, 36 just above the Dabyrie Farm.
Start moving West along the ridgeline and kill every frakkin' spider you see. 9% is almost as good as 10% so don't skip the regular Plains Creepers.
Once you get to about 36, 27, zip down to farm the fire guys around 25, 30 and pick up some
Elemental Fire
. You'll also get some
Burning Charms
which are for a quest, don't bind, so maybe you can sell them on the AH.
I gathered the following grays which seemed like they vendored well enough to go and empty my bags once they filled up:
Burning Pitch
Dripping Spider Mandible
Hard Spider Leg Tip
Once you wipe out the fire guys, head back to 36, 27 and do it again!
Happy Hunting!

Using the system "Moobi" descibes in his post i was able to get a stack of 10 in roughly 45 minutes. You also get plenty of cooking quest/recipe items in this manner as well. I vendored the "VT" (vendor trash) for around 8g per 16 slot bag. Not a bad haul for the amount of time spent.

I agree that arathi is the best place for farming silks that ive found. Ive tried duskwood, and thats a miserable bad drop rate.. full clear of west shore yields 1 silk.. and respawn rate isnt that impressive. more standing around waiting than farming
Ive been using a similar method to moobi ^^ for several months with my 80 warlock; starting north of dabyries farm move west to northfold manor. Kill 3-5 at a a time (spiders, and raptors both) and loot.
ive tried to just run the wall then go back to begining and loot up (you have 5 min till bodies despawn) but this doesnt farm as fast imo
1 hr of this resulted in
- 15 spidersilk (2-5g ea)
- 11 thick spidersilk (25s ea)
- 110 gooey spider legs (5g a stack)
- 25 raptor eggs (1g ea)
- 5 large fangs (2g ea)
- 5 misc green drops (disenchanted.. neg value)
Thats the items that are worth posting on AH all other vendor trash gets deleted to make room in packs for stuff thats worth carrying
If your just farming silk to make money its a waste of time, if you are farming silks to use in tradeskills though the extra 100g in saleable items takes some of the sting out of the crappy drop rate.
Regretably 3.1.2 didnt improve drop rates, and in fact seems to have nerfed them. Using this method prior to 3.1.2 would yield about 2 to 2.5 stacks of spider's silk

Arathi they drop more "stuff" you know spider stuff. But they don't drop silk any more frequently than in stonetalon peaks. the beauty of stonetalon is that the spiders are very close together. It makes farming a whole heck of a lot faster.
I just tested both places and arathi took 3 times as long to get 10 spider silks
评论来自

I concur that the drop rate in Arathi was likely nerfed in 3.1.2, I'm having much better luck in Stonetalon. This is most likely due to the fact that it's a key mat for a twink Tailoring pattern introduced in 3.1,
Spidersilk Drape
. Incidentally, this is also why the price shot up so high recently. Being a twink item, those cloaks easily sell for 100g on the AH on my server, sometimes a bit more. With the upcoming twink changes in 3.2, expect this silk to be even harder (and more expensive) to come by.

Using spider's silk u can get spidersilk drape(4 stamina, 4 hit rating, and 4 spell power) and Spidersilk boots with 4 stamina, 4 intellect, and 8 spell power) both are really good for all caster's. On my server drape sells 50g each and boots sell for 60g each. Best place to farm spider's silk is arathi highland. Make sure u loot everything cause i sold poor items at vendor for like 50 silver each. Tough to get but it worth grinding do good luck!

I decided to take myself down to Duskwood, and farm the Spiders there for this item. Had pretty good luck, in about an hour I Got 8 Spiders Silk (not to mention loads of other Grey/white Spider Related Junk).. but off the Black Widow Hatchlings. The other Spiders, didnt drop it as frequently. Maybe It was just a good day for me? I Needed only 6, but I'll be keeping the rest just in case. (( This was on a level 59 Priest ))
Edit - 59 Troll Priest... It was out of my way, I could have gone To easier Locations, but the amount of Spiders in duskwood Makes it worth it. Run around in circles One shotting them, and as you come back around - more have respawned.

Ok so I tried the method Moobi up above recommended:
1. at about 56, 36 just above the Dabyrie Farm.
2. Start moving West along the ridgeline and kill every frakkin' spider you see.
But instead of going down to the farm. I just turned around and went back covering my tracks killing the ones that had respawned all the way back to the Dabyrie Farm.
I used a 34 Lock, with my Voidwalker. I must have gotten real lucky because in 3 round trips about 1 1/2 hours I got 14 Spider's Silk and 6 Thick Spider's Silk.

the arathi highland drop rate is 1 in 6 reliably under certain conditions. Go to the spiders between gothek and witherbarks. Theres a discimination once you hit 10 that makes the drop rate half to 1 in 12 so once you get 10, go dump it from your bags and come back.

Arathi is definitely the best place and one of the most profitable areas in the game for many reasons. While farming for Spider's silk, you can also get a nice amount of Iron Ore (Miners) a bit of different herbs (herbalists) and quite a bit of skinning returns from the raptors if you are a skinner. The silk drops from both the small and larger spiders, so I just went around and through all of Arathi and killed like mad while getting some ore as well. In an hour on my DK, I got:
14 - Spider Silks
8 - Thick Spider Silks
5 - Greens
15 - Iron/Tin Ore + Various Stones
98 - Crunchy Spider Legs
72 - Gooey Spider Legs
42 - Crisp Spider Meat
12 - Large Fangs
Various Grey items that sold for well over a gold.
Well worth it to me. Happy hunting!

Odd that it can be placed in the Leatherworking bag, but not the tailoring bag. It's only used in one leatherworking recipe, and I would consider a silk thread to be a cloth, not a hide.

As a 74th level hunter with skinning and mining, the grind of farming these spider silk is not that bad. I have spent about 6 hours over the last 2 days and have gotten 34 spider's silk, 28 thick spider's silk (12gp each for spider's; 3gp for stack of thick, lol). 200+ medium leathers, 60+ heavy leather, several hides (vendored as they are worthless on my sever), 5 greens, 2 stacks of tin, 1 stack of iron, 11 silver ores, and 5 stacks of raptor eggs. In all, about 600 gold. Which is within the limit of 100 gold/hour I follow.
The only tip I have is to follow the hunter's creed... if it is red on mini-map, it is dead when I get to it.
I fill my bags up and when they get full, I ride to Refuge point and sell all the trash. When they get full of good stuff, I fly to Southshore and mail them off to alt.

Being a low-level human warlock who needed Spider's Silk to be able to make myself a Spidersilk Drape and Spidersilk Boots, farming the areas suggested above, or buying it off the AH, were not viable options. Searching the "dropped by" list, I decided to farm Greater Tarantulas in Redridge. My results are in no way scientific, but I reckon I spent about 2 hours farming, and got the stack of 10 I needed, plus a good amount of Small Venom Sacs for Anti-Venom, cooking ingredients and vendor trash. The spiders are located directly north of centre, above the lake, in the area around the sawmill.....just look at the Greater Tarantula page for a visual guide.
I did die a coupla times, but that's a small price to pay for 2 decent blue items. The spiders are an ok-ish distance apart, and the respawn rate seemed good enough to me. Beware of aggro, tho: the condors which are also in the area are particularly aggressive, hence my couple of deaths. Hope this helps any lowbie tailors ;-)

"Sometimes certain of these mobs drop like 25/100, and sometimes thottbot says 10% and I kill 50 mobs and don't get any."
The percentage that thottbot gives you is an average counted over droprates that change all the time. Something like dynamic or rotating loot-tables, implemented in mmorpgs to mislead farmers that use tools like thottbot.
The only true info is that the spiders in the list all dropped this once and that has been recorded, but it doesnt say it will still drop it at this moment on each server at the exact droprate thottbot says...

Now over the time I've been leatherworking,
Toughened Leather Gloves
seen to be in near constant demand. Well, the other materials are usually easy, but the Spider's Silk is always the problem. Well, being one who hates relying on others (in this case the Auction House's silk), I have traveled the world of Azeroth searching for it.
I have come up with three main hotspots:
1. The Deepmoss Spiders up in the Stonetalon Mountains
2. The Plains Creepers of Arathari
3. Any of the spiders of Ashenvale
While I may call these "hotspots," it can take a long time to gather your silk quota. Its something you have to get used to.

I have a theory as to why Spider's Silk in particular is so expensive on the AH, and the above comment about economics touches on this. Spider's Silk is an ingredient for Robes of Arcana, something that just about every Warlock will eventually need when they hit Level 30 or so.
The pattern for it is relatively difficult to find (especially for Horde), and even then many Lock's are not tailors, so a fair number of Locks need to buy the Robes from the AH or another player. I've seen the Robes on the AH's of various servers with a buyout price of anywhere from 4g to 15g, which can be pretty steep for a Level 30; the reason for the huge price tag is twofold - 1: Locks NEED to get the Robe; that makes it a seller's market so mark-ups are huge. 2: There is a perception in WoW that Locks are rich cuz they don't have to pay for mounts (not actually true - they pay twice as much for new skills as they have to pay for their pet upgrades as well, unlike hunters), and so prices are set by what the sellers feel the market can bear.
Anyway, all of that combined with the relative rarity of Spider's Silk dropping means that Spider's Silk will sell for lots of cash - most players know that whoever wants it is going to use it to make an item that they will then sell for huge profits, and so they want to get their share of that. Of course, many "Producers" of said items pass on the production costs, which drives up the sale price of the items, which in turn drives up the component price, and so on.
Sort of like selling twink items - you don't sell Level 29 items expecting an actual 29th Level main will buy it - you're selling it to some 70th Level main so they can give it to their 29th Level Twink Alt.
Anyway, that's just how it is. My advice? Better off farming it yourself - even if the area's too low for you to get XP, you get vendor items and free ingredients, which means greater profits and gets you that much closer to that Epic Mount you've always wanted...

The best place I have found for farming Spider Silk (not thick or shadow) is near Forest Song in Ashenvale. Just a little west or east of Forest Song, there are many 28ish spiders (wildthorn lurkers) that drop it, especially between Forest Song and Xavian. I got 5 off of about 15 kills yesterday, and I always go back there when I need more. With the new patch, there is even a flight path there now. Just make sure you don't go too far east of Forest Song, or the level ? Dragons will zap you.
You can get lots of Thick Spider's Silk and Shadow Silk from the level 37ish Darkmist and Darkfang spiders near the cave in NW Dustwallow marsh.

I decided to gather some spider's silk so I could make some Robes of Arcana and so took my level 69 to Arathi Highlands to grind some spiders. Most of my time was spent running from spider to spider but I did the run through several on my mount, aggroing them then blast everything once I had a crowd ,tactic so it wasn't as much running as it could have been. They were all spread out and I got bored rather quickly.
After 20 minutes grinding the Plain's Creepers in Arathi Highlands I had 5 spider's silk, 5 thick spider's silk, 24 crunchy spider's legs, 22 gooey spider's legs and 20 crisp spider meat. I must have killed around 25 spiders so seems like it's a pretty good drop rate there.

They do drop it at about that 8% or so rate. (both the regular and larger plains creepers). However I had to kill 40 or so before i saw any then i picked up 3 in quick succession.
Ive noticed this type of ratio frequently when looking for rare ingredients. I think theyve put something in where you have to grind for a while to get anything to drop (I.E. you have to kill x amount of y before item Z will start dropping). Maybe a simple formula for the drop percentage.
It seems to be similiar to what theyve done for collection quests.

I agree with a lot of the previous posts. There are rotating loot tables... but as far as Im concerned, the North Side of Arathi is the place to be. I started at 1:00PM EST running back and forth (north of Refuge Point) on my 46 Warlock and left at 1:40PM EST with 5x Thick Spider Silks and 5x Spider Silks.
As the other poster said, not efficient at all, but something you'll have to get used to as a tailor.
But for less than an hour of work I was pleasantly suprised at my findings.

many large venom sacs

I needed some spider's silk for a new alt that was a tailor. In about 30-45 min I got 10 spider's silk, 20 wool cloth from the syndicate tower, 25 lion meat to cook, 5 greens to d/e and a ton of spider legs and meat. If I was a skinner I would have gotten a ton of leather, and if I wanted to I could have fished, too!

First Thottbot comment! :D Anyways, farmed in Arathi for about an hour, recieved about 15 Spider Silk's, 4 Thick Spider's Silk, and enough spider body parts to create my own farm. I usually farmed around the northern mountains in Arathi. Ran from about Northfold Manor to East Circle Binding and got about 1-2 Silk's from one end to the other. I also got about 1 Thick Spider's Silk for every 3 Regular Silk.
Once in awhile I ran to Gogesh Farm while waiting for respawns and the drop rate seemed to be more efficent there, but alot less spiders.
Haven't ran in Ashenvale or Stonetalon Mountains yet so I'm not sure if my results are very plentiful. Also if you could point to me where I could find a good place to farm for Thick Spider's Silk, I'd appreciate it. Hope this helps and good hunting.

This event is easily explained by math. The drop rate of an item is an idependent event, it doesn't matter how many you kill, you have a 1/20 chance of it too drop, you could kill a thousand arhacnids and just have it drop 8 times. You can't kill 19 of them and expect it to be guarrented on the next drop, and the auction house price is outragous, it was 21g for 5 of them, I just hoped on my 80 and destroyed every spider in the wetlands!

I started at Dabyrie's then went all the way to Northfold, then ran all the way back to Dabyrie's then started over.. did this about.. 10 times I think.. maybe less.
I think it was a pretty good drop.
Got 9 thick spider's silk as well.

I farm most of my spider's silk in Duskwood, however I am going to try Arathi after reading this. I make 1-2 robes of Arcana and they ALWAYS sell. For the record, they sell for 50-55 gold each.

For the record, I was most succesfull in Duskwood farming the venom web spiders and the black widows. I got around 8 spider's silk in 30 min of farming. Hope this helps! Good Luck

Thus proving: it is all chance.

Hi folks.
Consider trying differing times-of-day.
IN ARATHI, North of Refuge Pointe:
Night, 11pm-2am -----> 2%
Day, 8am-9:30am -----> 11%
Just my experience, but if you are in a rut, try again in several hours when the sun is in a different position.

I don't see either Spider's Silk or Thick Spider's Silk drops listed for Swamp of Sorrows. This is actually a good place to get them. The spiders are all along the south eastern part of the area, they're lvl40-41, and there is no other mob around except the occasional Shadow Panther (lvl43). They respawn fast, so you can just walk back and forth killing them, and the drop rate is not too bad. There's rarely anyone else in the area, so it may even be pretty decent for PvP servers.

Best place to farm for this is in duskwood between Raven hill and the mountain towards Darkshire, most drop off of Black Widow Hatchling's. Just do circles and the spiders will have respawned by time you do a full circle around the ridge inbetween the mountain and raven hill.

I've just spent 2 hours farming every spider in sight in both Arathi and Hillsbrad. I managed to get 3 spider silk. Oh boy my tailoring skill is really going to zoom up at this rate. I'm already wearing dropped stuff that's better than I can make so I need to get my skill higher to get past that point. If the srop rate is this bad, I'll still be trying to farm them this time next year for another 1 point on my tailoring skill.

There are a ton of them in Arathi Highlands (near Northfold Manor in North Northwest part of zone and near Witherbark Village in Southeast part of zone) There are lots of raptor and bird adds (lvl 35-36 Fleshstalkers and Mesa Buzzards) near SE spiders; smaller lvl 33 raptors (but with rather large aggro radius IMO) near/among northern spiders. I would clear one area out then run to the other and repeat as necessary. I rarely see other players in these areas unless they are going to Northfold Manor to hunt Syndicate mobs or Witherbark village to hunt trolls for the Refuge Point quests.
I got 12-16 pieces of Spider's Silk a night (also 4-6 Thick Spider's Silk, innumerable Crisp Spider Meat (functionally useless unless you love Redridge Goulash, sold it or fed it to pet), Crunchy Spider Leg (sold, fed to pet (counts as meat)), Gooey Spider leg (used in Gooey Spider Cake), also got 2-4 Large Fangs and about 4-6 green items (and one blue item (!) off a Mesa Buzzard that added to a spider fight). I still get xp for them so that's not a bad haul each night.
Higher level spiders (like the lava spiders in Searing Gorge) seem more likely to drop Thick Spider's Silk, Ironweb Silk, or Shadow Silk than the Spider's Silk used in so many Tailoring and Leatherworking recipes.

I got a lot of spider silk in the eastern part of the Arathi Highlands. The area south of Hammerfist has plenty of plains creepers (don't get too close to hammerfall if you're alliance of course). I found they were dropping spider silk at a rate of a little below 10%. they also dropper heavy spider silk at about the same rate. They're about level 32-33 and they're not a hard kill for anyone around the same level, even if you take on more than 1. They also tend to drop a lot of spider legs, spider meat etc. Most of that is vendor trash you can sell for a modest amount but some of it's useful for things like cooking if you hae the right recipes. Only other mobs in the immediate area are raptors and buzzards so if you have a quest to do in the area like
Raising Spirits
it's an added bonus.
If you're a little higher in level you can move west a bit and take on giant plains creepers. theyre a few levels higher and seem to drop at about the same rate, though I haven't killed enough of them to be sure yet. On my server the spider silk goes for a little over 1g in the horde AH and about 70-80s in the alliance AH.

I got one of these off a spider in Hillsbrad today. I think pretty much all spiders have a chance to drop it...albeit a low percentage.
评论来自
Allakhazam
this drops 5% of the time on average. And this could vary depending on the level of the spider.. the higher the level the higher the chance of dropping.
THis is NOT worth 75s... Its droprate is actually quite high compared to rare gems like Moss agates.

I farmed for this item from the deepmoss spiders in Stonetalon mountains (the valley with the elite spider in it, besselith i think her name is). The drop rate is slightly lower than the ones found in Arathi, but the mobs are more concentrated and they respawn FAST. got 4 of these after killing 100+ within 30 minutes with my 42 warlock

The cost of Spider's Silk at the Horde AH on Dalvengyr isn't too bad (compared to some other servers, I mean) - usually the buyout is somewhere in the range of 75s each.
Still, at that price, I'll be spending a day just farming the Spider's Silk, plus I've got a lot of tailoring recipes recently that need it.

Admittedly I wasn't paying much attention at the time but while exploring stonetalon mtns I fought a number of spiders and broke open spider egg sacks that are scattered about on the ground quivering hehe. Got silk of some kind or other off both spiders and from egg sacks. Can also spawn a spider when you break open a sack so be careful.

I remember these being an incredibly rare drop when my warlock was questing in Tarren Mill. Well, I went back there today to farm some silk for some boots for my priest, spent about 12 minutes farming elders in the Tarren Mill area, and dropped a couple of giant spiders too and got the 4 silk I need to craft the boots. I just used shadow bolt on them since I couldn't really be bothered to do anything else. I suggest if you want quick kills, and can deal roughly ~700 damage per hit, then the Tarren Mill area is quite nice (check the map for elders for the exact location).

It's really hard to grind this stuff... Drop percentages seem to vary widely--sometimes I'll get one every 5 kills, other times I'll kill more than 50 without a single drop. Annoying.
And they start at 1G/per on my server.

The drop rate is far below what's listed here. On Lightbringer, these sell @ 2-4g each and theres never more than a dozen for sale, if any. I thought I'd try to speed farm them from Duskwood, cuz my warrior can 1 hit kill the spiders there. Over 450 kills and NOT ONE SILK. I picked up 31 greens and 4 blues, but no silk. I spent my whole morning for nothing. Then I went to Arathi Highlands and killed the giant spiders there for an hour and picked up 4 silk and 3 thick silk. Pissed was a good word to describe me. Oh well though.

spider silk can be found around wither bark village and go sheik farm off of the giant plain creepers there. on blood furnace, my realm, the go for about 6 to 9 gold in the AH, so you can make a lot of money off them. but they are really easy to get. i got 6 in about 25 mins. i used it to make a spidersilk drape, which can go from 50 to 80 gold. its easy money.

I just noticed that it says:
Elwynn Forest:
Black Widow Hatchling (20 - 25) 6.09% (100791) Green Recluse (20 - 22) 5.14% (23651)
Plains Creeper (28 - 33) 9.48% (81125) Pygmy Venom Web Spider (15 - 19) 4.16% (79909)
Venom Web Spider (18 - 20) 4.15% (62572)
Last time I checked there was nothhing that lvl in Elwynn Forest. For future reference, who should I notify of these types of errors?

Okay, I am a lvl 58 hunter, OMW to hammerfall in the Highlands i killed several spiders within 5 mins and looted about 7 of these from like 10 spidys so rare i think not, and the only reason they sell for 1G is b/c thats what overpricing noobs charge. OMG it's Spider silk, something used in alot of lowbie gear. Get a clue.

I just grabbed 4 from 'Thelgen Rock Cave' (53,63) in the wetlands, Lev 26 warlock, all spiders around lev 22... I got the 4 just going in and out in one trip.
Killed all spiders twice so about 60 spiders I guess, so approx a 15% drop rate.

Wildhorn Lurkers in Ashenvale have a drop rate around 7.4% but still its very hard to find!
I really need them for 2x Toughened Leather Gloves!

On Magtheridon they go for about 1-2g a unit, 8g for 2 units and the stacks goes for 30g each.
I found that Hillsbrad footing is quite easy, the spiders are around lvl 20-21 and they drop it every +-10-15 spiders killed. The only thing is there's also bears 21-22 but they are easy to kill. I've been farming these with my lvl 18 warlock and didn't have any issues.

I play both factions on trollbane and I found that it sells in the horde AH for a lot more than it does on the alliance AH. Kinda a bummer since it's my horde character who actually needs it and my alliance character who would rather profit by selling it.

...I'm usually the person that gets mats to supply the guild bank - and one of the patches back around September or October made these EXTREMELY rare... (Alla - you might want to reset your stats!)
on Horde side, I've gone from Tarren Mill south, then west across almost to Silverpine, then north and back east to Tarren Mill, and only gotten THREE - killing every arachnid in sight.
on Ally side, I've killed EVERY creepy-crawly in Duskwood, and gotten TWO....
Blizzard definitely needs to up the drop-rate of this item a little but, because it's painfully low right now....

I have had pretty good luck with this stuff, enough to keep my Tailor happy. Recently I had occasion to make a newly created Draenel Priest some good gear, among which was a pair of Spidersilk Boots.
Sending my level 41 Paladin around to the various spots for materials (just because he was the one available at the time), I decided to wallop the Duskwood spiders, and did quite well. It doesn't matter so much the percentage drop rate if you can kill them in a few seconds-- economy of scale as it were. I got at least one from each of Green Recluses, Pygmy Venom Web Spiders, Venom Web Spiders, and Black Widow Hatchlings.
While there are other places to get spiders-- Thelgen Rock is also a good site-- Duskwood has enough of them so that you can go kill-crazy and fill your bags with the silk. It's my farming area of choice for this material, less rare than some would have you think. Of course, not everyone knows this, so it still goes for 102g each on the Alliance AH in Silver Hand.

Spider's Silk is extremely valuable. tailors can use it to make spidersilk boots and spider silk drape. spidersilk boots got for about 20 to 35 gold and a spidersilk drape can go from about 50 to about 80 gold. and for a level 35, thats a pretty good thing to sell. spidersilk itself can go from 1 to 10 gold each! i got six of them in arathi highlands in about 25 mins. there are a bunch of giant plain creepers near go sheik farm and wither bark village. the spiders are pretty easy to kill and drop many other items that can be sold for good money in the AH. the only downside is the drop rate isnt great, so it might take some time. i think you could easily get 5 in 30 mins. if you play for 4 hours you could get 40 and sell it for about 150 gold, maybe higher. another thing is that, for example, if you are level 32 and fight giant plain creepers all day, you would probably get 200 gold and be level 35 easy. even if you are a higher level it will be easier to kill the spiders and you could double your profits from a level 32.

The drop rate is rediculous for this item, considering how many you need for tailoring. I'm working on getting my Enchanted Gold BloodRobe and I need just 2 pieces of Silk so my tailor can make the Robes of Arcana.
I've killed a few hundered Creepers now and only have 1 silk to show for it. I have standing order with friends not to sell/trade/auction any they find. One of the more painful pieces to procure.

Why would

I got one of these from a spider in East Ashenvale near Satyrnaar on my first kill; I killed a few more and ended up with three. I suspect this is the best place to farm but unfortunately you will be too high a lvl to make use of them, so if you want for an alt I recommend you try farming there. (BCClassic)
