Everyone should do this quest, it's easy, the rewards are worth some gold and although it usually contains some food, potions and two greens it can in fact contain a blue item(!).
I know first hand since I got Plans: Mithril Shield Spike. "Only" a plan, but still a blue. Maybe there are others?

I received a blue, green and potion:

Imperial Red Cloak
Greater Healing Potion

Plenty of gold for minimal work.

Looted both Crescent Edge of the eagle and Reciepe, and then Mana potion and Pumpkins.. really good loot.

Maybe if he needed more food he gets a hammer out of his basket and whacks some unsuspecting turtle/gryphon

When I opened it, 3 trolls lvl 49 spawned and attacked :D

I killed them, opened it again to see if I could get an item.... and they spawned again :D

You pick up the loot from one of the dead trolls. I got a 10 int, 10 spirit leather belt, two greater healing pots, one fine aged cheddar and an invisibility pot recipe.

Yogi, if you don't have the quest before you open the picinic basket the 3 trolls will spawn every time you open it. I did this 5 times before I got bored. Where do you start this quest?

Nasty fight this.. they (or at least one of them) can execute. Be wary of this when you're on low health.

so i took that long ass swim to get to the hinterlands and got this quest. completed 5 minutes later. 3 49 lvl trolls spawned and me being a 46 warrior was pretty hard. attacked one and kept focus on it then used to imtimidating shout and the other two ran in fear. i used a health pot and quickly killed the troll, looted and got his lunch first kill ran away and the other two trolls didn't follow me. got a green bow and mail chestpiece

OK, I am a lvl 46 Mage. I opened the lunch and the (3) trolls came for me. I sheeped one and then ran cause they had already killed me (3) times before. LOL. I swam in the water, used blink, until the (2) chasing me turned around and went back.

The 3rd one that was sheeped finally returned to troll form and came after me. I fought and killed him, looted the body, and got Lard's Lunch.

Not the most courageous fight I've waged but I still completed the quest by myself at lvl 46.

Turned the quest in, received Lard's Special Picnic Basket and got (2) Journeyman's Backpacks, (1) Greater Mana Potion, and (1) Cheddar Cheese.

i just gt some heal pots and mana.A pumpin 0.0. and i also got unicorn ring which i sold to a guildy for 5g.It gives 16 magic damage and healin bonus.=D

This is not for Alliance!
Found it on the island at 83,41.
Spawned 3 Lvl 49 Troll kidnapper, which gave no loot and no XP!
Also the basket is useless for Alliance, no loot only respan of the 3 trolls.

LOL, i got Valorous helmet, and a blue robe^^ and a moonberry juice, and 3 healing potions ^^ I think this quest was very hard, but the trolls were a nighmare.

this quest is super easy
i am an arms warrior and all i did was retalliation - sweeping strikes - ms over and over...all three died before i even reached %65 percent health

and in the basket i got a green sword - 2g 79s, cloth hood - 59s, and 3 mana pots plus the 1.4g reward

all together i got almost 5 gold in an easy 10 min.

Dagger was a nice upgrade for me as a Warlock since it has a +17 fire mod.

- Conk Hammer of the Bear (2H mace, 37.3 dps, +13 Sta, +13 Strength
- Recipe: Elixir of Giants (alchemy 245 - makes a potion that gives +25 to strength for 1 hour)
- soft banana bread
- 2 superior healing potions

Well worth it.

i got 1 "245" blacksmith plan, 1 "250" blacksmith plan, 2 mana pots and a sandwitch. sorry i cant rember what both the plans were. but it was eaither thorium breastplate and myrthril helm or thorium helm and myrthril breastplate. im sure you smithys can figure out witch it is :P
