Can we get confirmation that we get credit for these Feats of Strength if we have completed these objectives in WoW 1.0 (ie "pre-BC")? Or do we have to do them over again once Wrath is released? Please post a link to the confirmation.

You will only receive credit for this particular achievement if you still have the item when Wrath of the Lich King is released. Source: Tigole.

I just Achived this one, and its not "hard" in lvl 80 i could had soloed if i had some holy gear (im a prot pally), anyway GL to all those who still thinks its an awesome wep :P pre tbc i could'nt had gotten it cuz i was a mage back then ^^

Took a cpl of weeks after i got the "Eye of Sulfuras" but i traded some "Core Leather" for some ingots and it went faster :)

The Eye of Sulfuras just dropped for my hunter, obviously I cannot equip this (being a mace), but i'm curious if this still counts when I create it? Can anyone confirm if you NEED to equip it?

Edit: Just made it, I can confirm the achievement still counts fortunately, no need to equip.

I think they changed it. I got this on my Druid and i HAD to Equip the Mace. No Achievement for have it in the inventory.

Suggesting that someone lie to a GM to try and get an achievement is BAD advice. Every conversation you have with a GM is recorded in the logs, and GMs can check the logs, so lying to them about what another GM said is likely to ruin any chance you have of success.

One can understand how Blizzard could have sympathy for someone who went to the effort to get all the materials only to discover that their effort was wasted because when he asked a GM to clear up an ambiguity (ie owning vs equipping) the GM made a mistake. But if a person knew up front that the achievement would not be possible, or didn't think to ask, then I would say it was silly of that individual to try.

If a GM has already told you "No" then it is your own problem if you still go ahead and go to all the effort of getting the item. Likewise if you have visited this page, then you should also know that this achievement is not supposed to be possible if you cannot equip a mace. What BuRY did is fine, because he did actually ask a GM first, and the GM mistakenly told him he would get the achievement when he crafted the item. But anyone who takes his advice now is knowingly using that exploit. The fact that he has posted how he inadvertently exploited the system should not be viewed as an invitation for all and sundry to try to do the same, and the likely outcome will be that Blizzard will come out with a firm policy of "No" and possibly even remove the achievement from the individual who posted the exploit in the first place.

Those who still want to try to get the achievement in this manner should realise that the more people who do so, the more likely it will be that the situation will be ruined for everyone, and quite possibly for someone who genuinely deserves the achievement.

Bottom line is that Blizzard is under no obligation to award the achievement to anyone who cannot equip the item themselves. Lets be honest here, it should be obvious that one has to equip the mace in order to earn the achievement (you only truly "own" an item once it is bound to you). Otherwise people could simply pass the hammer around to all and sundry, trivialising the achievement.

Once the item is created it's soulbounded. Other thing. At this point when nobody is farming MC anymore like it used to be in old times getting all the mats might be harder now than doing "The Undying" Achievement for example. To all that, looting the item from Ragnaros needed to combine it with Hammer is pretty damn hard. I've been doing MC since vanilla wow and I've seen only two Eyes droped. One at the end of Vanilla Wow and second few months ago for me. So I doubt ppl around the world could get it fast and easy. Aslo, why is it exploit if GM's knew I am a Mage when they told me I will be granted Achievement? Maybe the one I met had that - One can understand how Blizzard could have sympathy for someone who went to the effort to get all the materials

Will this weapon also drop from ragnaros in cataclysm? Could be awesome if it was reborn so ppl realises how hard it is to get

In 3.3 Patch it was changed from "Owner of..." to "Wielder of.."

Edit: This mean you cannot get this achievement granted by Game Master as the achievement state you have to equip it, not be only an owner of..

As I said, it is an inadvertent exploit, ie you didn't realise you were exploiting a GM's ignorance. As far as I am concerned, you do deserve the Feat of Strength because you did your due diligence. You asked the question in innocence and were mislead by the first GM (even if unintentionally). Its not your fault that you were falsely led to believe your efforts would result in the reward, so I wholeheartedly agree with the second GM who held Blizzard to their word.

However if another person, after reading this thread, tried to do the same thing, that would be an intentional attempt to exploit a GM.

So kudos to you for getting your Feat of Strength, but I would chalk it up to a bit of good fortune were I you :)

I made the mace in 3.3 and you definitely will not recieve this achievement now if you cannot equip it.

As the above poster said, after 3.3 you can only get this achievement if you can equip it. I had the eye prior on my warlock (i'm an achievement junkie), but could not finish crafting it until after 3.3 due to lack of mats. No Achievement.
