This pet is obtainable through the quest Lawn of the Dead which can be completed just south of the Dalaran Crater in Hillsbrad Foothills. The quest is essentially a minigame which can be played even after the final part of the chain is completed. Experienced players of Plants vs Zombies should have little difficulty in completing this quest as it is essentially the same concept. To learn more about the mechanics of this minigame click here.

This pet is actually an in-game version of the sunflower plant from the Plants vs Zombies game. It will occasionally have music notes appear over its head and it will sing parts from the PvZ theme song.

For those of you having problems with the 4th and 5th quest in the quest line to get this pet.

There is one super easy tactic to complete them. On the first two rows, you plant sunflowers, as soon as you can.

On row three, four and five you plant the tentacle-thingys. ONLY the tentacles. They will take care of every single zombie that attacks. Also, by doing this, you will save up enough energy to set of a few pumpkin bombs aswell.

I did The Battle of Darrowshire and was merrily killing zombies, when I heard my little Singing Sunflower in between the sounds of the battle.

"There's a zombie on your la-awn."

I used pretty much the same tactic that I used on the real game, 1st two rows of Sunflowers, next a row of the freeze spitters, a row of the normal spitters, a row of the walls, a row of tentacles and then the bombs at varying times to speed things along.

I stole the technique from the quest prior, after getting the wobbles at being overrun all the time.

Sunflower, sunflower. Rock in front of zombie. Sunflower. Rock in front of second zombies.

Then I just sunflowered it up until I had 5 down.

Then Tentacle, sunflower, tentacle, sunflower... until I had 10 sunflowers and 5 tentacles.

I did put some of the Freezyas behind the tentacles to slow things up, but in the end just tried to fill as many spaces as possible with tentacles.

Worked a charm!

I found through trial and error on the 4th quest in the chain that the initial wave of 3 or 4 zombies doesn't grow any larger until you start killing them.

Therefore, the easiest strategy I found was to stall the initial wave of zombies with rocknuts (which can last quite a while against 1 or 2 zombies beating on it) while I got two full rows of sunflowers planted. After that I just put as many strangler vines down as I could, close to another row's worth before the initial wave of zombies died. After that it was just more strangler vines - easily 2 full rows of them before the 4th and 5th missions ended. Strangler vines seem to be the best since they disable the mob they're attacking in addition to doing damage to them, unlike the splitters. You'll have more solar power than you know what to do with, so residual solar power went into pumpkin bombs and then occasional freezing plant to slow them down.

On the 5th and final mission, pumpkin bombs easily do the most damage (~7000, and the boss only has 35000 HP), so I just waited for them to be off CD before nuking the boss with them (after setting up the 2 rows of sunflowers and another 2 rows of strangler vines). You can place them behind his obelisks, which will end up having no effect on the bombs.

On the whole this strat turned out to be very easy, since I ended up being very well fortified before the large waves began coming. Enjoy your adorable singing sunflower :D

Some sunflowers aren't looking for anything logical, like plant food. They can't be plucked, trimmed, snipped off at the stem, or torn from the ground. Some sunflowers just want to watch the world burn.

People get duped into believeing this thing is cute because of the sunflower pettles and smile.. but if you notice the pure blackness of its eyes, you know theres something not quite there, like a soul.
And thats what it wants, your soul! Pray that its not to late, before this thing consumes yours and everyones soul into a void of nothingness!

Dunno how to get it to sing on command, but since getting the Sunflower companion, I've noticed that after having it out and being "poofed" by it, my warlock's spells have the golden, glowing music note animations! I'd be curious to know if the animations manifest in any way on other classes' abilities and how they look.

I was leveling my paladin earlier, did these quests, got my companion, and then the most hilarious thing happened. I was getting run through Scarlet Monastery: Graveyard, and my sunflower started chasing around undead.. I lawled for an hour

Does anyone know what this flower says? I know it sings "There are zombies on the lawn" or something, but what is that other cute little thing it says?

Edit: Okay, I figured it out, I listened to it by manually playing the audio files and it's the babble audio, I was wondering about. Turns out it doesn't say anything at all, but just babbles, when it plays in game it's so low you can't tell, which is the point I guess.

Most pets go invisible when you stealth. But it seems that since this pet casts a spell (to sing) people can see it while you're stealthed because the singing causes it to come out of it's "pet stealth." This isn't confirmed but just posting it as a warning to some rogues. I was able to see an undead rogue's sunflower that was stalking twinks in Goldshire today, rendering his stealth pretty much useless.

It still glitches if you fill up the last row. I have gotten this companion on four toons so far this morning. The important thing is to get 3 rows of sunflowers, and DO NOT place anything on the last row.

This is arguably the most annoying pet in the game. Not because it is annoying per se, but it is annoying to have it repeat its song once every 3 seconds. They could at least put a very large delay, e.g. 20 minutes or at least 10. So at least then it would be a rare pleasant surprise. Now every 5 seconds "blah blah lala lalala". STFU. It really needs a Samuel L. Jackson meme to double dare it.

Anyone else notice that while in combat with this pet out it will heal you? on myd 85 dk in frost i do not have death strike or any other self heals to my access withought going through the spellbook. i also have it so that it show names of healers. whenever i am soloing dungeons in frost i still get healed for 4k every 3 seconds. just wondering if it was only me.

i have found this quest to be a pain. i made it to the last part of this quest chain and am stuck big time. did read a good idea i plan to try very soon. maybe this time it will work! good luck to everyone trying this. just keep at it.

First off (LOL) you people who keep making comments about "leaning to the other side" DO realize many women play WoW, right? I am one of them women after all. I actually think this game was fun. Yes, I had to do a couple quests over again in the series but it was still fun! I think the sunflower is cute and annoying at the same time.

Its tooltip states its strong against undead, but none of its attacks get any bonus damage against undead. Its only strong against mechanical.

Very awesome pet. Great against mechanical type pets. The heal is very nice as it stays up for 5 rounds allowing you lots of time to do damage.

The quest is repeatable, but does it offer the pet as a reward more than once? Up to 3 that is, as my pet panel currently shows I can have a maximum of 3.

The Singing Sunflower reminds me of an old English cartoon from the 50's, called "The Flowerpot Men" on BBC. There was a character called Weed that looks a lot like it.

Recently nerfed?

Of all the things blizz could have done, you can no longer click spam the Sunflower to get its iconic voice line.
It says "Sunflower :3" one time, then nothing. No one in my group could get theirs to say anything either.
Anyone know the time limit on that ?
