In the PTR of 4.0.1. this spell has been used to kill players of any faction, pvp or not, duel or not. the attack model was changed to a Chain Mind Sear effect. would look like a chain lighting by hoping to other target, but was Mind Sear. I Believe this was a bug in the PTR and will probably be fixed within a week.

They said they don't want one pet to be taken over another because one has a higher DPS than the rest... so I am going to assume that having your pet channel this ability will have less single target DPS than having it melee attack the target and use its basic attacks.

It's also possible that they added two AoE skills to exotic pets so that Beast Master hunters will have their own form of propped up AoE, just like Marksman have improvements on Multi Shot and Survival has improvements on Explosive Trap.

I just read that they added more power to this in beta 13066 so it will scale with more hunters AP, i think its one of the aoe buffs beast master pets are getting to be viable aoe on trash mobs in Cata. They are definitely not nerfing it.

Wait, are my eyes deciving me or this spell has no cooldown? Cause, if that was the case, it would be kinda like a permanent AOE pet... which would be quite interesting to say the least.

It should be noted that this is a level 85 ability. At the moment, in WotLK patch 4.0.1, it does nothing. The icon just sits under the pet skills tab.

Works if your pet is currently attacking a mob when you click it.

But for some odd annoying reason, and with all other macros for pet spells that aren't Taleneted(Water Ele's freeze too), You can't get the macro to show the spell lit up, leaving it dark as if uncastable.

Macro with other skills on a 6-8 second CD
with no spell effect or CD the only other way to see it's working is to watch the Combat log.
At lvl 77 this damage does show in the Combat Log, top pet damage ability actualy

So, based on Frostfire damage being either Fire or Frost damage whichever is better, and Spellstorm for druids being Arcane/Nature, is the Froststorm damage from this Frost/Nature? I haven't a clue how to test that, so maybe if someone more knowledgeable can enlighten me?

According to the tooltip, it also seems to be affected by haste, ticking faster, with a commensurately shorter duration.

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but right after taming him, talenting him, dismissing and calling, I CANNOT get the AoE breath to actually work as an AoE. I've tried fighting two mobs at once and it still only seems to work single target, no matter how I try to position my pet or the mobs.

Some people are saying it's Conal, but the tooltip just says AoE (the actual move LOOKS conal, but either the cone is REALLY thin or something is wrong).

I did some testing of this ability to find out just how it works. Up to date as of patch 4.1.0a.

It is a cone ability.
It hits unlimited targets within it's range.
It is a channeled spell.
Your pet can move while the spell is channeling without interrupting it.
While channeling, your pet cannot attack by any other means without interrupting the spell.
It does not require a target for either you or your pet to activate.
The first "tick" is skipped, meaning the actual first tick is after the first 2-seconds less your haste have passed.
The cone is 6-7 yards long, and probably 3-4 yards wide at it's widest point (i.e it's not very big). The actual cone does not extend as far as the animation.

As it's setup right now there is little point in using this over Burrow Attack at any point due to it's unwieldy nature.

As of May 18th, patch 4.1, The pet ability Bite does NOT trigger the GCD for this spell. In fact, there is no GCD triggered whatsoever from using this ability, although you cannot interrupt a current cast with another cast.\

Also like to add that using this ability does not break camouflage, although you cannot see the spell effect.

4.3 PTR change:
Breath now deals 20% more damage and has a much larger range (12y instead of 7).
Does anyone know the firing cone so we can calculate how much extra area is covered?

As of patch 4.3....
Maybe this is cheap of me, but because this spell has no GCD, I've macroed it to all of my attacks so that the pet is constantly using it. All of the other pet attacks aren't worth using since they do less damage than Froststorm breath, are single target, will stop Froststorm breath from being channeled, and have a cooldown timer. That is not to say that you should take them off of auto-attack, because there are windows to fit them in (such as when you are casting cobra shot or steady shot). Froststorm breath uses so little focus that it could be spammed non-stop for an hour straight. I've tested on a target dummy, and Frostfire breath does up to 3k DPS (level 84) by itself! Compare this to a cunning pet specced the same way that pulls 1.3k DPS. You can check my pet's talent's here.

Apparently Froststorm damage does not count as frost damage when fighting Viscidus in AQ40.

As of 6.0 you can quickly and safely use 霜暴之息 to freeze 維希度斯 in 安其拉 after he has no health left.

This ability coupled with 冰息術 makes the chimaera family potentially very good for fighting rogues as a hunter. 霜暴之息 can be used to knock the rogue out of stealth and 冰息術 is a useful, low-cooldown snare for keeping distance from melee opponents.

Very important note: this ability is also BLINDINGLY bright. Considering the fact it's a cone that faces outward from the pet, and follows their movements, including when they turn, you can also hit yourself in the face with a flashbang of white and blue.
