Depending on haste/lag of the shaman, it'd probably take just over a minute of bolt/CL casts to completely remove the CD of EM. I figure 47 bolt casts(94s off) on a 1.7s cast-time with 100ms ping would equate to 90seconds of time used up as well - and seeing as EM has a 180s(3m) cd. With glyph of EM it'd take probably 8-9 less casts to use EM again sooner. So basically just under 50 casts of any spell on unglyphed. It'd take less than 2minutes nonetheless to refresh EM. When you look at it, this basically removes to CD by just over a minute.

It's just my attempt at some bad math though. If things like LO, Lightning/Thunder Capacitor trinkets affected this, it'd make a big difference and would speed things up in lowering the CD.

Someone can correct me if they wish.

Based on some hasty math I was just doing, it looks like this effect will remove 60-90 seconds from your EM CD, depending on rotation, latency, haste rating etc.

The set bonus is currently VERY BADLY bugged. When you use Elemental Mastery with the 2 set on, it puts it on a 7 day cooldown. So far I have tried many things, such as changing specs, entering an arena match, disabling my addons, I even put in the glyph of Elemental Mastery, nothing has worked. Currently have a GM ticket open but I heard average wait time is ~4 days.

To my other elemental shamans: DO NOT USE THE 2 PC T10, or you'll regret it during the raid week.

An interesting point is that if you have anything more then 50% spell haste LvB actually begins to eat into the global, while LB keeps scaling. During Bloodlust if EM is burnt you're hitting 50% haste with Wrath of Air down, not including your haste. I'm not sure what the exact formula is for when LB spam passes LvB or even if it does, but during EM you're LB to LvB ratio is higher. Just a though.

As I experienced, this set bonus makes my Elemental Mastery cooldown down to 1:20 from 3:00.

So the 2 piece bonus goes up to the 4 piece bonus and says:

"USE LB MOAR!"

and then the 4 piece bonus says:

"USE LvB MOAR!"

and then I say:

"WTF Blizzard? Just make elemental shaman scale already."

Ignoring the use of Flame Shock, Lava Burst and any other ability, here's my number crunching.

180 = 2x (from the set bonus) + 1.5x (1.5 being the cast time of my LB)

x = 180/3.5

= 51.4 casts

In other words, 77 seconds is about the standard you can get the cooldown reduced to, and judging by the comment just above that seems to be accurate.

This calculation did not factor in Lightning Overload, so perhaps that does not work.

Finally, this set bonus isn't actually worth it. The T9 set bonus gives a flat out 10% damage boost to LvB, which translates into 2% more damage (20% overall damage from Lava Burst). Similarly, this gives 15% haste for 10 seconds every 78 seconds assuming you use nothing but LB (already a DPS drop) to earn an average of 15% haste every 7.7 seconds, resulting in a 1.95% average haste and therefore DPS boost.

Thus I conclude that this set bonus is an absolute joke of an ability where the designers tried to be "edgy" with mechanics they did not understand. The 4 set piece bonus demonstrates this further, reducing the impact of the 2 set bonus.

Then again, you here only look at the haste-gain from EM, not the instant-cast (which naturally should be used with a LB, as it offers no DPS-gain to an instant LvB or CL). Also, keep in mind that this is a 2-set bonus, where you're comparing it to a 4-set bonus, and saying that a "loss" of 0.05% (which is easily made up from the increase of stats) is alot.

Thus I conclude that this set bonus is an absolute joke of an ability where the designers tried to be "edgy" with mechanics they did not understand. The 4 set piece bonus demonstrates this further, reducing the impact of the 2 set bonus.

On top of that, you seemingly havn't seen the newest notest on the 4-set bonus, which makes every LvB impact extend the duration of FS on the target by 6 seconds, which is a bonus that doesn't change anything to the 2-set bonus - unlike the old 4-set bonus correctly enough did.

Anyway, as far as my tests and observation goes, I can add that this bonus doesn't trigger from Lightning Overload or Chain Lightning multi-hits, but - as would be understood from the set-text - that it reduces the time at the very second you complete a cast.

I just tested this on a Dummy with ~1.63 cast on lightning bolt and 1.22 second cast on chain lightning. It just about halved my ele mastery CD.

I also followed my normal rotation, so yes lava burst was in there as well as flame shock.
