REPOST: NEW WotLK PET! A new pet has turned up on the Beta and it's one we collectors have really been clamoring for—it's an adorable pet penguin! He goes by the name "Chilly" and he has a nifty swimming animation too!

UPDATE: Originally, this pet was available to beta testers on US realms. According to the in-game mail message, Chilly was a thank-you gift for players who linked their WoW account to their Blizzard account. However, Bornakk, an official Blizzard moderator, recently stated:

As of right now, there are no details on how this little guy will be available on the live realms.

So perhaps we jumped the gun on posting about how this pet will be obtained. It may still have something to do with linking WoW accounts to Blizzard accounts, or it may be obtained through completely different means. One thing is certain: as soon as we know for sure, we'll post the details here.

From the 3.3 patch notes, taken from MMOChampion:

Mr. Chilly is now named Oswald.

Which one can assume means that this pet may become available in 3.3.

New patch notes: "Mr. Chilly is no longer named Oswald and got his old name back."

As stated below, he will be "rewarded" to players who convert to a battle.net account.

I'm pretty sure on the Beta the penguin we got was named "Chilly the Pengiun" and not "Mr. Chilly" - Unless they already changed him once.
Furthermore, whats the point in changing his name if he was a beta-only pet? Or is there some way to move him to our live characters? That would rock.

Oswald? Penguin? I don't know but it seems like an awfully obvious reference to The Penguin from Batman. His actual name is Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot :P

Maybe they tried changing it to Mr. Chilly but it didn't quite go through, thus no pet yet.

I'm thinking they will release it with 3.3 since they are trying so hard to get the name right, being it's now completely different, and he's cold-related so being out for WOTLK is a priority. :D

This has been announced to be given away to those that merge their accounts with Battle.net. The distribution date and deadline have not been announced.

Apparently in the latest build on the PTR (10571), Oswald's name is changed back to Mr. Chilly.

You will get an in-game mail containing an Unhatched Mr. Chilly from Breanni.

When you use the egg, it teaches you the pet, but it does not consume the egg. I assume that it can be safely deleted after it is learned. Keep one around though in case you create a new character. Since it is Bind on Account, you will be able to mail it to your new toon.

Mr.chilly is a reward for merging your world of warcraft account with a battle.net account, doing so will change your login to the email you bound them to ie user name was bob is now bob@gmail.com etc , i got him today , i love arctic animals :P also the item that teaches this pet is bind to account

If you yet to receive the pet, but have converted - please completly logout of your account (up to 15min) log-back in, and your new Mr.Chilly will be waiting for you

Unhatched Mr. Chilly Egg, is finally available (10/15/09) and you can receive him on any of your character(s) if you go to your mailbox but you must have a us.battle.net / eu.battle.net account in order to receive him.

So....if you have merged your account awhile ago but stopped your subscription after you did so and wont be on for the 30 days after it is mailed to you, will the pet be deleted in the mailbox after 30 days or what? Please i would really appreciate the help.

I just got mine today. Oct. 16, 2009. He's a little penguin who looks just like Pengu, whom u get at exalted with Kaluak. I got one on all of my characters and it is just like the Baby Blizzard Bear, keep him on one character and u can send him to any of your characters of the same faction on the server. This little guy is awarded to players who have merged their WoW account with a battle.net account. One is sent to every existing character on your account. He may be sent to all new characters you make, but this may only be within a certain amount of time from the merging. i made a new character and as soon as i logged in i had mail from Breanni.

I've always considered it a little odd how excited people are getting over this pet, considering a penguin pet has been avaliable for the last few months. Anyway, I'm a bit annoyed with Blizz, put in the rep grind with Kaluak purely for the pet and now nearly everyone has one anyway.

I will stand by my Pengu though.

Some, like me, actually do the grind just for the pet... oh the hours.. :shudder:
Not to mention that at the end of the day, you can get a similar fishing pole (stat +30 fishing) from the daily Dalaran fishing and that just takes luck and time, i saved a bit of gold by doing so as well.

Really annoyed about Mr Chilly, he is so not encouragement or a thank you extended for our time migrating to Battle.net. They could have simply shrunk him by 1cm and changed his skin colour or something... anything!
They could have spent the tiniest bit of time on him, exerting the tiniest bit of effort instead of just renaming a pet we already have and removing the emote in doing so. I am far from impressed when the official announcement was severely misleading. I know I sound unappreciative, but loathe how they have mis-represented him as great opportunity and extended as a great thanks.

I bet the majority of avid pet collectors will find him disappointing, not just in looks but seriously they decided his name should revert to Mr Chilly, over Oswald... as my bf very wisely stated amidst my waffle that at the very least it counts + 1 on the petometer and he is right there.

I just got Mr. Chilly, i got him in the mail after i merged my WoW account to a Battle.net account. I recieved an ingame mail from Breanni that said:
