Average price on most servers seems to be between 4-5g per x-mute. The cooldown is 48 hours.

I recommend stockpiling these if you can. Possibly cooperate with a miner to keep yourself stocked up with arcane crystals and thorium. It can be tough work trying to get 15 bars of arcanite when you decide you want to craft something or need them for a quest.

If you are an alchemist, check the auction house to see what Arcane Crystals and Arcanite Bars are going for. If the difference is larger than whatever the average cost of a transmute is, then buy the crystals and thorium cheap and transmute them yourself, then sell the Arcanite. Arcanite sells quickly and is alot less annoying than standing around in a city spamming trade chat looking for someone in need of a transmute. Not to mention you can often turn a larger profit.

As of 2.1, the cooldown is 23 hours. Similar spells with very long (24 hours or more) cooldown has had their cooldowns reduced by 1 hour. As far as I can figure out, the logic is simply like this:

Assuming you were to use your transmute exactly when it cools down, chances are, you'll be off by a few seconds if you're hardcore, and several minutes if you're more casual. Let's say day 1 you transmute at 7pm, and you keep doing so everyday. With 24 hour cooldown, chances are, few weeks down the line you will have your cooldown only happen in the middle of the night. With 1 hour cooldown reduction, you can transmute (or whatever similar spell, say, make mooncloth or something) at the same hour every day (or every 4 days in the case of mooncloth).

Does anyone know if transmute master can proc off of transmuting arcanite? (Or any pre-BC transmutes for that matter) It would be super cool if it did.

At level 60 this is still my biggest money maker in Alchemy. I can buy the mats for less than 2 gold, and turn around and sell it for around 15 gold a piece if I just wait until a good market.

Strange thing is the market will vary from a low of 6 gold, and a high of 20gold. So best to stockpile them while watching the AH until a good high price comes up.

This spell is a great moneymaker that doesn't require much work at all. One transmute a day can make 10g consistently. Buy the mats off the AH, and sell the bar on the AH. Get a feel for how much the mats and the arcanite bar sells for, and you will have a consistent cash flow.

Note for Llane Alchemists: Unless you are a miner, or know one you will have to buy your own materials (Thorium bar-2g in AH, Arcane Crystal- 5-10g in AH) This means that if you sell your arcanite bar in the AH for the general price (20g) the profit will only be 8-13g which is not bad. However, there is also good money in selling arcanite transmutes using the buyer's mats (which are especially good if you still get alch. skill from it). From experience I know that there are some people who will only tip 2g, but there are some rich and desperate souls who will pay 25g (provided you meet them at a destination that works best for the customer). I hope that whoever bothers to read this will find it useful. And when I learn more about it, i may post information similar to this about primal might transmutes in the primal might item comments.

Transmute: Arcanite continues to proc off Transmute Specialization, even after the cooldown has been removed. This is significant - transmute specialists now have a spammable application for their specialization. Over the course of 50 arcanite transmutes I received seven extra arcanite bars. Do bear in mind, however, that Transmute Arcanite has a very long cast time - 25 seconds. Transmuting 50 arcanite bars back-to-back took over 20 minutes.

As of 2.4.2, the cast time has been reduced to five and one-eighths of a second from 25 seconds. It continues to proc off transmute specialization - just did for me, as a matter of fact.

can anyone confirm that this is still eligible for transmute specialization as of patch 2.4.3? i'v now transmuted more than 70 bars since specializing, without a single proc. my specialization does proc on the CD-dependant primal and earthstorm transmutes, albeit with disappointing rarity: after more than 3 weeks, i'm not yet halfway to specialization paying for itself.

ok, i finally got my first proc on arcanite, somewhere around my 100th transmute since specialization, so it does still work. the proc chance is just depressingly low.

Can still proc from Transmute Master, but it seems lower; out of 97 transmutes, only got 7 procs, and they were only 2x (no 3x or 4x as mentioned above). But it could be poor RNG.

nah, blizz changed the way procs work, you don't have a chance to proc 5x anymore, but supposedly the rate of procs increased whereas the amount per proc decreased.

Transmuted 93 Arcane Crystals today as a Transmute Alchemist, and I made exactly 120 Arcanite Bars from them.

No procs: 68
x2 procs: 24 (!)
x3 procs: 0
x4 procs: 1
x5 procs: 0

Which gives an approximate proc rate (of any kind of proc) of 26.9%, and an approximate proc rate for x2 procs of 25.8%.

I think I found an amazing money-maker with this.

1) Have two characters, one with blacksmithing and mining and the other has alchemy
2) Have the miner collect lots of thorium and arcane crystals from thorium veins & smelt the thorium ore
3) Give the thorium bars and and arcane crystals to the alchemist
4) Transmute thorium bars and arcane crystals into arcanite bars
5) Give arcanite bars back to the blacksmith
6) Blacksmith makes arcanite rods to sell on ah.
7) Profit

Notice the absence of a ? step.

I am transmute spec'd. I transmuted 23 bars the other day & these are my findings.

8 times during the process an extra bar proc'd for a total of 31 bars.

No x3 or x4 or x5 bars proc'd
