He can be duoed by rogues at 57.

Can be stun locked most of the time.
When you'll be out of stuns - pop Evasion instantly because he hits Hard!

P.S. Don't know why but you can engage him exactly near the locked door and do not aggro the bar.
However if you begin running away from him - other mobs get aggroed! Note this and stand still.

P. P.S. Don't do this with 2 sub-dagger rogues. Seriously. Just don't do. I think that best way to do this is Muty / Combat or Muti / Sub. I did it with Comb/ Comb.

After you kill someone in the bar he'll go in front of the door and say "I do not enjoy conversation". The weird thing is that it says he is in the faction "Ironforge" then (for Alliance players at least). He is not in the "Ironforge" faction unless you make him go in front of the door.

just to let everyone know that if you happen to have the quest for the love potion for the sucubus in the bar. ( cant remember her name) if you turn it in to her and talk to her again she will go use the love potion on plugger and then run over and open the door. they go down under the stairs for a little one on one action. phalanx will not move and the door will be open no mobs to attack you till you go threw the door

So im soloing this as a level 70 mage. I kill everyone in the club (naturaly) except Phlanalx, cause hes still green and unattackable. I accidentally killed (or made him run off somewhere) the questgiver, so I cant get him drunk, therefore I cant kill Phlanax. Is there any other way to argo him?

The most probable reason for his name was because the model for this NPC (and consequently similar enemies around Blackrock Mountain) looks very close to the original Phalanx model as first appeared in Uncanny X-Men comics back in 1994.

At least that's how it struck with an old school comic reader like me.

There are several ways you can miss out on killing this boss, the first is if you initiate the event with the Grim Guzzler before getting Private Rocknot to knock down the door. Secondly, if you initiate the Private Rocknot event but kill the Grim Guzzler before aggroing him, he will return to being friendly (confirmed). Should you wipe after initiating the battle with Phalanx, he will despawn and has a chance to be found in a small room in the Dormitory (inbetween the vault and the Pyromancer Loregrain).

Not sure when this change went out but now he is of the Ironforge faction. Therefore, if you are an alliance character he will never turn hostile. I suppose he's loyal to Moira. Who knew?

I think it's also worth mentioning that if you do not engage him fast enough, he'll de-aggro and you can't kill him anymore.

I'm on a journey to level cap by solo'ing dungeons. This boss was interesting in that I didn't realize you could pull other npcs to fight him with you. If you pull him to the 1st floor of the bar, and let him use some of his aoe near Ribbly, and his group they'll join the fight since he'll hit them too. Makes killing him much easier.

How to anger Phalanx and make him Hostile as Alliance:

Don't kill any patrons yet.
Buy 6 黑鐵麥芽酒杯 from 普拉格‧史帕齊林 on the top left area of the Grim Guzzler. He is a gnome in a red wizard hat walking along a table. Be careful not to accidentally attack him, as he is neutral and can be engaged. The ale will cost you a total of 36 silver. Taking the ale from the table will eventually make him mad enough to attack you so don't do that either!
Speak to 士兵羅克諾特 nearby and turn in the quest 羅克諾特的麥芽酒 three times (2 ale per quest).
After you do this, 士兵羅克諾特 will search kegs until he finds the last one full of beer and forces the cork open, breaking the Bar Door.
Phalanx will get angry and become hostile to Alliance.

For some reason when you just kill all of the mobs and cause the patrol to come in and open the door, Phalanx moves to his boss position but does not become hostile to Alliance. This has something to do with the strange fact that he gains the faction of Ironforge when he moves to this position without doing the Rocknot quests.

8.3 add a new boss trigger

1- kill Plugger Spazzring and a new event start and every mob turn on hostile
2- kill phalanx

The "backdoor" to the bar cannot be lockpicked. I had hopes of using a rogue to quickly farm Phalanx after using the grim guzzler teleport, but sadly this doesn't work. You have to run through first half of the instance normally.
