Challenging to solo for most classes on the current Highmaul level gear.

Once you loot Demidos your character will be saved to Vignette: Demidos for that day and will be ineligible for additional loots even if you were unlucky before and nothing special dropped. Exact respawn time/method yet unknown though it seems to be either more than 5 hours or related to the population of Socrethar's Rise area somehow.

There are some rocks next to one of the wooden open structures. The rocks are at 47,72 at Socrethar's Rise. Some jumping and random negotiating is involved, but once you're up there, the path the rest of the way is on the left (46,72). I also found some coiled rope at 47,73. It looks like it's more a way to get down after Demidos is dead than it is a way to get up to kill him, but you can also scale that rock outcropping to get up to the platform. Both of the routes outlined worked better than trying to up the tree/rocks at 46,73.

But now that I finally found the pathway up to kill him, he won't respawn. The one true rare in this expansion. ;)

Appears to share a connection with the other rares in the area. Dropped 虛無之觸鑽石項鍊 upon killing him. I was waiting for 上士彌格菈 to show up, and she sure enough did after he died.

Just killed him with a Mage and Warrior....three who spotted him and worked together. He stacks Shadow Spike on you which reduces healing by 25% or some such. So the key is really just staying alive long enough to get him down. I tried to move out of his line of sight using a nearby rock and let my pet do the work but it didn't make any difference.

As a BM hunter, I maybe could have swapped out some glyphs and beefed my health options up more. But I did find that using feign death stopped the drain. It increased my health while my pet kept him busy and healed me with Spirit Bond.

As I was leaving the area I found a clickable Fruit Basket on the ground around 47:72, in front of what looks like an herb garden. When you click on the basket (pilferring) you get a 2 minute buff called Draenic Pear. The buff reads "Regenerating 1% of maximum health every 3 sec". I noticed that the baskets re-spawned rather quickly.

I would definitely try this just before you attack. It might give enough health to counter his drain. Blizzard often leaves clues in the area for defeating a tricky boss. Maybe this is it.

2-manned at level 100. Frost DK and a Disc Priest.

It was pretty hairy and I (the Disc Priest) went OOM as he died, but it was very doable.

As far as getting up to him goes, look for rope on top of a rock at the edge of the cliff. I was able to ride all the way up the rock to the cliff.

Respawn time is approx. 3-5min we just killed him then he spawned on top me...i think he was just bugged for a while like poundfist was.

His ability Demi and possibly himself to the an extent are most likely references to the Final Fantasy dark/time magic by the same name (also often known as Gravity) where it cuts HP by a certain percentage often 25% like in this case.

"Demi" also means half in latin however considering his dark appearance and the appearance of 菲加拉 in Frostfire Ridge I'd say a Final Fantasy reference is not out of the question.

Unsure of his 'official' spawn time, but I killed him on one toon, logged to an alt on the same realm, and not 5 minutes later he was up again.

not sure how much it will help, but on the us server, kilrogg, i killed him at 6 AM, left for a while, and killed him later at 11:30 AM the same day. i will continue to log my hours that i catch him. some added information, he seems to do enough damage with his abilities that he can kill your followers if they do not stand back far enough. my poor leorajh. T_T

Demidos is soloable with a hunter -- I was level 100, with 627 ilvl, BM spec with a beetle (or turtle) pet in Tenacity spec.

Keep the pet in the area with Demidos, while you stand on the far edge near the garden hut, between the two mob spawn locations. Wear your Sargerei Disguise, just in case, to avoid aggroing the two mob clusters. Standing near this edge will keep you out of Demidos' attack range, while leaving you close enough to fire off Kill Command and Bestial Wrath when they're up, along with things like Stampede if you have that talent. And, being between the two mob clusters kept them from being hit by my Glaive Toss, avoiding the extra aggro.

Thanks to the Demi, it's not safe to be constantly in attacking range, or in healing range of your pet. But, you can get close enough to throw off a heal, perhaps a few attacks as well if you're feeling daring, after one Demi goes off -- you'll most likely not be able to get away in time to avoid the next one. You could use Disengage to get away quicker, but you do face the risk of it throwing you completely off the ledge.

It'll take a while; I had time to throw off two Stampedes before he was dead. Spirit Bond and Adaptation talents, Glyph of Mending, and Glyph of Animal Bond will help keep you and your pet alive. Your pet, however, will pretty much be soloing this fight, hence why a beetle or a turtle would be a good choice; their Harden Carapace / Shell Shield ability is an excellent thing to have, in case you're a little slow to throw off another heal.

(Alas, Demidos seems to have a long-ish respawn timer, as I was waiting about an hour before he popped -- Had time to finish the garrison daily there by just killing the two clusters of mobs on that plateau. In addition, he didn't drop the pet when I killed him, and I don't know if he's lootable multiple times. I'm currently still waiting for him to respawn to try again, so we'll see.)

According to a guildie he has around a 60 min respawn timer.

Raid group is fine for the achievement + pet drop. Only 2 out of 10 got the pet.

i have been camping this spot for over 4 hours now with no spawn, i have also camped his spot for 2 to 3 hours on and off over the past week or so. just wanted to point out his spawn is not as fast as some think it is.

I killed him 3 times today in 5 hours. I got some loot the first time killing him, but got nothing the other two kills. Literally just nothing since the first kill, both my friend and me. I'm wondering if this is a one time loot. If so, hurry up and buy dat pet I suggest.

just soloed this "beast " as $%^&ty geared blood DK (598 Il for IL-philes) regarding my item level, i think there wont be a reason for any higher il blood dk posting comments that he manged it too, i never understand it exposing having soo high il and how it was so incredible easy:D, challenging is beating in lower gear actually.
anyway every blood dk around ~600 il can do it iam the proof and far form expert tank, just try n try n try and have fun

no daily quest, just tried my luck and after like half and hour he just spawned

I've killed Demidos as a Hunter a few times solo, only because there seems little interest to kill him - despite letting people know he drops a valuable pet - so soloing seemed the only option for me.

I found the best way (for me) is as a BM. This is partly because the aggro holds well, but also it's far easier to heal the pet than it is to heal myself, and it's good to have Demidos focussed on the pet instead of me - threat being a pain when any other spec.

The main issue with Demidos is his Demi ability. This reduces your health by 25% each time it triggers. I personally was unable to avoid this no matter where I stood. Line of sight issues didn't affect it so it made no sense to try and avoid it. There's no need to worry so much the first few times it hits, which is alarming because of the health loss. However, that health loss reduces each blast of Demi. An example of your health pool as a % for each blast illustrates how it slows down during later hits:

With self healing abilities they become very effective when you are at fairly low health, but it's also why it's imporant to keep the pet the main target. If you lose aggro with such low health then it's easy to get killed.

So Spirit Bond talent will keep you ticking over. In conjunction with that I also the Glyph of Liberation and then whenever Disengage is off cooldown I use that, ensuring that my back is against the rock near where you climb up. This makes sure I don't get out of range / fall off the cliff and assists the Spirit Bond in keeping me hovering around the 5% health mark throughout the majority of the fight. You could also use the Glyph of Animal Bond to help keep you up, although I personally didn't need it. You may also find Glyph of Mending to be useful to keep the pet alive as well.

I kept Counter Shot ready only for when Demidos used his 2nd ability, Shadow Spike, and was targetted at me. The pet can easily soak this up and with Mend Pet ticking away it's easily healed up so there's no need to risk the cooldown if the pet gets targetted.

The fight itself becomes a simple tank and spank. Just ensure you keep Disengaging whenever it's off cooldown and try not to panic when you see your health so low.

It took me around 5 kills to finally get the Servant of Demisos pet. I don't know if that's statistically good or not, but I was happy. Although this is primarily from a Hunter's perspective I hope some part of it helps others.

PS. If you are grouped with a healer and they aren't aware of how Demi works then you will want to explain this part. They will go into a mad panic and bleed out their mana trying to heal you and them and not realise they only need to top you up with a heal-over-time when you're at much lower health.

PPS. At my last kill I was at iLevel 628, but prior solo kills were at 613 - basically quest/mission gear, nothing special except for crafted iLevel 630 weapon.

Solo'd on my 660 fury. Had to prepot, use a healing tonic and the double-healing Bloodthirst Glyph but it was comfortable when I did so.

I found that I could solo this guy relatively easily on my Mistweaver monk in Spirited Crane Stance. I tried a few times as WW but kept getting slaughtered (not recommended).

My monk is 654 ilvl, so maybe that made a difference, but I had an easy time -- it just took about 4mins to get him into Touch of Death range.

1. Keep the healing debuff off you, either with Dampen Magic or your dispel.
2. If you get kinda low, don't be afraid to use Revival or Life Cocoon to get yourself in a better place.
3. Make use of any and all healing spheres.
4. Keep up the buffs from Blackout Kick and Tiger's Palm.
5. ?
6. Profit

Soloed as a 632 shadow priest. Barely. I lucked into Wrath from my Last Deck of Nemelex Xobeh, used power infusion, VE and mindbender tanking on CD. You'll be spending most of your time at ~30% HP. Don't panic.

Alternatively, get a ~~meatshield~~ friend.

Successfully, but just barely solo'd as a 653 Ret Paladin.

He's a tank and spank but I had to use all CD's including a Healing Tonic.

He's immune to stuns, roots and snares.

Save bubble for 5+ stacks of Shadow Spike and use LoH when you get to ~10% HP. I was specc'd into Selfless Healer and used ES on myself on CD. I was also spamming FoL when I had enough mana regardless of SH stacks.

Exact spawn for 德米多斯 is 45,72 in 影月谷 on top of the little mountain. Take the rocks on the right side of the little mountain to get up there.

I can confirm that Demidos is soloable on a Prot Pally. As long as you use your defensive CD's wisely its not a difficult fight at all. Just keep your health fairly low because he will cast a spell damaging you for 25% of your current health. It takes a very long time to solo but is very easy to do :)

Soloable as an Affliction Warlock with ~646 ilvl.

Use Glyph of Life Drain
Use Glyph of Health Funnel
Use Harvest Life
Use Soulburn: Haunt
Use Grimoire of Supremacy

Begin by sending in voidlord and popping all CDs, do you basic rotation except use drain life for filler and try to keep life drain for it full duration. Use Health Funnel off CD and cooldowns as needed. When your pet is about 20%-15% HP begin to summon another so it is summoned as the other dies (Not immune to taunts). Keep that up until boss dies.

Note: You may need a flask/food around 646, but once you get into he 650s it becomes less necessary to do so.

Respawn timer so far based on my personal experience: 1h 40m up to 2h. Today I have killed him four times and these are the time intervals:

~11:30
~13:25
~15:10
~16:50

I will continue to check every now and then. Next spawn on my realm should be between 18:30 and 19:00. Will update this post after I spot him again.

Confirmed: Spawned again 18:46.

The pet is a split drop, so not everyone will get it if your grouped up. Tried telling the people i was with this when they started inviting 20 people to kill this guy? so i left the group let them kill it and got the tag, and a nice new pet.

So you do not need to be in the group that gets the original tag. Its like any other rare.

It's silly how easy he is to solo with a resto druid. All I had to do was continue casting wrath, occasionally moonfire, keep myself healed, and remember to cleanse at every few stacks of the shadowspike debuff. Took about ten minutes.

On a side note, I do have the Dream of Cenarius talent. It's invaluable for soloing elites.

Just got this guy with a level 100 disc priest (me), a level 100 DK, a level 98 shadow priest, 92 shadow priest and 95 disc priest. Conserve heals and mana as it's a long fight (I'm pvp geared lol) and just tank n spank. He hits hard, so be ready. Kept PoM pinging, penance mostly and flash heal as little as possible. Prayer of healing helped some too. Just conserve mana and hold out, that's what it takes.

Solo'd as a ilvl 630 protection paladin. Used 永茂林種子袋 at the start to give myself a damage boost (had to cancel the effect and pop Lay on Hands when he was around 80% hp). As long as you interrupt Shadow Spike, and bubble if you miss a few, you'll be fine. procs helped a lot too.

Soloed this 3 times now as Frost Mage 660ilvl its very close but doable, no pet as of yet though.

My strat is go full nuke Timewarp, icy viens, trinket, int pot and Mirror Image ( I pop MI first so I can use it twice )

Your elemental will die after your images do so get it back up when you can.

Make sure you keep your shield up as it does help alot.

After your cooldowns are done and pets dead wait until your at about 10-20k hp and pop Ice Block (Have it glyphed to heal)

Continue to nuke and using shield

until 10-20k again and pop coldsnap

Nuke

10-20k Ice Block or health pot depending on Hypothermia

Nuke and mirror image if off CD

I managed to solo Demidos as a resto druid (ilevel 649). My talent tree uses Soul of the Forest in conjunction with Rampant Growth so I can continuously cast Rejuvenation->Swiftmend->Healing Touch. I also took Cenarion Ward, which is a very helpful ability for soloing elites, and Dream of Cenarius to boost my wrath damage and get extra heals off of every wrath I cast. Keep Sprouting Mushroom up at all times and remember to dispel the void spike debuff (I usually dispel after every 3rd or 4th stack). Regrowth on every clear cast that procs and keep moonfire ticking on him at all times. Activate both Ironbark and Barkskin for temporary damage reduction and, if you find yourself in a jam, pop a health pot to get yourself back in the green.

Soloed him as a Blood DK ilvl 678. If you have problems on high stacks of Shadow Spike, try interrupting one and using AMS on the next, this will make the debuff drops.

Just soloed this guy on my lv100 disc priest ilvl 650, was a long fight but once I got used to Silencing/Purifying his shadow spike and shielding on Demi it became easier. I also used 3 shadowfiend CD's and 2 Call to Arms CD's. As there wasn't anybody around at the time to help out I decided to go it alone and glad I did.

Extremely easy as a disc priest. Just dispel off the debuff, heal then saving grace to 75% or so, do dmg rotation, rinse/repeat. Takes about 4 or 5 min.

Just soloed him as a Feral Druid. Popped Berserk+Incarnation and just nuked him. Also used Survival Instincts for dmg reduction ofc...I am ilvl 680. I was passing there when I saw he was up...so remembering how I tried to solo him way back and had to run away...I decided to go and test him in my new gear and all.

Need a better way then trying to jump on the rocks to get up to where he is? Use 跳動的血球, two jumps and you're up there. You can click on the pile of rope once you're up there and it will make it easier for anyone else trying to get up. They just click the rope pile on the bottom if they want to follow you.

As long as you can interrupt 4 暗影釘刺 in a row to drop the healing debuff stacks you can easily solo this guy.

can solo him pretty regularly now as a 670 enhancement shammy...cast heal whenever maelstrom weapon is active, make sure you have a follower, and also use your fire and earth elementals as extra targets for him...

If you want to solo - definitely open up everything you have early.

As a 673 feral druid it was tight, took about three attempts (using Shadowmeld to back out if it looked like it was going south).

Best advice would be to keep heals up early, as you cant do much about the stacking debuff. Interrupt when you can and use every cooldown you have early on. Even on killing him I only had about 20k hp left and was barely scraping through with my self healing.

As of November 2015, I found it very hard to solo. He has 2 million HP. He hits with Demi, 25% of your current HP, so that means if you have say 400K HP, the first hit will be for 100K. A strategy might be to wait until your HP has dropped before using your cooldowns, if they are not % based, so they are more effective.

Shadow Spike hits for around 12-14K and can be interrupted. If not, it places a stacking debuf for 20 seconds that reduces healing by 5% per stack. This will kill you eventually. You need to try and interrupt his very frequent Shadow Spikes so as to avoid the debuf. Very easy to get out of sync with your cooldowns and lose. You must also try and output some damage and not spend all your GCDs on cooldowns.

Whoever said "this is easily soloable" you should stop playing WoW because obviously the game is too easy for you, maybe you should try walking on water next unless that is also "easily soloable"....

I have been to where he is supposed to be now, over 50 times, and never seen him....
Is his spawn based on some world event thing, or can he be farmed? If he can be farmed, can someone please tell me his respawn time?

Demidos uses the ability Demi, which is also a spell from the game franchise Final Fantasy, literally the same effect that instantly takes away a % of your health. In Japanese version, the spell Demi is called Gravity.

A little over 80 registered kills so far on trial characters and no pet or neck drops. Only apexis crystals. Does he even drop the pet for trial characters?

Can only loot once per day.

This is already stated in one of the comments below, but I tend to sort by newest first since so much changes, so I thought I'd put this back at the top. I was camping him and got loot the first time, and then not even a loot symbol when I moussed over the next 3 times so I eventually caught on that something must be wrong. Now I feel bad about the 3 unnecessary kills when someone else could have gotten loot.

If you're like me and think you can create class trials on multiple servers to farm it... Don't waste your time, the loot table has been completely removed for class trials.
I've killed it maybe 8/9 times now on dead servers as a class trial and there's nothing to be looted at all. There's another rare really close by and I'm able to loot that, just not the desired rare I wanted to loot

Unless there's some perquisite things to do like having a garrison (not sure why that would change anything) the class trials cannot farm it

I thought I could force spawn Demidos by doing the Assault on Socrethar. But, nope. I purchased the missive from garrison quartermaster, and completed the assault with no requirements/objective to kill Demidos.

Unforunately, I'll just have to sit and wait. BUT! I won't, because that's an epic waste of my time personally and I'll just buy the damn pet from AH.

At the time of this post, 12k on Stormrage Alliance. 15k on Area-52 Horde (the cost of the pet).

(Dragonflight) I took my main over there to look for Demidos, no luck after several times. He is level 70 and completed the expansion packs primary quest lines. I logged into an alt I was leveliing with Chromie Time (45 BM Hunter) and Demidos was there (as a 45 Rare Elite - couldn't solo). Went back to Stormwind, turned off Chromie Time, went back and Demidos was not there. Not sure if maybe some sort of phasing is preventing my main from seeing him and it was odd that Chromie Time affected it.

On current patch while in Chromie Time Demidos's Demi ability seems bugged. It hit for more than intended, on my character (level 69) with 262k health he hit for 1.25 million, leaving me at 1% health. Demi itself can't kill you, otherwise this would be a one shot.

Somehow, This boss magically learned the Final Fantasy 10 black magic ability Which basically looks the exact same and does the exact same thing as it does in that game. Great little nod to the series.
